There are a lot of short videos out there of the cast interacting with each other off the set. And you can completely feel the chemistry between them all. The casting for this show is spot on perfection. And what really helped it, besides the great casting, scripting, and the set design, is the fact that Oda, the creator of One Piece, was the Executive Producer of the show. Everything had to pass his approval first.
Alright, let's get one thing straight: One Piece the anime, as of now, has 1079 episodes, but only 94 of them are fillers, which only account for around 9%. Meanwhile, Naruto's anime was made up of around 40% filler while Bleach clocked in at roughly 45% filler, according to Screen Rant.
That is not exactly an accurate percentage of One Piece's filler... If you only count the straight up filler arcs then yes... It is only 9%.... But then you also have the Padding, the recaps, the repeated flashbacks, the overuse of reaction shots and running around etc.... And then that percentage becomes a lot higher.
@@zartey it isn't precisely "filler" but it is just fluff, things that make the story have a much slower pace for no reason and therefore makes it irrelevant/skipeable content.
@@BlackBurrito9073 There is a reason! The anime has to stay behind the manga, which wae easier in the beginning but as time has gone on its gotten harder, thus you see more padding and filler arcs in the show.
I know it was just a joke, but One Piece deserves some respect on the name. It actually has very little filler for a long-running anime series. Whereas Naruto has 40%+ filler content, OP has like 10%.
On the contrary, One Piece is the only anime in the big 3 with not much fillers.. The fillers are like a couple of episodes long only, unlike Naruto and Bleach, where fillers took an entire arc/season or 2.
One piece doesn't have that much fillers, and the ones that exist are soo enjoyable!! One piece is actually a show filled with history and a deep lore, and it is this long just because Oda (the creator) cares a lot about the world he created and its structure. I think the only reason One piece isn't compared to Lord of the Rings is because oda didn't create a different language, but despite that, the world building is fenomemal.
A lot of the filler in the anime isnt filller in the sense of "non manga material", but just repeating the same reaction shots, flashbacks and such. Thats why One Pace is always gonna be superior. Can just watch G8 and such seperatly
Imagine besides a recap, having to listen to a sentence twice because the new island people can't understand you and they always end up finding a "Translator" to translate each sentence back and fro lol so glad One Piece world is just one language with different accent/ special cultural words ahaha
So, there is a fan project out there called One Pace where they have edited the anime so that it basically matches the manga 1:1 and its *much* easier to get through than the original anime. It totally cuts pretty much all the filler and most of the re-cap from previous episodes. Just cutting the re-cap is huge by itself, since re-cap can literally be like 8+ minutes in some of the much later One Piece episodes and manually skipping the re-cap is basically mandatory. The One Pace team haven't fully adapted the entire anime, but they are probably over 80-85% of the way there. Just something to check out if you guys want to get all the major points from the manga, but without the 1000+ episodes.
A story about a guy that's made of rubber "why did his accent change, that's weird" They have telepathic snails, giant sea monsters, pirates and even marines with abilities and you found the dumbest things to nitpick 😐
that's actually really insensitive, they called his accent a "Antonio Banderas impression", that's not a impression... it's just a hispanic accent... that's almost xenophobic...
This is a great intro to the series but I hope you guys check out the source material on your own, or check out comparisons to the live action. So much is lost but this show still manages to keep the spirit of the series intact. Also of the 1070 episodes only 98 are filler. That's only 9% of the whole series, and they are easily skippable lol But out of the 1095 chapters of the manga, none are filler of course Great reaction
It's kinda hard to classify "filler" in One Piece anime because it's not the same as a filler episode or arc ala Naruto. No, One Piece does filler by copying the original Dragon Ball Z anime (not Kai), where in a 20 minutes episode, you'll have 5 minutes of recap, 5 minutes of flash back, 5 minutes of staring at each other and powering up and maybe 5 minutes of actual new contents. So that chart that said One Piece anime only has like 10% filler compared to Naruto's 40% is not ... wrong but also not right either
I am glad I am not the only person to notice the similarities between Aang and Monkey D. Luffy. They are very similar and it becomes more apparent the further into the series you go.
One thing to point out is that wanted poster bounty levels are a good measuring scale on how powerful a pirate is. So buggy at the end having 15M is ironically no joke.
