We're amazed at how upgrading our tiny sailboat head (bathroom) has improved our whole liveaboard experience. Have you ever considered living on a boat? What's your biggest concern about boat life? Share your thoughts below👇 And if you're a fellow sailor or boat builder, we'd love to hear your head refit stories or tips.
Good to see Becka back. You have to turn a house into a home and that applies to boats too. You make it your won and actually raise its value. Both psychologically in your own mind and that of visitors, and financially too. As to drilling those large holes with what my language calls a hole-saw - the reverse rotation creation of a beginning is very smart. Now if you want a clean saw edge on the other side, don;t drill all the way through with the saw. When the guiding drill is all the way through, go to the other side to finish the large diameter hole the same way as the first one. And you'll have clean edges on both sides. As to the knee and the connecting tissue around it, tendons, etc. You may want to do some exercises to strengthen that kind of tissue. After a few years of serious illness, I had to gain strength and lacking the power for fitness, I did positions on a vibration platform. That worked out really well. 3/week and after 5 months my basic fitness was from somewhere under the 5th percentile for my age group to 65th. Check with a few physiotherapists from different "schools", though. There is no "impact" and that reduces wear from exercise, but you have to take care that vibration does not get conduced into your skull or you get a minor concussion from it. Theory defines impossibilities. Also, verify your diet for completeness. As naval nomads you may occasionally cut yourself short in essential nutrients.
A boat is a boat and a house is a house, but a home is where your heart is. Your hearts are truly in Teulu, and she is your home. Great job on the upgrades!
Becca, it’s so good to see you back. And I’m really happy that your knee is doing better. That’s a tough one to recover from. Keep up your exercise exercises makes a world of difference. Oh my gosh You guys did such a major transformation. It looks like a spa in there. You should be very proud of yourselves. You did an outstanding job. So happy. So much brighter and happier. I love it, Becca and Zach. Sending love from Grammy LIZ in California.⛵️🤟🏻😎🐬🇺🇸
Becka, you and zack are the most beautiful, humble, honest, hard working young people out there! Im not your parents but im proud of you all the same. Im sure your parents just gush on you both. As a non family member im saying stay true, strong and honest and you will do anything you want! Im so happy for you guys having a space you you are proud of astetics as well of useful! One space at a time. One day she will be everything you knew she could be! We're rooting for you from afar!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate your support and encouragement. It means a lot to us as we continue to build our space and grow!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to us to have support from amazing people like you. We’re excited to keep working hard and creating spaces we love!
Becka, you cannot imagine the joy in seeing you back on board. But please remember though, the minimum time for the cruciate ligaments recovery involving your type of injury is six weeks. A complete recovery can be a lot longer so take it easy for a bit, please.
Beautiful job...❤⚓⛵ sometimes I like to take a proper blade run it in the corner before I take the tape off to release the paint possibly help out in the future😅
Thank you for the compliment! That technique with the blade is a great tip for achieving clean edges. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future projects!
I'm glad she's back. Those sinks in your bathroom Food pans I'm in the food service industry And that's exactly what that And that's exactly what that is
Hi guys! I'm just at the beginning of the video now. Becca, it is so good to see you back to the boat so soon! I struggle with an equally challenging hip issue. I definitely have muscles that lost their connection to my brain. And it's been tough to unravel the mess. But honestly, my body and my soul ALWAYS feel better when I'm on and after being on a good sail. NIce and long with some time at anchor is The Best! I have realized that standing on earth is heavy. The water is so much more bouyant and the gravity of my body feels so much less standing on boat. Constantly in movement, always working my stabilization plus the requisite boat yoga / gymnastics that I didn't think I could pull off. We just sailed yesterday, and again, I definitely feel stronger and more lifted for it! Don't forget to support your body and be gentle to yourself because you know you really ARE bloody doing it! :x And thank you for it!!
