Up until the fight with onomatopoeia, Batman was kind of chilling this episode. It didn’t take him a lot of work to find out who had put the hit on Gordon, and the fights he did have we’re pretty straightforward and easy. Everyone else in this episode was stressed to the limit except him
It definitely makes sense though, Batman is still vulnerable to being hurt by the common crook, but he is outfitted with many tools and he is trained in many hand to hand combat styles. Episodes like this really remind us how much more vulnerable everyone else is.
I do like that Floyd Lawton a.k.a Deadshot was taken out so easily. Usually when DC fans think of hired assassins they think of him. But now the writers could introduce a new mercenary. Enter Onomatopoeia. I am glad that he is getting the recognition he deserves. He is my favorite DC villain. Although, I really hope Deadshot returns. And hopefully looking like his first appearance. They did say he was hospitalized and not killed off.

As someone who is neurodivergent - I do agree with the taking on Onomatopiea, which he is probably neurodivergent. Then again, I do feel like a lot of Batman villains fit with that and part of why I do enjoy them in a werid way is some of the better rep I have seen as most representations it feel condescending or so over the top, it is feels unrelatable. Also, I love it when villains get supportive henchmen again. It feels quite relatable like when you are neurodivergent you do want the praise of being told you doing a good job it nice to have reassurance since the world expects you know how to do everything without being told how And love your video very well done handling the subject I just have lots on this subject
Moving Target was one of my favorite episodes of this series, and I enjoyed this look at its villains. I liked the twist of Corrigan being a villain hiding in plain sight as well as the hit being on Barbara rather than her father. I agree with you regarding not wanting this version of Corrigan to potentially become The Spectre. I had not been familiar with Onomatopoeia prior to watching your other video about him, and I thought that he made a good villain in this episode and fit the vibe of this series. The "POW' moment was a highlight for me as well - a great touch to close out that fight.
Upon rewatching the series I realised that Corrigan was often a quiet figure in the background, rarely speaking unless spoken to. It’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for…
Onomatopoeia is now my favourite villain from literally anything: he's a possibly autistic, well designed assassin who's well themed and generally amazing.
I’d wager that’s the plan. This episode shows a young and inexperienced version of Deadshot. Eventually he’ll escape or get let out, and overtime he’ll turn into the more threatening Deadshot we know.
I don’t think Arnold Flass actually cared that Gordon was nearly assassinated, he mainly made such a statement to save face. In truth he’s the second most evil character in the whole series thus far, only beaten by Penguin
Well if nothing else, he probably isn't a fan of cops having a target on their back. He is a cop afterall, and the idea that someone thinks they can put a hit on any cop means he is included in that possible target poll.
@@josephperez2004and because of that, and the fact that he loves to hold power over others. Flass is mad about the mere implication that anyone would even think about going against him.
its probably more of like a status thing. Cops are the ones who should be above this shit, in his mind, how DARE someone decide to try and kill a cop. in real life this is how corrupt cops seem to work, as they are protective of 'their own', hence why they tend to help each other get away with crimes and why the cops seem to always stand togetehr no matter what.
I confess that Onomatopoeia never impressed me as a villain in the comics (too much plot armour for this newbie character to take out more experienced heroes not by making him look good, but by making them look like chumps) and I don't think he did much for me here. As a throwaway gimmick perhaps, but never as a credible threat. Still, his weirdly supportive gang were a nice touch. They seem so PROUD of him. I also think the "twist" was just a bit too obvious (and for two particular characters to NOT be aware of it felt off), but I did particualrly like the discussion at the start between Jim and Barbara about how they view criminals, and Jim's attempt at claiming police should be allowed more leeway in criminal activities than civilians felt like it explained a LOT about how Gotham is as messed up as it is, even from someone like Jim Gordon
I hope if Floyd Lawton returns in the show we’ll see him in costume. Wanting to step up his game after getting taken down so easily in front of everyone.
@@jordanloux3883 Hmm maybe classic outfit mixed with the modern costume. Something a bit more “bullet resistant” so he doesn’t get taken down again by another cop’s bullet.
