The reason why valve's servers disable clientside mods is because clientsided mods, while solely cosmetic, have been used to enable literal wallhacks. It's surprising what a clientside mod can do with a little malicious creativity.

Yeah, and instead of you know, them disableing the function to draw materials on top of everything else, they shotgunned the entire modding scene, even reanimation mods are technicly not allowed, TF2 just won't unload them from ram until you turn off the game.
Hello! I am a developer for Lambda Fortress: Community Edition! (We're planning on breaking off into our own mod entirely, because of how absolutely mad this mod has became in such a small amount of time) I am also the one who designed the Enforcer, Jerry, John Freeman, and Repressor classes. These are, at the moment, unfinished classes that have planned mechanics. We are up for any kind of criticism so we can make this mod a fun and unique experience! (Even if it is a bit insane) Also, most the crashes you encounter are mostly caused by LF:E's code, as well as the new features that are being added. We are working to fix all these issues! By the way, look forward to a whole revamp of the hl2 campaign. Adding new rooms, new enemy encounters, and probably more. Making the Water Hazard, and Highway 17 chapters actually fun to play is also on the agenda. (There are also some custom campaigns being worked on the side) also there's mvm :troll:
Hi there, I'm a recently added Lambda Fortress Community Edition dev, a lot of the unbalanced shit and broken stuff were added by sole devs that are very much gone from the project, I have since removed and been rebalancing all day what is trash and overpowered, it'll stay very silly and stupid but I'm happy to see you had fun, it's been in development for like a few months so there's a lot of work to do and code to clean-up.
You know what this whole "dev not associated with project anymore" thing reminds me of? Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Why? Because the publisher who owns the game replaced the old team with no-bodies just to shove us one of the worst updates ever to the fighting game that had been around since 2012.

It was internal. One Respawn developer quickly programmed the mod as they were looking for game engines to begin working on TF. From what I understand, they chose Source because the team already had experience using it and it was quick to work with. TF wasn't greenlit yet so it was very important to get something working fast to show off.
@@vxpdxIf I'm not mistaken, they worked in the CoD area before founding Respawn, and CoD runs essentially on a heavily modified and expanded Quake 3 engine. Hi! I really like this video because you actually delved into *weirder stuff*, unlike most "Wow TF2 Mods Are Wacky" videos which are just the same popular stuff over and over again. It felt like a real love letter to TF2's weirder customization scene. The TF2 modding scene IS still a wild west, and this video kinda shows that (although with some relatively dated examples, for example the Demoman Creeper - I made that four years ago.) I thought I might provide extra context from my personal perspectives as a "silly TF2 mod guy". *Warning, wall of text ahead.* *[Regarding LF:CE]* I'm actually a developer/contributor (on-and-off) for Lambda Fortress Community Edition! The Minecraft weapon you mentioned was originally a model I made for a TF2Maps jam, and wanted to use it here to try and replicate Minecraft-esque combat as a TF2 weapon. One of my mods was also used before I even heard of LFCE (that being a Manhack reskin for the Robro, that was repurposed as a passive secondary item). I animated the M1 Garand, and also animated the shotgun for Sniper. I've also coded stats here and there for balancing and also trying to properly replicate live TF2 weapon mechanics (before I implemented it, the Classic didn't work entirely right, the Atomizer didn't work as it did nowadays, etc etc.) Since LFCE's a "community led mod", it's mostly just an unofficial mishmash of stuff that isn't serious in any matter. I personally see it as a "HL2: Overcharged" take on the LF formula (a mishmash of everything) rather than something to be taken seriously. If you want that, either play the old LFE, or wait for CoaXion to finish developing their remake (from the ground up) of Lambda Fortress. *[Regarding the state of TF2 modding]* Yeah TF2 modding is a shell of its former self. And not just from the user-side (thanks to sv_pure basically shafting anything that isn't a custom hud or config), either. Most modern submissions on GameBanana are mostly serious stuff (workshop submissions, fixes to stuff, custom huds, what have you) or things that have an audience of extremely hormonal young adults (for example, after a certain Pyro incident, a noticeable influx of "grotesquely large pyro" requests have appeared on the site, and probably contributed to the site adding a "Fetishistic" content filter). However, there are definitely diamonds among the rough - recently some high-effort Overwatch ports have appeared (not just limited to the tracer mod you showed footage of briefly), a Kiryu mod for Spy, a giant baguette Tomislav, just to name a few posted within the past couple of weeks. Hopefully more people will over time get interested in making silly stuff again, as I won't lie, they're just fun to make if nothing else. *[Continuing modding, as a modder]* I probably won't stop making silly mods any time soon. I may try to put more polish and content into my modern work (for example, I initially planned to make a Fortnite playermodel work with *all Sniper cosmetics*, which I am pretty sure is just unrealistic for one guy to do himself), but that's just because of a personal wish to actually improve each time I make something (unfortunately it results in me making less and less stuff because I don't want to churn out little things and so burn myself out rather easily, even though I enjoy making little things more than larger projects). This video (and the research I contributed in its creation) helped me remember that little silly things (which I started out with) are still appreciated by people, and I should maybe make them more. if you read this far into the comment reply "war paint classic" or something idk thank you for taking the time to read my giant essay on tf2 mods

