Before I get another influx of comments informing me that the shark’s name is Bruce, yes, I know, and I will continue to call him Jeremiah because that’s what I called him before I ever reached the Radio Tower, and no, I will not stop :).
I just did a test last night with one sprinkler on the original floor. I was able to water 23 small plots with one sprinkler. After harvesting and replanting, that nets you 69 potatoes/beets. That's like 16-17 bowls of veggie stew. It's why veggie stew is always my go to. And because the small plots only cost planks and rope.
To be fair we only know there is a shark that was once named bruce. It may or may not be the same one. And Bruce is just what one person on the radio tower called her/him/them. As you point out elsewhere Jeremiah is probably biologically female. Though perhaps with those names uses he/him pronouns? :) I'll support their preference, but still gonna get stabby when there is a bite out of my raft or leg.
From looking at the seagull attack code, if I understood it correctly, when the seagull decides to attack it will first look straight at the very center of every single crop plot with watered small or medium plants you have and go straight for the first one it has a clear line of sight to (or to the regular scarecrow protecting it); any plot that the seagull can't see the center of, or that is protected by an indestructible scarecrow, is skipped. If the seagull saw no viable target then it looks for nests and lands on the first one it has line of sight to. Thus, AFAIK nests don't protect fully exposed crops at all, and only help indirectly with partially exposed ones by making seagulls spend some time on the raft and less time looking for food. Also, you should only ever need two nests as long as they both have an unobstructed view of the whole sky, as you only ever have two seagulls active at the same time. BTW, my preference when it comes to nests is to put them somewhere I have a clear line of sight at most times (in other words, somewhere I can shoot an arrow at them), and put a solid object behind them but without obstructing their view of the sky (so the arrow lodges itself there if I miss). Ever since I started doing this I've had a steady supply of seagull meat and never lost an arrow. Also, a hint if you have pasture on an upper deck with a sprinkler is to hang small crop plots under it; since the sprinkler reaches half a floor below it, small crop plots hanging from the nine tiles the sprinkler covers will be watered too, and will be protected from seagulls to boot.
I've kind of casually began adding the horizontal supports as I have the resources and time out of fear of the bug being patched someday and causing a grand calamity when I load in lol
Heres a cheeky trick: have either 2 titanium sword or machete in your slotbar, and approach an enemy and hit it, now upon hitting it quickly and like REALLY quickly switch to your other weapon, it'll cause the game to register another hit making 2x the damage with one swing
I love how easy your videos are to follow along with and how you focus on the practicalities. It's helping me a TON as a new player to the game. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
I usually like to build a half height crawl space for the entire raft. Hang plants under, then place beehives on top. No bird troubles. I also run plumbing through it, so I can hide everything.
That is what I am doing with my current build. Started a new build for Chapter 3, partly because of the new stuff, but mainly because there were unsightly pipes everywhere cluttering my raft. I am not even half way done with the new raft, but I like the cleaner look of hiding unsightly piping etc under a half height crawl space.
for me the best trick my friend told me is, shark always spawn at the 2x2 foundation and he always swim around that spot, by that my friend always anchore at the non resource side of any island, so we can freely gather stuff at another side.
for shark aggro avoidance you can also just parry his bite with a spear strike. if you hit him before he gets too close (by starting the attack as soon as he opens his jaws), his hit will be cancelled and he will have to do his usual loop before trying to bite you again. you can basically do the same steps as in the tip except you swap shark bait with 2-3 good timed spears. (i just dont like spending time for the shark bait)
I try not to use the floating floor method as 1 patch could destroy my whole ship. Also, destroying walls or whatever a chest is attached too, it also destroys the chest, leaving no contents of said chest(s) behind. Learned the hard way.
I did that recently (destroyed walls that a chest was on), and the chest and all its contents dropped to the ground. I had to frantically place chests down, and fill them with anything I could find, to avoid the items despawning. I honestly don't know how long the despawn timer is, so maybe I could have taken my time, but I didn't want to risk it. Point is, I destroyed a wall, but my chests, and the items inside, weren't lost.
@@g3synth205 Yea not sure where mine went. Might of been because it was the bottom floor and the items got picked up by the water(if waves clip the boat, the items get taken by said water). Thankfully it wasn't major items, just island exploration extra gear. Shovels, nets, launcher, etc.
Yup, got feathers and drumsticks for days, Coconut Chicken ftw. Luckily you can buy cave shrooms from the vendors so you dont need to get lucky raiding islands.