@@christiandauz3742nah a black guys just gonna come and kill him and say he's the real deadshot(yes this is about the suicide game I am still made about that)
I'm gonna say one thing about Caped Crusader, and it's what I'm willing to say about BTAS, too, but the show has so, so much love for Batman as a character and his world that I'm in awe. Even with this episode, where Mueller admitted that he had Chief O'Hara from the 1966 series taking bribes and Onomatopoeia's dialogue mostly just being the sort of BAM/SOCK/ETC. stuff from the same show.
We know very well that you don't need a costume or special powers to be a villain. No, there are still mobsters and gangsters out there including in any Batman Franchise and they are just as dangerous as the villains we know like The Joker for example. Onomatopoeia is one of the dangerous villains especially with his sounds that made him sound so menacing.😬😈
Is a good thing you're doing your best to point out the better aspects of this show. Been seeing a lot of negative reviews regarding this show as of late.
Everyone has their own preferences, and differences of opinion are totally fine - think how boring it’d be if we all liked the same thing! - but I have seen a vocal minority of monosyllabic grifters outraged by the fact that women, people of colour, and homosexuals exist in the show. It’s all so tedious.
I loved Onomatopoeia. They had such a fun on scene presence to them. Didn't even make the potential connection to being on the spectrum. Despite being on it myself. Thank you for making this vid mate. I appreciate it 🙏😃
I have my doubts, but I really do hope they make it to 100 episodes. Frankly I'd love to see an animated dcu spring from this. Even if it's just a small one.
Matt Reeves teased that they'll be hearing back from Amazon about Season Three very soon, that'll take them one third of the way there if they do get renewed!
Not gonna lie, when I first saw "Onomatopoeia" (lord, that is quite a name!) I initially thought he was a new interpretation of Deadshot...until the close captions revealed his actual name. I also thought him saying sound effects out loud was odd at first...Until I remembered that I used to do the same thing when I was a kid, and made myself laugh in that moment. Hope to one day see Deadshot return in his "Tuxedo Mask" outfit one day. This cameo really didn't do the character justice.
One problem I have with Onomatopoeia and to a lesser but equally valid extent Gentleman Ghost, being in Batman: Caped Crusader is that they're not originally Batman villains. Onomatopoeia is a Green Arrow villain, and Gentleman Ghost is a Hawkman villain. Green Arrow and Hawkman don't have the same kind of huge elaborate rouge's gallery that Batman has, let them keep the villains that belong to them, and maybe try and use more obscure Batman villains like they did with Nocturna and Firebug.
My Adventures with Superman does the same thing to some extent. While we have Superman's usual foes like Livewire, Toyman, Silver Banshee and Lex Luthor, we also villains from the rogue galleries of other heroes like Deathstroke (a Teen Titans villain), Blue Snowman (a Wonder Woman villain), Heatwave (a Flash villain) and Monsieur Mallah and The Brain (two Doom Patroll villains).
Clock King's a green arrow vilian and he was in the anaimted series and let's be real when tf are we ever gonna get a hawk man show or movie and green arrow isn't that popular so I doubt we'd ever get a anaimted series with him
Why does Barbara have to deal with some handsome scumbags ? First Gil Mason (Batman: TAS), then Paris Franz (Batman: The Killing Joke), and now this guy.
@@aidanhever3369 The occasional joking prejudice that redheads are quite an unlucky bunch in fiction, with examples like Jimmy Olsen and unbald Lex Luthor.
What made Corrigan's betrayal so effective was the fact he was already set up as a good guy in previous episodes. So, we had a similar bias for him as we did for Montoya. One of the things that makes this show so good is their dedication to set up and pay off, which really shows how much care went into it.
Just finished this series! I really liked this episode lol. I thought Onomatopoeia was going to have some kind of sound based powers, but it turning out that he’s just a normal hitman who literally blurts out Onomatopoeia’s for his actions was really funny! I loved how Batman played into it and said “Pow” as he punched him 😂 I really like how Bruce’s construction site for “Wayne Garden’s” is what ended up helping out the group. Bruce’s charity and giving back to Gotham ended up helping them out.
I wouldn't call Onamatapia neurodivergent at all, he's just eerie. Would be nice to see an explicitly neurodivergent villain instead, maybe one based on a real life villain who was neurodivergent. ♾️
I always thought that The Clock King in BTAS was a neurodivergent villain. He was so focused on timing everything down to the second that he couldn't handle it when things diverged from his schedule.
