    Schichtfleisch is really super delicious. Serving with potato dumplings and some vegetables like savoy is my favourite. But your choice to pull it and filling bread is definitiv a great idea! Thumbs up!

    Awesome! This will be on the menu for our summer camping trip. Twelve sunburned, hungry dudes who have been fishing and hiking all day will love this! I really like how the onions melted in with the fat and meat juices to create that lovely sauce. Great recipe Chef, thanks!

    THAT IS ... possibly the most German style Dutch oven recipe ever... and you did it in master class style! Great and thumbs up of course!
    Well ... talking in private... , we will have to discuss how to organize a setup of at least a dozen of batallions of Schichtfleisch artillery setup when we start to realize the new order. The best thing will be to have a shitload of that in the backhand, I suppose.

    Schichtfleisch - leckerrrr! Often use my 12 inch for the meat and the 10inch to bake a fresh bread with it. Super combination! Putting it inside the bread with some cheese looks great! Little tip for the stacking, you can put something under one of the three legs to tilt the dutch oven.

    This is a very simple but mountwatering dish!!! I made a simular dish with beef a few weeks ago.. takes a bit more time to cook, about 6 hrs! With charcoal did you use? I used the weber 3hrs longstay... but they lasted less then 2 hrs!! So i had 3 sessions of charcoal... that sucks! Nevertheless, good idea to stick it in.... a bread 😉🤘🏻

    Man, this is a tasty and easy way to feed an entire party!
    For a variation try this with thick slices of turkey leg instead of pork with just salt, white pepper, some crushed garlic and shredded carrots for the rub, replace half the onions with (peeled) apple slices and top with a chicken broth - mustard - cider vinegar instead of the bbq sauce. When done, add a cup of cream cheese and a handful of chives before shredding. Also goes really well with Spätzle.

    Roel this looks super. Where did all that juice come from ? Did you added anything in between ? And, looks you needed just a handful of brickets or did you add any during the cook ? Hey, how was the trip in Slovenia ? No voice since then :) Cheers !

      Thanks Marko! Nope didn't add anything it is all molten fat and juices from the meat.
      About 12 briquettes will do the job. The trip to Slovenia was awesome! Thanks for watching bro!

    Made this today. Was very tasty! One thing though, my Dutch Oven has like a half a cm thick layer of burned on the bottom, it's going to be a pain to clean this :( How do I prevent this? I even put the bacon on the bottom like you said...

    Try to make it today but screwed up i guess because i burned completely. I put it in my BGE on some cocos coals as well and as well few on top, but went way to hot.. I put the DO direct on the coals but that is maybe better not to do right? Do you have any temp i need to keep it? Any more info would be great!

    the only thing i would of done different is put the cheese first to create a layer to keep the bread from soaking through the bottom, then put more cheese on top

      Hi Jules, je kan hem gewoon op het fornuis maken in een stoofpan. Set de brander op laag, sudder tot snotje gaar.

    Bra. It’s like a big ass manapua but with BBQ sauce. In Hawaii we do this with the filling being Char siu, Teri beef, curry chicken, etc. 🤙