Luffy is 17yrs here. His definition of pirate is Freedom. This anime is f awesome the story get deep and dark very dark. The creator Oda wanted to creat something different from other anime/mangas then he mix his favorite show into one. Pirates, Lonny Toons even Tom and Jerry and with alot of real life people bade characters 2 but he needed this goofy crazy world for Luffys power work properly. But thats way later in the story.
One Piece is a story that is continually progressing to the end. You cant just pick it up and start watching halfway through, you need to know where you've been to understand where you are. Plus the enormous callbacks and secrets hidden in the early story that reveal themselves later in the show. Like we are only now just learning about Shanks.
Someone actually did the math on filler to cannon stories and it was actually only about 10% but the pacing of episodes can be very glacial at times hence the huge episode count for individual arcs like Wano
Love Morgan's point about adaptations, Emil on point with the Broadcity reference Worth noting that Pirate King isn't an actual leadership role but a title given to the 'freest person on the sea." Story is super anti-authoritarian
One Piece is so far beyond Harry Potter or GOT and maybe even LotR, One Pieve to put it bluntly is the most well thought out and intricately detailed world in fiction history. The shows plot and worldbuilding is incredibly deep. Luffy they got so perfectly, they really did an amazing job translating him to live action. This is a story that gut punches you with trauma and then makes you cry and then makes you laugh, the story is so deep and intricate that there are three hour podcasts just detailing each chapter of the manga and combing it over for details.
I’m being very serious. Tolkien and R. R. Martin are incredibly talented writers that made very satisfyingly dense and well thought out worlds. But One Piece is in a league of its own. One Piece isn’t just one land and a few kingdoms, One Piece is thousands of islands each with their own political systems, race, culture, history, and Oda takes the time to explain that all through mostly visual story telling. There the world government, then there’s the islands government, and both have their own histories. You see the level of detailing is almost every scene, even the smallest details have massive implications. Like how you’ll see some people wearing graphic tees next to other in full Victorian dress, after you learn about Little Garden suddenly you realize that each island is on there own time line and are so isolated from each other that vastly different time periods are common and yet they intermix because of the world government making travel possible but not likely. There is simply no world like One Piece.
@@ianw0ngIt isnt. One Piece is top 10 fantasy series all time. The only other Eastern series above it is Berserk. It's in the same league as Malazan, ASOIAF, LOTR and WOT.
I actually love all the One Piece fillers. I also like the Dub and Sub of the anime. They are equally good. This live adaption is awesome so I’m glad you’re checking it out.
Pirate king isn't a totally fictitious concept. There actually has been one or two people that have been called "pirate king" in real life. From wikipedia: Henry Every, also known as Henry Avery (c. 1656 - Disappeared: June 1696), sometimes erroneously given as Jack Avery or John Avery,[a] was an English pirate who operated in the Atlantic and Indian oceans in the mid-1690s. He probably used several aliases throughout his career, including Benjamin Bridgeman, and was known as Long Ben to his crewmen and associates.[b] Dubbed "The Arch Pirate" and "The King of Pirates" by contemporaries, Every was infamous for being one of very few major pirate captains to escape with his loot without being arrested or killed in battle, and for being the perpetrator of what has been called the most profitable act of piracy in history.[8] Although Avery's career as a pirate lasted only two years, his exploits captured the public's imagination, inspired others to take up piracy, and spawned works of literature.

@brookierose8690Do you mean the original show/manga, the live action show, the reaction, or something else is horrible? Your vague comment is confusing.
Ruruoni Kenshin was actually a very good anime live action adaptation and the final villain was played by the same actor who plays Zoro in this, so i count this series as the 2nd best live action anime adaptation
This show (and the anime) is anachronistic. The world isn't set in a realistic time, it takes stuff from many time periods. Thats why you can have flintlocks and baseball hat. The show takes this stuff and says "Fuck it, deal with it, thats not what we are here to tell".
Honestly most of the One Piece anime isn’t even filler. They definitely drag out the fights more than the manga does, but other than that most of it is actual story or character building!
I''ve been looking forward to this ever since you mentioned you'd look into it in the Death Note finale stream. As someone who knew nothing about One Piece going in, I ended up really enjoying this show!
The bathing suit reference is literally a theory of what the one piece is 😂 at this point in the story we still don’t know. But it’s close to being revealed.
You guys can watch the One Pace version of the show. It SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the amount of episodes to a digestible amount. All fillers and other episodes that don't matter are left out, so only the major plots are present.