Villain wise, I think the only design I like is the new Clayface, he reminds me of the original House of Wax movie killer, same with Phantom of the Opera too. 👻 😱
Nice to see I'm not the only one who got neurodivergent vibes from Onomatopoeia in this episode, it honestly made me like him a lot more (and he's already a character I think is pretty cool) Specifically, with the way his henchmen hype him up (and even kinda with the whole "sound effect" thing in general a little), he strikes me as someone with narcissistic personality disorder (something that makes him more relatable to me as someone who likely also has that same disorder- I'm undiagnosed but I've been told by mental health professionals that it's incredibly likely)- which despite a lot of people using the word "narcissist" to mean a manipulative, self-absorbed asshole, the actual meaning of the disorder is much more accurately described as you requiring people to express that they like you and/or show empathy for you a lot more often than other people to maintain a positive self-image, engaging in more grandiose and exaggerated behaviors in order to try to get people to pay attention to you and give you those compliments, and struggling to empathize with others (do keep in mind that this isn't a comprehensive list of traits, and that like with any kind of neurodivergence it varies a decent amount from person to person- this is just the symptoms that I, as well as the symptoms most people I've spoken to with the disorder, possess most noticeably)
I don't think public defenders get to choose their clients, at least not all the time. Muller's case could've just been assigned to Barbara, who simply did the best (non-corrupt) job she could with what she had available.
As far as the oddly inclusive thing: its because onamotapea is a villain who just so happens to be openly autistic. Which is what true inclusion looks like. No real call outs are made. He just is, and his guys love him and support him as he is. And also, he def. Doesn’t need the coddling, which actually goes to show why they let him lead. I imagine he coddles them in his own way too.
While this episode may not be as special in my opinion at least we had Onomatopeia in mainstream media. Onomatopeia may not be special though maybe we didn't need to. Onomatopeia was fun as a villain entertainment wise, Muller was a despicable man who never cared for noone but himself, and Detective Corrigan was an unexpected yet interesting twist villain in the end. It makes sense considering the man was loyal to the Gordon family and while his motivation is typical it makes sense. Perhaps he wanted to earn money for decent income since the job was getting ridiculous. Perhaps he was so tired with teaming up with the crew believing that by casting them out he would get more money. It's a shame though that Deadshot was a blink and miss it cameo. Too bad he simply a ONEshot for a villain. Overall this might be number 8. I do feel besides Onomatopeia being the stand out I am a bit annoyed the villains weren't as compelling than previous episodes. Perhaps that was the point but the Firebug episode was the best one at showing the corruption of Gotham. But here I just feel a bit frustrated we need another corruption of law. Sorry I just never cared for this episode besides Onomatopeia. Though if there are at least some pros Barbara is becoming my favorites now from a attorney to a person realizing the corruption of Gotham. She had to learn the hard way. Anf I do admit we were able to see Onomatopeia on the big screen. A youtuber named Mr Rogues still believes Onomatopeia is hard to adapt because his gimmick is comic based. True it is limited but I do feel Onomatopeia even though he wasn't a stand out character was at least utilized. Perhaps we could've had Onomatopeia mimic sounds from others, making the people unsure who said it or distract them with strange sounds. And Onomatepeia being neurodivergent in your eyes...well as a neurodivergent person maybe though that's just my headcanon. But hey that's my two cents on the episode.
I was watching this episode in the room. As a forner Government employee she pointed out that the way Barbara Gordon confronted her former client would likely come back to haunt her. If so, it's one of the things I hope they address in season two. Especially when the series has done a good job of showing consequences of the characters' actions.
The Specter is truly one under of the underutilized characters, same with Jonah Hex. Its a shame there is only 12 minute long DC showcase animation from both of them. I would be great to get full season.
I did really enjoy seeing Onomatopoeia in the series since Ive always thought he was an underrated DC villain in the comics, I thought his gimmick in the show was really funny, and I liked all the callbacks to the old giant text bubbles of the classic Batman shows, though I do wish he wasn't just used as a simple assassin out for cash since Ive always liked his motivations of hunting down vigilantes int he comics but obviously the show couldn't do that since Batman is the only vigilante in this show, so I understand that. I really did expect the twist of Jim Corrigan being a dirty cop who'd betray Gordon, as it really was unexpected and whether or not we see Jim Corrigan back as Spectre is up for debate since I don't know if they'd have him as Specre so soon but who knows?
