I feel like the only issue with sokka being suyins dad is that it is not in character for him to knowingly abandon his daughter. The only way it really works is if Sokka died before finding out.

Toph saves Sun from falling debris during a building collapse after a fire is started from Sun's out control lavabending, and Toph tries to recruit him to join her Metalbending Academy. Sun could be Suyin's father instead of Sokka.

Suyin is not Sokka's daughter, it's satoru from the atla comic *The rift* because suyins hair is the same as satoru's and both him and toph had feelings for each other, there's no way they didn't meet again

A lot of characters had a crush on sokka, but that doesn't mean he's the father of all their kids. Obviously sokka and toph spent a lot of time together and were close, they saved the world together. Yeah suyin's skin color is similar to sokka's but that doesn't prove he is the father. I get it's just a theory but there are so many fans that legitimately believe sokka is the father bc they ship sokka and toph. It was never confirmed that sokka had any kids or even married anyone. If he did it was probably suki bc they ended up together in the end and even in the comics. We don't know anything for sure and it's nice to have theories but do not believe a unconfirmed theory based off what you wanted to happen in the show

I think Su’s father is actually Sun the magma bender from the atla comic Toph Beifong’s Metal Bending academy. Namely because they look so effin similar. Like identical but with age differences from when they’re presented.
Also, Sokka took out Combustion Man with a hit to the head with his boomerang and Suyin took out P'Li with a hit to the head with her armor. Sokka might have told her about how he took out Combustion Man and she did the same.
He wasn't distant. He tried teaching them his love for the air nkmad lifestyle but only Tenzin was interested so Aang thought that the others wouldn't care about spending mich time with him

I'm willing to bet Sokka is her father, I'm more than sure it came out of a short romantic encounter after Suki died young and unexpectedly. It was likely a messy "break up" and either Toph never told him when she found out she was pregnant again or he died before he knew she was pregnant.

There is a big chance that Suki is the mother of Izumi, Zuko's daughter. Because in the comics, Zuko and Mai break up again and Suki has a crush on Zuko and is his personal guard. So we don't know if Sokka married anyone.

I found a quote from Mike DiMartino during his and Konietzko’s retrospective commentary about the episode where Bolin asks who Lin’s dad was: “We didn’t want it to be so simple that it was…not everyone from the old series hooked up with people you know like like people’s lives went on, they met other people that weren’t giant…you know, big characters; yeah they met in the world, they met love interests that were beyond their 12 years…yeah.” Therefore it’s more plausible that Sokka is not Suyin’s father. If you want another candidate, I suggest looking to that inventor guy that Toph met during the harmony restoration movement in Yu Dao.
Gotta be Sokka. I know people think this tarnishes his character but life is complicated. There may be circumstances that explain it. For example, maybe Sokka didn’t know and Toph didn’t say. Perhaps Sokka had just started another family and Tooh didn’t want to ruin that or maybe Sokka was fighting someone dangerous like the red lotus who might have targeted his daughter. Or maybe Toph was just being typical independent, stubborn Toph lol. If it’s true though, it’s lucky Tenzin dated the older daughter!

Toph never went the logical or responsible route, mainly cause it would involve going against her belief that she can carry her own weight. Route 1 would be give her children up for adoption (Im sorry, but she is a TERRIBLE mother) Route 2, tell the baby daddies about their kids and share the responsibility. Route 3, discipline and talk with your kids.
My headcannon is that Suyin is the product of the life-changing adventure Zuko owed toph. Canonically, Zuko and Mai break up in the Comics and have yet to get back together. However it is assumed that they did get back together and have Izumi. My reason for why I think Zuko is the father is because he is the only boy other than Sokka who toph shows an interest in. She defends him (albeit from a logical not emotional POV), isn’t shy about opening up to him about her hardships, and on quite a few occasions punched him in the shoulder which she said was her way of showing affection. My Theory is that Zuko owed Toph a proper life changing adventure and gave it to her. Him being the fire lord would have been reason enough to keep the thing under wraps. Even if Mai had died at this point, and Zuko decided to get with Toph, the fire lord having not only an earthbending lover, but Toph Beifong would be too controversial. If Suyin was the product of this adventure, Toph would have most likely not told Zuko because news of an illegitimate child would cause major controversy and trouble for the both of them. We see in TLOK that Toph has no problem sweeping things under the rug and making sure certain things never come to light. Hence if this were all true, it would make sense that Toph would not want Suyin to know Zuko is her father. Plus Suyin’s eyes are green which would have begged even more questions if Zuko officially recognised her as his child. Another reason I think Suyin is Zuko’s daughter is because of their character development, although this may be a stretch. Both of them were fairly rebellious teens until they were sent away and met someone who completely changed their lives and set them on the path for greatness. For Zuko, it was Iroh. For Suyin, it was Bataar. Anyways, this is just my theory.

