@@jordanloux3883 he doesn't technically have powers. He's just a normal family man by day, and a silent assassin who mimics the sounds of the world around him in order to collect the masks of vigilantes for his secret trophy room by night. And I think that could really work for this type of world
I just had a thought. What if the person with the fist indent in their face is the scientist that made the Clayface formula, Preston Payne, not Basil Karlo?! 😮
I'll add to that, what if the costar Basil is infatuated with happens to be named Sandra Fuller as another reference? I do think it's Payne, and I think he'll be a villain in a future season, possible under the name Cesspool, which is sometimes used to differentiate him from other Clayfaces. Also, since this is the first Twoface with a scarred right half of his face, I think it's meant to symbolize his newfound empathy while the normal Harvey side is the bad one.
The implication that the Two-Face design has flipped the physical scarring is brilliant. It’s the ‘normal’ side we can’t trust, the glamorous, chiselled public persona of the guy… the side we feel we SHOULD be able to trust!
Harvey's rally looks HEAVILY inspired by a scene from Citizen Kane. I wonder if they'll be using that movie as inspiration for his character arc? Kane is a man who enters public life, but is ultimately destroyed by his demons, convinced he's standing up for 'the little guy' but actually enacting his own twisted power fantasies.
That is such a perfect combo honestly. Both of them have plenty in common, at least with recent versions of Two-face in media. Hell, this version of Harvey even looks a lot like a young Orson Welles.
If Penguin does end up being a woman, I could see why. Le Monocle was a Parisian lesbian bar that was very popular, and butch lesbians who would wear monocles and dress up in men's suits. Le Monocle was open from the 1920s to the being closed during the occupation in WW2 which the timing would align fairly well
The one thing missing was a look at Bruce Wayne, the man behind the mask (or is it the other way around?). I think it would have been interesting to see the difference between the two. Maybe a quick shot of Bruce in Dr. Quinzel's office during one of their therapy sessions. Also interesting that the Gordons seem to be serving in the police together this time (provided the redhead was Barbara).

I only know about this character from Kevin Smith's Green Arrow run I read in my teens .. I kinda wish there was a little bit more Color in this series .so far this looks different from the original DCAU
I’m hoping we won’t see joker in this installment I know I know he’s like one of the MAIN villains but I’m honestly mentally exhausted of seeing this character
Hard to tell from how zoomed out it is but i don't think those are rapiers. Most people don't actually know what rapiers are and just call every pointy poke sword that Real rapiers are just as heavy as any other sword and generally are among the longest 1 handed swords with a emphasis on thrusts but usually have some sort of cutting ability.
Question: my suspicion is that as the show goes on, we might see Two-Face devolve into a mentally-ill state, and that obsession with duality will evolve to a big reveal with the halfsies suit. Do you imagine that could be a possibility?
I'm surprised by some of the supernatural elements in this trailer since I thought the show was going to be a more grounded, gritty, noire type of thing given its setting in the 40's.
Is that me or some batman's villains are experts, mad hatter expert on mind control, Mr. Freeze expert on ice and cold, poison ivy expert on plants, scarecrow expert on fear?
I don’t think Nocturna was a vampire in the comics. Timm wanted to make her one on the show. It’s a little confusing because there was a big vampire storyline in the Batman comics around the time Nocturna first appeared, but it had nothing to do with her.
Im not sure how i feel about this version of Alfred. This shouldn't be that far from his military service. His being in this shape doesn't make much sense
Considering the Generic Asiatic appearance of the maybe-joker, I think it's fair guess, since they made Harley Asian. Would make sense for consistency Imo.
When I saw the trailer for The Caped Crusader, I almost flipped out because I love a good Batman Cartoon! Also Onomatopoeia is a villain in this show? Usually when I hear that word, it means sound but this should be interesting.🤩😮
I'm super excited for it :) I'll likely watch one or 2 episodes a night rather than full on binging. My first time watching the trailer, I thought that was Clayface maskless and being burned xD 8:50
Hell yeah, I’m excited to see penguin, onomatopoeia, clayface and Harley in the show. I’d there is going to be more seasons for the show I think some new villains that would cool to see is deacon blackfire, mad hatter, scarecrow, firefly, and maybe professor pyg.❤️
I guarantee the design of two face was something that matt reeves pitched. Especially considering his vision for the joker in the batman. I cant wait for this. Im honestly gonna buy prime just for this since max fumbled.
