That was the entire point of that segment: A star who is still fairly "hot" with the audience, leaving for private reasons before their run is over or the wave of buzz and popularity has broken or flattened out - and what that means to the business of a promoter who built that star up. From an old-school promoter's perspective, he had a point. He was not talking about the situation in general, because CLEARLY it had a lot more aspects to consider to it from other perspectives. But that was not what he was talking about. Context is important. Well, not on Twitter or in the IWC where nobody understands contexts or timelinesand everything is just about quote-mining for tribalist verbal warfare - but in real life it is!

I enjoy the parts about wrestling training because I also made the some of the same decisions and sacrifices when it came to wrestling training, I always dreamed of continuing my training in Calgary at Lances School - but before that, I went to Squared Circle in Toronto in ...2002 and Ron Hutchinson & Fuego were running the classes...but I first trained at HBKS's Academy in San Antonio in 2000 after choosing HBK over The Hart Brothers camp in Canada... but after Texas and graduating Shawns Academy I decided to come back to Canada...Lance seemed like the next logical best step to top my training off - but I never made it out to Calgary...in time! I was however also fortunate enough to get in the ring with Shane Douglas one afternoon too, another solid as f person as well as a great Pro Wrestling mind & performer, in my books. Great Interview, Lance Storm is a true pro! I didnt want this to be over, I hope there is more soon!
Training at Lance's school in the winter of 2015 was one of the most challenging experiences of my life, despite how nice, generous and caring (and fun/funny!) Lance was. I distinctly remember, one day in the middle of training, looking up at the clock to see how much time we had left in practice. And that's when I realized something "terrible". I realized that I never do that when I rehearse in theatre, or rehearse when working on a stand-up comedy set (at the time, my main interests had been acting, stand-up comedy, and I had been convinced that pro wrestling was the thing for me). It was a terrible realization because it meant that I didn't really love pro wrestling like I thought I did. It meant I had more of a vague interest in it rather than an all-out passion. Because, as long as I'm fed and hydrated, I could rehearse a play or a monologue almost all day, since I truly love those passions. And as I also looked around at my fellow students, I saw that some of them lived and breathed this thing we were doing (shout-out to Gisele Shaw!). I wasn't. So not only was I not a natural athlete, but I didn't even have an obsession with the sport/art form to compensate. My heart sank as I realized that I could either quit in the middle of training (which I didn't want to do) or that I could do the best I could for the remaining weeks, but ultimately I now knew that I'd made a mistake coming here. 8 years later and I can now say that, while I still sometimes struggle to pay the bills and I work day gigs to pay them, my main focus now is on something that I truly love, that I'm truly passionate about. Training at Storm Wrestling Academy taught me several things, and one of them is that: in my opinion, if you don't "feel it", if you're not willing to go the extra mile, give it your all, then something like pro wrestling is probably not for you. And I learned it the hard way, but I'm so very thankful that I had the humility to cut my losses and follow a path that was truly right for me. Phenomenal Interview chris! Lance has been said to be someone who can't talk very well and that maybe true in promo's. However, in interviews he is one of the most interesting and truly fascinating guy to just sit back and listen too. You should 100% get Jim Cornette on here now that you've had Russo and Storm, that would be a super interesting locker room.
I have always loved Lance Storm for his gimmicks and especially in ring ability. As a lifelong WCW fan, and as someone who still lives, breathes, and bleeds for WCW to this day, finding out that Lance was a WCW fan first, and WWE fan second makes me SO HAPPY!!! WCW FOR LIFE!!!!!!

I love me some lance storm, ever since I was watching early 2000s he was always a favorite. I would disagree with what has caused the recent explosion in wrestling interest. While aew is def a part of it, something has happened the past 2 years that has REALLY put wrestling on a much higher arc.i think it's a combination of aew, the bloodline, Cody and even Vince "stepping down" and wwe has been a such more improved company since that happened. A combination of all of those has caused interest to really increase recently.

Thank God Lance understands that Meltzer's ratings are just his opinion. This idea of trying to "debunk" someone's opinion is beyond my understanding. I get it, Chris here is a WWE guy and wants Meltzer's ratings to reflect that, and for some reason, it seems like it bugs him that Dave has a preference. But, Lance's analogy of Siskel and Ebert is spot on. It's just an opinion. You can use it as a guide for picking what show to watch, if your taste lines up with his. If not, who gives a shit? I'll never understand why people get so bothered by Dave having an opinion. So dumb.