There are some ocasionl bugs in this game so even fool protection of crops some times dont work but its realy rare You can place pipes higher without placing additional floors by placing piece on top of the one youll remove later
I was playing Raft yesterday and I wanted an apiary for my bees, but you cant stack bee hives easily... so I took some time and experimented with them, turns out they fit ontop and underneath a roof piece, and all of that can fit under a 1 1/2 tall walls. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out, saves so much space
I really hope the devs release some sort of new content for the game. I captured 10 Llama after update 3 hit thinking I would need massive titanium for crafting and such...and while I used quit a bit. It was mostly just QoL upgrades.
In the beginning I recommend having a cheap hook for hauling stuff in when on the raft and an upgraded one to use for mining when on an island to save durability plus metals on the long term. Same goes for having a cheap spear for regular shark attacks on the raft while drifting (as it is always a three hitter whatever upgrade) and use an upgraded one when on an island, which will result in more shark kills when docked granting you free loot time in the reef around; metal. As for the axe I almost never find it useful and a bit of a waste in resources like metal early on. But regarding the foundations armor, go metal🤘! Great vid!
2 hits iron spear, not three... And if you're fast enough it will just cause 10% damage, 3 hits will cause 20%-25% damage, so yes its worth to use the iron spear in every moment.
#1 I feel like it's wrong not to talk about how beneficial it can be to just slaughter seagulls for food and feathers! I like having them visit. An additional tip that I wasn't aware of, until watching another of your videos, is that you can kill seagulls right in the early early game by throwing stones at them! Also, a tip I'd add is to empty vulnerable plots of crops before you leave the raft to visit an island. replant when you return to the raft.
Very nice tips, ty. I noticed you can put bird nests on the wall the other day, now they are everywhere on my Raft 😊. About the pipes, is there a way to lead them through a block vertically? I managed to lead a waterpipe through a regular ceiling but it keeps glitching out after a while.
I think best food to eat is Vegetable Soup (also gives bonus hunger) you only need to farm clay for it (requires 2 clay to make 4 bowls) It only needs 2RawBeet & 2Potatoes which can be planted easily
So I definitely googled “Do you have to fortify every piece of your foundation?” and saw posts from 2-3 years ago saying you do-- I’ve now fortified all 99 foundation. RIP me
@Alidove any way you can do a more in-depth video about pipes/farm/biofuel setup. Trying to figure out a way to get a pipe through a floor without having some kind of opening
nice guide. I'm trying to 100% the achievements. have you got any suggestion to get the 365 day achievement as fast as possible other than just sleeping as much as I can?
I just realized 3rd person exists lol. My buddy wanted to use 3rd, its not as smooth to play in as grounded's 3rd person, but it is helpful for a different perspective and to see what my character looks like, or for chopping trees, seems like in rooms in boat 1st is best. Also I know its costly to make cross beams, but I like the way it looks to have the beams in the ceiling, Im working on an epic pirate ship, and it would save me mats, but Im having fun with it.
I always build 1and1/2 wall tall for the first floor. Then I cover it with flooring and do another 1/2 wall height before I make the floor for the seconf floor of the raft. So my second floor starts at a height of 2 full walls, but between the floors I always have the 1/2 wall high crawl area for piping. Also if you place the antenas on the outside of the raft in the height of the floor 1&1/2 walls up and the reciver on the floor 2 walls up it will completely hide the ugly wires going from the antenna to the reciver
Did Jeremiah/Bruce used to attack interior foundations? In a previous update when I started playing I armored my perimeter and I swear he/she/they started going after the nets on the inside! So I stopped bothering and just kept replacing regular foundations since they are pretty cheap.
6:04 wait lit me see if I figured this one out. Is this a case the the shark is anchored to the raft and will not leave it unless following you? 6:53 ok should have waited and this is awesome to know
Pretty good narrator, was surprised when I saw only 12k subscribers. You should spend some extra time dwelling in the newbie areas of trending games and making guides for them. I promise you would consistently get more subscribers as time goes on. 5:50 Are you sure that's still true? I saw a comment elsewhere that looting (or not) no longer affects respawn timing at all. You might want to double check that the head trick still works.