Sokka was a councilman in Republic City, meaning he spent nearly all of his time there. So, if he did get Toph pregnant, he'd probably know. However, there's no indication that he ever told anyone about this, and he's not the type to neglect his own child (since he spent most of his childhood separated from his own father). So, he's probably not Suyin's father.
One of the many reasons that Korra sucked compared to AtLA; They kept throwing in needless details about characters that did not actually serve as character traits but just served as jingling keys of diversity and representation. “Look! We have orphans! Look! We have gay! Look! Was have two different fathers! Keep looking, don’t pay attention to anything other than the garbage we’re shaking in your face!”
Being Sokka’s kid would mean that Suyin and Tenzin would be cousins. I feel like that would’ve been brought up if that was the case and making his and Lin relationship more awkward and weird. Also I don’t see sokka breaking up or cheating on Suki.
I'm guessing that Toph had no problem with casual/FWB relations and wasn't that interested in anything long term, which makes it that much more likely that Sokka is Suyin's father.
But sokka not meeting his daughter for 30 years when half of this time they loved in same city is just wrong. Sokka is loyal so I don't see him cheating on Suki and isn't stupid so I don't see him not connecting daughter that is born 9months after he "did the thing". And Sokka was really focused on his father and how important he was in his life I can't imagine him just never be in her life
LOK was released when expectations of kids shows were a normal heterosexual family. Even the LGBT development had to be toned down to "IYKYK". I wouldn't be surprised if Nick did not want them to write Toph as an immoral cheater and intentionally made Suyin's father vague. I can see a lot of fans pissed that they didn't make the original Team Avatar flawless. Their fame and fortune after the war can take a toll on them and cause them to become flawed characters.
I believe that she is Sokkas daughter, but he never met her. Not because he is asshole, but considering Suki is also not really mentioned in the Korea series. Here is how I see it. Sokka married Suki. Toph gets together with guy 1. Suki dies in childbirth. Toph comforts Sokka after Suki’s death. Sokka finds out he is going to be a dad, but is killed by the red lotus before he could celebrate. Toph then hides it from Aang, Zuko and Katara as she isn’t the best at showing emotion. Zuko probably assumes something but is forced by Toph to shut up.
I dont know if this is even a clue but... Kanto...didnt work out... These words are too misleading. We all know that toph is not one to admit she is mistaken. At least not easily. If i string a few events together. Maybe sokka and toph got in a few drinks after a good days job. Celebrate a bit. Got too drunk to go home. And sokka becoming too intoxicated, may have jumped on toph. And toph, too drunk to even make a decision. Later, toph gets pregnant but kanto doubts its his. Kanto confronts toph about it. And as stubborn as she is, i dont think toph would admit to it. Leading to kanto and toph breaking up. Maybe sokka and suki are still together, and toph does not want to break that relationship, thus leading her to raise suyin alone. She's rich, so money isnt a problem. Later, sokka may have known its his kid and want to own up, but died. My conclusions were; If it were anyone else, like sun or any other guy, why wouldn't toph just say his name like he did with kanto? If anything, toph's silence may be the answer. Toph does not wish to burden suyin by saying that her birth is the reason lin's father left them. Suyin would feel miserable all her life if ever toph did that. So she kept quiet. Also, i think toph treasures both her friends and family too much to ruin it. Sokka and suki could be engaged to married or already married when she got pregnant with suyin. And imagine how katara, suki, aang and the others will treat her if they know the truth. This the only reason i see why toph lives in seclusion and isolation in the swamp. She feels guilty for suyin, lin, her husband kanto, aang, sokka, suki, katara and everyone else involved. The reason toph quit metalbending police is i think, her guilt is affecting her work. She lives alone in the swamp because 1. So she could keep this secret to her grave and not accidentaly blurt it out. 2. She is punishing herself. Otherwise, if it were any other guy. Dont you think toph would just tell us the name, like sun or satoru or kanto. Her silence, her isolation, her grumpy attitude. I think it speaks volumes... That sokka may be has the highest chance of being suyin's dad.
Maybe there is no Kanto. It's in Tophs character to lie about details, so she may be using a fake name idk just thought I'd throw it out there. Also I think Suki and Sokka make a better couple just my opinion. That doesn't mean I couldn't see him and Toph coming together, but if so something had to have happened to him before Suyin was born he had to have been killed and its a painful memory for Toph so she doesn't want to talk about it maybe.

