Woah buddy DO NOT use power tools on anything involving gas. Even if you think its empty it doesnt take many fumes to burn yourself up and your car. Good video on locating the fuel pump. Just PLEASE do not use power tools or even have your battery connected with a interior full of fumes.
Good point on the safety aspect. So many people are so eager to start and complete projects that they don't consider obvious safety issues that can be deadly or cause injury that would make you wish that you were dead. We won't even consider the material damage to the vehicle or where it may be parked. Thanks for sharing that safety reminder.
Thanks for the quick video. I got the info that I needed. Other than the safety issue concerning the use of that electric drill/ impact wrench that could cause a spark and ignition of gasoline fumes, the video was alright.
Thanx, I ran my car out of gas a couple of months back while stopping it on our steep driveway, and coincidentally it was totally empty anyway, and ever since I've had problems starting, probably due to the pump sucking up any crap from the bottom of the tank. Also the engine light came on and been on ever since, i did buy a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, and it did help heaps with the starting since I put it in, but the engine light is still on.. I reckon i need to change the fuel pump like you did, its probably clogged up.. Thanx again.
@@EX7RUD1CON Yes.. I replaced the battery. That was triggering the check engine light, amongst causing other problems.. So next time you guys have a check engine light come on, don't forget to check your battery.. It might be dead like mine was lol..
My fuel pump is whining and the car sputters at high rpms. Randomly shuts off at idle and all kinds of things. Looked it up and pretty sure it's the fuel pump just not being able to keep up with the demands of the car due to a bad fuel pump. What do you think!?
This might be a stupid question but I can pump out all the old gas in the tank by through the hole once I remove the fuel pump, correct? My car has been sitting for a while and I want to take out all the old gas. Didnt know it was this ez to access the fuel tank.
A fuel pump, pumps the fuel to the motor. I bought mine off of ebay and I just looked for a middle price range between high and low and something with a brand name.
hi mr vdiddy95 U make it look so easy to change the fuel pump. I'm a female with an 08 350Z... i dont even no if its my fuel pump... it cuts off when i slow down as if its not gettin enough gas... is that the fuel pump?
usually when its the fuel pump the car wont turn on Step 1: check your batter and see if its good Step 2: check your alternator if both of those things are good its most likely the fuel pump
On the driver side is the Sending unit. Remove it and clean it with cutips if your fuel gauge needle isn't working correctly. Nice video man. I should make a video for my g35 because I don't see 1 out there. I'm just now replacing the pump at 144k miles, not because it went out, but because I know it is on it's last leg given my girlfriends pump went out at 151k on her BMW E46.
Yo I opened the fuel pump and closed it my car smeled like gas when I drove it and looked under the car there was fuel dripping what do u think the problem is. Maybe bad seal
+Brandon Hernandez The only reason i changed it is because it was really loud, it didn't have a code. The fuel pump should be behind the passenger seat in an 05 also.
Hey bro i have 04 350z as well an my fuel gage fluctuates with 20 bucks of gas it fluctuates to empty turning on the little light then goes back up to half tank as im driving what do u think is going on?
For non working fuel gauge, you have to look at the sending unit the thing that moves on the fuel pump housing. I think I mention it in the video when I have the fuel pump out.
On the electrical connector push it in a little bit and push on the tab in the center of the plug, on the fuel line there should be two tabs on each side of the fuel line, push it in a little bit and press on those tabs and it just slipped out
HI, I just changed the fuel pump 1 weeks ago. But I still can smell the fuel very seriously after 1 week. Does it because the seal need to replace? and also my airbag lights on after fuel pump changed, do you know how to turn airbag lights off?? thx.
Did this fix the whinning noise? I recently been hearing a loud whinning noise on the left side of the engine bay the forums said it might be the fuel pump.
Jmaydon yes it did. My whining noise was coming from the back around the gas tank though. Your sounds like it might be the power steering pump, might be low on fluid.
vdiddy95 and it worked perfectly ?? Like no noises no nothing ? Cause I bought one off of amazing and it kinda looks different but it says that it fits my car
what u think it can be i change the cramshaft amd i erase the code dint came on so right now i wanted to turn it on and it dint then i gave it gas amd it did drive around for a lil turn off and breake light came on and battery came on when it turn off bro please help

