I think you'll like the tonga vs samoa one as well. You can find it on espns channel.
The match was Tonga v New Zealand in the Rugby League World Cup 2017
You can tell it is rugby league not rugby union by the white V on the NZ team kit (it's the NZ kiwis (Rugby League team) not the NZ All Blacks (rugby union team).

Where I live in Sydney has a huge Tongan population and after Tonga won this game a street party broke out. Cops turned up and blocked traffic and just let the Tongans party. No one can stop a Tongan party.
Same in melbourne
Good to know the cops used common sense, A bunch of happy tongans is good a bunch of angry tongans not so good for the cops..
@aussie bogan thats why i said common sense dickhead.
sounds like aussie bogan thinks he could stand in front of a group of tongans trying to party and tell them no 🤣
Yo I remember that now ahahaha
I am originally from England, I was lucky enough to have had the honour to live in Tonga for 5yrs. NZ indeed have the Haka, in Tonga it is the Sipi tau..... I watched this game, in fact most of the 2017 world cup in a friends bar "Vuna Bar" and with out a doubt it was the best sporting experience of my life. Tonga did indeed win this game, but no surprise to anyone in The Kingdom. Tonga went on to play England in the semi-final and were 20-0 down with 10 minutes to go. Then within the final 5 seconds of the game the Ref decided not to go to the video ref on an Andrew Fifita try, he made an incorrect ruling and England won 20-18 (even the English commentators agreed that it should have been a try). Did Tonga complain .....no they danced in the streets all night proud of what this tiny island nation had achieved. Mate Ma'a Tonga....always in my heart.
wow, thats havin pride in your community, team and culture. gotta take all the wins with all the looses. A beautiful thing. thanks for this right here jeff
💯💯
Dang you write a whole story...
Thank you for distinguishing the difference between New Zealand and Tonga and their different pre-match ritual. Samoa and Fiji have their own too!!!
@@joshuapoulivaati1912 Americans miss out. I wasn’t exposed to rugby until I moved overseas. When I first watched the all blacks the Haka gave me chills. I also love cricket. Love the cultures too.
Breakdown on the Haka
NZ have the Haka - they differ depending on the team, this NZ team is the Kiwis / different to the All Blacks because the Kiwis is NZ's Rugby LEAGUE team and the All Blacks are NZ's Rugby UNION team. All NZ's National Teams do a Haka, slightly varying from one sport to the next.
The Tongan Haka here is called a Sipi Tau - My tongan brothers and sisters keep it 1HUNNID when it comes to their National Teams, esp for Rugby League! The city gets flamed up and it was like Little Tonga in NZ when the Tongan team came to town.
The biggest highlight of the Game were the supporters man, in a stadium that is considered home for NZ - home advantage went to Tonga man, brah, evident in the Sea of Red in the crowd. Such a good buzz man!
EXTRA
The Poly islands and NZ are the only teams to have a War Dance due to our cultural significances, the world knows the dance as the Haka because NZ were the first to incorporate this practice in sport - most prominent in Rugby (Union) via the All Blacks -first noted to have been done in 1905. The Aussies tried to come up with one but its so covered up and a failed act, its like forgotten history.
NZ's War Dance is called the Haka
Tonga's War Dance is called the Sipi Tau
Samoa's War Dance is called the Siva Tau
Fijis War Dance is called the Cibi
Well explained, unlike the other spastics in here assuming people outside of NZ know the difference.
Well explained my brother! Give it to yah! 🇹🇴🔥
Thanks for the breakdown
The Indigenous All Star team also has a War Dance.
@@Cheeseit05 The Man, Kia Ora G.
That's the Kiwis.
Not All Blacks.
Think he was meaning they were wearing black
Kahn Sweetman no he meant All Blacks and it’s not it’s the Kiwis
This was a rugby world cup match. A lot of the players on both sides play in the Aussie National Rugby League. The world cup is a good watch; especially when Tonga came in and became giant killers.
thanks for letting me know, im still learning so i appreciate the help fam! 💯
@@RareSoulTV Difference is this is rugby league, the nz team is called kiwis. while in rugby union, the nz team is called all blacks
Was actually an awesome game, worth watching the highlights. Tonga managed to beat NZ in this game, which was a big upset
Fuck it was good when Tonga beat aus, and I’m an Aussie fan 😂

MMT all day baby 🇹🇴 😎
Yea agree great game, people do say it was an upset but the Tongan team was stacked full of super stars as well so really wasn't that much of an upset, they also beat Australia last which I don't think was that big of an upset either for the same reasons
MMT ALL DAY BABE
That was Martin Taupa'u with the cornrows..he stiffarms people's souls out of their boots.
just letting you know the Tongan haka is actually called the Sipi Tau. Loved your reaction man hahahaha
as a kiwi i loved the tongan's sipi tau. gives me chills seeing both sides. love all my island brothers.
