    Defragment actually means rearranging all files to stack them up together to clean space , like in a bookshelf instead of keeping one book in every row , you can just arrange them all in one , that's what defragmentation does. Partitioning the disk is where you reserve a certain amount of storage for specific use.

    Tip: If you're trying this using a legacy bios system and not getting that "Install Ubuntu alongside Windows" option, switch to the Windows, connect your bootable drive and delete the folder named "EFI" and then try it.

    Doesn't Rufus format your Pendrive simultaneously? What is the need for a SD card Formatter??
    Also, why did you select FreeDOS if you were planning to change it back to the .iso file?
    Good and informative video man!

    • @PranshuTople
      @PranshuTople  4 года назад +1

      Rufus does it. But it's always better to pre-format it. I usually use my same pendrive to boot various OS. So to remove that OS completely, I use SD card formatter. It's just a good practice. And I used freeDOS just because it should interfere with windows 10. Because sometimes windows thinks the bootable pendrive as malware and it formats it on its own. So I used these specific settings.

    • @PranshuTople
      @PranshuTople  3 года назад +1

      Ubuntu is a very optimised operating system and hence its run very smooth on any hardware. Its NOT like windows where SSD performs better than HDD. And anyways, you might face some issue while doing partition in SSD. Either use full SSD for ubuntu or recommend not using it only. So finally I recommend you to use HDD for Ubuntu. You will not face any problem in that

    and whenever i am in Ubuntu it just shows me the installation page, i already installed it yet it is showing me the installation page, and i see no grub menu and i dont know how to go into my windows computer now. and also it forgets the wifi password

    • @PranshuTople
      @PranshuTople  3 года назад

      Hello Parth, you might have missed a step and due to that your Grub menu is not visible. Please make sure that fast boot in turned off from the BIOS. If you go in bios and turn the fast boot off, it should bring the grub menu. If its still not coming, then in boot order from bios menu, first make the windows at top which will boot you directly to windows instead of ubuntu and then please refer to this blog itsfoss.com/no-grub-windows-linux/
      Also are you sure you installed ubuntu alongside windows?
      And if you are getting installation page again and again that means your ubuntu is not installed.
      And as ubuntu is not installed, it is not storing your wifi password anywhere. and hence it is forgetting password. All this will be solved if you install it properly in the unallocated partition.

    • @PranshuTople
      @PranshuTople  3 года назад +1

      the usb drive is used to temporarily store the installation file of the OS. So that when you boot up, the computer can install OS from drive without actually booting into your hard-disk. And No! you don't have to connect that usb drive every time you boot. You have to do it only once while installation. after that you will get a choice to which os you want to boot. So yes! you disconnect it after installation is done