During the intro you guys were focussing a lot on that a long running anime like this has like 50% filler. In the case of one piece, its largely following the manga which is in itself almost 1100 chapters now. Thats not a bad thing, Oda (the writer) has a knack for world building and a long overarching mystery that gets revealed over time that makes it worth it. There's maybe like 5% actual filler in one piece (one arc in particular is actually incredibly fun). That being said, in later parts where the anime caught up to the manga they just started padding for time (think of the first five minutes of the episode being an unneeded recap of the last one and unnecessary camera pans and tension shots that just feel weird). At that point though there are versions of the anime that cut all that stuff out and it isn't nearly as bad. Do note that this stuff really only gets that way after like 500 episodes. So the anime is not all that bad as you may think.
I love how he correctly pronounces Roger's name at 06:30 (and he admittedly watched some of One Piece before), yet Sean thinks that he's making a dick joke 😂.
One piece doesn't really have any filler, their arcs are just extended and very low paced and that's what makes the series legendry and worth if u give it a shot.

It’s crazy how One Piece has given them in just a few days SO MANY views. Much much more than their average video. That is the power of One Piece. I don’t know why reactors don’t exploit it.
One of the impressive things about the One Piece anime is that there are less than 100 episodes of filler out of the 1079 episodes currently out. 100 still seems like a lot but for a weekly release anime its actually kinda crazy how low the number is
That is just counting the episodes that are straight up filler.... But there are a lot of other elements such as padding and recaps that makes the OP anime eventually become as tedious to watch as other long-running animes.
Correction: One Piece has very little ‘filler’ Seemingly minor moments and details are puzzle pieces for something greater about 100-200 episodes where the show will put it all together while reminding you of those previous details. These moments then stack on top to an even greater puzzle that will eventually tie together with the One Piece. 1000 episodes in and we are seeing just how much everything is so perfectly tied together.

@@paulssnfuture2752 Where I ever compare them? I said it is like LOTR *inside the anime world* if you ever pick one it would definetely be One Piece because it have a similar fantasy big world building, and not that it is exactly the same.
I knew it some LOTR fanatic fan would reply like that 😅 I'm aware of how big LOTR is because I'm a fan of it myself, GOT and HP also a fantasy world.. I aways see one piece like a book in mangá/anime format, I'm not comparing quality or who's is better or anything like that, so please calm down a bit.
@@BlackBurrito9073that's not filler
@@zartey it isn't precisely "filler" but it is just fluff, things that make the story have a much slower pace for no reason and therefore makes it irrelevant/skipeable content.
@@BlackBurrito9073 There is a reason! The anime has to stay behind the manga, which wae easier in the beginning but as time has gone on its gotten harder, thus you see more padding and filler arcs in the show.
@@unclewiley1986 I know that, it still doesn't take away the fact that those are unnecessary content/filler.
It really did my heart good to see this turn out so well, especially with how held in a high regard the source material is.
Its cray how Americans seemingly can only discuss content through references to other shows
I know it was just a joke, but One Piece deserves some respect on the name. It actually has very little filler for a long-running anime series. Whereas Naruto has 40%+ filler content, OP has like 10%.
Word for word 🗣️
Our favorite ashholes watching our favorite band of goofy terrorists?? My dudes, it's Christmas!
Monkey is not his first name, it's his last name. All the characters that have more than one name like Luffy basically say their last names first.
On the contrary, One Piece is the only anime in the big 3 with not much fillers.. The fillers are like a couple of episodes long only, unlike Naruto and Bleach, where fillers took an entire arc/season or 2.
I doubt you guys would do it since it’s so damn long, but I think you’d LOVE the anime
Also. Zoro has _green_ hair. Eren’s Real Dad™️ intensifies
Finally, another reason that get me back to you guys
Excited to be on the journey again
do you fw JJK? we just started that too!
Actually..not yet, but I'm following your FMAB reaction
We’re digging the hell out of it
Wait wait wait, I've never seen the sub button light up like that before. I'm actually mind blown 🤯🤯🤯
I had the same thought when luffy was wondering about where the 3rd sword goes lmao
"500 of them are filler" is a COMPLETELY incorrect statement. One Piece actually could desperately use some filler. This isn't Naruto, mate.
As a fan of 17 years i love this live action
Ikr
that's actually really insensitive, they called his accent a "Antonio Banderas impression", that's not a impression... it's just a hispanic accent... that's almost xenophobic...
