Hate to admit this but I’ve also made the same mistake. I learned to run a bobcat very similar to yours when I worked construction. Painfully expensive and totally embarrassing lesson learned!! My boss docked my paycheck every week for about 6 months till the repair bill was paid. Could have definitely been worse! Thanks for doing this one it’s an easy mistake to make and your solution takes care of it for good. Stay safe my friend.
Thanks for the comment Shane, It is indeed a very easily understandable, possible, and common mistake to make. With my dad in law and my son using the machine from time to time I would just hate for one of them to make this kind of mistake... I know they would feel horrible about it and I wouldn't be so happy about it either. An ounce of prevention is a pound of cure so this project was money well spent!

Also, you could put a "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" sticker on the diesel side for about $2.
some sandpaper on a block to lightly sand over raised lettering would make lettering pop with orange paint

Watched a kid put gas i his boss' Bobcat a few months ago. Luckily it was a small amount before his boss looked over. Cement contractor if I recall.

You said that was a 1992 Bobcat 863? I thought 863s were made from 1996-2003?

This one is a 1992 Bobcat 863G series.
I'm not sure what years they made that size but it is more than 96-2003
Also, it is an excellent size machine as long as you have a trailer that will move it. it comes in over 9,000 lbs!

@@AHandleOnThings no disrespect I think you are mistaken I just just bought a 2001 bobcat 863 G series and. I have been watching your other videos it has electronic display like mine. A 1992 would have analog display like the 95 bobcat 853h I test drove. Call bobcat with your serial number mine has SN 51444xxxx your model looks just like mine but repainted. You sure it is not a 2002? I also found a Pdf parts manual for a bobcat 863 G series explaining SNs for that model. A 2002 bobcat is worth more than a 1992 bobcat if you ever sell it.

Bobcat company says my 863 is a 1989 based on the serial number. I just checked about a month ago.
Edit: I just looked online and it says they were first made in 1996. Not sure what to think.
That looks like a g series and if I recall the g series came out around the latter 1990s I bleave yours is a 1999 to 2003. The f series was just before that and it was from 1996 to 1999 before that it was c series not sure what year they came out. Just looking at cab I believe you have a g series.
