It was a nice interview; I'm glad that they got along so well; it could have been awkward. I saw them in Romeo & Juliet once, and they suited each other very well. She didn't have the extension that modern ballerinas have; but she was a wonderful actress, an attractive woman, and had great warmth/audience connection. The time I saw them, the audience went absolutely wild; it was astonishing, but deserved.
They were a pair that has never been equaled! Their love for each other and for the dance shown so brightly it took your breath away! I saw Giselle 3 times! The most beautiful performance ever!!
In Russia, Rudi danced with several much older ballerinas... Dudinskaya (who was 7 years older than Margot) and Alla Shelest (who was the same age as Fonteyn). Also, London had fairly recently seen a Bolshoi tour starring Galina Ulanova (who was 9 years older than Fonteyn) be partnered by Nikolay Fadeyechev (who was 23 years younger).
Probably the greatest performance of Giselle ever recorded. Their symmetry and synergy is unearthly. Perhaps (although I hate to compare) perhaps other ballerinas did Giselle as beautifully but not as a pair. Just look at the final arabesque with the two together. Just the beauty of the line of the two together…and Margot Fonteyn’s famous arabesque is phenomenal

Dafa [Great Law] is spreading widely
People came for this
Attachment to money blocks the path
Believing not that Gods have come to Earth
The truth is nearby
Fame, gain, and qing [sentiments] are illusory
Missing the chance, heartbroken regret
Affairs in human life are transitory
Naked, you come and go
Gods ask me so you I hail
The boat of salvation is about to set sail

"Beautifully Dancing
Divine beings floating, from the ninth heaven landing
Each and every flower, with dew dripping
Long sashes twirling, as if rainbows rolling
Fine bearing and divine beauty, in the human world roaming
Graceful dancing, singing of songs, wide sleeves waving
Walking as if floating on water or in the clouds gliding
Displaying the ancient and the current, assisting Master’s saving beings
Divinely imparted culture embodied, beautifully dancing

I knew nothing about ballet. After watching Fonteyn and Nureyev dance... I know it all!
Like feathers they danced 💃
GIselle is my favorite ballet. It has very demanding choreography.

❤
Choreography has sure changed
What do you mean by that please ? Genuine question. Thank you.
Thick legs -- strong hips. No bending at the knees to lift. Still . . . a bit Russian. Nice.
Великая Марго Фонтейн! Памятник ей есть и в Стокгольме. Если бы не она, может быть не было бы того Нуреева, которого мы знаем. А он и ее предал.
She look like Audrey Hepburn
Too bad he let them poison him with AZT. That's how he died, in case you didn't know. If he hadn't taken that, he might be alive today.
As for her, she couldn't manage money, and died broke.
Two vastly overrated dancers.
Serriously? If you had only seen them live -- I did a number of times in Romeo & Juliet and Giselle. I wept it was so beyond amazing.
@@matsao1313 their chemistry of dancing together is so so plainly true emotion! What else can i say???!!!
Miss them both!!!!!!!
Overrated ?? I wonder what your idea of a dancer is ?? If you have Never studied what they gave to the dance world please keep your mouth shut !!