I am guessing that the crime muller did was something really bad like SA or something like that and the writers didn't feel like putting that into the show out of fear that they would probably get complaints so left it at him saying he did some bad things. I don't think it was robbery because yes he would have gone to blackgate he wouldn't have been put into solitary just for simple robbery.
The deadshot being a rival to batman in fighting crime made me remember a interesting fact, while guns are more lethal then fists, not all people who get shot die, especially with modern medical technology (and even with old stuff and who knows what tech these guys have). And on the flip side, people IRL who get hit with fists do die. And speaking of lethality of guns 1. to make sure people do hit all training is to go for body shots, and 2. even with headshots all kinds of people do survive depending on caliber, whole metal rods have gone though peoples head and that person survived, give it his personality changed because brain stuff. Allot of children's media or like seem to have things in absolutes, when reality of what is lethal or not is grey. Que to the arkam batman game where the car had some kind of knockout cannon.... yea I get it adhering to the rule but logically it makes no sense, something that big never kills someone.
The thing that makes me mad is not anything major- it’s the count of Onomatopoeia’s goons. The first shot shows 9 goons. The Battle of Wayne Gardens then has more than 13 show up, or guys just got up and started throwing hands again.
Im a bit late to this and i dont normally write comments on these videos, but i personally think onomatopoeia maybe had something happened to his voice cords (this is from how he a skilled fighter and maybe something happened before he hid his identity), where he cant talk for long periods of time. im mostly going off of how his voice actor seems to do his voice when he makes his own sound effects, it feels a bit strained; or thats must me😅
Tbh this one is easily the episode I disliked the most in the show. Onomatopoeia is not in it enough. I’d rather have him be the one Barbara and Corrigan were struggling to defeat and then have Batman show up. I didn’t like that the client who started the hit on Barbara is someone we haven’t seen before. The discussion Barbara has with her father reaches an interesting conclusion but I didn’t notice her character changing nor feeling conflicted because of it in the subsequent episodes. It was hard to watch Montoya treating Barbara as some privileged kid. They are supposed to be friends, yet on that scene, seemingly out of nowhere, she called her out on her beliefs (a role already filled by her father).
I really hated that twist where Jim Corrigan a villain as he becomes the Spectre and remember I said about Onomatopoeia was originally going to be the Arrow episode where he was no doubt going that hitman in the episode but especially since this episode is more noir and it reminds me of L.A. Confidential final fight. Knowing Deadshot is here no doubt that the Suicide squad is far behind.
I doubt that the suicide squad is anywhere near coming tobthis show. The suicide squad requires a lot of circumstances that are just not shown present in the show. It would be really jarring at this point. As Serum Lake said, this likely isn't the Specter Jim Corrigan, but the corrupt cop from the gcpd comic, who isn't the same person as the one that became the Specter.
The spectre doesn't need to be a hero. Have a man who lost his life not go after his killer, but the killers of others. He does not do good deed because he want to, but he a angry spirt that need to do it. Batman will release the spectre from his suffering even if he doing good thing like killing murders.
I do see some neurodivergence in Ono, I wonder if he's nonverbal autistic and "talks" the way he does as a form of speech therapy to communicate what he wants to say to others/his goons
They better have Deadshot with his costume in season 2. I would have him make a deal with the police to catch Batman since the task force is still a thing. And we’ve seen how bad cops Ike flass and bullock can keep getting away with stuff so Deadshot could work his way up the ladder and replace them as leaders of the task force and have his own police minions.
I’m not sure if there is enough to say about the version in Caped Crusader, given his short onscreen time. Maybe I could bundle him together with Rupert Thorne and Anton Knight?
The main villain should have been Deadshot. I like Onomatopoeia but I realise that he works better in comics. In an adaption, Onomatopoeia making sounds effects just comes off as silly and Caped Crusader is supoose to be a "mature" version of Batman. Deadshot would have been a much better choice but instead they turned him intona bloody jobber. As for Corrigan, he was just too obvious. I know he is based on the modern version (who was corrupt) but it was so on the nose near the end and very generic.
