Steering Rack Boot Replacement Without Popping Tie Rod Ball Joint

- I show how to replace the boot on the steering rack without having to pop the outer tie rod ends by unscrewing the inner tie rod from the outer tie rod ends. This is the easiest method and does not require a ball joint separator tool. Note that the actual boots may differ between the driver and passenger sides of the car!

For a lot of vehicles you have to get a left bellow and a right bellow, also the nipple is for a breather hose that some cars have . Very detailed video👍
Nice video one thing I would recommend, is take painters tap or a marker and mark the bolt to the tie rod before you remove it so you can get it back on exact. If you don't your alignment will be off more than likely.
I usually clean the area real good the day before and spray paint the area with something bright like red and let it dry real good, once you pull everything off you have a really nice witness mark for the alignment.
Hey, man good work, informative. I really appreciate you 3rd hand holding the camera :D😆
Well detailed, I love it, I'll try and replace mine myself this weekend.
Thanks for sharing.
You got it!
Thanks man...Outstanding! Good Job...
Great video and some awesome tips as well cheers
Take the outer tie rod off instead of removing just the inner tie rod. That way you can count your revolutions when you take it off. Or you can loosen the jam nut then mark the threads and flush it with the bottom of the sharpie mark.
life saver, great tutorial too!
Your inner tie rod is going bad which is why it's so loose
what did you do with that too small cover ? im having same problem, i can get only some of it on the steering rack and rest is just flopping inside :(
I watched this video to see how to get on the driver's side steering boot. Did you ever find a solution?
So did I!!!
@zacstjernqvist3565 and we never did figure out how, lol! I ended up slicing the boot to fit it over and zipping it on tight. Not perfect, but better than the shredded mess I was replacing.
is that works on every car or only american (older) ones!?
I was needing to replace my rack but my outer and inner tie rods are new. I like this method and was wondering if I can detach the inner tie rod itself without detaching the outer tie rod?
most racks come with inners already installed that way the installer doesn't have to mess with the bellows
What year car are you working on, thanks
It worked
So is there a left and right boot difference? Also what car. Will this work on 06 honda
No difference. It should work.
I tried this but the jam nut wasnt coming off it after i seperated the inner from outer tie rodj just kept spinning the inner tie rod..wat gives?
I'm also interested in how you got that boot on
Both your tie rods are shot, they shouldnt wobble to the slightest touch like yours. I hope you're replacing them too.
👍
Does he ever say what kind of car he's even working on?
Some model of Honda. Fwd to 2:50…
The time to install the boots took 70% of the job lol
or paint it.!!!!!1
i call cap
Wtf