It sounds like you're really finding your groove on the water! It's amazing how sailing can connect our bodies and minds. Keep embracing that buoyancy! Thanks for the lovely comment Stephanie 😊
Number one tip for hanging anything with two holes like a mirror, get some masking tape and stretch it across the holes of the mirror,, mark the holes on the masking tape. Peel off the tape and place on wall level, then push pencil through the marked holes to mark the wall. Bingo, no more measuring or guessing.
Loved to see Becka absolutely beaming with happiness to be back on Teulu!! 💗And wow, what a transformation! Your head went from a functional space to one that provides you relaxation, comfort and a sense of pride and accomplishment. That you have come so far to finally feel as though you can focus on those homey touches is testament to all of your hard work and sacrifice. I feel so honored to be able to follow your journey. You both should be so proud of what you've been able to achieve together and I look forward to seeing the awesomeness of what's to come. Great job, guys 😊
So nice to see Becka back! Just a marvelous update on the Head, it really looks wonderful, everything just seems to fit perfectly. Congratulation's and keep on trucking, you both are just perfect together.
Tile is wonderful and user friendly. No one understands how it feels when you complete something that looks great and feelings that go into completion. Good video
Welcome back Becca,we all missed you terribly. Take it easy and don't overdo it. I am sure your doctor told you this will take time and therapy to fully recover from such a serious injury.
We always put our loo roll holder inside a cupboard. Saves having to remove and dry when using the shower or cleaning a wet mushy mess when you forget to remove 😢 Good to see the Teulu crew back as one.
Hi guys, it’s awesome to have Becca back and watching the awesome remodeling you are doing. I feel Becca should have praised Zach for all the work he has done while she was gone in the beginning of the episode.
Becca, it’s so nice to see you back and on your feet again. Beautiful job on the renovation of the head. Just a thought on the toilet paper roll, even though you’ve already hung it if you put it inside a cabinet it’s both out of sight and stays dry while you shower. Fair winds.
Almost sinking the boat whilst fixing the sinks is darkly poetic! If you use the same space to shower then you can't have toilet roll holders unless you want a soggy mess. I was worried that the tap restrict the cupboard from opening. I'm Glad Becka is feeling better, I empathise with Zach weeks feels like years when your apart.
Homes are the same. Wife wants to decorate and hates being told that fixing the grading outside MUST be done immediately. That said, you've made a lovely job of it. I admit being relieved to see the tile you installed was sheet goods as that would be the very devil to put actual ceramic tile, especially for a first timer.
I am so pleased for you both. You have given her (Teulu) the mechanical care she has needed - and now you get to lavish some extra love on her in the form of “frivolous” upgrades. Great choice! The quiet moment of satisfaction and happiness whenever you walk into the head will make a material difference in your daily life.
Very simple upgrades improved the head 100%. The tile and white paint brightened it up immensely and will likely be so much easier to clean. I went from Navajo "dirty" white to pure eggshell white in my bath n bedroom. Really lifted my spirits n improved my mood.
Welcome back Becka! Even though Zack did a great job during your absence, it's really wonderful to see that radiant, love-the-world smile again! Take care of yourself and don't overwork your knee. Oh, and the head is beautiful!
Welcome home Becka. I actually got a little emotional when I saw you this morning. After following you all this time I really care about you guys. Zach is a lot more chipper. We won't go into what that's all about. 😊 Teulu is your home now. You have the place where you were raised, and you have deep attachment to those places, but this is your home. I hope you have time to film things to share from the Boat Show, it should be heaps of fun, and very tiring. Stay safe. Love you. ❤🙏

Welcome home Bekka! The heads look FANTASTIC! Yes, it is a boat that needs to get you to where you are going safely but it is also your home so don't ever feel guilty about making it the exact place that you want to live in! I LOVE what you have done with the place! :) Fair winds, following seas and all the best from California!🧡
Beckas back WOOHOO - what a treat for you to give this space a home makeover. Those acrylic tiles are certainly making a difference to many yachts. Looks amazing, well deserved. Great to see the team back together. 🎉
Hi Becca, I'm sure Zack is happy to see you back. I hope your knee will be just fine. I wonder if you saw the video that Parker and Katie have broken up. Ok you two have done a great job refurbishing the bathroom. It looks fantastic. Ok have fun and be care. Ciao. geo
Welcome back Becka! Really good to see you two back together! I think the boat first/ home second isn't the best way of thinking after all the boat isn't the only thing that wears over time, and needs maintenance... You have to keep your mental health and wellbeing as good as the rigging or engine. As the interior is somewhere you'll spend most of your time, and the boat is a small space, it has to be an aesthetic pleasing space more homely or it becomes wearing, and effects you over time.