The sprinkler thing didn't work for me. I tried it before because I wanted to be efficient. So I put one in front of a wall with 6 basic crop plots attached to it but the sprinkler did not water all of them. And its not the whole crop plot that is not watered but only one of the potatoes planted from each of the 6 crop plots did not get water. I know this because when I point the cursor to the plot (after the sprinkler activated) it still says that it needs water and I can see that two of the potatoes are wet but one of them is not. I thought that maybe putting them close together blocked the water so from then on I just spread them across the floor and tried to fit as many as I can in the 3x3 spot.
for grass it is best just to have it where rain can get it, its a waste of batterys to use the sprinkler when the rain does it for you. If you have a big enough area say 3x3 for one animal should be good enough for them and the rain. and for plants its less expensive to just quickly do it yourself. Ive saved time not making batterys or the effort it takes to charge them because you dont get the windmill charger till later and before that you have to use biofuel. Also use those burnt out batterys for your headlamps or things that require batterys they will be fully charged when you make the item. You can then use that prior charge for something else. Also if you just make dishes you can get tons of food points from those making the need for tons of food less. I rarely need to get things from my garden now with me just cooking meat that I just get from the storyline and useing dishes.
The most important resources you have to harvest is sand and clay. Everything else can be bought from traders or found in things. Sand is needed for honey which makes biofuels. Clay for the bowls for infinite vegetable soup. Cluck clucks are the most important animals for the insane amount of biofuel they make. Goats are useless. Llamas are decent for their wool which makes a lot of recycling blocks for trading.
You talking about Biofuel and saying Goats are useless. Chickens are important for healing. Milk from Goats is the more efficient raw food (1 only to complete the biofuel) Lamas are insane, 8 wool = 1 recycling cube.
@@4vamin319 Clucks eggs stack on pickup to 2 and stack in inventory. Which it turns is more useful for biofuel and healing. A bonus is the grass and clucks hitbox can be placed in half the height abling you to make compact bases. So you can stack them in a small area only use 1 sprinkler. Goats require buckets, they require more time consumption where that can be used elsewhere. If you use the new smoothies they added just to make goats more useful it consumes the bucket and milk buckets cannot stack. Most players with over 100 hours played don't really use milk for anything. At that point a goat is simply for the role-playing and their cuteness.
@@Mapleaple the Bucket isn’t used when you use the milk as an raw food for biofuel, and only one milk complete entirely the raw food. Again goat are still better than cuckler in every points. And I have thousands of hours on the game. Plus, taking eggs is annoying af.
@@4vamin319 Man you should know then that goats suck and with costs to profit is annoying. Buckets, space, uses. Plus with red carpet stacking which all players with 1,000s of hours use now the goats are obsolete.
Similar to the plastic to scrap upgrade, the titanium hook will throw a little further, and will pull in a little faster as well. It's about the same amount as the first upgrade was, in terms of distance and speed. Overall if you don't do a lot of trading or treasure hunting, it might be best to just stick to the scrap hook, it's plenty good already.
how does the receiver work to get you out of the first area. I keep going to the same islands. yeah all the stuff has reset but I'm not getting any where. what am i not doing to progress?
Are you changing the frequency on the receiver? When you finish the Radio Tower you should have a new four digit number to put on the receiver to show the new location.
So if you make a solid floor using the floating triangle glitch that I also demo'd in this video, then place pipes both above and below the floor, the pipes will go straight through!
Can someone tell me how do i make my foundation floor on my raft look like hers? How to upgrade it? , is it a mod ? I can only find foundation armor. Or the upgrade unlocked later in the game?
Hey, i really like your content, i just started playing raft around 1 week ago and wanted to try the triangle floating floors glitch, but i couldnt place the triangles next to each other. Is the glitch patched already or am i doing something wrong? It just not possible to place this way in my world
Try to rotate them by pressing R. I think you can also mirror them, but I don't know the corresponding button. But you can look for that in your settings.
The seagulls annoyed me at first...or, well, they are always annoying. But you can use that annoyance to your benefit. I actually want them to land on the crops. Seagulls are a good and easy (once you get the hang of it) resource - for both meat, and especially feathers. While traveling, not near islands, it is usually the same seagull or seagulls landing/messing with you're crops again and again, similar to the shark. So two or three hits with the spear, and they die. Yes, the spear. You could use the bow, but I at least don't waste arrows on them. So spear works fine :)
I just started raft, this is really usefull, it's a pity I have already played a while and I have no idea which are my 4 center pieces of the raft!!! anyway to understand that? also is there a way to turn the raft? because when you hit island the raft turns and then it's not going forward straight but it goes on it's side which is really annoying :D
you can remove them but the middle is where the debris is spawned off of, so if you are wayyyy off center from the original 4 you might not get trash or might not float into it the same
The number of times people try to tell me that the farm hut doesn't work would net me a million dollars if I was given a quarter for every one of them. It works, I've done it many times. Even online. Yet still you'll get someone saying it doesn't even while watching it work perfectly well. I suspect the reason is a leftover from early access when, I believe, there was a time that seagulls didn't care about things like walls and roofs.