I'm both excited and worried about this series. I'm worried because Bruce Timm most recent work hasn't been his best like The Killing Joke animated movie and the Batman and Harley Quinn movie and J.J. Abrams also hasn't been on my good graces lately, I'm not a fan of his Star Wars or Star Trek. But on the other hand, Matt Reeves is attached to it, and he's one of my favorite filmmakers, I love his Planet of the Apes movies and his recent Batman. I'm still gonna give it a watch, though. If it's bad, then it's bad, but if it's good, then great.
I think Clayface's appearances are just based on movie roles he might've played. The deformed appearance somewhat resembles Jonah Hex and the scientist resembles a generic mad science villain from the time
i though person whos fencing with batman was gentleman ghost heck i doubt clayface is type of person to fight with fences also i have a crazy theory that the mayor will be penguin ik it sounds crazy but theres a chance eh? edit more i look at him more it seems like clayface... man idk at this point
13:02 I don't know if there will be a Joker in Caped Crusader. From the trailer it looks like Harley Quinn and Joker have been merged into one character. Which I'm all for. It's a new take on some arguably way over exposed characters.
I could definitely see Harley Quinn being the Joker of Batman Caped Crusader, it makes the most sense considering that the series is meant to feel fresh
Apologies in advance, Mr. Lake, but I NEED to get this off my chest. WOHOO! FINALLY! A race-swapped version of a Redheaded character…WHO GETS TO KEEP THEIR HAIR! I’m gonna be honest, I don’t really have any issues with race swapping a character most of the time…HOWEVER, I have been seeing a really annoying trend of several comic adaptations in the last decade or so where they take a redheaded character (many of whom are fan-favorites) and have them be played by non-redheaded actors…nor even have said actors wear a wig or dye their hair or anything, at the very least. Speaking as a redhead myself, it’s always bugged me that SO MANY famous redheads in fiction seemed to get this treatment (not blaming ANY of the actors of course, but it honestly did felt like, at least in my personal perspective, that redheads were seemingly not allowed to be heroes in a lot of these adaptations). I mean, it’s bad enough when famous Christian painters give birth to the “Gingers have no Souls” joke because they give Satan, Judas, Lilith and Post-Apple Eve red hair, or when we were sacrificed in Ancient Egypt because they thought we were vampires, or that we were burned at the stake or hanged during The Witch Trials for being alleged vampires/people who were kissed by Satan on the forehead before we were even born, being heavily discriminated against by both Britain and the U.S FOR YEARS and being called Demons or Leprechauns. But taking away some of our very few bits of representation…that’s crossing the final line. MJ, Wally West, Impulse, Jimmy Olsen, Kate Kane, Matt Murdock (again, no disrespect to the actors, but a MAJOR part of Matt’s character is that he grew up as an IRISH CATHOLIC. Last I checked, there’s a REASON for that distinction.), Roy Harper, Triss from The Witcher (which considering all the hundreds of years of magic lore about redheads in real life history, feels like an extra SPICY slap in the face), Electro (although in his particular case, he’s actually a much bigger part of a much bigger problem in Capes Media: Unoriginality when it comes to the powers given to Black Superheroes), Dracula (YES; DRACULA IS ACTUALLY A GINGER IN THE ORIGINAL BOOK, GO LOOK IT UP) etc. That’s not to say that that’s the case with all of them, of course. Batgirl in both TLBM and the kiboshed Batgirl movie kept it, Black Widow kept hers (at the cost of a solo movie being made BEFORE SHE WAS KILLED OFF!), April O’Neil…doesn’t technically count since her race in the original comics was kinda ambiguous and she didn’t become a redhead until the 1987 cartoon, however, the fact that her Rise and Mutant Mayhem designs chose to include her red hair (tied with the fact that it’s become an iconic part of the character) makes me consider her an honorable mention at the very least. And yes, Jean Grey and Mystique kept theirs too. There are several other examples I could mention, but I think I’ll end it here. TL;DR Version: We need more redheads in Comics Media. We wanna be shown as heroes too. And if you’re going to race-swap a ginger, let them keep the hair AT THE VERY LEAST! Also, SCREW MCU FLAG-SMASHER.
