Rules are meant to be broken, but first you need to know the rules to break them correctly.
Great video as always, JST videos have significantly helped with my mixing :)

I know this isn’t fully within the subject of the video, but I was thinking how cool it would be to see a video on making a modern sounding mix on only old hardware, or emulations of old hardware. Modern mixing tools have allowed for infinitely precise control over frequencies and dynamics, and importantly, allow us to visualize it all. This has trained our ears to listen for certain things in a mix and be more critical of small details. I wonder how much of that ear training could help get someone a mix that sounds just as good, but only using old hardware/emulations? If a modern mixer went back in time and only had their ears as a tool, would their modern critical ear be an asset? Or would their lack of sight be a disadvantage?

I always check the mix on every system possible. But actually guilty of every other mistake you said.

Now I’m overthinking if I overcompressed my mix for the Toneforge Riff Contest submission 😭 I was already ear fatiguing and I felt my mix was too quiet
I’m really looking forward to this series (I would watch a 30 min video on this btw)
