We live in Western Australia and part of our retirement plan was to leisurely circumnavigate Australia. However the crocodiles, sea snakes, deadly sharks and massive distances between supply stops changed our minds. We settled for sailing part time in the Mediterranean for several years. For Aussies, we really enjoyed the calm seas and relatively short sail times from port to port. 😊😊😊
I would like to give Berry a one-time tip because I do not do auto payments of any kind. I have asked him to turn on the tip button on FRUclips but I am sure he has a reason not to. I do appreciate the value his videos add to my dreams. I see a pay pal account in his description, but I had a problem with them and can't/won't use them. If I ever go, I hope I can afford Starlink.
somebody pay for this man's overpriced overhyped internet service. If you got a crew or customers, or a bad ass fan pays for it, then yeah its worth it, for now.
My 7yr old daughter made me laugh, "Are you watching the old seadog?" "I recognise his boat" so there you go your channel is not just for old sea dogs, its also for the young and the young at heart.
What a thrill to see the top of Australia. Thank you for sharing your experiences and views. I remember as a child looking at a globe and wondering what that pointy bit looked like in real life. I hope you have no further bother from your foot injury and that you are diligent about cleaning and dressing it (and have plenty of supplies). It makes my day when you post a new video. Know that many of us are thinking of you whether you post or not.
My sailing season ended six weeks ago when I was hospitalized with a very bad staph infection in my blood - from a dirty cut. Doc says I’m lucky to be alive. Take care of the wound on your foot. Neosporene in every stocking this Christmas here this year.
Old SEa Dog, have watched you on many times have scribened to your channel, really feel for you when not all ok, you are a champion , old man, same as me , wish I was onboard to solve some of your problems and keep you company, but I guess this is not what you want, all the best with smooth seas and good winds, stay safe and all the best,,,,God Bless,,,,,, Peter,,,,,,,,
I single handedly sailed the bushy inlets so many times, allways a surprise what you will find inside ! Barry is only playing his harmonica in these instances! Fair winds and stay out of trouble like the Bayesian!
Fantastic episode as always Barry! Must have been magic indeed getting to Cape York! Must seem a long time ago now as you have almost crossed the entire Indian Ocean. Love Malcolm and Eileen XX
Thank you thank you I very much appreciated your videos, stay safe take care all the best 😊, from one little old lady living in Switzerland 🇨🇭. I am from Denmark grow up living very close to the sea in Denmark
Hi Barry. What a lovely trip that was. No swimming with crocs then. Shame about not being able to snorkel because of the poor weather. But never mind. Pardon the pun, but as WET WET WET said, Go west young man. Stay safe Barry.
Wow Barry I’ve been with you a long time and many miles just wish I had a spot in the boat, milestone after milestone !stay safe safe seas and stay cool 😎
Congratulations. Quite an accomplishment. That’s amazing if it’s fulfilling to you that’s all that is important. Love the videos. Keep it up and safe sailing . Via con Dios .
I like tiny air cooled diesels for boats. No salt water plumbing. Fuel draw goes way down. You can charge batteries forever. Hundreds of pounds get left behind. I also likd a CB radio and skip. An extra 12 volt chest freezer or two is not a bad idea. Carry extra limes.
is that the kind of engine they used to call a "make and break" ...fishermen in my area (North Atlantic) called them that I believe...real old school. Think they used to spin a flywheel to get them started...a single cyclinder?
@@barrybarnes96 no. A sophisticated ball bearing aluminum block grey iron sleeve MB168F on Amazon and eBay. I make a 1 inch sleeve for the 20 MM crankshaft and add a 7 inch pulley for an alternator and a small pulley for a hydraulic drive to a sailboat prop. It's all steer gears and 196 CC is perfect for charging and a small output for aiming and trolling and storm pointing. You mount it on plate aluminum.
Hi Barry Looking at an old episode you had a small problem catching rainwater. I thought it could probably work turning an umbrella upside down with a small hole (on top) and a hose connected......... Okay little bit of work, but the hook wil help also.. cheers greetings from the Netherlands
Hey mate Yorke Peninsular is down here in South Australia, it's flanked by Gulf St Vincent and Spencer Gulf, you know down here in South Oz where no yachties ever come.
I do enjoy your videos & you do get me laughing. We sail a lot on our large yacht. This year, like next month across the pond again Med to Caribbean then Florida for the winter. I'll looking forward to your Indian ocean crossing hopefully trouble free. Oh you need to eat better why no fish or seems not to be?

Aren't you a "somebody"? I'm sure he'd be happy if you would buy that for him. Oh, I bet you meant somebody other than yourself, right.😂
Maybe a millionaire watching with a few extra bucks? I totally agree....

His foot must have healed, he filmed this sometime in spring, and has since made it all the way to Reunion Island (he arrived Sept. 3rd.)
@@lapsedluddite3381 That's GREAT news!! So glad he made it safewly across the Indian Ocen. Was so worried for him.
@@lapsedluddite3381 Wow and thanks!
Looks like you got caught up in the S.E. Trade Winds. They can be fierce if there's a big high down south with a strong ridge up the Eastern Seaboard.
