@o o Most of all, you must be interested in music to do interesting reactions. I guess you're thinking of reality tv, but that's a whole different story. They have a big production team and a lot of money to dramatize it. How do people know you're not fake, just another bitter troll?

Musicians though are in a particular spot of being able to sell art to the masses with a special freedom of expression. There may be the look of artistic character, of noble intention, but often it's easier for a group to create some false profundity, fake depth if you will. Selling out in their eyes seems to be compromising one's morals for something fleeting like money.

(7:31) The transitions in The Spirit of Radio are simulating the changing of radio stations on an analog radio dial. The transition marked at this junction is rather cleverly done. If you turned the tuning dial quickly, then many radio stations would broadcast like a blur to your ears.

      One of my Faves..
The dancer slows her frantic pace
      In pain and desperation
Her aching limbs and downcast face
      Aglow with perspiration
Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire
      With just the briefest pause
      The flooding through her memory
      The echoes of old applause
      She limps across the floor
      And closes her bedroom door
The writer stares with glassy eyes
      Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage
Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
      With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled
      By sickness and indecision
And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more
      ~ The Wolf.

The last (and most important verse was left out) ....
Some are born to move the world
      To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we’d like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
      The bell tolls for thee....

Keep up the great work. Your reactions are honest gold.
One idea about this song is that the transitions can represent the changing of a radio dial to hear different styles.
Rush fans knew you were gonna dig that reggae part.
I truly wish you could have experienced seeing them live. You are a perfect Rush fan with the air drums, air guitars, head banging, and smiles.
I hope you work your way up to 2112 and Xanadu by them.
Peace. Great work and best to you.

1st, RUSH is Canadian, & we could not be more proud of how they represented us, 2nd, they were brilliant musicians & all could play more than 3 instruments, & only needed 3 of them to sound like a band of 5, and lastly, once you hear them, you are never the same, & now, you are one of us !!! LOL 😊 Oh ya, one of the reasons there were so many transitions in this particular song, is because RUSH, wanted to give the listeners the feeling of changing the channel on the radio!!!

love your reactions-neil peart was probably one of the top 5 drummers of all time-he just passed away-rush was also in the top 4 of 3 man bands of all time-cream in 1968,the james gang in 1970,rush and then the police in the early 80's.it brings joy to my heart to see younger people discovering them now-i was 23 in 1978 for this.but earth wind and fire and some other motown groups were also getting huge radio airplay -just loved it all-musical tastes and choices were endless

Hey Scribe, if you haven't heard Drummer/Lyricist Neil Peart passed away on Tuesday (announced yesterday). I think a lot of people would appreciate a reaction video if you can! His drum solo from the live performance in Frankfurt, or even just a live performance like Tom Sawyer in Cleveland 2011 are pretty great quality videos. This is a great reaction btw I've seen this a few times and am glad you pick up on the heartfelt lyrics Neil wrote. His lyrics and novels had a profound impact on many Canadians like myself, as I'm sure it did with his fans around the world.

This a song slamming the radio business
Rush was so technically perfect in their sound they didn’t really seem like they were really playing the instruments....until I saw them live and they sounded just as clear
    ROCK GREATNESS