Just a little side note brother, New Zealand Rugby UNION is the All Blacks, New Zealand Rugby LEAGUE is the KIWIs but thanks for the reaction keep it up!👌🏽👌🏽💯🔥❤️
This is Rugby league .. that is the New Zealand Kiwis different from the Allblacks... Tonga beat them in this game first time ever in history..
Tonga played so well, I'm a Kiwi Mum but even I was really happy for them.
Relax dude
@@paulalolohea9967 haha no U relaxxxx.. lol
TalkAboutIt Tonga has more forwards than backs
NZ was basically beat by a team of forwards
@@nano1878 ahhh bullshit.. Tonga had a good balance of players.. Everyone in that team played there position better than the Kiwis..
Rugby League hakas are the best, Tongas haka was amazing, the game was played in New Zealand but the crowd was 80/20 Tongans at least. It was an amazing game as well.
Doc Gonzales Tonga doesn’t do hakas they do the sipi tau, haka is a Maori cultural war dance, Pacific Islanders only copied the maoris by making there own cultural dance to match the haka
@@horiboykobi6377 not true. for a fact i know Tonga did not copy Maori cos their war cry are instilled in their cultural dances eg. kailao, taufakaniua
officially kobi bullshit there both different
@@user-uh7um8jo1i that is correct, we have a war dance using spears called the Kailao the the drums are the only beat you are dancing to, and also the tau fakaniua, which is a later version by somehow, not like the kailao.... kailao is wild fierce and fast... a real war dance!! no slow pace or mucking around LOL

Man, Tonga is a tiny island country, only 160,000 people, but they hold their own in the haka and in the game!
Yes sir. 😏 small Kingdom. Massive attitude. Warrior spirit. 🇹🇴✊🏾 one love brother!!
Yes you have to watch it, I was at that game and even 3 years on I still get goose bumps watching this.
no way i just found ur chanel and i luvvvv ittt love too see you resting to some videos from new zealand !!
Yooooo when you picked Taumololo! U a real one homie, big loves from NZ
The haka is a predominant reaction of challenges or provoking a challenge for all islands in the Polynesian triangle. It is clearly strong between NZ teams, Tonga and Samoa. They are similar in actions and words. While some can argue that it is to intimidate teams, it is the concept of mana. Those two teams are performing the haka to test the mana of a person, the mana of team and mana of the sport. To make it clear that mana is not just power/control in definition but its the way one has authority and prestige.
The respect can actually be seen, when, at the end of the Sipi Tau of the Samoans, there were quite a few All Blacks that were applauded them.
There has been many a Tongan representing New Zealand in the All Black Team's.
5:06 that’s not Shaun Johnson Shaun Johnson plays for New Zealand but credit to u for knowing some league players
appreciate it man im tryin haha
The dreadlock guy is Martin Tapau. Big hitter and hard runner
Jason Taumalolo used to play for the New Zealand team and then swotched back to his Heritage team of Tonga. So he played for both. Lots of emotion because he jumped ship but did it for.family pride. Basically all of Tonga got behind him and the team it was pretty cool but definitely made it more emotional.
Neighbours, brothers, teammates, all representing each other so its pretty cool. Face off is always good.
Cool how you know some players, good vid g
Sean Johnson is a kiwi who played for the warriors, A New Zealand rugby league team 💙
The guy with the cornrows is Martin Tapau recognised as one of the strongest players in the game
Yess you must watch the game to understand the intensity. This was a world cup game which means players returned to represent their nations which shook New Zealand teams. Due to core players like Taumalolo, Taukeiaho, Mau, Hurrell, Tupou, Fusitu'a, and others were to represent NZ and Australia do to citizenship. But represented their original origin of their parents that brought a small nation to the forefront of the world. Where you seen our sea of red bleed through and through. "Loyal to our soil'. Which rang and reminded what's lost is not forgotten!!!
Me: Scrolling through recommended
RUclips: American reacts to New Zealand Hakka
Me: Thank you RUclips, very cool
The game was actually played in New Zealand but obviously have a massive Tongan supporter base.
Tonga do not take any prisoners. They are built like brick walls. To line up against the Haka is a show of strength.
