That looks awesome and you were patient letting it all come in over 7 weeks! I tend to get inpatient with growing new grass and overseed areas if I don't see growth coming in. In this case, you being patient was the key. It is going to look great next season.
Wow, that looks great. I'm a beginner who's going to reseed my lawn. I thought I couldn't put seed in until the beginning of September. I'll start my project as soon as my seed arrives next week.
@@i_try_diy I'm in the Virginia area and the temperature is between 90 and 95 and it will start to drop next week starting Thursday. And thank you very much for answering here, you've earned yourself a new subscriber.
@@i_try_diy Thank you for all the hard work and detailed video!! Really helps beginners like me! I have shared this video to some of my neighbors!! There is a grub issue spreading in my area. Do you recommend grub killer over the newly sprouted grasslings? Or should I wait until spring? What is your recommendation?
@s.shankarsateesh7235 I would recommend waiting until your new grass is a bit more established. Probably best to wait until it's growing strong in springtime
I went through a similar process (minus the scarifying) on August 9th and laid seed down on August 10th. Used Ryan Knorr’s KBG blend and 8 days later started to see germination. Saturday will be 2 weeks. Excited as can be because I was expecting not to see germination until closer to September
@@i_try_diy nice ! I was going to hold off on my backyard renovation until next year but I saw your video and couldn’t help but to get started this fall lol. I order my new seed today . My backyard about 2,500 sq feet. Hopefully I could get some similar results as you and I’ll be very happy lol.
@@i_try_diy Exactly! So, are you interested in trying out our controller? We can offer you a free sample. Compared to other brands on the market, we’ve added many unique features that will make your watering experience more enjoyable.
Thanks for the comment! I believe I had it on 5 for the fertilizer, and 4 when spreading seed. I didn't necessarily spread the seed in multiple directions, just tried to make sure it was spread evenly!
Thank you! The biggest reasons were that it germinates and establishes quickly, it's more drought-tolerant (I live in a desert), and typically more fungus resistant. I don't need the perfect or premium lawn, just something that's functional and low maintenance!
Great result. I did a similar process in my backyard. Unfortunately mine doesn't look as thick as yours. I feel the grass is very thin and lots of weed. I used the same thing for fertilizer pre emergent (scott's). Any recommendations on how to get the germinated grass a bit stronger? Thanks
How long ago did you seed? Was it this season or last? Mine definitely thickened up even more the following year. But I'd also recommend overseeding at about half the rate you initially seeded. That can work wonders for getting it thicker! Some selective herbicide like a 24D can also really help with weed control
Good Job, Lots of work there, but You need to disclose where you live, elevation and such because no two areas are the same. Doing this in Montana is gonna be different than South Texas
Here's one that looks very similar to the one I have. I have not tried it, but same price point and good reviews. Might be worth a shot! amzn.to/4d62Ax8
For sure, no question it's a lot of work! Worth the payoff though in my opinion, couldn't be happier with our back lawn, and no more battling the old grass. Thanks for watching!
@ i_try_diy Nice job. What seed rate did you go at per 1000 sq ft? I think I’m going to go around 7 pounds per 1000. I’m going to be doing the same here hopefully come September. What temps was it at when you put down seed?
Thank you for the comment! I did about 8 lb per 1000 and it came in very nice and thick. I seeded early September, so highs around 75-80 and lows around 50-60 probably? That's here in Utah. Where are you located?

Good luck! Not sure where you are but just keep an eye on temps, as long as it's not too scorching hot you should be good to go.

This worked for me!! Thanks a Ton! Saved lot of money!! In the illinois area I tried this with Kentucky bluegrass

Nice transformation!
Thank you for the comment! Appreciate the kind words
Awesome video !! Great results.

@@i_try_diy do you have a irrigation system or you hand watering ?
I have an irrigation system, but also hand watered areas that get more sunlight or dry out quicker etc. as needed

Hello, are you interested in testing a smart irrigation controller? It will make watering your lawn much easier🙂
I have one and I agree it is very convenient!

@Kathy0118 sure! What's the brand?
Super helpful.
Glad to hear it!
Great renovation!! What is your spreader setting? Did you seed the same spot in multiple directions?

@@i_try_diy thanks. I just completed my lawn renovation as well. I went a little heavier on the seed, and hoping to get an amazing result as yours.
Awesome, good luck!! I know it's a lot of work I hope it turns out great for you
Lovely lawn
Appreciate it!
What is your square ft of your back yard?
Also how many bails did u use of peat moss
And which size package (cubic feet )of peat moss bail did u use?
It's right around 3000 sq feet. I used 5-6 bails of peat moss (3 cubic feet each). Hope that helps!
Looks good! What made you pick tttf over ryegrass or bluegrass?

Wish I could’ve done this but I live in Texas and it’s still 110 over here
Now's a good time to get started I don't think you're too late based on where you live! But if not there's always next year :)
nice job!

Awesome wow no aerating or should i thanks
Aerating definitely won't hurt! But scarifying accomplishes much the same thing, so certainly not necessary. Good luck!
thanks much appreciated

Thanks for the comment and the feedback, very true that it can differ greatly. I'm here in the Salt Lake City area.👍
Nice how much peat moss and top soil did u need?
Thanks! I spread two cubic yards of soil, and used about 5 bails of peat moss (3 cubic feet each)
The detachers are not in stock, it’s been out of stock for a while, wonder when the will be back.
Here's one that looks very similar to the one I have. I have not tried it, but same price point and good reviews. Might be worth a shot! amzn.to/4d62Ax8
How long after last dose of glyphosate did you seed?
It was about 12 days. I'd wait at least 8-10 before seeding!
