      Do you know how to change triangular floor pattern? Like to swap the lining pattern so it can match another floors. Sometimes the direction doesn't match and it creates cross pattern.

      you're wrong about the proximity of things to the crop plots.. you can have a seagull proof room right next to the crop plots.. place some crop plots down on your first floor then build a seagull proof room right next to them but one level up.. mine have never been attacked by seagulls

    I learnt a couple of tips, thankyou.
    I don't have too many rare ones to share in return but those who are new may find these methods I use, useful:
    1. Fortifying the outside edge of your raft with armour will stop the shark attacking it (1 metal ingots and 2 nails per floor). If you have a hole without the surrounding floor fortified though, (like a hole for a big anchor) it'll go for that section unless you fortify that area too.
    Bonus tip is to place a triangle half floor on the outer edge of your raft for a low cost way to bring the shark back to attacking it.
    2. Placing collection nets every other square instead of next to each other will save on resources early game. Unless your net is full, if items float in between 2 of them, they're usually caught by one of them.
    3. I like to keep a stone anchor at the ready to ensure a fast stop when you need it. Ensure it's on an armoured section so the shark doesn't eat it while you're parked. If it's a solo armoured floor, be careful as if the shark destroys all the exposed floor around it, you'll loose it.
    4. Looting under and around small islands is easier at night as most lootable items will illuminate (might be dependant on game graphics level settings though?) - just be careful of pufferfish as they are harder to see.
    5. Also when looting under islands, you'll have less bother from the shark if you loot the other side of it as it will usually then be too far away from you. Just be cautious as you move back around to your raft again.
    You could always continue sailing and re-anchor to the other side later if you want to loot where you first anchored, or kill the shark and take a 3 minute opportunity to loot before it respawns. I like to scope the area a little before I kill it to make better use of the time.
    Hope that helped someone!

      @robertnett9793 Год назад +2

      Thanks. They are pretty interesting.
      I might add this two:
      1. Want get rid of the shark for longer? (for mining underwater for example) throw a shark bait next to your raft, take a pointy stick and wait, till the shark attacks the bait. Poke the shark. It'll swim away but return after a few seconds. Rince and repeat until the shark is dead.
      2. Harvest the shark meat but don't touch the skull. The dead shark will despawn after ~ 3 minutes. And the counter for the next shark spawn starts after this - so you gain about 8 minutes or so of undisturbed mining.

    • @Arnorian
      @Arnorian Год назад +1

      Number 1 was a bug that Bruce would go for a hole in the middle of the raft, it will not do that anymore. So only need to fortify the outside with as many holes in the middle as you like. Also there is a layout that you only have to fortify every 3 foundations. (xoooxoooxooox, x representing the fortify) and Bruce wont attack your raft either.

    You can actually save the game after digging up the treasure and just before you open it, rather than having to dig it up every time you reload your game. The yield isn't decided until you pick it up so this may help get things to go a little quicker then having to dig it up every time.

    11:00 i prefer eggs, just for the inventory space. buckets (of milk) are very inventory heave, and 7 eggs also fills the refiner (vs 4 buckets of milk), so imo, 3 eggs more for the trade-off of having 20 per inventory slot, thus almost 3 full refiners in 1 inventory slot vs 4 inventory slots for 1 refiner, is definitly worth it

    • @Queer_Nerd_For_Human_Justice

      @@seeshellgaming6883 Maybe they mean that sometimes horizontal pillars refuse to support a floor. This happens when the pillars are placed "backwards" or otherwise not connected to the floor through a chain of supports. The "origin" of the pillar, aka the pivot point, the end you stick on to something else... that end has to be touching something that it also supported properly. Otherwise occasionally it will refuse to hold floors.