So far it looks great, very excited cause it has the potential to be the best animated series ever to me, not really keen on the new Two Face design but I'm pretty sure it'll be magistrally characterized and will play a big role in the series so that all of us BTAS TF lovers can overlook the new too simple design, can't wait for August 1st
The mobster is obviously one of The Penguin’s goons. The guy in the neck bracelet is 99% Harvey Bullock. Perhaps Flass is the detective on the far right (if he’s even in the show). I’m curious about the identities of The Penguin snd the mayor.
9:56 - In an alternate universe, Catwoman is “Birdwoman” and the Penguin is themed after a tuxedo house cat and is called “The Top Cat”. Oh, and in “I’ve Got Batman in My Basement”, his first ever line would be a hiss.
I don't know why but Natalia reminded me of Klarion the witch boy when I saw her picture and oh boy you were right about clayface's whole face without the bandana.

Was not expecting Batman to have a lot of gadgets in the first season and female Penguin? Umm I still believe it's the male version because Tom Kenny is in the show and he usually voices The Penguin 🐧

I wish it it had a Shirley Walker inspired Score , it reminds me of Frank Miller & David Mazzuchelli Batman Year One , I really like Harley Quinn design In motion. Thee Guy vocing Batman is definitely keeping in the Golden Age vibe .
I like the Old Timey Cars . Looking at it does make me think of why I got into BTAS as a Kid .
This might be as Good as X-Men 97, Firebug looks interesting that's a new character to me so that is something..
Clayface looks interesting
I ❤️ Catwoman In this trailer she looks like she's having fun beating Batman up .
I'm surprised that Onompeua is in this show . I only know about this character from Kevin Smith's Green Arrow run I read in my teens ..
I kinda wish there was a little bit more Color in this series .so far this looks different from the original DCAU
I’m hoping we won’t see joker in this installment
I know I know he’s like one of the MAIN villains but I’m honestly mentally exhausted of seeing this character
What Other Villains you like to see in the Batman Caped Crusader?
Any word on how long the episodes will be?
Hard to tell from how zoomed out it is but i don't think those are rapiers.
Most people don't actually know what rapiers are and just call every pointy poke sword that
Real rapiers are just as heavy as any other sword and generally are among the longest 1 handed swords with a emphasis on thrusts but usually have some sort of cutting ability.
Question: my suspicion is that as the show goes on, we might see Two-Face devolve into a mentally-ill state, and that obsession with duality will evolve to a big reveal with the halfsies suit. Do you imagine that could be a possibility?
I’m just excited to see what Onomatopoeia will do ❤
3:50 I think, that this is Rupert Thorne
I'm surprised by some of the supernatural elements in this trailer since I thought the show was going to be a more grounded, gritty, noire type of thing given its setting in the 40's.
I think clayface will be like false face in the 1966 show
Praying Ivy gets introduced at some point
Btw, re: "Clowder Industries" -- a clowder is a group of cats. Might be Selina's company?
Nice tidbit, thanks for sharing!
@@SerumLake You're very welcome! I forgot this is a sane hour for people in the UK to be awake, so I wasn't expecting a reply! 😂
Like X-Men '97, I bet this series won't be for kids unlike Batman: TAS or other DCAU shows.
10:09 maybe this version of the penguin is an homage to Burgess Meredith version of the character from the Adam West Batman series?
I love that the villains are not colourful but more grounded!!! THIS is true Batman!!!
i think the guy with the blue flames is Clayface, because the outfit and it looked like a scarf covering the lower part of his face burns away.
Actually, I think it's Gentleman Ghost.
You can see the hat is Ghost's tricorne hat, just tilted up
i would LOVE them to use Tallyman
excellent suggestion
Is that me or some batman's villains are experts, mad hatter expert on mind control, Mr. Freeze expert on ice and cold, poison ivy expert on plants, scarecrow expert on fear?
Is Firebug supposed yo be where DC Firefly came from?
Purple hat rim???
Maybe!
I guess they want to Surprises us with the New Version of Bruce Wayne and hot distinct he is from Batman.
Holy shit onomatopeia
Womp
5:54 you're thinking of an "épée".
