I wish _SubZero_ had ended with us actually getting to see Nora reawaken and exchange dialogue with her husband. I also wish Timm & Dini had had the good grace to retire the characters afterward instead of doing what they did with them in TNBA and BTAC. Tbh I prefer the animal rights stuff and I don’t even see that scene as her giving up the “facade”... The animal is ALREADY extinct... what she threw in the fire was merely a museum piece and in her mind likely just a random piece of junk humans keep around to gawk at with pride for having bested... She’s an animal rights activist... not a archeologist or preservationist... Honestly it’s more likely a symbol for everything she hates rather then being anything truly meaningful to her beyond obviously wealth.

I like how whenever a character desires companionship and in general a relationship of any kind is seen as them being “creeps” when it’s the most basic and natural part of being a human being... Can actions be creepy? Arguably yes but here it’s not even explained as that. It’s just “haha he built himself robot girlfriend so he loser”... Not gonna go and defend a fictional character but thinking logically for a second. If I was in his shoes, had such crap social interaction to the point that nobody likes me. I’d likely build one myself and the sad truth is that literally EVERYONE ELSE ALIVE would also... Remember Outcast? That dude made a basketball his best friend for a reason... When humans lack interactivity... they will tend to do ANYTHING to get it from someone or something anywhere.

I am one of those people that hate Batman's no kill rule. I think that it shouldn't be something he does all the time, he isn't Punisher or The Shadow, but Joker is someone who shouldn't still be alive whether Batman does it with his own two hands or allows someone else to do it or Joker to do himself in, the "I don't have to save you" approach. That said this episode never sat right with me. Clayface isn't Joker, he is in contention for the DCAU's most sympathetic villain which is saying a lot. By not having Clayface murder a bunch of people it makes Batman look like a bully almost. If not a bully then one of those 'lawful anal' sorts which lets be fair he does trend that direction. Only after rewatching it and understanding how much more powerful it would make Clayface did I take Batman's side. Truthfully this entire episode is depressing because we've all had to deal with an jerk we felt sorry for and wanted to help. There just wasn't a winning move for Bruce here, Matt was just too stubborn and given his past and circumstances understandably so.

This is timely. Just finished JLU Season 2 (minus "Epilogue", for obvious reasons hopefully) for my slow but sure DCAU rewatch binge. If anyone asks, Superman: The Animated Series Season 1 works almost exactly better on production order. Airdate's wrong by releasing "Stolen Memories" before "The Main Man" two-parter. No, just don't question why there's sound in space for this sequence. Love the rock guitar stuff for the fragface Lobo though. 1:23: Now this is one of the scenes used for the S: TAS intro. 1:49: And this one too. 1:54: Enter the Collector. Not to be confused with that Marvel alien weirdo, or that childlike god-entity from The Owl House. 3:10: Oh, go ahead. Try, for you'll somehow fail. 3:32: Yes, and you're best friends with space dolphins, loves dolphin food (I think), and killed Santa Claus once (or so I hear... unless I'm remembering Deadpool instead). Always with super effective sleeping gas. In at least two separate Batman properties that I know of the Mad Hatter has teamed up with Scarecrow and they kinda make an interesting duo, (The Long Halloween and the TV show Gotham) both of them target the mind in some manner, with The Hatter using mind control and the Scarecrow using his fear toxin, and they play off each other rather well

The only downside is that middle part. I don't love the childish battle over Mr. Freeze and Nora's fate. Cold Comfort just seems random and having Nora perish from disease later just feels childish. Can argue about Subzero and having Nora actually survive. But once that path was taken just...roll with it. There was a satisfying end to that with Freeze being at peace and living quietly. Then he's a psycho head in a jar. At least the Batman Beyond episode did him as much justice as could be done. Let him go out on his terms. And also once more show the human kindness in Terry in wanting to save Freeze. He just couldn't since Freeze didn't want to survive.
