I was not expecting that particular sub to perform that well....
it does not, their amps are a different story.
I've got a sealed pair of comp S 12's at about 800 - 1100w @2Ω , their pretty good but it's really not enough for me personally. What are some good "Durable" pair of subs that won't cost more than $500? The kickers hold up but lord knows they would melt at 1Ω . I see the same commercial brands out there but they inflate everything so its hit or miss, Any suggestions?

I have a vm encore 15’ and its been running for awhile, honestly not a bad subwoofer at all. Sure the ring looks like junk and the plastic cover isn’t the greatest but this subwoofer will definitely surprise you. The 15 is rated for 2000 rms and i was running 1400w to it and that thing will rattle your car and you’ll definitely feel that in your chest. Had mine for 2 years and and the first 5 months i had it i was clipping the hell out of it😂. (Didn’t mean to, didn’t know what i was doing at the time) now that i do i can definitely say this subwoofer is a steal!
Erik Hilderman The sub woofer he was using doesn’t look bad but it could have a better basket and the speaker terminals are weak as fuck. They bend to easy and can break in time

I remember when vm innovations released these. They sent me an email offer saying anything over 6 units would drop the cost to 12$ each. They seem good enough to warrant me kicking my own ass for not jumping on the offer.

Exo did a review of those subs they are what you would pay for them cheap entry level at most but not with buying despite all the cheap plastic parts and over all bad quality subs
with all that plastic I bet they resonate a little but would be perfect for 4th bandpass

Well, it's certainly a pretty woofer, but I dunno about the build quality. Something about the design just doesn't sit well with me.
rhkips exo contralto tested em a while back, some bullshit design, check the the terminals and rip that plastic cover off the bottom and you'll see what i mean, check out he's video. hes very fair when describing it but its just not built to last

Hey Steve big fan of yours just want to give you some input have been into sound Susan since I was eight years old installed my first car stereo system when I was 11 Old Took electronics in high school went to college and became electronics engineer sound speaker systems i'm kind of old-school I really enjoyed watching the Fisher 15 inch flex you did but really when you want to do the test you should have the speaker in The box was designed to be in on this particular video you made a comment that a couple times that you smell the Voice coil you're not running the max rms which makes me think the manufacture did not rate it right anyways keep up the good work like what you doing

For better excursion vids set the cameras shutter speed the same as the refresh, in this case 1/60, that will record the full stroke.
how many "excursion vids" have you done? FYI: i use an iphone. "Full stroke" was recorded just fine, i am not sure what video you just watched. lol
I realize I should have added unless its a slowmo, at 60Hz this would apply.

I have 1 12" vm ecw120 running on an old school kove audio armageddon ag800. it hits hard for me and I'm pretty sure I'm underpowering it big time. but it's also in a 2cf box tuned at 38hz

hey on your test bench I was going to say look into some 12 volt supercaps might keep the voltage more steady when testing
voltage doesn't have a problem. I don't think i need advice on my own test bench but thanks anyway just in case i did. lol

I don't know why u don't have test box's for woofers anyways that way you can always find out where your phasing is and how to set your real box's just a few throw together 1 cubic feet chambers that way when your showing off these off brand subs you can give everyone a true example what they can and will do cause I had 6 15 inch jl w0 8 ohms on a ppi pc2350 and was beating hard running 1.25 to 1.50 per chamber sealed no Polly fill no nothing just real deal equipment but bro your reviews are great they really are and you seem like a really good dude 2 in my world that goes along way who you are and how you treat those around you so mad props on that brother keep up the good work ...
I have the vm audio shaker 10s and they hit lows for no other. Especially for below cheap subs

Rip off that plastic cover and you'll find a tiny motor that can't handle 1000 watts. VM audio cuts every single corner to max out their profits. Can't do much with a shitty product. Was amusing to watch it flex a bit though.

These things are super cheap and probably OK but I would recommend anyone with this kind of a budget to get a Sundown LCS series subwoofer.
this subs look good but the only reason I will never give this company a try, is because their inflated wattage claims. you really don't know what you have . but still thanks for the flex

these are trash. This test wasn't done "free air". Free air implies Infinite Baffle. This is just a sub on the table. Open Air would be a better term Regardless, these subs suck. If you were impressed with yours just imagine how impressed you would be with some that don't suck. :)

I had nothing but issues with those vm subs. I had their 5400.1 amp which was very decent but 2 of the 3 subs that came in had rubbing on the up down motion. Was a bit disappointing and they clipped.

Sorry not sure on the Technical term of it. When they hit you could here almost like something slapping inside perhaps from the "misaligned cone" but it sounded like actual clipping and that was at about 1 ohm after box rise with their 5400.1 amp. There have been quite a bit of people on forums blowing them quite quickly i was informed by them it would perform stable at 1ohm perhaps at a higher ohm load it would be fine. The amp is a decent power monster.
Perhaps they fixed it but the plastic cone on the back of the magnet makes stupid amounts of plastic vibration noise. At least in the box it did its also possible i got an earlier production and they have fixed it with current models. This was about 1 year ago give or take a little while after they had already showed up.

i would like to but each sub likes a slightly (or very different) box. The reason i do this is so everyone can see the mechanics of the sub as it reaches it's limit's. The bass isn't deep because it is being cancelled out but you can at least see all the guts of it moving :) To me, it never get's old :D

sweet deal lol. that's what I was thinking when I bought it. I went with the massive audio summo 1st. didn't even break it in yet and decided I wanted the hippo. been running it almost a year. had a hifonics Brutus 2400.1d on it then I bought a skar audio rp2000.1d for it. thing slams nasty. in a single cab pickup truck. although I've been seriously thinking about selling it and getting the skar audio zvx 15 or 18. Either that or the skar txl 15 or 18. uhg... decisions haha. in all reality the hippo is probably better or at least just as good.
I definitely like the skar amp. rated at 400 watts less than my old hifonics amp, yet... it slams that hippo wayyyy harder than the hifonics. the price was right that's for sure. just sold the hifonics amp and the summo. both were barely used. I got 425 for the amp, sub, enclosure and a set of 6×8 kenwoods. could have asked for more loot but it was for my buddy so I hooked him up. fucker dicked me around on the funds though. all is well he paid up.