I brought up a foil in another comment. Then I read "epee" and felt my inner sword-nerd die in shame.
The Mayor is Hamilton Hill right? Not sure if it’s him or someone else
onomatopoeia is the one I am looking forward to!
i think i just stumbled across a gold mine of btas content..
👀
I don’t think Nocturna was a vampire in the comics. Timm wanted to make her one on the show. It’s a little confusing because there was a big vampire storyline in the Batman comics around the time Nocturna first appeared, but it had nothing to do with her.
She was a vampire.
nevermind..
It's confirmed she's asian
When I saw the trailer for The Caped Crusader, I almost flipped out because I love a good Batman Cartoon! Also Onomatopoeia is a villain in this show? Usually when I hear that word, it means sound but this should be interesting.🤩😮
I'm super excited for it :) I'll likely watch one or 2 episodes a night rather than full on binging. My first time watching the trailer, I thought that was Clayface maskless and being burned xD 8:50
That’s always a possibility!
The deformed appearance somewhat resembles Jonah Hex and the scientist resembles a generic mad science villain from the time
i though person whos fencing with batman was gentleman ghost heck i doubt clayface is type of person to fight with fences
also i have a crazy theory that the mayor will be penguin ik it sounds crazy but theres a chance eh?
edit more i look at him more it seems like clayface... man idk at this point
@@Walker_Dead_Phoenix.2016 i would love to see that
I know he has been over exposed to death at this point, but I REALLY want to see how the Joker would look in this dark retro style.
Stoked for Onomatopoeia!!
Dude, it really isn't that big of a deal
@@jordanloux3883 Please re-read it, I just added some stuff.
Mad hatter will appear
So far it looks great, very excited cause it has the potential to be the best animated series ever to me, not really keen on the new Two Face design but I'm pretty sure it'll be magistrally characterized and will play a big role in the series so that all of us BTAS TF lovers can overlook the new too simple design, can't wait for August 1st
Have to say Harvey dent’s face is definitely dark compared what they shown before . Guess there showing a more gritty version of barman
The mobster is obviously one of The Penguin’s goons. The guy in the neck bracelet is 99% Harvey Bullock. Perhaps Flass is the detective on the far right (if he’s even in the show). I’m curious about the identities of The Penguin snd the mayor.
(Sees trailer for a new Batman animated series)
Me: Ohhh YES!!!
(Sees J.J. Abrams)
Me: Ohh no...
I thought that the sword fight looked as though it was between Batman and Onomatopoeia instead of Clayface, as Ono is dressed in full black and also has a hat.
Was not expecting Batman to have a lot of gadgets in the first season and female Penguin? Umm I still believe it's the male version because Tom Kenny is in the show and he usually voices The Penguin 🐧
Indeed he voiced him in the Batman, Lego, tmnt, so it stands to reason
The only reason I have a doubt is the IGN article went live today and it described Caped Crusader’s Penguin and Harley Quinn as being the biggest departures from what we’ve seen before…
Hmm interesting 🤔
@@SerumLakewhat if this version of Penguin the difference is his appearance where he’s more muscle then pudgy fat?
@@calebray1834I think that is a great idea! Like the kingpin in the 90s spiderman cartoon when he had spiderman in a bear hug and was crushing him to death. Since up to that point we along with spiderman thought he was just fat but nope it was pure muscle!
9:44 Is it just me, or does the Penguin kinda look like how Gentleman Ghost typically looks in most incarnations?
Maybe this is the result of Alfred getting possessed by GG?
Um, you’re thinking of fencing 🤺 swords ….just thought to answer your question….
Maybe they didnt use firefly because of that canceled batgirl movie, like dc had some weird clarifications on what they could and couldn't use because of that moview cancellations (that movie was scrapped so don't use firefly because it will remind people of it, conpanies can be weird like that)
Firebug kind of reminds of the Gotham TV Series's version of Firefly
I would love to see Prometheus in season 2 where he goes after Batman but he also has a vendetta against the other people involved in his parents death or who thinks involved in their deaths.
Hush would be cool as well, a childhood friend of Bruce’s turned bad.
Not a fan of Two-Face design. He just looks so off, and not in the good kind like his previous designs were.