@@Erick.Peixotoi mean they us people we should be thoughtful of that, lack of cultural awareness outside of pop culture is to be expected
@@Erick.Peixotooof i did not notice that the first time … 😬
This is a great intro to the series but I hope you guys check out the source material on your own, or check out comparisons to the live action. So much is lost but this show still manages to keep the spirit of the series intact.
Also of the 1070 episodes only 98 are filler. That's only 9% of the whole series, and they are easily skippable lol
But out of the 1095 chapters of the manga, none are filler of course
Great reaction
It's kinda hard to classify "filler" in One Piece anime because it's not the same as a filler episode or arc ala Naruto. No, One Piece does filler by copying the original Dragon Ball Z anime (not Kai), where in a 20 minutes episode, you'll have 5 minutes of recap, 5 minutes of flash back, 5 minutes of staring at each other and powering up and maybe 5 minutes of actual new contents.
So that chart that said One Piece anime only has like 10% filler compared to Naruto's 40% is not ... wrong but also not right either
Just to clear up One Piece has about 100 filler episodes to 1079 total, whereas other long running anime tend to be 300 fillers out of about 700 total
6:29 sir you are not allowed to make that distinction until after drum island
One Piece is a story that is continually progressing to the end. You cant just pick it up and start watching halfway through, you need to know where you've been to understand where you are. Plus the enormous callbacks and secrets hidden in the early story that reveal themselves later in the show. Like we are only now just learning about Shanks.
The way Alvida just ragdolls off the ship will always get me laughing lol
Someone actually did the math on filler to cannon stories and it was actually only about 10% but the pacing of episodes can be very glacial at times hence the huge episode count for individual arcs like Wano
Love Morgan's point about adaptations, Emil on point with the Broadcity reference
Worth noting that Pirate King isn't an actual leadership role but a title given to the 'freest person on the sea." Story is super anti-authoritarian
"He's kind of like a cult leader" -- I can't believe how accurate of a description this is in the manga
Is Morgan skinnier?? 🥺She's as quick witted & perceptive as ever tho, with her jokes and comments... love u Morg 💕
Preach brother, I don’t want to disrespect the great of Tolkien, George RR Martin, etc., but One Piece World Building can goes toe to toe with them
now now, let's not get carried away with hyperbole.
Voldemort is Pedhophile. He gets all the power to destroy the world but came to school instead. So dumb.
@@ianw0ngIt isnt. One Piece is top 10 fantasy series all time. The only other Eastern series above it is Berserk. It's in the same league as Malazan, ASOIAF, LOTR and WOT.
NAH BRUH THE WAY HE LOOKED AT HIM WHEN HE CALLED LUFFY MONKEY LMFAOOO
Morgan's "Hire him!" is officially my fave reaction line to anything, ever
as someone whos read the whole thing, the actor for Luffy is the perfect fit, theyre all good but hes perfect
1:59 one piece has the least amount of filler out of the big 3. everything after like episode 400-500 is all no filler
Relax guys! One piece does not even have 100 filler episodes. For 1100 episodes that's not much, considering it is a weekly production
I actually love all the One Piece fillers. I also like the Dub and Sub of the anime. They are equally good.
This live adaption is awesome so I’m glad you’re checking it out.
Ruffy Had to Stab His eye, to resemble Odin🎉
Pirate king isn't a totally fictitious concept. There actually has been one or two people that have been called "pirate king" in real life.
From wikipedia:
Henry Every, also known as Henry Avery (c. 1656 - Disappeared: June 1696), sometimes erroneously given as Jack Avery or John Avery,[a] was an English pirate who operated in the Atlantic and Indian oceans in the mid-1690s. He probably used several aliases throughout his career, including Benjamin Bridgeman, and was known as Long Ben to his crewmen and associates.[b]
Dubbed "The Arch Pirate" and "The King of Pirates" by contemporaries, Every was infamous for being one of very few major pirate captains to escape with his loot without being arrested or killed in battle, and for being the perpetrator of what has been called the most profitable act of piracy in history.[8] Although Avery's career as a pirate lasted only two years, his exploits captured the public's imagination, inspired others to take up piracy, and spawned works of literature.
Clicked on this just because I've been on a One Piece LA fixation and was pleasantly surprised to see a Bit Brigade shirt straight off, love those boys
You guys' overall grip in the first episode is actually good. I can see the type of media you guys consume with your references and how you lists what you like and you don't from OPLA.