Love the way CVV interviews people like Storm and Aldis and actually lets them talk. Fascinating people with interesting stuff to say being allowed to give answers without interruption. Interviewers should be there to put sensible questions then let the guest run with it and thats what we get with CVV. Also gotta say I totally agree with Storm on star ratings. Had their place in tape trading days but now they're just counterproductive.

Another amazing interview. That thing where he said JR told him to stop so JR can put him over is so rich, I hope wrestlers in today's era pick that up. That's really what all oldschool guys are saying with this new generation, the care more about their big spots rather than wrestling psychology and telling a story. They have been saying it for a long time but young guys still don't get it.
I was fortunate enough to watch his run as a Impact Player and then go and dominate WCW. WWE definitely dropped the ball with him, really one of the best that has ever done it.

Man this is my favorite interview. Lance is a super wealth of knowledge and is always happy to give it, such a cool guy.
I have always loved Lance Storm for his gimmicks and especially in ring ability.
As a lifelong WCW fan, and as someone who still lives, breathes, and bleeds for WCW to this day, finding out that Lance was a WCW fan first, and WWE fan second makes me SO HAPPY!!!

I love me some lance storm, ever since I was watching early 2000s he was always a favorite. I would disagree with what has caused the recent explosion in wrestling interest. While aew is def a part of it, something has happened the past 2 years that has REALLY put wrestling on a much higher arc.i think it's a combination of aew, the bloodline, Cody and even Vince "stepping down" and wwe has been a such more improved company since that happened. A combination of all of those has caused interest to really increase recently.

Always loved Lance Storm. Seemed like he would have a great mind for the business. Glad I was right. Funny to hear him talk about the “my city is the best” for his gimmick. Because my current favorite(current wrestler) is my local wrestler Samoa Joe.

"What the heck are these kids doing ?" - Lance Storm vs. Chris Jericho (in Smoky Mountain Wrestling (Hazard, Kentucky), trying to do a high energy NJPW type of match); by slowing down the pace, of a match. I am thinking of the Dukes of Hazard. (the fictional "Hazard county.")

Thank God Lance understands that Meltzer's ratings are just his opinion. This idea of trying to "debunk" someone's opinion is beyond my understanding. I get it, Chris here is a WWE guy and wants Meltzer's ratings to reflect that, and for some reason, it seems like it bugs him that Dave has a preference. But, Lance's analogy of Siskel and Ebert is spot on. It's just an opinion. You can use it as a guide for picking what show to watch, if your taste lines up with his. If not, who gives a shit? I'll never understand why people get so bothered by Dave having an opinion. So dumb.

Woah just now learning Lance is actually from Sarnia. I live in Michigan an hour from Port Huron and you can throw a rock from there and hit Sarnia. Lots of chemical plants I don’t think I’d wanna swim in the water

There's a possible typo in the video description, Chris. I believe it should read "He joins Chris Van Vliet from his home in Calgary... Alberta, Canada", because the pause is absolutely essential when saying where Lance is from.
Love the way CVV interviews people like Storm and Aldis and actually lets them talk. Fascinating people with interesting stuff to say being allowed to give answers without interruption. Interviewers should be there to put sensible questions then let the guest run with it and thats what we get with CVV. Also gotta say I totally agree with Storm on star ratings. Had their place in tape trading days but now they're just counterproductive.
"Is there anything missing from this era?" Lance gave the greatest answer I've ever heard to this question. Brilliantly put. He's so right. What a great mind for the business and it's truly fascinating to hear him speak on psychology.

Another amazing interview. That thing where he said JR told him to stop so JR can put him over is so rich, I hope wrestlers in today's era pick that up. That's really what all oldschool guys are saying with this new generation, the care more about their big spots rather than wrestling psychology and telling a story. They have been saying it for a long time but young guys still don't get it.

I was fortunate enough to watch his run as a Impact Player and then go and dominate WCW. WWE definitely dropped the ball with him, really one of the best that has ever done it.