Custom models can be seen in Casual either by using existing textures from the game, OR by sneakily redirecting the model's textures into one of the "allowed" texture folders like the ones used for custom backgrounds and HUD elements. ~5 mods have already done this as of today and it seems like gamebanana is kinda blowing up with hype, everyone's frantically trying to figure out how to port their stuff to casual right now. Big things are happening but it's just gonna take some time. I'm really hoping that Valve is too lazy and aloof to patch this one
My favorite clientside mod is actually the flat-chested fempyro mod. The other, well known fempyro mod just looks too unrealistic and too extreme. In short, too big boobs and butt. The flat-chested one is perfection to its core imo. I also use an addon that fixes props, which should appear for taunts but for some reason, don't. It's pretty useful.
Best quote ive heard about tf2: "Valve thinks me using turkey medic is a bigger threat than the bots who have been tormenting casual servers for the past 5 years straight"
If you didnt know, you can use client side mods like weapon viewmodels (yes like a eyelander weapon mod etc) models and animations by putting "map itemtest; wait 10; disconnect" in your autoexec
9:45 Opposing Co-Op: For those who don't know, Half-Life: Opposing Force was an expansion pack of Half-Life 1, similar to what Half-Life 2's episodes are. And Opposing Force had a Deathmatch mode, similar to Half-Life deathmatch. Opposing Co-Op is probably similar.
7:03 this was my dream when I was little, I always wanted to do something like this in tf2, and I can’t believe it was an actual thing back that, I had loved half life and tf2 and portal and all of that, but I never knew there was an actual game mode for that, also, nice choice of music here, the fukin boss theme from PvZ lol
so many hours on baloon race despite being an actually terrible map (even by memey map standards) there was something so simple yet so entertaining about that era
I know why TF2 modding kind of changed over the years. TF2 server pluggin moding used to be huge because Valve didn't have their own servers at launch, so community was the only option until official pubs (and later casual) became the forefront. Clientside modding was also big back then because Valve didn't moderate it until 2015 with sv_pure being added to said official servers after they overtook community servers in popularity.
is is honestly FASCINATING how much advances in tools we have, like aftereffects, photoshop, blender, etc., have improved the average quality of p0rn on the internet, game mods included. just 12 years ago, when Skyrim first came out, making entirely new meshes for mods, instead of ripping professionally made assets from elsewhere, was still rather rare.
"And with Mecha The Slag moving his priorities toward creating the indie game, A Hat in Time-" Yeah, 'cause _that's_ the kind of bombs that we just _casually_ drop on the Richter Overtime channel! What the heck, I had no idea the creator of Parkour Fortress directed A Hat in Time!
Me neither! I was mid nostalgia trip since i haven’t seen parkour fortress gameplay in easily 8+ years and i heard that and was completely shocked! Went from creating a goated TF2 mod to a goated game
Parkour maps were the jam a whole decade ago. I remember from time to time me and my mate used to troll people by standing behind the red doors so they couldn't be opened.
The only 2 mods I really ever use are Bot Overhaul (which works pretty well in terms of generating navemeshes, but doesn’t fix problems like the opposite team being able to tell you’re a spy just by bumping into you even if you aren’t cloaked) so I can play TF2 without the anxiety of being having to interact with other people, and Highertower, which is Hightower but Higher.
8:48 that melee weapon is literally a melee weapon from dead rising 2 that is an axe + a sledgehammer. ik it's an axe + a bat now, but if you SAW the weapon i'm referring to you'd clearly see the resemblance.