Just one little spark is all it takes
Never use power electric power tools while working on a fuel syestem.
I saw it and I went "damn, you got balls", lol.
Perfect simple and to the point tutorial
Thanks for the quick video. I got the info that I needed. Other than the safety issue concerning the use of that electric drill/ impact wrench that could cause a spark and ignition of gasoline fumes, the video was alright.
Thanks for this video mine turned out to be just the relay. But now I know the fuel pump will be easy fix when it goes out.
What were the symptoms ?
Thank you for posting this video
Thx for the short and good video

Did you ever fix the issue?
So what happened, did you ever fix it?

@@geeked_up Sorry, I just saw your msg now.. But answered
The "return line" which is the line that sits inside the gas tank, is suppose to plug into the bottom part of the fuel pump right.
Did that returning line broke on you ?

Garrett Mathis sounds like it might be the problem.
How do you change the filler Neck from the fuel tank
This might be a stupid question but I can pump out all the old gas in the tank by through the hole once I remove the fuel pump, correct? My car has been sitting for a while and I want to take out all the old gas. Didnt know it was this ez to access the fuel tank.
Yes you can, or you can just do it thru the filler neck if you don’t have to replace the fuel pump.
@@605garage the filler neck doest have a blocker? if not, how long of a hose do you think it is to the tank?
@@Optimum-Price I don’t think it has a blocker. 5 foot hose should be plenty.
Will a bad fuel pump through a code or give you a dash light?
Saved me a fortune ,, 😊
thanks for the video!
Nice job!
Thanks A Lot man.
no problem
Hey can i actually reach in and clean the fuel tank this way?
Thanks Bro
Is there a fuel filter ? In a 350z 05 ?
thank you for your technical sharing, do you know what is the function of fuel pump?
any brand is recommend if I buy from ebay?
thx.
A fuel pump, pumps the fuel to the motor. I bought mine off of ebay and I just looked for a middle price range between high and low and something with a brand name.
Finally figured out why my car whines so much....what fuel pump did you order?
I bought an OE replacement on ebay.
hi mr vdiddy95
U make it look so easy to change the fuel pump. I'm a female with an 08 350Z... i dont even no if its my fuel pump... it cuts off when i slow down as if its not gettin enough gas... is that the fuel pump?
Gail Thompson is your check engine light on? If it is I'd get that checked to get a better idea on what it can be.
vdiddy95 no sir it isn't
Gail Thompson it's really hard to say what it is without really being there and seeing how it's acting, maybe somebody else will chime in.
vdiddy95 ok
i hope they will
usually when its the fuel pump the car wont turn on
Step 1: check your batter and see if its good
Step 2: check your alternator
if both of those things are good its most likely the fuel pump
What brand is that "little guy"? What lph too?
yeah curious as well lol
because i look behind the driver side as well and it appears to be another fuel pump so that threw me off unless i'm mistaking or something?
+Brandon Hernandez There is an access cover for something on the driver side, but i'm not sure on what its for, its not a second fuel pump.
i feel dumb now aha thank you so much i appreciate it bro.
On the driver side is the Sending unit. Remove it and clean it with cutips if your fuel gauge needle isn't working correctly. Nice video man.

