Jet Harris!! The man that got me playing bass guitar when i retired at 65. Thanks Jet RIP❤❤❤❤
Play some Elvis remind me of Elvis I like this guy sings good on Rock on ❣️😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 2024 June I'm listening to the song right now in Beaumont California God bless everybody 💕🤩🥐❤️❤️😘😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
This and "Shakin All Over" were 2 British Rock n Roll songs that could match what was coming out of America.
Cliff Richard & The Shadows, opened the doors to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin... Thank you, Cliff, you are great. From Brazil.
У тебя в голове паутина
in 1960 i was fan at age 13:)
@@user-qs7yo9wb9eand the Who
Not exactly. Zeppelin, Stones and Beatles were influenced by black american music like Chuck Berry, Little Richard , Robert Johnson and white rockers like Elvis and Buddy Holly.
@@Mysterywhiteboy78 Thanks. No doubt, you are right about these influencies, but don't forget that Cliff Richard was a british answer to Elvis. And we can say that he was the principal britain rock singer to call young britains' attention at the end of the fifties. So, in the motivation way, he opened the door to the great and fantastic bands that came after him in that country.
That opening by Hank is something else and the rawness of that growl before Cliff enters.
Hank looked just like Buddy. What a performance this is!
For kids and teenagers living back then rock and roll must have landed in their lives like a musical tornado.
yep was 14 in 59 when cliff was on the palladioum with travelling light
I was 2 years old! I didn't catch up with Cliff until later. The Beatles and Stones got me in the '60s. Along with Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Byrds, etc.
This was considered wild and outrageous at the time there were complaints that cliffs gyrating was too blatantly sexual
If only Cliff had continued with this tough sound, he would have been regarded as the one of the greatest rockers ever. This is hard rock in its earliest possible incarnation and it still kicks ass.
I agree with you're comment 💯💯
Better than the beatles
@@stevenford727 Agree

He was tame aftr. Your mum liked him; Billy Fury on the other hand..........
Every jukebox deserves this record !!
Those were the days:A cool haircut and some really good rocking music.
I'm 21 and doing research on the most popular music genres through the years in Britain for my college course work. Consider my jaw dropped seeing that Cliff Richard was around in the 50s and he looked like this. Sometimes I feel really old. Sometimes I feel like I know nothing, this is a time were the latter is the case. Like wow. Just wow.
How do you beat that! At that time! At that age! I salute you Sir Cliff! And thank you for all the live concerts I saw! And not to forget magnificent support by The Shadows!
The shadows were a big part of Clffs early success. One of the best backing bands ever.
If not the very best as in the "uppermost of the rocker most" 😎
He was just 20 years old here, and still going strong at 82. Bless his heart💗
Just turned 83 still rocking
Heart is everything - please let it give up way before my brains do Mr Jesus.

This was march I think he was still 19.
You took these words right out of my mouth. I was just just going to write it exactly word by word :) He is actually 84
One of the best British/English Rock n' Roll records cut. Nice to see Jet Harris and Tony Mehan as part of the original Shadows.
Who would have thought he and the shades would be going 60 years on,he is still the greatest in my mind I was 15 in 1960 and still remember seeing him then
Keep it up cliff
I was 7 when this came out, I much preferred Cliff and the shadows at that time, a few years later I progressed to heavy rock and metal, but still love watching these old clips of all the old rock and roll bands
Here in Uruguay we had a band influenced by The Shadows in the 60s
Congratulations Cliff! 81 still rockin’!
He looks like a little old granny
No denying it that this is one belter of a tune. Brilliant.
Just look at Sir Cliffs original moves and facial expressions!!! A superior Rocker in the making 👍
Was he imitating Elvis?
Yes Sir Cliff was an Elvis fan and copied the lip twitch but everything else of his performance and lifestyle is his unique own.
I still have this record - the first British RR record except maybe for Tommy Steel . Fond memories of my teens, never missed Oh Boy on a Saturday. Then came the Swinging Sixties in my twenties and still single. Times of my life I won't replace - I'm now 82
The best British Rock n Roll song of the 50s.And is still rockin today.
Bang on point I can still see my old mans 7 single of it green background Colombia records