Love my Rugby 💪
The guy at 4:46 is Martin Taupau
This game has a massive storyline. NZ has always picked Tongan players in their team, ( Taumalolo etc ) and in this World Cup, 6 of the best NZ players who are of Tongan decent decided to play for their family heritage (TONGA). This caused a lot of drama between the two teams, hence why it’s so intense. Tonga has a population of 100,000 people compared to NZ (5 million people) just so you know the massive gap between these two countries. NZ is also the 2nd best team in the world, and Tonga wasn’t even considered a team worth competing against before these players switched their allegiance over to their heritage.
Pacific Islanders hold a special place in their hearts for their heritage. Even though we may be born in NZ, Australia, USA We still love Tonga more than anything hence why it was so easy for these players to switch over from these big countries and play for Tonga. Watch the highlights bro, you’ll enjoy the game!!!
Pop of tonga is irrelevant if the players are from NZ or Australia.
@@Me-ex7qg it is, less people = a lower pool of potential talent. Look at some of the worlds biggest countries, they compete at the highest level in most sports because they have such a big pool to choose from. It's amazing to have a tiny pool of people and do so well.
@@aedards We got some big ass people. legs probably the size of the average womens body. when drunk could lift up part of a car.
@@Me-ex7qg mate the populations of Tongans in NZ and Australia is so small.Compared to Samoans,Maori and Cook islanders! So to get these talents from a small pool of community in NZ and Aus is incredible.
I think if all Samoan leave and play for Samoa,NZ would pretty much 6th place and Samoa could be top 3
@@aedards Tonga did exceptionally well, all i was saying is the players came from a larger player pool than the population of Tonga. The pool of players would still be small compared to NZ and minuscule compared to AUS and ENG.
I was at this game...the crowds was going crazy.....Lesshgo!!
True that I was there too bruh
React to Tonga vs Samoa war-cry face off 2017 please brother 🔥 more intense then this one but mean reaction 💯
Yeo 100% and the rivalry that Tonga and Samoa have always had makes it so much more intese, two very very passionate cultures
NRL make so much money of those games you will see red and blue people buying tickets like no tomorrow lol
Coz us Samoans got respect for our Tongan brothers and sisters #tokouso
The rugby league world cup?
aye coming very soon, these hakas hit on a different level
All of this has probably been said..
Firstly, this wasn't a home game for Tonga. They were the away team, playing in New Zealand. Just shows how Tonga shows to support their teams. It's beautiful.
Secondly, Tonga is a Pacific nation of about 100,000 people. For them to beat a team that is full of representatives like New Zealand is unbelievable. This same team went on to beat Australia a few months later (the best Rugby League team in the world)
My last point, this isn't the All Blacks. The AB's play rugby union, a different code of rugby. However, NZ are a rugby league powerhouse in their own right, having a number of superstars within the NRL.
Great reaction. MATE MA'A TONGA!!! Let's gooooo
That's the rugby league world cup quarterfinals. Great game. Jason and the Tongan team made it to the semifinal game where they almost pulled an upset in last seconds of the game against England but they didn't get the call . Both are great games to watch
This has to go down as one of my all time favorite league games
Oh shook!! That was hard‼️
play this at my funeral and ill jump out my casket
To answer your question at 2:43, They also line up like that to sing the national anthem during bigger games. I think they are supposed to line up like that whenever there's a performance
The guy with the braids is Marty Taupau! Absolute weapon
The King Of Tonga was present during this whole tournament and there called Nz kiwis rugby league team
Aay man, you have to check out the Haka Standoff: the junior kiwis vs the junior kangaroos‼️ intense asf!
Is it poor form to cross over the midfield line when performing the Haka? Is there any etiquette there? Or not? Just wondering from Georgia, USA. Thanks. Cheers.
Tongans and Māori stance is respect for their fellow Polynesian brothers❤️
Sean Johnson is a kiwi brother so if he was there he'd be wearing black, not red
Ants Alive *Shaun
We deserved to lose that game. Kiwis crossed the line and got in the cuzzies faces. Tonga held theirs and schooled us with skills and respect. Shot Tonga! Well deserved.
Yeah you gotta watch it!
to stand in a line while the other people is doin a haka is a signal of paying respect
Mans said from nursery rhyme to DMX 🤣🤣🤣
Brooooooo!!!! Ruthless game!!! 🇹🇴
Awesome much love😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This game was one of the biggest upsets in the Rugby League World Cup.New Zealand being a teir1 team and Tonga being a teir2.
