@@alainspiteri502 She had a carrier and a name before her dancing with Nureyev. So when they started dancing together she opened doors for him that wouldn’t have opened vey easily. Every company has their own dancers that they are promoting. Coming from the outside even when you come from Kirov or Bollshoi takes a while. So they both benefitted and also the harmony and affection between them was a great contribution to dance. They remained friends and Nureyev helped her financially when she needed it later in life.

It was a nice interview; I'm glad that they got along so well; it could have been awkward. I saw them in Romeo & Juliet once, and they suited each other very well. She didn't have the extension that modern ballerinas have; but she was a wonderful actress, an attractive woman, and had great warmth/audience connection. I think too there was great intelligence; she speaks very well in this interview, and seems very self-aware/practical/nice. Nureyev also comes across well, not overly impressed with himself, and an artist. Of course, they gave ballet a great lift with their partnership and star appeal! The time I saw them, the audience went absolutely wild; it was astonishing, but deserved.

Perhaps (although I hate to compare) perhaps other ballerinas did Giselle as beautifully but not as a pair. Just look at the final arabesque with the two together. In a way, the age difference really worked in their favor because although they challenged each other professionally, their relationship wasn't complicated by a love affair or competition - they each knew the value of the other's contribution and knew that it worked to the advantage of both.
And Rudolf left a mother and sisters behind in Russia and must have felt that she offered a nurturing influence as a dancer and as a Westerner who had already earned the respect of her peers and the public during her long career.

Rudolf Nureyev was gay, absolutly gay. At the time, in USSR, being gay was a crime, punishable by goulag. It is normal that he tried to pass for a straight man. But it seems to be true that he was in love with Margot despite her gender. In fact he was in love of the genius couple of dancers they formed.

I was so lucky to be working, because of my huge love of ballet, in a minor job, in Covent Garden JUST at the time Nureyev arrived, and was witness to the transformation of everyone, not only Fonteyn, with their partnership. It was unforgettable, exceptional, and thank you for this little documentary which gives a pretty exact feeling from both of them I imagine.
I feel extraordinarily lucky to have had that chance....often silently to watch them from up above, simply and pracefully do their barre exercises together, before a performance, on the stage. Then go out and see the huge, excited queues forming around the theatre. Or watch the rehearsals, or performances , often of Giselle....
She had been a wonderful dancer with Michael Somes, but was somehow completely transformed now, and he was totally magical. Their personalities were so opposite, but both gave so much to the other ! I think personally that Nureyev was at his greatest at that time.
I hope they both found the other when they died, and are happy together! 🙏❤❤❤❤❤❤

All I see, particulary, after this interviews with them, is that they both enjoyed their relations Look at their happy faces! By their own admission, they became "one soul and one body". that astounded an audience, making them to rapture with genuine emotions. This phenomena made this inimitable duet the most admired and beloved in ballet history! Had Margo have this "gymnastic" legs extension, her perfomance in Giselle, I think, wouldn't be so magical! It looked to me, like a unearthly delusion, where dancers "soared" above the stage, with a perfect spiritual and artistic unison. They, probably could've been together in real life, but the noble Dame Margo Fonteyn couldn't leave her paralyzed husband. By the way, he's been shot by his lover's jealous husband and poor Margo had to take of him for rest of his life, living in the farm with him.

... and my dear gay, Jewish friend, Maurice and I were there to watch this magical performance together. Sadly he couldn't see it with his partner because gay men were often beaten in 60's Australia since being gay was illegal. Maurice escaped from a concentration camp, joined the French resistance; it was his greatest dream to watch you dance together, he died a happy person several months later, his lifelong dream come true... and I have finally, (aged 80), found something sublime onto which to attach Maurice and John's name. Thank you 🙏

She hadn't to be faithful to her husband because he was an asshole + a womanizer. She decided to divorce him before he was shot. And it is now well known that she and Nureyev had an affair (Nureyev told it to many friends including Charles Jude). Nureyev was in love of dance and she was dance. She had also experienced affairs with another gay men previously of her marriage.

Good for her, because her husband didn't deserved her. I hope she had the best time of her life with Nureyev (on stage + off stage). I can imagine that they were very close, altough he was gay.

    "The Divine Path Is Nearby
The divine path leading to heaven
Dafa [Great Law] is spreading widely
    People came for this
Attachment to money blocks the path
Believing not that Gods have come to Earth
    The truth is nearby
Fame, gain, and qing [sentiments] are illusory
    Missing the chance, heartbroken regret
Affairs in human life are transitory
    Naked, you come and go
Gods ask me so you I hail
The boat of salvation is about to set sail

    "Beautifully Dancing
Divine beings floating, from the ninth heaven landing
Each and every flower, with dew dripping
Long sashes twirling, as if rainbows rolling
Fine bearing and divine beauty, in the human world roaming
Graceful dancing, singing of songs, wide sleeves waving
Walking as if floating on water or in the clouds gliding
Displaying the ancient and the current, assisting Master’s saving beings
Divinely imparted culture embodied, beautifully dancing
