Yup. My favorite one piece is pre time skip especially the early stuff. I knew coming in they were changing things up for adaptation but never in my life predicted how perfectly they’d capture the spirit of one piece. Beyond impressed and excited.
I 100% agree! They somehow managed to capture the fun and whimsy of the early anime and I cannot be more excited!!! This is so much better than I could have imagined.

The trailer looks great and the line at the end of the trailer is a total Luffy line and I got a lot of faith with inaki as Luffy. Also love how the DF powers are looking in the trailers, as for the fishman they look as good as you can expect in a live action format. Imo they made the right choice going more practical in the live action. Manga & anime is great for Goda abstract art style, but that style would not work in a live action format just saying. Lastly the only real flaw so far is who they cast as shanks, just base on the trailer he don't look like how shank would look. So I wonder if the show becomes a hit would they recast that role since we won't see him again until the grandline. Btw this show won't be a 1 for 1 with the anime so don't expect things to play out the same way 💯
That last line was was PURE Luffy. I got so much joy from that. I think Inaki is going to make us fall in love with Luffy all over again. I was floored by how great everything looks, the set designs, characters, movements and everything just felt right!! I am so excited.
9:27 Nami not being there was normal imo. She was emotionally broken and she stabbed her own arm multiple times making her incapable to fight thus she was not in that lineup. I am not against how they are doing it here, who knows I might even like it more than the original after seeing the full episode when it releases.

I prefer the Arlong walk without her. I think the point of it is that she has been fighting for so long by herself. She now has friends who can help her. She no longer has to fight. I don't think her not walking takes away from her character or anything. They could play it different in the show we'll have to see.

Big agree! Besides, Nami as a character is in general not AT ALL lacking in agency/authority/wit, etc. The fact that she’s typically normally portrayed as so capable and independent really shows how vulnerable she is in that scene, and makes it that much more impactful.

No, Nami shouldn’t necessarily be there for the epic walk… For the first the first time in the story, she’s able to truly depend on others, since she’s actually found a good crew/family. It’s perfectly okay for a character to be vulnerable and to be outright saved by another. It makes great narrative sense in this instance, too.
Yeah, I am taking the L on this one. As a newer fan of the series I can see now this impactful that scene is on the character of Nami and how important it is to the future of her character. I commend you for this reply. Discussion is great when we’re all respectful. And I too, am cautiously optimistic that this may end up being the rare adaptation that’s watchable, and even rarer in that it may be actually good. The visual design, costumes, sets… almost shocking how faithful everything looks. Looking forward to finding out in a couple of weeks!
@@dohalimilqarasdeldemenanci8483 I think it is fine TBH. They are pusing the boundaries of what is palatable for the average viewer and I think making them big but not huge is a great way to save budget and make it more acceptable.
I have been watching in my own for a while. Nicki was a lifelong fan of One Piece where as I was a huge Dragon Ball and Naruto guy. She convinced me to give One Piece a try and I fell in love. If people are interested I would be happy to record my reactions to the anime but we will definitely be reacting to the live action series!!

Yes, but even with a huge budget we have seen CGI go bad but we loved seeing how clean everything looked in the trailer. I am so hyped for this!!!!!

Biggest stunt will be to make key scenes hit as hard as in the anime where they took dozens of more hours to make the characters grow on you.
My only gripe is the fishman not being cgi, 😂Arlong is 8 foot 7inc, marvels abomination looks so good that’s all this needs 😭
I can honestly look past that because I think they scaled everyone done to make it more palatable for the human eye in live action.
