  • @gigatigga

    i bought the first one and was pretty happy with it, so day one i was in line (well no line, i just showed up when they opened) to pick this up. I wasn't expecting a huge radical change but i was excited about the updated graphics and multiplayer. I was quite irritated to find that multiplayer wasn't enabled yet, and you're right the FPS is annoying. BUT there just aren't that many racing games on the switch and so that being my favorite genre of game, i have to take what i can get. Hopefully the company will see that almost all the reviews complain about the frame rate and will decide to cut out some of the visuals to give it a little bump in frame rate. i don't think it needs much to get back to where the first one was, and it really does look quite a bit better than the first title. Overall, for 50 dollars, i've spent more and been more disappointed. Load times don't bother me, and restarts of races don't have any additional load time which is nice. I would still recommend for a person who is a big fan of racing games to pick this up. I do wonder if the digital version load times would be faster than the physical (i have physical). Last years gear club was physical exclusive to game stop and i almost wonder if they made a deal with game stop this year round to give a bit of a price drop on the physical version to get people in their stores. Just a theory, but with game stop in trouble these days because of lack of foot traffic i wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason for the physical / digital price difference.

    • @ErinTheFennec
      @ErinTheFennec 5 лет назад +1

      Probably not much of a matter of graphics, better looking games can run smoothly on the Switch, it's more likely that they are still getting used to optimising games for the platform, it'll probably get improved with a future patch presuming their ability to optimise games on the platform improves.
      On the point of load times, you'd definitely get improved load times on the internal storage, almost definitely improved on the SD card (Not as good as internal though) and the worst on the physical copy.

    • @redcrimson1028
      @redcrimson1028 5 лет назад

      The switch is powerful enough to run this game @ 60fps with amazing visualize they don't need to cut back on lighting and graphics to achieve that. This is a cell phone game that's why it runs and looks like crap nothing more nothing less so don't blame the switch's hardware.

    Slightly Mad Studios announced a Project Cars Port for the Wii U back when it was in development but had to cancel due to the Wii U not being powerful enough to run it. The Switch is the successor to the Wii U and I believe is fairly identical architecture wise to it(Some Switch games were developed/tested on Wii U Hardware). If anything the Switch should have had the extra "Horsepower" to be able to run at a stable frame rate. I'm Not Sure why they never bothered attempting to bring it over to the Switch. Oh well, I can only dream.

    They really should have taken more time. They clearly have the fundamental skills to do more. But they really wanted this out and selling fast, clearly. If they are going to be targeting Switch exclusively, they need to up their game. Switch is a dedicated gaming console, that brings certain expectations. They would have been far better off taking a year to optimize and tweak the physics and all that jazz rather than rushing out a sequel that feels closer to an enhanced expanded rereleased in so many regards.

    Lol a price discrepancy between physical and digital? We're used to that in the UK where most eshop games carry a £10-15 premium over the physical versions. I mean smash is £60 on the eshop whereas I saw it on Amazon before for about £45! Most physical switch games go for between £40-50 where their corresponding digital copy would go for £50-60. It should be the other way round cost wise, but it's one of the main reasons I still buy most of my console games physical (only really buy digital on pc due to steam sales etc)

    It is the only simulation type racer that features 4-Player splitscreen support, on any console, in current times.
    Or, is there another, either currently available, or coming up? Incoming titles on the Switch include V Rally 4 and GRID: Auto Sports.
    It seem recommendable, if one plans to make use of that feature.
    But, the pricing is a bit too high still.

    I won it in a DigitalTrends video and figured I'd try it out. It has not improved. Input lag is unbearable. You can literally see how long it takes when you put the pedal down and when you start accelerating (like a whole second). The framerate is terrible. Seems like it is just pausing and catching up pretty often. Loading times are super long. I've only played like 3 races, and loading times for each race take maybe a little less than a minute. I would describe it as a worse version Asphalt on mobile. No loss on my end since I got it for free though

      I thought their giveaway was fake as I sent my email like right away with 4 pics & never got anything back, I definitely don't care anymore though. Clearly the first looks & handles even better than this lmfao what happened I was actually excited. I was excited the file size was smaller aswell but clearly that's only to save costs on cartridges. This game literally looks worse as textures are compressed more to reduce money on game cards. I genuinely can't buy this game. Not because I don't care that they added only a couple more cars. But because the only reason I liked the game originally was for it's simplicity for nice smooth 4 player splitscreen pick up & play action. Clearly I'm incapable of that with this version. Clearly the first has better framerate as I've personally never seen any slowdowns or hiccups but not only that this abundance of new glitchy hovering shadows the new unity engine offers & constant environmental pop-ins genuinely make the first look better overall I really don't know what they are thinking here. The only actual upgrade looks to be snow courses but I mean fuck snow hahaha especially on a rudimentary physics system the same as the first.
