I actually think it’s genius - the game has an achievement to capture a ton of animals, which isn’t too hard to do, but it’s difficult to have the space and resources to raise a ton of them. I will honestly feel better about killing them and putting their name tags to good use rather than leaving them to starve on the island I just pillaged.
@@clawsonbournegaming5491 I partially agree with that. But why would you leave animals on island to starve when they can do that on raft? 😁 Besides, you'll always have name tag ready on your raft that way, animals won't die from starvation (for now).
If not fed, animals will simply stop producing their resource, but in previous versions, if not fed, they would starve. Large Islands also tended to have more animals than dirt needed for grass plots to feed them, so I wouldn’t want to bring them aboard where they’d put a strain on the feed.
This video just blew my mind. Me and my friend have been playing this game since it was still in alpha back in the day and we still play it now. We consider ourselves "raft veterans" and feel proud of our builds yet 80% of this video is completely new information to me. Props dude you seriously need more subscribers.
I agree - i finished the game in early release and revisiting now with the new episode, but there are still things to learn I see. Also, there are things to relearn, apparently - so thanks for making this video, ShadowDog87!
Wasn't expecting much from this video. Started at the beginning and stayed till the end. My girlfriend and I have about 40 hours into raft and I thought I knew most about it but nearly everything you presented here is useful for me and her. Thanks for the tips and tricks!
My favorite tips of yours: 1. Double layer of roofs for seagull protection - will be super helpful for my flowers for my beehives, as I only had one before and they would frustratingly get in sometimes. 2. Waiting to harvest Bruce’s head - I was aware of using his respawn time to harvest underwater, but that extra minute or two could be invaluable. 3. Kill captured animals for name tags - The game has an achievement to capture a lot of animals, but they’re difficult to maintain, so I would end up just leaving them to starve where I found them. Killing them feels a tad more humane, even if they’re ultimately just being slaughtered for a name tag. 4. Keep 4 foundations between armor - I started playing many updates ago when Bruce could attack any foundation or net at will, which meant I needed to prioritize armoring up my central foundations like my engine etc. Being able to space them out on the edge will be convenient. Thank you for the video! I haven’t been back to check out the Renovation Update yet, so I wanted to see what was up. Looking forward to Chapter 3!
love the cut to the dolphins! great vid man. Your garden is insane. I'm gonna modify mine now to better hide the space behind my sprinklers. awesome tips for even vet players. I like the strat of keeping Bruce near your raft so you can harvest more!. works like a charm.
I have sooo many tips but my first two would be to use triangle foundations to reduce the bitten parts of your raft (half of the foundation is gone when its bitten basically) - when you newly start the game And the second would be when attacking Bruce go one spear and two machetes. If you're lucky enough you'll get 3 machete hits which will kill him super fast Great video btw! I'm a huge Raft fan and been playing it since it came out before even on Steam. Yet I learned one or two things from you, thanks! Nice effort put, respect
You have a talent for making jokes and funny phrases without breaking the pacing or tone of your narration. They flow naturally, rather than coming across as stilted or forced. It's not an easy skill. Well done! I had to stop the video to like and subscribe at "if that razer-toothed rascal does mistake your raft for a waffle'. Thanks for a entertaining and extremely informative video.
Thank you sm. I had no idea about the invisible barrier around the reinforced foundations or how to stop those pesky seagulls. You've made my rafting experience just a little bit more streamlined. thanks, much love
Great video! One thing I´ve seen somewhere else, is that if you want Bruce out of your hair, just stay 20 seconds on dry land, and he´ll just circle the raft until you get within his range underwater again. There seems to be a connection between you and the raft, and he´ll always make you his 1st priority if you get in the water. But if you stay inland, this connection is apparently broken, and he´ll keep to the raft until you´re in his face again.
Nice video. I found a way to cover pipes through the floor with two tall tables half a floor below and a carpet. You can then walk over the tile and it also looks clean.
Wow, dude, this is amazing tips! I am a beginner and this video discovered so many things to me. I guess it's the most useful tips that I've seen so far. TY
OH MY GOD Loved the vid, sooo nice of you to put the animal to sleep before getting the tag. and the floating floor tip is super usefullll. Thanks a bunch!!!!!
Thankyou for this, i will be taking inspiration (100% copying) from your chest storage setup, I was struggling thinking how i can label the chests and hoping there would be a smaller label to unlock later in the game
Great video. I'm still early in the game and used a bit trying to reinforce my raft. Your method says I can go 5 spots without needing needing to add another reinforced piece correct? How does this affect collection nets? Will one reinforced piece protect 5 collection nets?
