Coolest part of the video for me was right after the door shuts and the car seems to reset, that beautiful blue light comes on and all the systems boot up. So surreal.
If I could go back in time, I'd show this car to Jochen Rindt and see how he drives it. But I think he'd shy away, thinking it was an alien space car from another galaxy! Still, I would love to see him do a few laps in it. He won the GP of Monaco with an obsolete car! The Lotus 72 should have been ready when he showed up at Monaco but Chapman was forced to use a super modified 49 and NOBODY thought Rindt had even the slightest chance of coming in second. But he drove the wheels off the car and took Black Jack Brabham by surprise, pulling off what must have been one of the biggest upsets in the race's history.
+EVOLICIOUS That was genius! I love it & could get used to it. I also love the paddle shift gearbox system too. The prototypes have been using it for a while, but since the GT cars have had it installed, it's a lot easier on these competitors. Of course, paddle shift does come with its own fair share of problems too, but concentration is not one of them since there's no more gear shift handle to look for while looking straight ahead.
+EVOLICIOUS Amazing? The only thing left is for that software to help him steer perfectly in corners and tell him when to throttle and brake, like a virtual racing line It's pathetic I understand that it's a safety measure like a radar, to tell the driver what's going on behind and on his sides, but im pretty sure many records have been established and many races won and many MANY great drivers formed without any single help of that sort. It's utterly pathetic. And as an software engineer i do value the amount of work that goes into all of that, specially the part of recognizing a car and marking it with an arrow. But as a huge racing fan, this kills the sport itself.
João Agnelo Sorry, I misunderstood. Your point (apart from your complete lack of knowledge on the tech these cars have) is essentially that in the earlier days, without the assistance tech, made better drivers with a higher difficulty. I strongly disagree and you should reconsider the difficulty of driving at night in a much more demanding and powerful car than the GT series has ever had. Even with the tech today, these cars are still raw in input and much higher in difficulty than ever before. João Agnelo LMAO! I can understand you are having a hard time trying to win an argument you lost the second you decided to comment about something you have no idea about. Next time, ask a question instead of making a statement, you will appear as a moron otherwise. I would certainly love to tell you about ICD tech in the GT3 cars, I'm very involved and well informed in this sport (unlike you), but hey, why not have someone give you a visual tour of why you are a complete moron trying to compared apples to oranges. (/watch?v=kGAHwzz_RgA), (/watch?v=mqAidRjWsyg) the racing channel goes into a lot of detail with the tech in some of their videos, (/watch?v=XGiBwgdR9qk), Also here is some info on the Porsche 991 gt3 ICD (similar to most gt3 setups) cosworth.com/about/case-studies/porsche-991-supercup/.
I even love the fact it identifies cars which are coming up fast - note the yellow arrow on cars in the same class or below, but the red arrow on prototypes coming up behind. There's been some scary crashes at Le Mans in recent years where GT cars just didn't spot a prototype coming up behind them, so this kinda tech is very useful.

@@adoyaben He does say this POV, which would mean if the camera is from the car itself, not the driver, then it would not be the same. @@Herkan97 I meant you can find in car views, I don't think there are many from this point of view because it would be hard to keep a helmet cam running for 24 hours and it's an extra thing to fail.
Yeah, that gearbox seems to be amazing. I wonder why they didn't use the full potential regarding transmission though. There are some unused RPM left at the end of the oval section.
TonyR03 IMHO i think its due to a max torque around 5500-6000RPM. at those speeds on 6th gear there really is no point stressing the engine further. But what do i know... Maybe its just practice and the car is not set up correctly atm.
ghosthunter2006 Ok, this is a point I didn't think of, I mean it's a 24 h race, the engine should not be overly stressed if it was not useful. I also thought of slipstream and wind from behind but since there were only 1 or 2 shifting lights on in 6 th gear I thought even that wouldn't be enough to reach the limiter. Maybe the lesser fuel usage is also a fact which makes it reasonable to spare some RPM.

Watching the shift lights, rear view camera & arrows, seeing the 1-2-3 glances while passing, hearing the revs & downshifts, it all just grabs hold of something on the inside of me.
What amazes me is their ability to alter their braking points depending on traffic, etc. I watched closely and it was not identical any 2 laps in a row. That is remarkable and must require a ton of concentration and understanding of both the car and track.

Must be the 5th time I find myself watching this video. Something about night races that amazes me, and I'm so happy that there is POV footage of these races. You really feel lonely in that car. Different from when you watch on TV.
My favorite car in Assetto Corsa.
that car handling and behavior is very balanced. The model and the sound are also beautiful. Such a great experience. Love it!
Thanks for sharing.
Great driving with a great car...passed every car that was in his class
All those GT cars were actually in the class below (GTLM vs. GTD). I don't think there were any overtakes for class position in this video.
lol...Something soothing about watching these vids, whether it's from the driver's point of view or from the passenger side.
Truly amazing. One of the best, maybe the best car video ever.
Thank you so much for doing this /Drive. This was truly amazing to watch!
That rear view camera is so smart! Looks like its come straight out of a video game!
Cool graphics. Is it comming on PS4 ?
TheDidiwolf34 no ps44

Curti! parece um jogo mesmo, incrível
Lol
yes man in year 2066 ! 😉
This deserves more than just 40k odd views. This deserves global recognition, its that good! Keep these vids coming!!
Came here for my late night Corvette fix since there are no Corvettes at LeMans this year. I was not disappointed. Thanks!
Who else wants that awareness system on screen?
I'm sure in a couple years,it will trickle down into production cars.
fullymental307 yes i think so too
This car is a beast. It was just too early for the new 'vette to be out on a track. Better luck next year!
Absolutely brilliant. Keep these /Driver's Eye segments coming!
That was marvellous! Thank you for posting.
Awesome corvettes are Badass cars :-)
future driving simulator with oculus rift :D
Project cars hopefully :)

@@ukarlu Apparently not. AC is better VR. And iRacing is just pure SIM racing. P Cars isn't bad now, but it could have been better.
Love drivers eye videos, would love to see more of them!
this videos make me sooo happy!!! thanks!!!
Love the helmet cam...wish there was more footage like this.
This is what I believe to be the best In-Car EVER!