Heated cause Jason taumalolo and Andrew fifta..drop the kiwi squad last minute to play for Tonga.so Alot of the kiwi players were upset.and this was there 1st time meeting up on the field.
This game was awesome worth doing a reaction to the highlights.
Fifita played for Australia mate
Before rugby, these guys were cannibals and headquarters, raiding each other's islands
That dude with the cornrows got my knees weak.
This is Beautiful the game was an upset to the Tongan brothers and Shawn Johnson is a Maori, I think he was injured but he was selected to play for the kiwis💯♥️
Loved that they threw down their own challenge. That's how warriors do. But credit where credit is due. If Aotearoa All Blacks never did the Haka, I doubt we would have any of these beautiful & powerful cultures representing today. Stand all!
Glad you like it bro. Respect
Shout out to this brother....respect👊
The haka is a call to fight but the opponents respect we all do
The Tongan terminator was there. Voted the scariest player by his peers. Manu ma'u.
There's a few islander teams. Tonga Samoa Fiji png nz. They put on the best games. The passion is unbelievable. It's something to behold. The fans go crazy. It means so much to them.
Go look up the term " samoan sidestep"
The kiwis were straight up disrespectful as fk during their haka
That's why they got smashed in the game during the second half.
game was crazy
@@RareSoulTV hard to believe that was 3 years ago time flies fast
Yip y’all have to lad 🔥
Lesshgo wasn't expecting to see this.
I agree, the best ever Haka upload is not actually the best Haka. I think it was more thought of as the most exciting Haka because it was the 1st time a European team (France) had physically challenged the All Black's Haka by forming the shape of an arrow & advancing towards them. The challenge by both teams always makes for a great game. Maori teams playing against each other have the same intensity as NZ & any other Pacific Island team. Those are our cheerleaders :) Thanks for the upload!
Shaun Johnson is from New Zealand
It’s a must watch game my dawg 😂MMT ALL DAY🔥🔥🔥🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴
Good stuff, always good to get an outside perspective. Speaking of which, from a wider-world point of view, it doesn't matter that much if its the All Blacks or the Kiwis, or Rugby Union or Rugby League, what matters more is showing interest. Cheers.
One of the greatest honors in a international rugby players career is to face the Kiwis and the Haka. I have never faced it but still feel some pride when the Kiwis do it even if they beat the Australian team from time to time.
i have seen adam blear aka the captin of the kiwis team he came to my rugby game i was so happy because he came to surrprise the same damn it was so good
Both cultures are very staunch on there Hakas especially the maori but both are very spiritual and hard on the culture
Guys he lives halfway across the world he ain’t gonna know everything...
One is Rugby Union and this video is a Rugby Leauge team to different types of Rugby
The big fella with the dreds is front row Martin Tapau from manly sea eagles
In Tonga, the war dance is called the Sipi Tau.
It’s a respect thing to line up and watch them intimidate you like a national anthem I guess
Maori vs cook islands now that was more intense than this one

It's not the All Blacks rugby union team, it's new Zealand rugby league, kiwis team.
This is all league teams.
The players you mention and point out are all players in the Australian National Rugby league competition (NRL)
The French were breaking IRB rules by walking up on the All Blacks Haka. You are supposed to stand and watch. Like the Kiwis did here. But always cool seeing the Pacific Nations teams facing off.
@Jeri Brown Thanks for the clarification.
A bit of hype with the hakas & Game Because Jason Taumalolo use to play for NZ Kiwis, but he is also eligible to play for Tonga,
Long story short He walked away from NZ to play for His parents birth place TONGA ..
Its is dope that people from the States are taking a interest in sports down under, tell you what if the USA started taking League or Rugby seriously watch out! Would be a force to be reckoned with!
the one with the dreads is Martin Tapau, and Shaun Johnson is the one in the Black Jersey
That dude for new Zealand with the braids is Sean Paul the reggae singer hah.
Marty Taupau is big deadlocked guy. He played with the "Hitmen" ✊
There’ll be plenty more of these during the Rugby League World Cup in England in 2022. The first match will be on 15th October 2022. Btw, those were the New Zealand Kiwis vs Mate Ma’a Tonga.
I had to rewatch this game due to this reaction! Dammit!
I think you were talking about the French team who lined up and marched forward during the haka to finish face to face with the New Zealand players. Showing they were not afraid because the haka is meant partly to intimidate your opponent. France ended up winning that game too if my memory is good.
Nope that was the rugby final 2011 and the all blacks won it
Shaun Jonson is in the kiwis in black . And the guy with corn rows is Martin tapau