    Most helpful to me- Better and more contained flower house for honey, not having other plots near my gull proof room, Only needing 4 plots for 12 beehives (I have almost 20 boxes of flowers for 4 hives because I had no idea how the mechanics worked), scroll wheel and shifting inventory, rerolling digs, and milk for biofuel.
    I mostly just drink the milk from my goats so I never need to cook, but using them for a free respawning biofuel source without needing to stop to hunt the shark is super useful.
    I'm looking forward to maximizing my hives so I can justify having the maximum 4 engines at some point without much concern for how much fuel they consume. I just need a more efficient method for getting Sand for Glass for Honey jars than just diving around islands

    Cooking pot is broken imo. You can pop 2 bowls before exploring and don't even have to worry about it. Some items are too rare to use but stuff like jam drumstick is really good. I do reserve them for trips only if I am low on them. Use those puffer heads for it :D
    A few more tips:
    Items you will not have enough of late game are scrap and metal. However make sure to keep at least 20 medium chests of wood for your inevitable renovation to solid wood. (Early-mid game just save everything in as many chests as you need)
    Titanium is not as useful once you have enough to craft everything, but until then, hop on every island you come by. Just keep a shovel and detector ready and drop what u were doing for a bit.
    But the biggest challenge of this game is setting goals to keep it interesting after finishing the story

    • @seeshellgaming6883
      @seeshellgaming6883  2 года назад +2

      I will say i have never had a problem with metal. Right now i have over 400 metal ingots and that is after reinforcing all of my foundations. You are right though. The one resource is scrap. It is an absolute grind later on. Also. do you have an overabundance of metal hinges? I have about 200 on my raft no joke. just from picking them up.

    • @OscarLT321
      @OscarLT321 2 года назад +1

      @@seeshellgaming6883 I guess after reinforcing there is not much need for it outside of tools. Scrap is really a grind, I wondered if the yacht story gave enough scrap to revisit but I doubt it will be faster than sailing+diving.
      And yes, I have so many hinges I don't have a clue what to do with it. Bolts you use for tools, but hinges just don't get used. Have more hinges than metal atm

    Vertical beams can span ANY distance with only one support. Put them in rows or a grid every 2 squares and you can do ANY size of boat with no interior supports.
    Bee hive can be a full floor above the planter boxes. I have a 3x3 room with the sprinkler, 2 medium and 4 small plots around the outside edge of the interior with grass plots under them and a sprinkler. I ran beams across the rood so I could fit 3 floor tiles up there in the middle. Place the 3 bee hives on top and add a peaked roof over it (you can not place the beehives after you put the roof on. The only problem here is you can not collect the honey through the window. You actually have to go into the room... which will have animals that want to escape. The birds will not touch the flowers unless you mount the planter boxes on the walls. Advanced planter boxes are best as you can fit more. 3 bee hives with 3 honey each is plenty to run one engine. 2 will likely be enough actually as that will give you 1 gar of honey every 8 minutes (3 would be 5:20 per).
    Yes you can seagull proof and you do not have to follow ANY of what you said except about the walls, door, and roof. You can use ANY wall (palm or wood, window or no window) and any door (wood or palm and you can have a flat or peaked roof. The door has to be there, but it does not even have to be shut. You can fill that room with planters and grass plots and surround it with trees, just do not put the planter boxes on the wall. They can be on the floor right up against the wall, just not mounted to the wall. Done. That is it. I have 10 tree plots around my "greenhouse" with my animals inside along with 2 medium and 4 small planter boxes and 6 grass plots... and 3 bee hives... all in a 3x3 building.
    My biggest hint for beginners is NEVER go above 100 squares on the first floor so you can use 1 engine. Not only do you save resource for bio-fuel, but you also do not waste resource building the extra engines, building the large raft, or armor more floors. I have everything plus lots of furniture and decorations and it is not cramped at all and I only have 57 squares.
    Just buy titanium from the trader. You get the recycler VERY early in the game and by the time you need titanium you should have unlocked tiers 3 goods. 1 cube is 30 palm, feathers, or plastic. Rocks take 50 and everything else is less, like wood 20 and bolts and hinges take only 4. By the time you go from one vender to the next you likely have collected enough junk in your nets to make several cubes. You can buy 9 at each vender for 9 cubes. It does take 16 cubes to unlock the tiers, but like I said you get the plans at the radio tower... the first location in Chapter 1.
    The trick with the menus is handy. I only knew about the right click for one and not about the rest.

