There a story in samoa where two brothers unite samoa when Tongan control was incressing in the 1300s the Samoans drived the Tongan warriors into the sea and as the king of Tonga left he said malietoa malietau great warriors great fighters and malietoa become one the the highest cheif titles ever since

Some of my best friends are Tongan and to me and my house they will always be family ❤️ 2 cultures but they are both built on a foundation of faith family and respect amongst other things. This was electrifying to watch on tv. Heaps of my hardcore rugby fan friends attended this sold out game & they said it had to be hands down THE MOST electrifying game to be at. 100x more electrfying than an All Black game. The crowd was ignited, not only for the game but for the humility & respect these 2 teams had for each other. Everyone was cheering for both teams. Pacific Islanders are people of faith & respect for God & their cultures. The media (leading up to this game) tried (as they do) to dramatise friction & fighting between the 2 nations making it out like there was going to be deaths at the game (on & off field) & amping police presence, but it was totally the opposite. The Pacific Island leaders did well to make sure there was peace & respect for both sides. Tofiga (MC) did a great job in bringing humour to the game to keep everyone laughing & in good spirits. A historical moment. Tonga & Samoa have their own versions of the haka. This still gives me goosebumps to watch.

Tonga and Samoa are poor pacific islands - if you have rugby union/league talent you will be scouted to Australia or New Zealand. This particular game is played in NZ with former Tongans/Samoan citizens in the crowd. Rugby league has introduced “country of origin”, where you can play for the country where you were born, where your parents or grandparents were born. Rugby league is considered the working class version of rugby union

I'm not sure that was all (also that reason is kinda weird and never heard of that kind of punishment or whatever but not to weird), Tu'i Tonga enslaved parts of Samoa and for at least 300-400 years long.
But the whole of Samoa united and drove the Tu'i Tonga King occupying the parts of Samoa out and back to Tonga.
Also I'm not trying to down play the Tongan Empire I'm just telling like what it is (something like that).
      Keep it *#TokoUso*