Great video. Very impressed with your presentation for how small of a channel this is. Keep up the good work and I'm sure that statement will be very outdated!
Piping to resource consumers works not only through walls, but through their floors too. This works with all of them I tried so far - water tank, sprinkler, fuel tank and the battery charger. They won't look connected from the top, but the pipe type from below will change to the "connected" output despite looking like it's connecting to nothing in midair. To cover pipes from the floor below, you can also use the small gate to cover them in addition to the rope fence, wooden rail and upper diagonal wall. This used to work with regular doors too but the update changed that and it's been iffy whether or not that works.
Hi there, nice video with some helpful tips! Your bee hive barn design is awesome lol, love the paint job! Some recommendations, a better mic, some transitions and maybe a lil background music to break it up a bit? Other than that; great video friend, keep up the good work.
This was a helpful video! Your storage ideas is really good because my storage sucks😂😂. Your name tags is also cool, but poor animals😭. I'm also at the point where I can almost get bee's and honey and I want to create like a '' room" for the bee's and your design looks pretty cool👍

I also learned that when your hook falls right in front of you, select a different tool, then go back to the hook, and it gets reset :) Edit: "Might want to look away for this one... OO! Look! Dolphins!.... Now he is asleep" XD I think my faviorate part was the Bees and flowers. Good to know about how to keep Steve and Patrica off them lol
to not break your pinky finger while playing raft for hours, like you said you can toggle sprint but another way is to change the keybind key or set the alternate key of "sprint" to "w", there's very little reason to not run all the time
Is the fortify every four outside foundations still valid in The Final Chapter version? i havent attempted it yet, but curious to know if its still do-able.
Hello shadowdog, thank you for this tutorial. I have a question, I'll appreciate it if you can give me the solution. I can't seem to find a way to upgrade my foundation without destroying them first. I mean I want to upgrade my basic foundation to a strong foundation. I believe there should be a way to do this without destroying the basic foundation and then putting down the strong one. Is there a way to do this?? Thank you in advance
Hello! That’s a great question and it’s certainly possible to upgrade foundations without destroying the old ones. When you hold down RMB while using the building hammer, look at the options at the very bottom of the menu. There are options there to upgrade. 🐺
does the fortified panels have to stick out of the raft like in the video? cause i tried it in a normal straight edge and it did not work. Shark just atacked the next floor
Another tip, when you harvest something (plant, flower, food, water), immediately replace it. On long missions take food and water with you and have food and water waiting for you on the raft. Also as soon as you can, get yourself some leather body armor. Flowers can be used to make paint and always render seeds.
Regarding no-pillars floors, does using 2 triangle floors instead of 1 regular floor impact FPS more? I already had a big hit to FPS with a 30 long raft, 3 story, 10 wide body with 30 wide collection wing.
That's a great question! My PC is a bit of a monster, and my raft isn't insanely big so I don't notice any FPS drops on mine. I only use the floating floors in the house on my raft.
Hey! My main raft is 25 wide x 28 deep. I've got 1 corner that isn't finished yet, so I'm missing 58.5 tiles there. My raft would be exactly 700 tiles square, but with that unused corner, it's 641.5. Thanks for the question!
You know, frequently I would deliberately bait a bird into trying for something like beets. Once lured into the area, some quick work with your spear, and now you have winner winner chicken dinner! Since seagulls are an infinitely renewable resource, this can be used to keep yourself fed for effectively nothing other than a bit of quick movement. The beet won't be going anywhere if you don't harvest it, after all, and no longer needs fresh water once fully grown.
Definitely get the scrap hook as quickly as you can. Also, in the early game, set up your nets in a straight row and try not to let your raft turn by hitting an island. That'll maximize your nets surface area in the trash path. 🐺
The toggle shift key is great but my hands are such that I cannot use my pinky finger to do that ... is there a key that can be reached with index finger that I can remap and not mess up my game function ... I have tried the t key but I just got dual keys that both do the same thing and when I try to jab with a weapon it opens the notebook instead
you can have pipes go through the floor by using half floor tiles, place all the pipes, remove that one pip coming up on the second floor, add the half floors then place the pipe back
I accidentally found out that you can water two levels of whatever if you put your sprinkler up half a floor. I built a second story farm and the sprinkler covers the top and bottom levels.
I've never seen anyone using animals to tag chests. That is both useful and funny, but what impressed me is your hilarious presentation 😂
Thanks! My friend, Ana, uses the nametags a lot on her raft and I'm always bugging her about her animal cruelty. Haha.
lmaooo