You can completely negate shark damage if you time your attack right. You just have to wait till it opens its mouth, swim backwards and then stab it. If you get it right and get used to it, you can practically ignore it, as i do.
You don’t have to swim at all! I just float in place and let Bruce come at me. If you turn around as he passes and stab you get an extra hit each pass too.
Not really if you want to play the full game. There's a creative mode where he still exists swimming around your raft, but he won't ever attack you or the raft. You can even kill him (without him defending). But creative mode is stationary, basically just for building your dream raft since all supplies are available at no cost. The raft just sits in the ocean and never moves. You can't sail around, visit islands or experience the story. So, if you want to play with the story progression (or without mods) then you're going to have to deal with the shark and other hazards. But honestly, once you craft the metal bow and arrow he becomes very easy to kill. You shoot an arrow from a few feet away underwater and he veers off immediately, a few sweeps and then he's cooking on your grill. And by stationing your raft a certain ways away from where you'll need to swim for materials (like on the other side of an island) you're pretty much outside his attack range. It's a fun game! I initially thought it might be too simplistic after playing games like Subnautica, but it's pretty addictive because it's easier and repetitive.
There is peaceful mode. The shark and other hostile mobs are still there but they won't attack you or the raft. But be warned just because they won't attack you on site. If you attack them, they will fight back.
The shark hunting the guy at the radio tower was named Bruce, by that other guy. Not the same shark. Our shark reconstitutes it's body in less than 5 minutes after we kill it and harvest it for meat!!!
The shark is nothing. Swin towards the shark and as soon as it opens its mouth you hit it, once you learn it you just have to kill it every time you go to an island. Take 4 meat leaving its head behind. If you do this correctly it will dont do damage to you. Sry for my bad english.
That's for late game. No newbie needs to be using a chest storing up heads. Resources are more important. Later on, you can basically farm kill them whenever u want.

I thought that maybe putting them close together blocked the water so from then on I just spread them across the floor and tried to fit as many as I can in the 3x3 spot.
Incredible explanations as always
for grass it is best just to have it where rain can get it, its a waste of batterys to use the sprinkler when the rain does it for you.
Milk from Goats is the more efficient raw food (1 only to complete the biofuel)
Lamas are insane, 8 wool = 1 recycling cube.
I couldn't get the floating floor trick to work today, did they fix this bug?
What’s the best way for farming simple resources like plastic and planks I always have shortages
Honestly in my opinion farming wood/plastic is just easiest with the nets on your raft and just waiting
Does the titanium hook change anything from the scrap hook besides the look and durability? Me and my dad have like no titanium so we havent made one
Great guide as always
Does the shark aggro avoidance still work ?
I tried it, but Jeremiah attacked as soon as he finished the shark bait near the raft.
the sharks respawn time tip helped me alot thanks
how does the receiver work to get you out of the first area. I keep going to the same islands. yeah all the stuff has reset but I'm not getting any where. what am i not doing to progress?
Are you changing the frequency on the receiver?
When you finish the Radio Tower you should have a new four digit number to put on the receiver to show the new location.
Ok thanks I'll make sure I do that
@@dawntowe5799 if not, maybe check the radio tower for the post it note at the top of it.
Saving the sharkheads is worth for the refiner after you unlock it 🤙 all trophy heads have a decent worth when filling it.
I would advise you look at Z1 gaming chapter 3 episode 1 cause in that video the seagulls DO get in the enclosed area where his crops are
Good stuff, thanks!
Anyone know where the music at the end of the video comes from? It sounds super familiar and I just can't place it.
It's the Steam Gardens theme from Super Mario Odyssey!
Thank you, it helped but i had a little bit of problems. Good Tutorial
The first shark you encounter is the real Bruce. All others are Jeremiah, Johan, Steve, or in my case Kevan.
is there a trick for getting pipes through floors? or are we stuck with dealing with holes in the floor? :(
They can actually go through floors made using the triangle glitch!
