this track has claimed many iRacing lives ^^ turn 6 killed me like 3 times in the Porsche GT3 Cup series, instant death if you kiss the inside wall (1:04)
Tried it in GT Sport. Good lord that lap is fast.He had to do everything goddamn near perfect. I was roughly around 2:02.5 which is on par with the irl drivers. (fastest time was 2:03 flat this year)
#DoItForDale i do both race in real life and play sims. a sim will allow me to access any track in the world at any time. to familiarise myself with any new circuts if needed and i can push at 110% can die 16 times trying to make a perfect lap. in real life i have to start at 90% and slowly squeeze 10ths at a time out. also sims are far more cost and time effective.
+tangles01 with such racing luminaries like the late Possum Bourne, Rod Millen, Denny Hulme and of course Bruce McLaren all hailing from NZ, it's as if NZ have a production line of professional racers in constant production!
+hvf26 word on the street was that the Pirelli tyres had the edge for "one-lap/qualifying" laps whilst the Michelin tyres had the edge over multiple stints. That really didn't effect the SVG/Parente/Web 650S GT3 though; they managed to win the race (relatively comfortably) despite having to serve a penalty for pit-lane speeding!
+Donn Alfred Mendoza Also don't forget that the car had an issue and was stopped on the start/finish straight for about 45 seconds until Parente did a full system restart!
The bends on Mount Panorama are some of the best in the world. Absolute precision and pedal to the metal. I've seen some of the best crashes and some of the most awesome overtaking go up and down through the bends. Fantastic driving, total respect.
So much grip on the front end and confidence inspiring traction. The car turns in on a dime. Love it. Think I need to go drive the 650S GT3 in Assetto Corsa for a bit. :P
+Davi Lu So do I. Really fun, and tests overtakig commitment, particularly when you reach the summit and The Chase. Hell Corner on a hi-PR car is a breeze.
+Blame how so? More power, less mechanical and less aero grip. No ABS or TCS. Sequential shifter.. Definitely not as easy. Even Rick Kelly said he can triple stint the GTR and be comfortable but the V8 is tough!
if you have not driven that track, you will have no chance of understanding just how steep the first downhill S bends are, called The Dipper. Its narrow, steep, watching this car go through there at speed is unbelievable. I worked in bathurst for a few years, drove countless laps, perfect track, great to drive.
i love that as a 50 year old bloke, i take EXACTLY the same line and gears around the mountain , in SIM, as this guy does.....its epic in modern day sim, to drive it is another level entirely...basically park your 'self preservation' instincts at home!
Good god the speed across the top of the mountain is insane. Ive driven around the track in a family car. Its damned narrow. Ive watched many videos and this one is obviously and absolutely really really fast. Epic.
Sensational lap by SVG!! You guys certainly did get the lap record but it wasn't this lap. It was the 2:01.567 on lap 23, officially a lap record must be produced in the race. Personally I think the 2:01.567 is even more impressive, likely having far more fuel on board and a more conservative map!
Fighting this track in Assetto Corsa Comptizione in VR now. And it's pretty intense from the safety of my rig. Imagine real life, and he's still 3 secs faster than me lol
+Troy Seven . Hopefully he would be a good teacher. Unfortunately that isn't always possible, because good teachers often have a slightly different skill set. .. For example, he knows how to drive via the 'seat of his pants', but he might not know how to convey the way that works. There is a magical connection between his pants and the slip angle of the tyres. . (Idiom: 'by the seat of (one's) pants'. Informal. 1. In a manner based on intuition and experience rather than method.)
Haha I came here for this, I didnt think about the left to right hand drive changeover, but my first thought was anti roll bars or brake bias from Supercars 😂😂
Man, that was an awesome lap! He has so much confidence in that car, picking up the throttle so early around corners... BTW, what's the yellow button on the left of the steering wheel that he presses... headlight flashing? He does it a couple of times as he comes close to the back marker.