It works because Onomatopoeia is such a weird left turn your brain just narrows in to see where things are going. You can't really do that with a regular character like Deadshot (as regular as you can get in comics, that is)
i feel like onomatopeia worked a lot better than deadshot would have - ive got a lot of fatigue with regular / mainstream villains and vastly liked the more goofy but still threatening onomatopeia, he worked fine here.

I was just listening to this casually, and then I had the craziest spike of neuron activation when I heard the name "Roger Craig Smith"
Onomatopoeia honestly cracked me up. His eccentricities made him such a fun character to watch
Onomatopoeia is now my favourite villain from literally anything: he's a possibly autistic, well designed assassin who's well themed and generally amazing.
A part of me hopes that Lawton survived his encounters and that we see him later on dawning his iconic red, and silver costume.
Or possibly the top-hat given the show's vibe.
I’d wager that’s the plan. This episode shows a young and inexperienced version of Deadshot. Eventually he’ll escape or get let out, and overtime he’ll turn into the more threatening Deadshot we know.
I’m pretty sure he was the guy in the hospital Batman visited.
He didn't die He was put I the hospital
@@l0stndamnedmabey a mix of both idk how it'd work but mabey it could
I don’t think Arnold Flass actually cared that Gordon was nearly assassinated, he mainly made such a statement to save face.
Didn't realize Deadshot even appeared. 😅 I also liked being introduced to Oneimodepia since we get to know more obscure DC villains.
"Onomatopoeia"
@thebatmanofneo-gotham5667 Sorry, it was auto-corrected. It wouldn't do 'Onomatopoeia'.
@@bearberserker Ah, okay. Got you. My bad.
It showed that both Gordon and his daughter were stubborn and blinded by their own flaws. James's pride and Barbara's naive and trusting nature.
I love how Deadshot is definitely teased, but only Floyd is here
I loved Onomatopoeia! As much as I adore the insane mimicing serial killer, the hitman version is a pretty cool idea
This is the only veruson of him I've seen and I think he's awesome
I hope if Floyd Lawton returns in the show we’ll see him in costume. Wanting to step up his game after getting taken down so easily in front of everyone.
Only if it's the classic with the top hat.
@@jordanloux3883 Hmm maybe classic outfit mixed with the modern costume. Something a bit more “bullet resistant” so he doesn’t get taken down again by another cop’s bullet.
Definitely

I'm gonna say one thing about Caped Crusader, and it's what I'm willing to say about BTAS, too, but the show has so, so much love for Batman as a character and his world that I'm in awe. Even with this episode, where Mueller admitted that he had Chief O'Hara from the 1966 series taking bribes and Onomatopoeia's dialogue mostly just being the sort of BAM/SOCK/ETC. stuff from the same show.
Evil does hide in plain sight...
Time will tell if the show shall be treated kindly, just like Batman Beyond, The Batman 2004, and The Brave and the Bold from years before.
@@SerumLake
I have a feeling it’s definitely mostly just a loud minority of grifters. I thought season one was great!
100 eps is doubtful. Best thing it can manage is 50 to 65 eps.
They'd need 10 seasons for 100 eps unless they used yhe episode count
I think it’s kinda neat when they shuffle around villains from the greater DC universe. It makes stuff a little more dynamic.
Clock King's a green arrow vilian and he was in the anaimted series and let's be real when tf are we ever gonna get a hawk man show or movie and green arrow isn't that popular so I doubt we'd ever get a anaimted series with him
@@nicolasbanidol2371when deathstroke first came in with that flying suit I thought ut was bloodsport tbh
They COULD just introduce another Jim Corrigan, maybe as a retired detective or already as The Spectre.

What made Corrigan's betrayal so effective was the fact he was already set up as a good guy in previous episodes. So, we had a similar bias for him as we did for Montoya.
One of the things that makes this show so good is their dedication to set up and pay off, which really shows how much care went into it.
Oh we love the boss!
Yeah he treats us well!
And we love his Sound effects!
Onomatopoeia: Ding Ding Ding!!🎉🎉🎉
Just finished this series! I really liked this episode lol. I thought Onomatopoeia was going to have some kind of sound based powers, but it turning out that he’s just a normal hitman who literally blurts out Onomatopoeia’s for his actions was really funny! I loved how Batman played into it and said “Pow” as he punched him 😂
I really like how Bruce’s construction site for “Wayne Garden’s” is what ended up helping out the group.

