This increases our body's energy demands so we burn more calories, even when we're resting.

@@matheusvivan3434 Not much! You?
Hey, do you think I can gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, or should I stick to cycles of one at a time?
@@gnes04 You can, but gaining muscle while losing overall WEIGHT is generally considered harder than just doing one at a time.
@@HybridCalisthenics so could you give me any pointers on what I should do first? I'm fairly athletic, but not very muscular. I could stand to lose a few kgs, and need to gain muscle as well. Love your content by the way:)

Try boxing, it burns a ton of fat.
I didn’t realize this until this happened to me a couple of times:
I ate a ton of food (I was hungry) and then I remembered that I had boxing training to do at the gym so I went there. By the time the 2 hour workout ended I was hungry as hell.
So Boxing/Kickboxing burns a ton of calories, eat healthy with it and you will see results

- just wanna say for everyone that IS trying to lose weight, the whole exercising is gonna help, and it just sure is good for health! But the most important part of losing weight IS nutrition. Something like 70-80 % of the strategy should focuse on cutting out trans fat and high insuline spikers, sugary foods.
For some it will be easy, for others, like me who has been trying for a couple of years, it won’t
Have a beautiful day, to quote Hampton!
Hampton does a very good job supporting “body positivity” and masking people less harsh on themselves while also advocating fitness and staying at a healthy weight. Very rare these days
extremely rare and much-needed.
Hearing this from a highly positive non-condescending pro who doesn’t think everyone should look like mr universe makes me actually want to listen to your advice and better myself. Thanks for being you, dude
Ive been biking and working on my body a lot this year and have lost 65 pounds so far! Im down to 180, struggling to lose the last bit on my belly and sides, still working hard at it and won’t be giving up any time soon. Thank you for the videos, they’ve definitely been helping me along my journey :)

progress?
@@s0litud3GT My journey isn’t where i thought it’d go but i feel thats how most journeys go!
I started lifting heavier weights and eating more instead of focusing so much on eating less and doing cardio.
My current weight is 220. My bench went from 115 to 205. I went from a skinny fat body with decent legs to a more built frame. I was trying so hard to lose the little bit of belly fat i had left that i thought looked huge at the time.
Once i built up my lats, shoulders, and chest the love handles and belly became insignificant.

Wow. I love him. I feel he genuinely cares!
You know it's a good day when you get a video from Hampton right after a video from Noel.
My ED finally got slightly better and I recently tried going running to improve my cardio instead of losing weight for the first time. The big error was to accept my dad biking alongside me. 5 minutes in and he says "to run better you'd have to lose some weight in your legs" and I flipped. He, alongside other factors, made my body image so bad with comments like that during my teenage years so him saying that got me pissed. But I grew up since and I signaled to him that those comments wouldn't fly anymore and also explained to him that you can't just lose weight in some parts of your body. I am at a perfectly healthy weight and I am finally almost comfortable with it. Videos like that reinforce that healthy way of thinking so thank you!
He’s right guys, gaining muscle is the #1 way to increase your resting metabolic rate.
But people dont wanna get too big
@@frednerjohnson4390 it's not like you'll get big in 1 month, or even a year from just working out constantly... it takes a lot of work, sacrifice and time to gain THAT amount of muscle you probably have in mind.

I love this channel very positive about the journey and even gives alternatives to people who might not be able to do everything
MyFitnessPal told me to eat 1,400 calories a day to lose weight which made me feel terrible and I ended up gaining weight anyway because it was unsustainable for me. So now I have gone up like a thousand calories on order to restore my metabolism and started focusing on building muscle, body recomposition, and fat loss instead of just weight loss which if done too quickly can actually damage our muscles and metabolism💯
I love it that your videos are always so upbeat and positive! We need so much positive people like you in this world. ❤

You know on the subject of jogging I'd really like to see you do some material on gradually building up to running or sprinting
That would be awesome. I've had joint pain before for running with improper form and preparation while running, a tutorial for that would be great
Start with as much walking as you can comfortably do. Do it every day and try to build up your time.
Then take a look at the Couch to 5k program (C25K). There are apps that will walk you through the timing. It’s a gentle way to get your body from no running to a 5k distance (3.1 miles) in about 9 weeks or so. Very doable, challenging but not painful. 👍🏻
@@scubasteve2189 the good news is I'm an almost compulsive pacer so I can literally walk for hours on end
@@stokerbramwell Well, you’ll have no trouble with C25K them. The biggest problem most people have is trying to run too fast. It’s jogging, not running. You should be able to speak a sentence without gasping for breath while you’re running. Then you know it’s a good pace. I also recommend you run for time intervals rather than distance intervals. It’s easier to be consistent with it. 👍🏻
@@scubasteve2189 I second C25K, I was never athletic and I was searching for a cheap sport, and a program for absolute beginner. I managed to run my first ever 5k seven weeks into the program.
Gosh I love this channel !!! Keep doing what you are doing!
This is so true, and I learned this very quickly as I was younger.
I'm going to send this to a friend who needs it.
Why am I just learning about this? I hate cardio, this makes fitness 1000x easier.
a lovely message even after so many years
Man, this man really has my respect. I mean not only is he giving valuable tips, but also cracks little jokes here and there.
Hi,
I've been in/out of excersise for years. Always trying to lose some belly and gain some musle. And everytime the life took it away from me (as IT developer I sit in front of PC at least 9 hours a day (plus I'm DMing almost 4 year long campaign of DnD so that doesn't help either)). Not to mention my 8 months old daughter (she's a blessing).
Back to topic.
My weight fluctuated aroung 95 - 102 kg troughout the years.
I tried jogging on my own, going to the gym and eating just veggies (yeah, I was/am dumb).
Then I stumbled upon your channel and your website. Your positive attitude and way of life just made me smile.
Since then I've started doing stretching and back and chest excersises like you've shown in your vids.
On top of that I'm doing core excercises by channel Tone and Tighten (not sponsored) and I've started jogging by training regime of "the art of faster run" by Julian Gorter.
I've been sleeping well, eating good (finally some MEAT) and I am looking forward to excersise.
And I'm at 90kg and more fit than ever.
TL/DR
THANK YOU for being just the way you are.

how tall are you? and how much do you weigh? im genuinely curious how 3000+ calories can give you that type of body while im struggling at 1800 calories at 5'7" 172lbs 😂
no hate. i just wanna eat like that again too
Exercise and eat more, cutting calories that low throws your body into starvation mode so it hangs on to every calorie…
This is what I've been doing. I started out with losing a lot of fat (used to be overweight), that stalled out, so I started focusing on muscle building instead. It was working until my accident 7 years ago. I've been maintaining until I can back to the gym though.