SVG's ability to drive all manner of cars well, be it GT3, V8's or even time attack cars is without a doubt his best asset. Lift through the chase... I think not.
Absolutely amazing! Especially when you consider they're driving upside down all the time, so the aero must push the car to road way harder than on the upper half of the planet. Or maybe the Kiwi have evolved to compensate for that through driving skills.
I tried to find something to critique him on, where he could have made up time... However, it turned out that this indeed was the perfect lap.... amazing
Could you imagine how scary this would be if you were a passenger. Also, I know race cars have crazy aero and stick tires but my gosh! It seemed like he barely slowed down then went back up to insanity mock 3
I'd really love to be the driver he overtook, haha. I'd tell my grandchildren: "And in 2016 I was in that video where that other guy beat the lap record in Bathurst."
and after that .,. SVG...takes the Win...awesome race last yr..going to be a good one today as well...great vid ty for sharing...nice ride along.🐈🙋.....luv McLaren's..
I love his extatic "WOOO!!" at the end. Absolutely amazing drive.
Drew Laslo Yesss!
Reminds me a lot of the 2003 Bathurst 1000 when Greg Murphy gave off a huge WOO after the lap of the gods
It's a huge challenge even in videogames I can't imagine driving it in real life. Those walls are pretty damn close.
this track has claimed many iRacing lives ^^
turn 6 killed me like 3 times in the Porsche GT3 Cup series, instant death if you kiss the inside wall (1:04)
well, at least i was able to do this in forza 6 somewhat
Tried it in GT Sport. Good lord that lap is fast.He had to do everything goddamn near perfect.
I was roughly around 2:02.5 which is on par with the irl drivers. (fastest time was 2:03 flat this year)
What you can never appreciate unless you go around in the real is the ascent and descent steepness.
Oussama Erraji lol yes
This track is insane! One of the best tracks in the world.
If not THE best. I'd put 2nd after Nordschleife, but a lot of people would disagree with me :)
@@mikhailman actually he said one of the best, not the best
@@nmdvalkyrie2862 And i said "if not THE best". I didn't say "it's not the best".
For me one of my favorites
@@mikhailman Agreed
The confidence he has in that car is astounding.
Either that or he just has nads the size of bowling balls.
+fidorover I'm going with both.
Both
His big balls actually helps lower the centre of gravity
Huge nads
It's called being good at what you do.
The downhill section is just insane!
+GadgetAndKite I've driven down it in my road car. It's terrifying.
+Paul Howard what car do you drive?
matthew kemmings Just an FG XR6.
After a while you should get used to it.
Try skateboarding down it during the downhill skateboarding world championships. Alot cheaper than GT3 racing haha.
This guy really was pushing the limit as if he was in a video game...so excited to see such driving in real life
+James Liu i hate video games!!!!!
whats wrong with video games?
nothing I just like the real world intstead of a fantasy
You play video games or sims in the real world, you dont fantasize about playing video games.
The car balance is amazing, wow
over those big hills with the drops he just kept it pinned and the car stayed dead straight didnt even lift a bit
Is there a separate compartment where you fit this drivers absolutely massive balls?
+11Anti11 Van gizburgen... he's he norm down here where we are mate.
+tangles01 See this every day in NZ schoolboys
+ValdeSanus surprised you boys can see anything with the amount of meth you're all on ;) jokes!
+tangles01 with such racing luminaries like the late Possum Bourne, Rod Millen, Denny Hulme and of course Bruce McLaren all hailing from NZ, it's as if NZ have a production line of professional racers in constant production!
+Donn Alfred Mendoza You forgot Chris Amon, Howden Ganley, Scott Dixon.
the mechanical grip on this car is just insane. i think the pirelli tyres had the edge over the michelins this weekend as well.

Haha shit
+Donn Alfred Mendoza, 100% job security for everyone involved I assume.
Shane can drive the wheels off anything! absolutely awesome lap! the commitment required :O
Massive respect for McLaren in the GT3 department. You deserved the win!