The end credits song hit me so hard, as if I had just played re-volt on the ps2 yesterday.... From time to time you recognise some random song instantly, because it played on some MTV Snowboarding game for the ps1... (btw it was "Fear FActory - Cars" , for anyone that even played this game)
Years ago I played a bunch of Pony Fortress 2, which gave each team a pony-themed Saxton Hale with a class gimmick tacked on (like spy's invisibility or scout's double-jump). The pony heroes also had ultimate abilities which buffed their teammates. It breathed a lot of new life into the game and could have probably gathered popularity if wasn't exclusive to a single server, and had a less controversal theme.
I still feel giving some attention to the new sentry waifu Mimi given this version seems to be making steady headway around the community with I guess you could say a more universal appealing appearance. Seems mostly popular in TF2 Blender animations
Had a ragdoll mod where if killed, your body would flip out and fly everywhere hitting stuff and if you keep killing more people it becomes complete chaos
I used to have a client side mod that replaced some of my taunts with old animations from Dr. Face and other classic SFM creators. Man I miss those days.
Finding out the guy behind a hat in time was a tf2 player makes me incredibly happy. He lived our dream of making a whole game about hats and parkour god bless him

Big things are happening but it's just gonna take some time. I'm really hoping that Valve is too lazy and aloof to patch this one
I downloaded a mod that replaced the mannrobics song with the National Aerobic Championship Theme from 1988. It was the best mod I've ever downloaded
link?
@@avyyhl il try to find it
My favorite clientside mod is actually the flat-chested fempyro mod. The other, well known fempyro mod just looks too unrealistic and too extreme. In short, too big boobs and butt. The flat-chested one is perfection to its core imo. I also use an addon that fixes props, which should appear for taunts but for some reason, don't. It's pretty useful.
I agree
you are definitely in the minority of fempyro mod enjoyers
@@norasthegoat I see you're a man of culture as well.
@@bewisoffical They seem more down-to-earth, even if it's a game that is literally anything but down-to-earth.
@@lambdrey i just love the mod it's Just has so much details and i love that
Best quote ive heard about tf2: "Valve thinks me using turkey medic is a bigger threat than the bots who have been tormenting casual servers for the past 5 years straight"
You have great music taste mate, I spot that The Social Network soundtrack around 2:41
If you didnt know, you can use client side mods like weapon viewmodels (yes like a eyelander weapon mod etc) models and animations by putting "map itemtest; wait 10; disconnect" in your autoexec
Due to this, i finally had a excuse to use the hhh because the viewmodel sucks
The potential of a tf2 story game, where you go through levels as the classes in a way maybe similar to attack defence could be insane
video aside.
atleast someone still remember's Re-volt.
gotta love hearing the menu screen while choosing your RC-CAR and map.
man i miss that game
Dude I just commented that, havent touched this game for over 15 years now, but I instantly knew where i've heard this song before
9:45 Opposing Co-Op: For those who don't know, Half-Life: Opposing Force was an expansion pack of Half-Life 1, similar to what Half-Life 2's episodes are. And Opposing Force had a Deathmatch mode, similar to Half-Life deathmatch. Opposing Co-Op is probably similar.
NAH NOT THE TYPICAL COLORS DEMOMAN AT 0:42
0:47 that image is golden
Great choices of background music!
1:13 that pyro model in the corner bro 😳
Great video, modding community is always awesome. RE-volt credit music is a nice touch
WHY DOES BOTH RATLOBBER AND RICHET HAS THE FUCKING FEMPYRO MOD INSTALLED!?!? 1:12 💀💀💀💀💀💀
I need a compilation just of Richter saying „Good Evening“.
would love to see a video on some classic comunity maps like harbl_hotel and the mario kart one full of old memes from 2007.
I did a vid on Mario kart a long time ago but it’s a bit shit I might redo it eventually
Harbl hotel is a masterpiece
so many hours on baloon race despite being an actually terrible map (even by memey map standards)
there was something so simple yet so entertaining about that era
1:49 there was a mod that reskined player models so you could see them through walls.
Richter, don't you dare escape, what did you do with your fluffy bunny VOD?