Welcome back to 'boat life' Becka. Practical point, I'm sure you'll have worked out..... when you install your overhead shower, what happens to the toilet roll?!?! Yep.... a soggy mess!! Im now 8 years into boat life and still finding out these little anomalies!! 🤦♂️
Just what I was thinking re.Shower & toilet roll? As always great job with your ‘Heads’. Sure it will be a great place for thinking about how to go about your next job. Well done both.
Glad to have you back Dear Becka. Zach needs your encouragement and able assistance. Welcome back to your domicile. Glad you are on the mend. God bless! John K
It's great to see you both together again. Becka, I'm glad your knee is healing. Zack, I am concerned about the tail pipe connection out of the sink. If the sink and tail pipe are normal it should all be connected to the sink without using the bottom gasket and nut to secure the sink to the counter top. Should the gasket at the interior part of the bowl fail it will leak on to or into the countertop. The bottom foam or rubber gasket should be in contact with the bowl. The only connection to the counter top would be with the use of your caulking. Just my thoughts as an architect, but I have not installed that kind of sink above the countertop myself.
Love you kids! So happy to see Becka back home. I know Zach must be stoked to have his partner back. The fight against perfectionism is REAL! You do great work. Be well. ❤
you are very emotinal in this vid, and it was good too see, youve missed your man and you missed your home, onwards and upwards as someone older than me always used to say lol, one life live it , good and bad , much love to you both xx
You’re both so cute and communicate so effectively. I get a little frustrated sometimes but wow I’d sure miss you if I didn’t get to peak in on your lives once a week. KEEP DOING WHAT EVER IT IS THAT WORKS FOR YOU. 👍 WONDERFUL VIDEO.
Welcome back Becca I hope your knee isn’t too painful. I can empathise, I dislocated my knee playing rugby and made a right mess of it. Ruptured PCL,ACL and medial ligaments. I’ve got a very impressive scar 🤣. Enough about me, it’s good to see the two of you making improvements to Teulu. I look forward to seeing you embark on your next adventures. Safe travels.
Good to see you back on board, Becka, and you knee getting better, the team back to full strength. Great work, thank you. Spectacular result in the heads.
Wow! What a fantastic job, I love the tiles, which when they were first mentioned I thought were ordinary bathroom tiles. I'm glad to note that you're not adding too much weight to the boat!
Welcome Back Becka What a great job you both did on both heads. We all sure did miss you while in the UK. Also like the new bits y’all added in the heads. Fantastic job. Now heal up the knee cause I know you want to go hiking so back. ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the warm welcome back! We're excited to be creating again and appreciate your support. Becka is definitely looking forward to getting back out on the trails!
Welcome back Becka. Zac please, please buy 1 of these for your drill. (I couldn't attach the picture for some reason, but it was a drill bit extension) "I'm a carpenter, not an engineer, just a carpenter, BUT watching you unscrew or screw something in ... swapping between drill and hand screwdriver is so, so, so frustrating.....for the love of prosterity please buy an extension for your drill...there, I've said it. PS. We love you guys. When you get to Australia, look us up. (Wayne)
Good to have Becka back. Hope the knee will heal completely. Zack has done a lot in those six weeks. But then.....the final (?) touch together. Brilliant. One question though: There is a picture of a great white shark above the loo. Is it your way of thinking that a great white can be scared away from the boat by dumping your own "brown bears"? Just kidding.
