  • The 843 Bobcat has slowly developed a pretty aggressive leak. When it was last pulled in the shop I noticed large amounts of fresh oil leaking from the left hand side skid plate. After a little investigation work it was determined that the case drain hose was leaking on the hydrostatic motor. Check out the channels Instagram account and or Facebook account to see more on the leak. In this video I replace the damaged hose with a new unit. I get close up views of the hydrostatic motor and the gear reduction box if you were curious about what was behind the skid plate.

Yes, I broke it off and never fixed it properly. I need to rebuild the whole quick attach system. The 843 videos were the first project of the channel. Thanks for watching 👍😁

Nice job! That’s a ton of work but it’ll totally pay off 🙂

hey any info on the steering servo valves? can I eliminate them and go old school??

I am not overly well versed on the servo valve operation, but I believe you will lose speed control of you remove them. It's basically a modulating valve that adjusts flow with the ability to move large volumes of oil. Regular motor valves are either on or off without the ability to regulate speed.

Are they supposed to be connected (each hydro motor case drain?)….the whole case drain is confuring me

It's been a good minute, but I'm pretty sure I checked the hydraulic diagram before replacing the hose and it showed a T connection. It should be a drain back to the reservoir to relieve pressure that leaks into the motor housing / case. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Mine also still needs a lot of work! They are very powerful machines. Once you get it fixed up I'm sure you will like it. Check online manuals are available to download for reference. Cheers!

@@BrandonLayMusic welcome to the club.. There's like 10 variations of this machine with various configurations.. It was bobcats bastard child and so many engineering changes for the same model then add high horse power hydraulics no wonder there's so many of them around for parts. No mechanic in his right mind would want to spend 1000 hours just to track down the 1 part you need out of the differing years. Mine doesn't have those dumb servos but it does have the 1 piece axle. Good luck 843ers
The funny thing is this model's chain case was the proven design for about 30 other models and still it's even replicated to this day.

I'm doing this to an 873, do you have a link to the hose you bought?

Here is the link for what I purchased from McMaster. You might want to double check the length and make sure the fittings seem reasonable. Who knows what was changed on mine over the years before I recovered it. I bought a hose 1 1/2 feet long. Thanks for watching! 👍😁