I know why TF2 modding kind of changed over the years. TF2 server pluggin moding used to be huge because Valve didn't have their own servers at launch, so community was the only option until official pubs (and later casual) became the forefront. Clientside modding was also big back then because Valve didn't moderate it until 2015 with sv_pure being added to said official servers after they overtook community servers in popularity.
i play parkour fortress weekly for YEARS since it came out. so happy you gave it some attention. amazing video 10/10
is is honestly FASCINATING how much advances in tools we have, like aftereffects, photoshop, blender, etc., have improved the average quality of p0rn on the internet, game mods included. just 12 years ago, when Skyrim first came out, making entirely new meshes for mods, instead of ripping professionally made assets from elsewhere, was still rather rare.
"And with Mecha The Slag moving his priorities toward creating the indie game, A Hat in Time-"
Yeah, 'cause _that's_ the kind of bombs that we just _casually_ drop on the Richter Overtime channel!
I remember seeing the see tinh taunt in the store, and it was just a work of art
11:21 There's no reason for anybody to suspect that I have downloaded this...
HELLO HI!!!! I MADE THAT!!!!
8:48 that melee weapon is literally a melee weapon from dead rising 2 that is an axe + a sledgehammer. ik it's an axe + a bat now, but if you SAW the weapon i'm referring to you'd clearly see the resemblance.
1:15 hes using the fempyro mod
Edit:
I did not realize he would later show it again like 5 times
I thought I was some kinda detective for catching the first one 😭
Yeah you're gonna need to make a follow up on this one, someone found a way to make mods work on casual.
The end credits song hit me so hard, as if I had just played re-volt on the ps2 yesterday....
From time to time you recognise some random song instantly, because it played on some MTV Snowboarding game for the ps1...
(btw it was "Fear FActory - Cars" , for anyone that even played this game)
Richter Overtime when he downloads a sexy Pyro mod "for the joke"
8:25 Excuse me, the Ranger has a name and it's Trent Reznor!
So many good memories on balloon wars, achievement_engineer, freak fortress 2, and especially slender fortress...
12:12 - re-volt Menu Theme.
Yes. It's that weird PS1 game I tried once on an emulator and never again
At the moment, the community is making casual compatible mods, which is sth very new and interesting to say
At least you forgot my birthday 3 days ago Richter. That was a pretty cool video.
I didn’t expect to see a mod turning the demo man into the Roblox typical colors variant.
“Babe wake up .new richter overtime video just dropped.”
Fr tho I love tf2 mods and I’ve been thinking about getting mods recently so ty.
0:42 a knee heal ate our from tc2
7:24 is that a job? because if so i know my new
dream job
Im so glad you talked about lambda fortress, it's just such a cool mod.
1:13
Aye mate.. why the Pyro built like that?
Years ago I played a bunch of Pony Fortress 2, which gave each team a pony-themed Saxton Hale with a class gimmick tacked on (like spy's invisibility or scout's double-jump). The pony heroes also had ultimate abilities which buffed their teammates. It breathed a lot of new life into the game and could have probably gathered popularity if wasn't exclusive to a single server, and had a less controversal theme.
2:41 SOCIAL NETWORK SOUNDTRACK MENTIONED 🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE TRENT REZNOR

ANNIHILATOR TC2 MOMENT
I still feel giving some attention to the new sentry waifu Mimi given this version seems to be making steady headway around the community with I guess you could say a more universal appealing appearance. Seems mostly popular in TF2 Blender animations
0:51 kiryu chan in tf2 is real
The way I fuckin said "HOLY SHIT ITS ANNIHILATOR TC2" when you showed that demo mod lmfao
i havent watched this guy in so long, good to see hes more popular now
Thank you for informing me that the guy who made a parkour tf2 mod, also made one of my favorite indie games, a hat in time.
Had a ragdoll mod where if killed, your body would flip out and fly everywhere hitting stuff and if you keep killing more people it becomes complete chaos
you gave me whiplash with the outro song I HAVE to go play Re-Volt now

I used to have a client side mod that replaced some of my taunts with old animations from Dr. Face and other classic SFM creators. Man I miss those days.
1:12 literally the first fucking thing I was was the fempyro model being used, I have never felt as bad before
Finding out the guy behind a hat in time was a tf2 player makes me incredibly happy. He lived our dream of making a whole game about hats and parkour god bless him