Tip. There are plastic liners you can get for metal roller pans. They are really cheap. Just put it in the pan and roll as normal. When done discard the liner. You can reuse the metal pan indefinitely that way. When removing painter's tape if you are having problems run a razor or razor knife along the joint to score the new paint. It should pull off very cleanly
You guys are so flipping adorable!!! It is nice to see you back together and you on the mend Becka. Much love to the both of you. And the head look awesome!!!
Well, I must second Zach, Welcome back. I just realized I been smiling and laughing throughout the whole episode. After barely having time to get used to the steady, factual, laid back manner of Zach (great BTW), Becky is Back! A very different, but familiar and agreeable, nice sight with a relentless stream of words. (Don't hold back please, it's fine, it's you.) @18:44 "... , and I'm going to bed...". You just let it pass, but that was the perfect decision in a happy, imperfect world. Don't strive for perfection, good or very good is fine. Realize that perfection doesn't exist. If you think you've achieved perfection, you just haven't looked hard enough.👴🤗
Congrats on re-doing the head! A massive improvement aesthetically and functionally. Also, you had the good sense not to replace the LAVAC (If my eyes did not deceive me). Looking forward to what is next on your list!
Beautiful refit and love watching you two work and sail away!. You guys are a model for a 'power couple' I really enjoy your Monday videos and, as always, wish you both all the best. 🎉❤

Wow! What a fantastic job, I love the tiles, which when they were first mentioned I thought were ordinary bathroom tiles. I'm glad to note that you're not adding too much weight to the boat!
That toilet roll holder is in a crappy spot 😂 get it!
Great job guys. We've just finished our first year and your journey so far has been an inspiration.
Welcome back Becka. The head remodel is very nice. Everything is freshened up
It's good to see you back
Excellent work, looks so much better than before 🤩 Happy to se Becka back on her feet 🦶
Thank you so much for your kind words! It means a lot to see Becka's progress and the support from everyone!
Beautiful transformation! Love the tile!
Such a British reunion. You two make me laugh!
Always nice to have some sanity aesthetics to reflect your sense of being organized and sea worthy :)
Welcome back Becka. Zac please, please buy 1 of these for your drill. (I couldn't attach the picture for some reason, but it was a drill bit extension)
"I'm a carpenter, not an engineer, just a carpenter, BUT watching you unscrew or screw something in ... swapping between drill and hand screwdriver is so, so, so frustrating.....for the love of prosterity please buy an extension for your drill...there, I've said it.
Welcome back Becka. Very nice heads upgrade. Cheers!
So glad you got the ceramic sink that ting ting it made when Zach tapped it 🤤
So happy your on the mend, Becka. It is good to have you back and I'm sure Zack is happy you are. Love you both!!!
Welcome home!
Good job in the head nice sink.. good to see you back on the Boat Becca take it easy.
(Don't hold back please, it's fine, it's you.)
@18:44 "... , and I'm going to bed...". You just let it pass, but that was the perfect decision in a happy, imperfect world.
Don't strive for perfection, good or very good is fine.
Realize that perfection doesn't exist. If you think you've achieved perfection, you just haven't looked hard enough.👴🤗
You did it!!! You inspire me and my Cal 29 here in Western Canada!!
Congrats on re-doing the head! A massive improvement aesthetically and functionally. Also, you had the good sense not to replace the LAVAC (If my eyes did not deceive me). Looking forward to what is next on your list!
Good to see you back on the boat Becca. A great improvement in the heads.
Wow guys the heads look amazing, great job and glad to see you back Becka 👍⛵️
Cheers Stuart!!
Beautiful refit and love watching you two work and sail away!. You guys are a model for a 'power couple'
I really enjoy your Monday videos and, as always, wish you both all the best. 🎉❤
Hi you can always install your loo roll holder inside a cupoard door .It keeps it safe and out of sight .
Welcome back Becka!
Well done project. I see you have Poo-Puree in the basket. Great idea on a boat!
Great job! Looks amazing and having a nice space is very important for mental health. Much as we love Zach it's SOO nice to have Becca back!
Welcome back! glad you are really feeling better. It's so difficult when you are not healthy