Man he makes it look so easy, fantastic driver and car!
Would love to see telemetry overlay apeed gear etc..
Cornering and braking G's would be mental
some reason you never see the brake telemetry... it's always ON or OFF it sucks, i really wish they'd show it on an F1 pole lap or something
Shane Van Gisbergen, what a talented driver. Blancpain GT endurance champion this year. That says a lot.
The bends on Mount Panorama are some of the best in the world. Absolute precision and pedal to the metal. I've seen some of the best crashes and some of the most awesome overtaking go up and down through the bends. Fantastic driving, total respect.
Consistency, calm, focus, hard work... engineers, mechanics, managers, driver... good work guys, awesome job!
These video games now a days are so real looking!
So smooth plus those perfect lines = great lap
Now to win the 1000 this year Gizzy!
Shane van Gisbergen is without a doubt a formula 1 level driver, one of best drivers I've ever seen
Incredible lap! Love the "woo" at the end. He knew he nailed the lap
Yea boys I watched this lap live :DDD
which at Bathurst means you actually saw about 10 seconds of it, otherwise on a screen like everyone else
those brakes are something else .... he braked so late at the end of Conrod Straight!!
So much grip on the front end and confidence inspiring traction. The car turns in on a dime. Love it. Think I need to go drive the 650S GT3 in Assetto Corsa for a bit. :P
SVG.. such an awesome driver! My favourite to watch -- I try to watch everything he races in (a lot..) :D
this was my favourite track in Real Racing :F
+Davi Lu So do I. Really fun, and tests overtakig commitment, particularly when you reach the summit and The Chase. Hell Corner on a hi-PR car is a breeze.
closedcl8 and those turns before the monstrous drag...Nissan gtr yeah
The downhill is phenomenal
I mean it's fun, but it's nowhere close to the rear track, play it in a sim game and you will find out about the walls
lmao i still have this game.. opening it up rn
Wow. Just incredible driving.
The prettiest GT3! This track is a piece of cake for V8 Supercars drivers though!
+F1JunGT the V8's are way easier to drive too.
+Blame how so? More power, less mechanical and less aero grip. No ABS or TCS. Sequential shifter.. Definitely not as easy. Even Rick Kelly said he can triple stint the GTR and be comfortable but the V8 is tough!
+Blame You almost had me there
can someone explain this comment to me I don't get it
+matthew kemmings V8 supercars is an Australian championship series which is awesome!
Brilliant driving, so smooth.
Played that in racing game Real Racing on my iPad. Awesome to see the real thing from inside a McLaren! Thanks for sharing.
This was almost frightening to watch! Hell of a driver Shane is!
i have never seen a car stick to the track like that before!!! amazing driving as well
if you have not driven that track, you will have no chance of understanding just how steep the first downhill S bends are, called The Dipper. Its narrow, steep, watching this car go through there at speed is unbelievable.

amazing commitment through the twisty downhill section
i love that as a 50 year old bloke, i take EXACTLY the same line and gears around the mountain , in SIM, as this guy does.....its epic in modern day sim, to drive it is another level entirely...basically park your 'self preservation' instincts at home!

The lap not the video...
Невероятная машина и пилот.
I love riding with these guys!
Nice lap :)

That celebration after a perfect lap... priceless
Well done Shane. Definitely one of my racing idols, if only I could have 1 day for you to teach me to drive it would be amazing!
+Troy Seven . Hopefully he would be a good teacher. Unfortunately that isn't always possible, because good teachers often have a slightly different skill set. .. That’s the definition of a perfect car set up
That has to be one of the toughest circuits in the world. Super tight high speed.
Haha when he went to shift up with a sequential shifter thing and realized hes not in a v8 supercar
madness
Jump Up Mixes You got Saggy Balls Punk! Plus you got SKID-MARKS IN YOUR UNDERWEAR PUNK!!