My favourite episode. The show's version of Onomatopoeia got me to love a character I normally find really annoying in the comics.
Villain wise, I think the only design I like is the new Clayface, he reminds me of the original House of Wax movie killer, same with Phantom of the Opera too. 👻 😱
His design is just “MWAH” perfection. I’m a big fan of this show’s Harley Quinn design as well.

I didn’t spot that!
Nice to see I'm not the only one who got neurodivergent vibes from Onomatopoeia in this episode, it honestly made me like him a lot more (and he's already a character I think is pretty cool)
Specifically, with the way his henchmen hype him up (and even kinda with the whole "sound effect" thing in general a little), he strikes me as someone with narcissistic personality disorder (something that makes him more relatable to me as someone who likely also has that same disorder- I'm undiagnosed but I've been told by mental health professionals that it's incredibly likely)- which despite a lot of people using the word "narcissist" to mean a manipulative, self-absorbed asshole, the actual meaning of the disorder is much more accurately described as you requiring people to express that they like you and/or show empathy for you a lot more often than other people to maintain a positive self-image, engaging in more grandiose and exaggerated behaviors in order to try to get people to pay attention to you and give you those compliments, and struggling to empathize with others (do keep in mind that this isn't a comprehensive list of traits, and that like with any kind of neurodivergence it varies a decent amount from person to person- this is just the symptoms that I, as well as the symptoms most people I've spoken to with the disorder, possess most noticeably)
6:50 SONIC????? IN MY BATMAN SHOW???

I don't think public defenders get to choose their clients, at least not all the time. Muller's case could've just been assigned to Barbara, who simply did the best (non-corrupt) job she could with what she had available.
Hilary didn't with the rape case and she didn't want to represent him
Have you ever watched "something incredibly offensive" by Drew Langlois? The gang's super supportive vibes remind me of that video.
Didnt know Corrigan was voiced by Roger Craig Smith
Gotham City's looking a lot more like Sand City now!
It would be cool to see Deadshot return in the future, since he didn't appear in BTAS
Justice League is a sequel to BTAS
Awesome!😊🤗🫂

Dam that sucks yet very interesting points!
I was watching this episode in the room. As a forner Government employee she pointed out that the way Barbara Gordon confronted her former client would likely come back to haunt her. If so, it's one of the things I hope they address in season two. Especially when the series has done a good job of showing consequences of the characters' actions.
0:30 Damn. He really took a plate and introduced his head to it.
I hope Floyd Lawton comes back more like the more comic or modern versions by breaking out, just like his original story.
This was my favorite episode.
I don't think we'll see new superheroes in in the caped crusader universe for a long time BUT we will HEAR about them
I hope Onomatopoeia and his crew return in Season 2.
And Corrigan. I hope he gets redeemed.
I'm honestly surprised to see Onomatopoeia here. Wasn't he a one off villain created by Kevin Smith?
Im a bit late to this and i dont normally write comments on these videos, but i personally think onomatopoeia maybe had something happened to his voice cords (this is from how he a skilled fighter and maybe something happened before he hid his identity), where he cant talk for long periods of time. im mostly going off of how his voice actor seems to do his voice when he makes his own sound effects, it feels a bit strained; or thats must me😅
What does Corrigan became the Spectre as a punishment? Y'know as another further vengeance of God?
As a villain, I can confirm that this title (see Jeff Bezos)
Is Go them Central worth Reading just based off the quality of this show ?
What's a good Storyline to start with this series?
Shriek is basically Onomatopoeia, if you think about it.

Onomatopoeia was the star of this episode!
I do see some neurodivergence in Ono, I wonder if he's nonverbal autistic and "talks" the way he does as a form of speech therapy to communicate what he wants to say to others/his goons
It is also more efficient and effective
His goons were competent for the most part
It could be a form of echolalia.

They better have Deadshot with his costume in season 2. I would have him make a deal with the police to catch Batman since the task force is still a thing.
You can't really do that with a regular character like Deadshot (as regular as you can get in comics, that is)
@jordanloux3883Deadshot. And I see your point.