I personally like to think Sokka’s the father. It seems unfair that he’d be the only one out of the gang who didn’t have kids. Also, there’s the fact that Suki is never mentioned or even shown in the adult years, which makes me think that maybe she and Sokka only had a teen romance. 🤷🏽♀️ You know, the war brought them together, so it makes sense that they’d go back to their original lives and become distant. And while I don’t agree with favoritism, I could totally see Toph treating the daughter of the man she loved with more maternal affection and treating the daughter of man that she didn’t necessarily care for with basic tolerance. 🤔 Just a thought. And as for the whole Tenzin and Lin thing, it would be unusual but not necessarily wrong for Tenzin to date his cousin’s half-sister. After all, he shared a blood tie with Suyin, not Lin. Therefore, no lines would be crossed. It’s not incest.
Besides, it's not like Tenzin would have known anyways. When she found out he was dating her daughter, Toph probably didn't even tell him then. As long as he wasn't going out with the one he was related to she would think "eh, not my business"

A lot of characters had a crush on sokka, but that doesn't mean he's the father of all their kids. Obviously sokka and toph spent a lot of time together and were close, they saved the world together. Yeah suyin's skin color is similar to sokka's but that doesn't prove he is the father. I get it's just a theory but there are so many fans that legitimately believe sokka is the father bc they ship sokka and toph. It was never confirmed that sokka had any kids or even married anyone. I think Su’s father is actually Sun the magma bender from the atla comic Toph Beifong’s Metal Bending academy. Namely because they look so effin similar. Like identical but with age differences from when they’re presented.
Also, Sokka took out Combustion Man with a hit to the head with his boomerang and Suyin took out P'Li with a hit to the head with her armor. Sokka might have told her about how he took out Combustion Man and she did the same.

I'm willing to bet Sokka is her father, I'm more than sure it came out of a short romantic encounter after Suki died young and unexpectedly. It was likely a messy "break up" and either Toph never told him when she found out she was pregnant again or he died before he knew she was pregnant.

I found a quote from Mike DiMartino during his and Konietzko’s retrospective commentary about the episode where Bolin asks who Lin’s dad was: “We didn’t want it to be so simple that it was…not everyone from the old series hooked up with people you know like like people’s lives went on, they met other people that weren’t giant…you know, big characters; yeah they met in the world, they met love interests that were beyond their 12 years…yeah.” Therefore it’s more plausible that Sokka is not Suyin’s father. If you want another candidate, I suggest looking to that inventor guy that Toph met during the harmony restoration movement in Yu Dao.

Gotta be Sokka. I know people think this tarnishes his character but life is complicated. There may be circumstances that explain it. For example, maybe Sokka didn’t know and Toph didn’t say. Perhaps Sokka had just started another family and Tooh didn’t want to ruin that or maybe Sokka was fighting someone dangerous like the red lotus who might have targeted his daughter. Toph never went the logical or responsible route, mainly cause it would involve going against her belief that she can carry her own weight. Route 1 would be give her children up for adoption (Im sorry, but she is a TERRIBLE mother) Route 2, tell the baby daddies about their kids and share the responsibility. Route 3, discipline and talk with your kids.
My headcannon is that Suyin is the product of the life-changing adventure Zuko owed toph. Canonically, Zuko and Mai break up in the Comics and have yet to get back together. However it is assumed that they did get back together and have Izumi.
My reason for why I think Zuko is the father is because he is the only boy other than Sokka who toph shows an interest in. She defends him (albeit from a logical not emotional POV), isn’t shy about opening up to him about her hardships, and on quite a few occasions punched him in the shoulder which she said was her way of showing affection.
My Theory is that Zuko owed Toph a proper life changing adventure and gave it to her. Him being the fire lord would have been reason enough to keep the thing under wraps. Even if Mai had died at this point, and Zuko decided to get with Toph, the fire lord having not only an earthbending lover, but Toph Beifong would be too controversial. If Suyin was the product of this adventure, Toph would have most likely not told Zuko because news of an illegitimate child would cause major controversy and trouble for the both of them. We see in TLOK that Toph has no problem sweeping things under the rug and making sure certain things never come to light. Hence if this were all true, it would make sense that Toph would not want Suyin to know Zuko is her father.
Plus Suyin’s eyes are green which would have begged even more questions if Zuko officially recognised her as his child.
Another reason I think Suyin is Zuko’s daughter is because of their character development, although this may be a stretch.
Both of them were fairly rebellious teens until they were sent away and met someone who completely changed their lives and set them on the path for greatness. For Zuko, it was Iroh. For Suyin, it was Bataar.
Anyways, this is just my theory.

1. I feel like Toph wouldn’t keep Katara from her niece.. I also just feel like Sokka wouldn’t just knowingly abandon his daughter.

3. The chance of Suyin maybe being Sokka’s daughter just bc the have similar skintones is quite slim, there are also earthbenders with similar skintones.
And yes I understand Toph spent a lot of time with Sokka and did show interest in him for those reasons, I’m just gonna end this by saying it’s not impossible.
Sokka was a councilman in Republic City, meaning he spent nearly all of his time there. So, if he did get Toph pregnant, he'd probably know. However, there's no indication that he ever told anyone about this, and he's not the type to neglect his own child (since he spent most of his childhood separated from his own father). So, he's probably not Suyin's father.
One of the many reasons that Korra sucked compared to AtLA;
They kept throwing in needless details about characters that did not actually serve as character traits but just served as jingling keys of diversity and representation.

