Brian Linehan is the interviewer. I just looked him up because I've never seen him before. What a brilliant man and interviewer. He is so well-prepared and knowledgeable about his subject it's stunning. To think of having to have suffered with the completely inadequate and ill-serving Dick Cavette when we Americans could have had somebody great like Linehan! I just looked at a brilliant clip of Linehan interviewing a very, very, very young and enigmatic Martin Short and Linehan is engaged with Short as if they were just two friends having a sparking conversation yet the potent focus of a professional interview is still there. Here with Nureyev it's almost too intense. There are no breaths. Yet it is an incredible interview. Nureyev's eyes, the way he reacts to the questions in his stilled eyes is almot mesmerizing. I am blown away by Linehan and by this interview. I was a child when Nureyev defected and the excitement over him was like a national fever. I saw him in person with Fonteyn and with the National Ballet of Canada. There was a thrill to his dancing that ruined me for any other male dancers at that era. There was a pulse and elevation and dynamism to his dancing as if he were shot out of a cannon. I loved Nureyev so much.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. Every time I watch Rudolf Nureyev being interviewed I am drawn in, he is so engaging and charismatic just as he was on stage as a dancer. A superstar of our time, sadly gone from us far too soon. RIP dear Rudik.

I’m never seen Nureyev like that!
People say and righting that Nureyev was a man who never apologized and we saw that was not true
Also he was a savage man of great prétentions and arrogance’s .
And just saw a man who fought to dance and he does it until the end of his life.
Thank you for allowing me to see Rudy sweet charming and superstar he was.
I’m wondering if Nureyev was really a human been because I’m find him so exceptional in everything he did.

I think of this little boy in UFA discovering that all he wanted to do in life was DANCE. I love him because I loved ballet and piano when I was still a child. But as Rudolf I'm not a genius nor a star. So I'm happy of living in this Planet in the same era he lived. Thank you God for giving us this gift: Rudolf Nureyev. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Rio de Janeiro - Brasil