Lengovision He shifted up immediatel before he lifted his hand off the wheel so I doubt that's the reason.
Thought he was adjusting his gloves
Lengovision SuperCars are right hand drive, so the gear stick is on the left. He would have been adjusting his glove, or his hands were a bit sore.
Haha I came here for this, I didnt think about the left to right hand drive changeover, but my first thought was anti roll bars or brake bias from Supercars 😂😂
Finally. Glad to see that you delivered :)
What an incredible track.
Give him a drive day in one of your old Formula 1 cars that you have laying around McLaren. Would be best video on youtube!
Man, that was an awesome lap! He has so much confidence in that car, picking up the throttle so early around corners... BTW, what's the yellow button on the left of the steering wheel that he presses... headlight flashing? He does it a couple of times as he comes close to the back marker.
The homes that scatter this course are fascinating. What a view the residents must have!
The amount of speed these cars carry through the cutting is astonishing...
Skyline/Esses is one of the scariest turns ever. The way you have to split your braking between the two requires such precision and confidence.
Couldn't have done it better myself. Well done!
I can't walk that hill without hitting the fence. He went up and down it like it wasn't there.
I think they hired the right guy.
I love how at 0:29 SVG reaches for a gear shifter 😂 Supercar habits die hard
WOW! Stunning. Awesome to watch.
Uno que agarra tranquilo The Dipper.. terrible como lo lleva.. un crack.
I really love cars that have a LOT of transmission whine
I can't believe a driver like gizzy hasn't got more accolades to his name, he's the best racer in the country in my opinion
SVG's ability to drive all manner of cars well, be it GT3, V8's or even time attack cars is without a doubt his best asset.
Lift through the chase... I think not.
This is mental! Especially that down hill portion.

What??
It's in Australia....not New Zealand
@@donburke4886 But Shane is a Kiwi ;)
I'm surprised that car can even move anywhere with the size of his balls
Awesome run so close to the wall at times
In Bathurst we have many races every year and you can hear it from my school
I had my suspicions about who was driving it but I wasn’t sure but the reaction at the end left me in no doubt who it is..
i think it would've been a 1:57 if the car wasn't carrying his giant steel balls
May favorite track on real Racing 3
Play it in a sim game, there it's more realistic
So smooth and undramatic!
I tried to find something to critique him on, where he could have made up time... However, it turned out that this indeed was the perfect lap.... amazing
This is a sick car. Nice lap.
Most if not all the credit goes to Shane great.
i have never seen a race vehicle go down the mountain as fast as that 650s gtr the driver and car made a very difficult drive look easy
He makes it look way too easy. Very impressive lap!
Awesome lap Shane!
On the limit!! So dope.
Nailed it, especially the first corner
Ah the Kiwi connection! !Bruce would be proud ☺
Although it’s not necessary I always use the apron towards the end of Conrad straight on GT Sport.
Going through The Dipper is crazy!!
These guy knows the track so well he could almost drive eyes closed.
Noob question: what's the orange piping on the right hand side for?
Good to see mclaren back a the sharp end last weekend.
Clearly, the force he used.
that uphill section and the exit downhill is tighter than monaco
Where can I download this guys setup?
La mejor parte esta alfinal, cuando festeja su tiempo
The Giz was driving this car… not surprised 😅
of course it was, guy is a deadset freak, one of the greatest drivers of all time
woow great lap Shane!
Anyone know what the yellow button is that he presses down conrod straight ?
perfect car, great clean driving.
McLaren ... can you please put back the stopwatch that was on this video previously ... better to see the lap with the clock ticking !!
the most beautifull race track in the planet
and after that .,. SVG...takes the Win...awesome race last yr..going to be a good one today as well...great vid ty for sharing...nice ride along.🐈🙋.....luv McLaren's..
What was the increase in 650S sales after that weekend?
#97 Shane Van Gisbergan 🏆
fantastic drive
Mad to think the VASC cars are only a couple of seconds slower than these.