If I'm being honest, I like skeptics like this because it starts off like this then by episode 5, 6, 7 we'll see how the world and characters grow on you.
Enjoy the show 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
@brookierose8690Do you mean the original show/manga, the live action show, the reaction, or something else is horrible? Your vague comment is confusing.
"and 500 of them are fillers" nah probably like 35 lmao
It's whimsical and fun but it'll have you in tears soon enough 😁
its actully only 100 fillers in the anime and its up to 1079
I love watching group reactions to this! Gonna be keeping up with yours!
They definitely drag out the fights more than the manga does, but other than that most of it is actual story or character building!
in the beginning it is all fun and ha-ha-ha, but it always ends in tears.
26:13 You soon meet the REAL cult leader in this show lmao
In accordance with Asian culture, the show puts the family name first. So Luffy is his own name and Monkey is his family name.
A nice, lighthearted show. Prepare to cry.
I''ve been looking forward to this ever since you mentioned you'd look into it in the Death Note finale stream. As someone who knew nothing about One Piece going in, I ended up really enjoying this show!
god im so happy, all my fave show reactors are doing one piece
The bathing suit reference is literally a theory of what the one piece is 😂 at this point in the story we still don’t know. But it’s close to being revealed.
Is crazy that one piece has just a few fillers, sometimes feels like some scenes are longer than they should, but is almost everything cannon
You guys can watch the One Pace version of the show. It SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the amount of episodes to a digestible amount. All fillers and other episodes that don't matter are left out, so only the major plots are present.
Naruto - "Follow your dreams!"
Dragon Ball - "Never give up!"
One Piece - "FUCK THE GOVERNMENT"
"500 of them are fillers."
This ain't Naruto sir.
One Piece actually has very little "filler", they just drag stuff out.
OH THIS REACTION IS WHAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR
One piece doesn't really have any filler, their arcs are just extended and very low paced and that's what makes the series legendry and worth if u give it a shot.
I'm glad you guys are reacting to this great show sooner rather than later. Makes the wait for season 2 not so bad
Spotted the Al Swearengen cameo right off the bat! Nice.
Being a teacher myself… no, sometimes you just have to do everything to survive, especially if it’s not one student but most of the class are talking in class, you just can’t separate a few from the noise…
'it is world like no others' folks
Luffy the actor Iñaki Godoy is Mexican , Peter Galdiot (SHANKS Red hair) It's the same 🇲🇽
His name is Luffy. In Japan names are in reverse so family name comes first, Monkey D Luffy. For us its Luffy D Monkey. Roronoa Zoro for us would be Zoro Roronoa. We call them Luffy and Zoro
i feel like the live action is perfect because it got me to actually start one piece. im around 700 episodes in and i don't regret it
"and 500 of them are filler" WHERE
It’s crazy how One Piece has given them in just a few days SO MANY views. Much much more than their average video. That is the power of One Piece. I don’t know why reactors don’t exploit it.
The long blonde haired marine guy is named Helmeppo & the orange haired girl is named Nami
Okay, let’s see the definition of badass. *[opens dictionary]* Wait, it’s just a picture of Zoro…
For One Piece, it's currently over 1,070 episodes, and out of those.... less than 100 are filler.
Cant wait when they are already halfway the season when their reservations about the show have shed off
For comparison the amount of one piece fillers episode so small compared to other shounen series but fillers like g5 arc was so top notch comedy 😂
Correction:
One Piece has very little ‘filler’
Seemingly minor moments and details are puzzle pieces for something greater about 100-200 episodes where the show will put it all together while reminding you of those previous details. These moments then stack on top to an even greater puzzle that will eventually tie together with the One Piece.
1000 episodes in and we are seeing just how much everything is so perfectly tied together.
Ey guys I missed the gang just waiting for you to catch up with this series! Lezzgow!
First time watching the live action One Piece one of my first thoughts was "I hope Luffy slapped him with his hand"😮
I’m so excited to see you guys watching this! Found you through ATLA and Korra and your Attack on Titan videos.
I’ve been a fan of One Piece for 15+ years, and it’s so great to see these characters brought to life in a new way. It is, no joke, my favorite story and my favorite characters in any medium. I’m here for the journey with you all!
Fingers crossed Netflix can keep it going 🤞
out of 1090 episodes only 100 episodes are filler and most of it is spread across pre-story for movies and domestic content we all crave lol