    Is there any other way to find more metal faster? On average I'm lucky to find 6 at an island but to reinforce my raft which isn't even very big I need tons of Iron Ingots plus more for other things. Or do I just have to hit every single island over hours of play just to get a decent amount? My raft is currently 14x14 foundation-wise and I know I only need to do the sides but its still a lot of metal. Scrap is easy to get and I find more copper then metal.

    I love the triangle roof trick, will definitely try that as I currently have a long building that is 7 (5, 2nd floor) tiles wide
    For the seagull trick I do have those crops near my "green house" what I did was build 3-5 nests around/near it so they stay sit and don't bother. So far it worked for me. It could also be that all my small crops are hanging on the walls. I've never seen them attack those (it could be just my luck)

    i use triangular foundation to expand my raft on early to mid game, when its hard to spare resources for a full foundation. sharks only attack the one half of the foundation plus if you cant be bothered to defend your raft, just break the half being attacked and get the exact amount you used to make it, cost one plank less than repairing with hammer.

      yes, chicken eggs are very low though in how much biofuel they produce. milk from the goat is more than double of a singular egg (I think). but I like having goats because if you drink the milk yourself and never use the bucket in a recipe then it actually gives your character a food buff.

    Nice tipps and I thought I seen it all lol. Anyway is it just for asthetics or why is every bottom level tile framed with steel? I have seen this alot and I am sure with your experience you know it is not necessary to make your raft shark proof. It just seems a waste of resources when all you need is to frame the outter rim of your raft to keep the shark away.
    Here is an important thing to note for starters: When you start your raft those 4 tiles are the center of the world. Resources always spawn and your raft floats towards them at the center point. This means if you start building your raft from the starting 4 tiles in one direction half of those resources will pass by your boat. 30 tiles is enough to capture all resources so for example if you build one side of your boat to be wide enough to capture all resources you need to build 15 tiles to the left and 15 tiles to the right from your starting point. If you build all 30 only to one side then your ship will only capture half of the resources. At the beginning I would suggest to build something onto that center so you know where it is until your base is complete.

    • @NotSoGrumpyCat
      @NotSoGrumpyCat 2 года назад

      Great tip on the resources. As for the reinforced tiles, earlier versions of the game made the shark attack all tiles if they werent reinforced. A later update made it a lot easier by just reinforcing the outter frame. Maybe thats why you have seen a lot of rafts with full steel tiles.

    • @reinerhoch1357
      @reinerhoch1357 2 года назад

      @@NotSoGrumpyCat Thanks for clearing that up. I think this should be pointed out by content creators or newbies will copy this building style and waste precious resources in early game.

    • @reinerhoch1357
      @reinerhoch1357 2 года назад

      Too add another thing about those first center tiles: The shark is also bound to those first starting tiles. He can follow you far out into the water but once you leave the water he will go back to patrol those center tiles. So if you anchor your raft far enough away from an island all you have to do is swim on that island. As soon as you touch ground the shark that may have followed you will go back to the raft and you can farm all resources without having to watch out for him. It takes some time and feeling to know just about how far to stay away from an island to not have to swim to far and to have the shark leaving you alone.

    • @jaspermartin7444
      @jaspermartin7444 2 года назад

      well.. people build on to their little beginning 4 tiles, and they have to reinforce those. And then they build on to that, and then need to reinforce their latest foundations. Not sure how to deal with it otherwise? I suppose someone could wait to build until they have enough materials to build 50 foundations all at once but... personally i feel cramped on the beginning four tiles and want to expand even a few tiles as soon as possible.

    • @reinerhoch1357
      @reinerhoch1357 2 года назад

      @@jaspermartin7444 I am not sure what you are saying. I have never reinforced my beginning tiles or even the first expansion tiles. I personally have a pretty good idea of the size I want to build and I will not reinforce any tile until I have reached the size of my plan. Off course this means fighting off the shark or having to loose a tile here and there. But at some point loosing a tile is not an issue just replace it. I am sure thou that every rafter feels as you do and pretty much the first thing is to increase your size as 4 tiles is nothing any rafter wants to live on.
