I've been using this feature for a few weeks now, having a 3d printer to test all the results for my project. It has been extremely useful in quickly connecting between parts that have a fixed position in my model, saving me hours of work and creating organic looking fixtures that look interesting aswell. You have to give it a ton of guidance, and I wish there were more sliders to change the parameters of the output, but overall an amazing feature. I'll add that I don't think there is a very advanced AI being implemented here, I would barely call it AI honestly, I would not use this feature to demonstrate AI's design capabilities.

I think I have little to worry about from AI design.............In Summary - AI didnt design your tool. You used a CAD package to mostly manually add 5 holes to the handle than IRL wouldnt work and likely would break after a bit of fatigue
It also took longer than just manually adding those holes.
@@OU81TWO and the actual casting of that part would be harder than to just make it a solid part because the casting tool would need 5 more cores
Did you get it printed in 17-4 PH? Or just A3 Tool STL?
I love Fusion trying these algorithm tricks, which is what this 'AI' really is, I have yet to try it myself but seems a nice addon

I can't find this function on my fusion 360, already updated, on their site they say to go to "preferences" next "preview features" and then enable "automated modeling". Now the problem is that there isn't any "automated modeling" there, and I don't have any "design" group in that window... is that function dedicated to professional license? I have a free version. Any help to unlock that?
It's out of preview and no longer needs to be enabled in the preferences. They need to update their documentation :)
Try resetting your toolbar. Right-click on the toolbar (anywhere on top of a feature) > Reset All Toolbar Customization. It should appear in your Design Workspace solid tab as the 7th icon from the list.

Probably Nylon and it wasn't a FDM fliament, it's a SLS powder made into the item with lasers.
Hang on can you see the error? The torque increases as you get closer to the fulcrum. Whereas the holes in the center of the handle all have the same area as they radiate out from the radial center.

Yeah AI designed this geometry but it was a human to accept the fail. I’m afraid of the future where ai tools liKe this become closer to non-engineering people, designing shitty parts and it seems it started with submarines that “break” rules

How is this different from the topography function AutoCAD removed from the basic version?
If anything, it's a downgrade from a functional generative design to a whatever-this-is generative design.
Agree, that it feels like a downgrade from GD. I suspect it's intended to be a step into it, so they can upsell GD more. Given, Automated Modeling is available to all and GD is extra cost.
Not familiar with that part of AutoCAD, unfortunately.
As far as I could test and understand, this is nice to play around and try different designs.
The T-Splines will not always close to a body, you'll definitely loose parametric capabilities and you're definitly loosing precision with the T-Spline approach.
I think it's a cool tool, but at least not yet looking like the future of CAD, but I can change my mind if I learn something more...
I don’t understand where all the crescent / monkey wrenches are going. They’ve been mass produced for over a hundred years and are basically indestructible. We should be ankle deep in them by now.

I don't understand what we are seeing here. Is this about 3D modelling and visuals, or actual reasoning about forces, materials, geometry, etc.? Does AI assist with sensitive designs taking into account the mentioned, or just aesthetics-wise?

Its amazing that fusion wont let you use your own hardware to compute the generative design locally on your computer. what if maybe i happen to be tech savvy enough to build a computer that i know has enough horse power to compute this in a snap? Its just a way autodesk can take advantage of non techy users that use a mac to try and convince them that you need someone else's server to "cloud compute" it for you. This is why i hate autodesk with a passion. shit like this. Whats even more amazing is that people that have not a single clue about what kind of hardware it takes to compute this properly will defend Autodesk to hell and back and spat out sht like "Oh that requires large mainframes and hundreds of thousands of dollars of compute power to compute this, you just dont understand" Im like, No, you are the one who doesnt understand 🙄
How is doing the computing for you "taking advantage" in any way?

to my knowledge all "AI" systems currently operate from large servers. the request is sent to the computer they built and we users are permitted to run equations. same goes for Dalle/GPT3-4/Mid Journey/Stable Diffusion if you want your own go build your own. you not having millions to spend on this is a you problem.
@@javis9950 you clearly don't know much about neural networks. You just need a 3080 card or better an 10 min of compute time...i would know, i program them. Its a misconception. You only need a million dollar pc of you are serving a million of users at a time. For a single user, a 3080 and 20 min. And if you don't mind waiting a full day for calculations, a 1070.

Product designers are rarely asked to design a solution for a problem for people with real needs and little money. Instead they are asked to design products that increase corporate profits. I have my doubts that AI will ever be programmed to solve problems for people with little purchasing power. If it doesn't make someone wealthy, it won't become a lasting reality.
This has already in just a couple years proven to be the case. sad truth of our reality I suppose. It is up the very intelligent few individuals to create something for the rest of us to use.

The tools are tools, if you use the wrong tool for the job, the result will be mediocre. "Bad" or "good" depends on what you do with it.

I have one of those with measurements on it so I use it to measure small things
As long as we achieve the Matter Synthesizer in my lifetime where anything can be made in heart beat me then me and AI are cool. AI can hopefully help with that

People who know the actual process of making these will say its a bad design idea 😂
But to use it as a tool to say save weight and still keep structure strength as a suggestion then yeah it can be helpful