Already 63 years ago! And now i'm almost 74 years of age! Time flies! He and the shadows were always my idols! What a wonderful time it was!
A few years before my time, but nonetheless cannot imagine this period brought riveting change moving forward.
I'd just turned 9 when this was broadcast - not that I watched it (not sure we even had a TV), but what a great live performance! Turn the volume up & you'll understand how exciting music was in those days - & continued to be for quite a while. Now, however, rock 'n' roll is 70 years old, & contemporary music is, sadly, showing its age.
The Best lineup ever!
Notwithstanding the obvious singing and musical talent, the production is absolutely A1!!! Loose and tight at the same time. A bona fide timeless classic.
The first British rock and roll song. I learned it then and i still play it two nights a week. I wont ever remove this from my song list. Great.
My favourite
When I was only 18
Where can we see you play ?
It's not the first British rock and roll song - Tommy Steele, Marty Wilde, Jim Dale all predate this.
@@huwthomas4173 It's generally accepted that Move It was the first entirely written, produced and performed by British artists. Everything before were copies of American records, Rock with the Cave man by Tommy Steele was in 1956 but was written as a novelty song. Even John Lennon said there was nothing in this country musicwise until Move it.
Yes I Love That Song With Cliff Richard
And The Shadows ❤️
Am 67 now USA, when a teen remember hearing him on long/shortwave radio as I was DX'r then, probably Radio Caroline, totally different times/existence then, just thankful this wasn't lost; this is prime rock as ever, sounds fantastic today as it did then, never ages; and love how the girls scream background as he moved/danced around mid-tune; thanks for this, salute to Cliff and those years.😀
It's October 14, 2020, as I write this: HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY, CLIFF!!
Whao wow. Sir Cliff was rocking always, from the very start.
The original Shadows,what a band
utterly great, cliff was there at the very start and this record is 100% classic rock n roll, arguably england's greatest early rock record
Or even BRITAIN'S.
@@williamwallace5857 you wouldn't be saying this if he'd been Scottish lol
@@quintiniusverginix7827 Wouldn't be saying what ?
@@williamwallace5857 If this had been a Deacon Blue or Simple Minds video, would you still be demanding that people refer to the record as British?
@@quintiniusverginix7827 I certainly wouldn't be, but here is the difference. Many English think England and Britain or English and British are the same thing, such is their arrogance and/or ignorance. So, we Scots have to differentiate in the way that you English don't. Besides, I much prefer Nazareth and the Alex Harvey Band if you're talking about Scottish bands.
John Lennon "The first English record that was anywhere near anywhere was 'Move It' by Cliff Ricard. Before there'd been nothing"

An amazing rock n roll song i remember rushing to the record shop to buy it .. and it still sounds great and fresh now..Great best British r&r song EVER
He is a good man and we all know that he probably does more to help people than he would ever admit to and this is pure class
Cliff is great in as much he gives a fair percentage of his income to charities. While still being a great entertainer. :)
@@eileendoyle4055 Eileen not only a fair percentage of his income he's a permanent donor to Tearfund Int'l. In other words he donates from basket to casket/from womb to tomb, that's how big is heart is. How can we not love this man.
If I was stranded on a desert island with one record...this would be it...BRILLIANT.
Somebody asked me what my favourite song from the Rock N Roll era was. Here it is. Rivals anything to come out of the States.
Performed only 2 weeks before my birth, there's no better way to say welcome to a guy like me. Thank you Cliff & The Shadows for welcome me to the earth this way!
sorry kids of today.....this is musik. A timeless masterpiece for a bygone epoch with rebellion, imagination and fantasy.Nothing can bring back memories better, than a song which he was once connected with.
Right !
This guy is a serious Bad Ass !!! I only knew of him from the mid to late 70's, and he had already been in the game for 20 plus years.. "Suddenly" with Olivia is one of my favorite songs.. I am just finding this out right now.. He stayed looking young for a very long time...
I actually didn't think it was the same man singing at first because I knew him from the 70s as well and he was always more of a soft-spoken pop singer. I found this song from an article about the 100 Best guitar solos. This is fantastic stuff.
What a great introduction to British rock 'N' roll! It was absolutely the best song out at the time, and still great today! It just seemed a cut above other English artists of that time! (In my opinion!) 👍
Still love that Fender twang. Imagine how it was when we’d never heard it before!
Yes still sounds great today
it was 21yrs before my birth...but still I feel .....it was one of best rock & roll I 'v ever listened..
The very best of British Rock 'N' Roll!
Seen Cliff and the Shadows many times in concert. First class act.
I was 14, when this one came out, I always liked the song, but I realize only now, how goood
it really was and still is.
Absolutely an all-time classic of Rock'n'Roll!!!

Brilliant - the giant leap for British rock. I was there. You sneered when the news papers called him Cliff Richards. And Move It written by the overlooked great talent Ian Samwell.

When I was like 5 in the 70's I was really stuck on a couple of his new hits, then 45 yrs later I realize he kicked rockabilly ass before that. Cliff Richard was an extremely talented artist.
I seen Cliff Richards and the Shadows live at the Forum in Montreal back in the 50s , i had won 2 free tickets on a radio contest.. great memories ..

Showing my age, as a conscript serving in 1958/60. Our barrack block, brick built 2 floors , had an empty section. 40 foot long 20 foot wide totally empty except for an old Phillips radio gram. Definitely has the looks , sound and moves of elvis
Agreed; but not the voice.
Indiginous; effective, threatening menace, before the hair was lowered, washed and parted; and before the early-'sixties' stage-face smiled more.
The pre-instrumental, pre-beat, era, before the later spiritual influence, ( like Elvis' own childhood, musical exposure), entered into, mixed, and formed the whole stage and musical persona.
Tom Koziol. Hell Tom. Just look strait at your screen and you will see the young to the right wearing the glasses looks just like Buddy Holly.