Being Sokka’s kid would mean that Suyin and Tenzin would be cousins. I feel like that would’ve been brought up if that was the case and making his and Lin relationship more awkward and weird. Also I don’t see sokka breaking up or cheating on Suki.
I'm guessing that Toph had no problem with casual/FWB relations and wasn't that interested in anything long term, which makes it that much more likely that Sokka is Suyin's father.
But sokka not meeting his daughter for 30 years when half of this time they loved in same city is just wrong. Sokka is loyal so I don't see him cheating on Suki and isn't stupid so I don't see him not connecting daughter that is born 9months after he "did the thing". And Sokka was really focused on his father and how important he was in his life I can't imagine him just never be in her life
LOK was released when expectations of kids shows were a normal heterosexual family. Even the LGBT development had to be toned down to "IYKYK". I wouldn't be surprised if Nick did not want them to write Toph as an immoral cheater and intentionally made Suyin's father vague.
I can see a lot of fans pissed that they didn't make the original Team Avatar flawless. Their fame and fortune after the war can take a toll on them and cause them to become flawed characters.

I believe that she is Sokkas daughter, but he never met her. Not because he is asshole, but considering Suki is also not really mentioned in the Korea series. Here is how I see it.
Sokka married Suki.
Toph gets together with guy 1.
Suki dies in childbirth.
Toph comforts Sokka after Suki’s death.
Sokka finds out he is going to be a dad, but is killed by the red lotus before he could celebrate.
Toph then hides it from Aang, Zuko and Katara as she isn’t the best at showing emotion.
Zuko probably assumes something but is forced by Toph to shut up.
I dont know if this is even a clue but...

These words are too misleading.
We all know that toph is not one to admit she is mistaken.
At least not easily.
If i string a few events together.
Maybe sokka and toph got in a few drinks after a good days job. Celebrate a bit. Got too drunk to go home.
And sokka becoming too intoxicated, may have jumped on toph. And toph, too drunk to even make a decision.
Later, toph gets pregnant but kanto doubts its his.
Kanto confronts toph about it.
And as stubborn as she is, i dont think toph would admit to it. Leading to kanto and toph breaking up.
Maybe sokka and suki are still together, and toph does not want to break that relationship, thus leading her to raise suyin alone. She's rich, so money isnt a problem.
Later, sokka may have known its his kid and want to own up, but died.
My conclusions were;
If it were anyone else, like sun or any other guy, why wouldn't toph just say his name like he did with kanto?
If anything, toph's silence may be the answer.
Toph does not wish to burden suyin by saying that her birth is the reason lin's father left them.
Suyin would feel miserable all her life if ever toph did that. So she kept quiet.
Also, i think toph treasures both her friends and family too much to ruin it.
Sokka and suki could be engaged to married or already married when she got pregnant with suyin.
And imagine how katara, suki, aang and the others will treat her if they know the truth.
This the only reason i see why toph lives in seclusion and isolation in the swamp.
She feels guilty for suyin, lin, her husband kanto, aang, sokka, suki, katara and everyone else involved.
The reason toph quit metalbending police is i think, her guilt is affecting her work.
She lives alone in the swamp because
1. So she could keep this secret to her grave and not accidentaly blurt it out.
2. She is punishing herself.

I personally like to think Sokka’s the father. It seems unfair that he’d be the only one out of the gang who didn’t have kids. Also, there’s the fact that Suki is never mentioned or even shown in the adult years, which makes me think that maybe she and Sokka only had a teen romance. 🤷🏽♀️ You know, the war brought them together, so it makes sense that they’d go back to their original lives and become distant.
Also, I like the idea of Sokka and Toph have a brief romance that was based off of years of friendship and getting through hardship together. Kanto just sounds like he was some random one-night stand that the writers came up with just they could give “something” to the fans. 😒 Also, there’s the fact that Suyin is clearly Toph’s favorite. And while I don’t agree with favoritism, I could totally see Toph treating the daughter of the man she loved with more maternal affection and treating the daughter of man that she didn’t necessarily care for with basic tolerance. 🤔 Just a thought.
And as for the whole Tenzin and Lin thing, it would be unusual but not necessarily wrong for Tenzin to date his cousin’s half-sister. After all, he shared a blood tie with Suyin, not Lin. Therefore, no lines would be crossed. It’s not incest.
Besides, it's not like Tenzin would have known anyways. When she found out he was dating her daughter, Toph probably didn't even tell him then. As long as he wasn't going out with the one he was related to she would think "eh, not my business"