@@Alidove_ Can you elaborate? ;u;
So if you make a solid floor using the floating triangle glitch that I also demo'd in this video, then place pipes both above and below the floor, the pipes will go straight through!
@@Alidove_ OHHHHH IT WORKS! Thank you! :D
Do we have to keep the original 4 square??
Some good tips here
Thank you. Very helpful.
Newbie here. How long and wide should I make the raft?
heads are actually quite useful when it comes to the biofuel refiners
Can someone tell me how do i make my foundation floor on my raft look like hers? How to upgrade it? , is it a mod ? I can only find foundation armor. Or the upgrade unlocked later in the game?
When you're selecting build pieces, down the bottom is a hammer, go there, replace with solid wood.
LOVE TIS VID CANT WAIT FOR MORE LUV YOUR CONTENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT THE SIGMA
Hello did the shark eat the raft when is it protecting with shield
Hey, i really like your content, i just started playing raft around 1 week ago and wanted to try the triangle floating floors glitch, but i couldnt place the triangles next to each other. Is the glitch patched already or am i doing something wrong? It just not possible to place this way in my world
Try to rotate them by pressing R.
I think you can also mirror them, but I don't know the corresponding button. But you can look for that in your settings.
So helpful.... Thank you
The seagulls annoyed me at first...or, well, they are always annoying.
From what I've seen and done, you need the steering wheel.
Muchas gracias reina.
Muy buenos tips
What were to happen if you removed those 4 squares but still had a raft?
you can remove them but the middle is where the debris is spawned off of, so if you are wayyyy off center from the original 4 you might not get trash or might not float into it the same
@@i_shoot_stuff alr I'm good then because I built behind it
The number of times people try to tell me that the farm hut doesn't work would net me a million dollars if I was given a quarter for every one of them.
It works, I've done it many times. Even online. Yet still you'll get someone saying it doesn't even while watching it work perfectly well.
I suspect the reason is a leftover from early access when, I believe, there was a time that seagulls didn't care about things like walls and roofs.
Keep shark heads they can be used in the biofuel producer
You can completely negate shark damage if you time your attack right.
You just have to wait till it opens its mouth, swim backwards and then stab it. If you get it right and get used to it, you can practically ignore it, as i do.
You don’t have to swim at all! I just float in place and let Bruce come at me. If you turn around as he passes and stab you get an extra hit each pass too.
@@bombadillo yea, exactly. I just find it easier to be prepared if i swim back when he’s going at me.
YIPPEE LOVE YOU !!
We call our Shark Sheila xD
1 high pillars cost 2 nails too since update 3, don't they?
Yes
i cant get the triangle foundation trick to work :(
Thanks!
Was thinking of getting this, isn´t there a no-shark mode?
I put my cropplots on the bottom third, middle, and top third of a wall and then put a roof above it, to stop seagulls
You can use the shark head for bio fule
Tip: If you have a taco, then find another taco. You will now have 2 tacos. Yum. I like tacos.
The background music is so familiar but I cannot put my finger on where I know it from D:
The shark hunting the guy at the radio tower was named Bruce, by that other guy. Not the same shark. Our shark reconstitutes it's body in less than 5 minutes after we kill it and harvest it for meat!!!
Sharkheads are good for Biofule.
The shark is nothing. Swin towards the shark and as soon as it opens its mouth you hit it, once you learn it you just have to kill it every time you go to an island. Take 4 meat leaving its head behind.
If you do this correctly it will dont do damage to you.
Sry for my bad english.
well you taught me some new things.
Day 31 of telling Ali we appreciate them and their content! :)
wth youtube is broken, u should have like a million subs
I wish you can move pipes under the raft
lumberjack skin woot
Fun fact! You can use shark heads to make bio-fuel instead of wasting more readily available food. ☺
Yes you can but you don't get that many to make using heads a viable solution. The best item for bio-fuel are eggs.
@@CosmicGoku529 I don't know what you're talking about - I have way too many shark heads constantly laying around. I kill the shark constantly.
@@bewbeezy Well I guess if you are constantly killing the sharks, it might be viable.
I noticed different people have different names for the shark.
pipes go through walls. my life is infinitely better now.
i need an Spanish version of this
BEST HELP !! SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE BOYS REVIEWS LOLOL GIRLS RULE
NEVER leave the heads on the sharks- save them for later, they make a TON of biofuel-
That's for late game. No newbie needs to be using a chest storing up heads. Resources are more important.
Later on, you can basically farm kill them whenever u want.