+Motordyne G35 good idea lol, thanks for watching
Hey, did you ever make the video for the G35? :D
Yo I opened the fuel pump and closed it my car smeled like gas when I drove it and looked under the car there was fuel dripping what do u think the problem is. Maybe bad seal
Saqib Choudhry you didn't attach the fuel line good or the seal is crooked or position bad.
did you do this because of p0463 code? and did it fix it? also i have a 05 z is the fuel pump located behind the driver seat?
+Brandon Hernandez The only reason i changed it is because it was really loud, it didn't have a code. The fuel pump should be behind the passenger seat in an 05 also.
Hey bro i have 04 350z as well an my fuel gage fluctuates with 20 bucks of gas it fluctuates to empty turning on the little light then goes back up to half tank as im driving what do u think is going on?
it's most likely the sending unit, its the part that moves up and down on the fuel pump housing.
So better to replace the sending unit?
yeah, that's what I'd do.
Are there 2 fuel pumps? what is on the other side behind the driver side?
Nname Withheld I would like to know this too. Guess I can check myself.
Nname Withheld it's just a cubby, like the touring models and such have a little sub there, but base models just have it as a cubby
I thought the fuel pump came all together in a whole assembly
So does this fix a non working fuel gauge, or could that be something different?
For non working fuel gauge, you have to look at the sending unit the thing that moves on the fuel pump housing. I think I mention it in the video when I have the fuel pump out.
did you leave the car on or you had it off & the battery unplug?
zorkilven the car was off and battery disconnected.
how donyou remove the switch? I csnt seem to get it off. thanks
which switch? I don't understand.
The two on top of the fuel pump, I csnt seem to get either of the two off
On the electrical connector push it in a little bit and push on the tab in the center of the plug, on the fuel line there should be two tabs on each side of the fuel line, push it in a little bit and press on those tabs and it just slipped out
+vdiddy95 GOT IT!!! wooo
Thanks man, I'm hoping that by changing the fuel pump my car stops having problems turning on.
+vdiddy95 so the fuel pump didn't seem to work, and I csnt tske off the electrical switch, how did you say you removed that one?
Did you relieve the fuel pressure?
Yama Cheetah no
ever had a problem when one exhaust gets cold and the other is hot?
no man never had a problem like that, sorry.
OH SHIT MAN!!! You severely need to check your rails. Make sure your injectors are not leaking, like a lean condition on one side, that's bad
That is probably a clogged catalytic converter
how did u get it un plugged i cant get mine off
are you talking about the plug or fuel line?
+vdiddy95 not the fuel line the wire
+vdiddy95 the plug
push it forward and while pushing it in, push down on the tab and pull it out.
HI, I just changed the fuel pump 1 weeks ago. But I still can smell the fuel very seriously after 1 week. Does it because the seal need to replace? and also my airbag lights on after fuel pump changed, do you know how to turn airbag lights off?? thx.
most likely the seal on the tank is leaking, that's why it smells like gas. to rest the airbag light you need a code scanner tool.
Did this fix the whinning noise? I recently been hearing a loud whinning noise on the left side of the engine bay the forums said it might be the fuel pump.
Jmaydon yes it did. My whining noise was coming from the back around the gas tank though. Your sounds like it might be the power steering pump, might be low on fluid.
did this take care of the whining?
yes it did, but before you buy a new pump make sure that that's the problem. Get down to the pump and listen to make sure it's coming from there.
i think it might be the timing belt tensioners because it sounds like it's coming from under the car.
vdiddy95 ay bro how much did it cost ?? Like the fuel pump
they bro my 350 sometimes it whont star and does not have the engine light on u think it can be the fuel pump
I see you didn't change the entire fuel pump. What is the actual part you changed and how do I ask for that part from the auto store?
The whole thing is called a fuel pump assembly, ask for just the fuel pump. If you’re not in a hurry and have time just order it on rockauto.com
How much did it cost you ??
I think I bought it for $70 on ebay.
vdiddy95 and it worked perfectly ?? Like no noises no nothing ? Cause I bought one off of amazing and it kinda looks different but it says that it fits my car
Yeah it worked great, super quiet.
Okay bro!! Thank you so much! Is there anyway I can show u the one I bought ??
Sure, but by just looking at it I won't know if it'll work for you. If Amazon shows it works, most likely it will.
they bro my 350 sometimes it whont star and does not have the engine light on u think it can be the fuel pump
that can be anything, but I don't think it's the fuel pump.
