  • While the Virtus GT is all about performance, the Virtus with the 1.0-litre TSI motor promises the best of both worlds. The same variants are also similarly priced to the latest generation of the venerable Honda City with its i-VTEC petrol engine. We pit them head to head to see if downsized turbocharging can take on a larger displacement naturally-aspirated engine.

    So, the Volkswagen Virtus returns a better overall mileage and offers better overall performance. Would you still choose the City over it? Why or why not? Comment below!

    • @draco0001
      @draco0001 Год назад +15

      Based on how they are priced ..4cyclinder vtec is a more sensible buy over 3cyclinder 1.0 virtus any day..no replacement for displacement & if someone really need best performance they should opt for 1.5tsi .

    • @sridh8
      @sridh8 Год назад +17

      City is still the better choice because:
      1. City is super smooth refined drive comfort in city
      2. No jerking or surge for most cases except enthusiasts. Relaxed feel
      3. City speeds better pulling in traffic in normal acceleration with light foot, gives good mileage as well
      4. Slavia 1.0MT when revved hard gives only 6kmpl as per MID (friend's car) vs City still gives 9kmpl when revved hard. In high performance situation, city delivers better mileage
      5. Virtus/Slavia is like choose between performance or mileage, while city is a balance of both
      Finally, the base model city has more features than mid variant Virtus at almost 2L lower price point.

      Yes, because for the slightly better performance there is a huge hit in reliability on the VW; not good for resale OR if you wish to keep the car for a long time.

      I had been test driving both the cars along with salvia, i test drive extensively for last few weeks , i fell in love with virtus looks, both cars are really good, virtus & slavia being a new car are a feature packed cars with 1000 cc turbo charged, Honda city 5th gen also give the a bit less interior cosmetic features in comparison with virtus, I was really confused, but in the end, I decided to go with the comfort and silence the Honda city ivtec 1500 cc engine provides, when we sat in the back seat of Honda city, me and my wife, we just looked at each other and decided this is it, Honda provides best comfort seats in the rear and in the front. Virtus is all nice but some how back seat comfort is incomparable, In the end I bought the stable reliable Honda city 5th gen 1500 cc ivtec engine petrol MT it's legacy like buy and forget 👍🏽. I really loved the looks of virtus though and base line is VW is pitching a Tsi 1000cc to compare 1500cc Honda, I would preferred to compare Honda 1500 cc with VW 1.5 Tsi, actually there VW cost is priced way to high, for me Honda came out to be a preferred option in terms of comfort and pricing and at lats I bought it last week with amazing service and support from Crystal Honda pune, Viman Nagar br, it was a fair deal 👍🏽, i am loving my 5th gen Honda city. Safe drive every one.

    I am new to there car specifics. Can someone explain if the City is more powerful or the Virtus? The power and torque values are higher for City. So that does that mean that a 1.5NA engine is more powerful than a 1T engine?

    • @CarWale
      @CarWale  Год назад +1

      The Honda City's petrol engine develops slightly more power (119bhp for the City and 114bhp for the Virtus 1.0), but the Virtus develops more torque (145Nm for the City and 178Nm for the Virtus 1.0)
      Peak power produced by the City is higher, but only slightly more, this will theoretically mean better acceleration and higher top speed. But you also have to take into account at what engine rpm that peak power and torque is developed.
      As is shown at 09:05, from a standstill, the City is quicker. But when you shift to everyday driving, the better torque and power delivered lower down the rev range means the Virtus accelerates quicker.

    Peak traffic - 8-12 kmpl
    Highway :
