GREAT VIDEO. Very clear & easy. Thanks. Doing both sides. Already doing the driver side c v axle & both sides .. control arms. Adding it in. Really cool video.
During the annual inspection on my 2004 Sienna, the mechanic found the exact same boot torn with a slight leak. But of course because I'm a female, I was told that the entire rack and pinion would need to be replaced at a cost of $1100. I never saw any leak spots on the ground and I never heard any noise coming from the vehicle. How do I know if the entire thing really needs to be replaced or just the boot? I always do research before I let these fools rip me off, that's how I found your video. Thanks
Can you do the struts on the same vehicle please? - Will do my passenger side boot tomorrow - already have the part. Just wasnt sure best way to separate tie rod. Same as I have done before on my Tundra when I replaced the rusted out steering rack. 250,000 miles runs like a clock The 4.7 and 3.5 are awesome motors
you would know rack and pinion is bad if you are leaking power steering fluid/having to refill power steering fluid. Bad boot allows dust/dirt to damage seal that holds power steering fluids inside rack and pinion.
great vid ---- love the kid noise in the background establishing the need to do things yourself to save money.
I have the same issue on my 2011 Sienna. Looking to replace this soon. Thanks for the video. Family love
@@miab101210 you welcome
Good shit bro, got the same issue in my 2005 sienna. Been leaking too. Gonna do mines soon.
I have this same problem. It's good to know that I can fix it myself for under $100. Thanks for the video
You make it look so easy. Good job, very professional work.
Great video! I have the exact same situation on my 2010 Sienna. Thank you very much!

Reminded me of my young days with the kids arguing in the background 😂😂

No one trying ripped you off your rack was probably worn out a new rack can cost 2000 depending on the car

I have some other video doing struts but I don't have on this car. All struts are very similar you shouldn't have any problem to do it.
Great job bro. It does help me a lot..
Thanks
My 2007 has the exact issue. What kind of grease did you use?
Just regular grease
Thanks for great video
Great video

Thank you for the video
This is exactly what I needed 👍
2004 - 2010 is the correct model year range.
Excellent.
Thanks!
Thank you!!!!
Let me ask something What kind oil do you put in boot ?
No need to put oil or anything. I just put little bit grease to the inner tie rod that all
Well done thanks for uploading
Questions buddy hi if it leak from there replacement it the boot fix the problem ?
It's may not fix because the power steering fluid will destroy the boot again.
Thx man. I appreciate the video.
Great job
The tie rod looked like it should have been replaced as well.
i saw from one comment you got the part from o reilly do you mind dropping the link to which one specifically? thanks
Sorry no link just walk in ask for rack and pinion boots for the year and model they should be able to give you one
@@alltsab thanks for the reply. if anyone else needs part number is 45535-08010. what kind of greese do you use to lub it at 2:22?
@@mingli1241 thanks for the part number. I used little bit ball joint grease to help lube it. You don't have to if you don't have it.
All Tsab finally got the part in. Need to get some greese. Let’s hope it’s easy. My car is very rusted
@@mingli1241 it is not hard just make sure you spray some w40 to help lube the rust ok
Do i have to put grease after
No
My 2008 sienna has same problem. What part # do I go buy can you tell me?
I don't have the part number but I bought it from o'reilly. Just tell them that you need rack n pinion boot for your van they will look for it.

What purpose does the boot has?? Has to be changed?
Basically just keep dirt and water get into the rack that all.
@@alltsab Thanks for schooling me.
So, no necessary change complete rack pinion? The mechanic told me that I need replace . So only the boot?
Unless your rack n pinion is bad otherwise boot is good enough
you would know rack and pinion is bad if you are leaking power steering fluid/having to refill power steering fluid. Bad boot allows dust/dirt to damage seal that holds power steering fluids inside rack and pinion.
What are thoes things for?? *rubber boots*
The 2011 is difrent for the inner tie rod
Hi I am determine to fix my Volvo but I have a question can the power steering fluid leak thru a broke boot at the end of rack and pinion bar?
If a good rack n pinion it shouldn't leak
Unfortunately the boot will fail again soon.....the steering rack is bad and leaking fluid. The rack needs to be replaced.
What’s the boot item number?
I don't know but I got it from O'Reilly auto part.
