IMSA EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS: Rolex 24 at Daytona | 1/28/24 | Motorsports on NBC
/ motorsportsonnbc - Спорт
race control really said “i’m tired” and ended the race a lap early lmao
They were as bored as we were !
The Rolex 23:58
@@Clyde-2055wasn’t that boring, especially as it’s 24 hours and that close
Yeah it was kinda a pretty boring race
@@JackOldenburglast year better
IMSA never disappoints but that finish was confusing. Hopefully that doesn’t happen at Sebring but I doubt it
Sources say Taylor Swift was invited to wave the chequered.
@@misterdog7 😂
They quite literally disappointed with the ending and the horrible broadcast but okay... lol
Yeah please that sucks
it was just the live screen that was incorrect, the actual flag waver was correct, they waved the final lap flag signaling 1 to go but the screen said 2 to go. so race control was correct they just put up the wrong thing on the screen
The coverage of the race this year was absolutely atrocious, going to break every like 5 minutes, going to break DURING ACTIVE BATTLES for the lead, like what are you doing???
Agreed. Ended up just turning it off because I couldn't get into the race with all the commercials.
@@leehrvyoswldwatched it on twitch and there was no commercials.
its the price for imsa getting more attention, sucks! Miss the old days on Streaming
@@wyland_6247 I’m going to have to look into this. Can’t stand when they go to commercials when there is action happening
Agreed! That's NBC Sports for ya. Terrible as always.
What happened to the after-race stuff like the winner’s circle celebration and post race-interviews? The coverage just stopped as if they said “f*ck it, that’s enough!”
noone knows hahaha
Searched a lot for some coverage but sadly didn’t find anything. Guess you had to be on place for that lol
I think they were doing something with the movie herd someone yell cut a couple times and the added direction to the crowd
Peacock had a bunch of interviews and post race coverage
they were shooting scenes for the movie, my guess is that they didn’t want to show any of that and then 30 min later go back to the rest of the ceremony
What a strange finish. Great racing otherwise!
They could not STAND Cadillac to win 2 in a row. I caught it -- they cheat to move the Flag. We know Caddy was nailing them and that was their plan.
Overall still 8.8/10.
Strangest finish I’ve ever witnessed.
Yeah was going to say the same thing didn’t say final lap
I was watching live and was tripping!!
Talk about a a buzzer beating finish
Talk ABOUT an official cheat --- They can't stand the Americans to win 2 in a row so you get this. The video proved the Caddy was killing it and would over take easily when needed. @@madmike-1693
@@madmike-1693IMSA on NBC got "IS THIS THE DAGGER".😂
9:00 that shot is absolutely amazing
Much better than the actual broadcast -- no commercials every 3 minutes. But where's the winner celebration and post-race coverage?
They had been up for 24 hours - time for bed ;-)
@@bertram-ravenyep. It was at 24hrs 33 mins and 28 seconds.
You mean the Rolex 23 hours and 58 minutes...IMSA has some serious explaining to do.
IMSA is and will always be second rate endurance series.
They called it to make sure Porsche won.
@@Mandolin1944 lmao you can't be serious man. The gap was too large for the Porsche to lose within a lap.
@@Mandolin1944Porsche its James...😅
@@Law0fRevenge then let the race continue until the last second if you really think porsche was going to win regardless.
One of the best and first (Hope last) Rolex 23:58 race at Daytona.
23:59:24 actually.
@@purwantiallan5089 "Hello and welcome back everybody! It's time for the second edition of the Rolex Twenty Three Hours, Fifty Nine Minutes and Twenty Four Seconds, for IMSA's 2025 season!"
Watched 17 hours of it, didn't regret one single second. Such an amazing race, an insane fight until the very last minutes (not only in GTP).
Really happy to see Porsche on top and BMW up to speed. WEC and the rest of the IMSA season are going to be an absolute treat I am sure.
Proud of Porsche to put Germany on the top step and kudos to Cadillac for the fight till the line!
Hope WEC will be more competitive this season. In IMSA the differences are so close, but in WEC the Toyotas win by a lap or more (except Le mans).
@@deyanbonchev663I agree, but Le Mans could and should have been Toyota as well, the only reason why Ferrari won was because of the change of the balance of performance and even then, Toyota had a change but blundered it by hitting the wall at Arnage corner, after Indianapolis corner. Let's hope that there is a mixture of winners this year.
@@calussy8040 in Le mans even Peugeot had a good pace. So the BOP was fine. Except for the Toyota fanboys.
@@deyanbonchev663 ye, I will say I did like the BOP for Le mans, I hope that it will be similar this year for the WEC cause the Hypercar class is really enjoyable to watch. Just wished there would be 1 or 2 more races each season.
@@calussy8040 yeah, me too. But there are a bunch of other racing series, and maybe there arent many vacant venues. Also the drivers race in many different series.
So there was some racing in between ad runs?
I like that I had to pay for Peacock only to still have to watch full TV-length commercial breaks. Meanwhile the rest of the world watches free and uncut. I really don't mind paying to watch the race, but the commercials are egregious.
I couldn’t watch live. Really wanted and pay for it commercial breaks or not.
This Highlights video is not even 24 minutes. Keeping the tradition alive after the non-24HR race.
Acura with the BOP and what the heck kind of finish was that? 2 laps to go the suddenly checker?
Somebody at NBC told them to finish at :40 and that was it
LMP2 saying: yeah you dont gonna get rid of LMP3 meme driving that easy.
very happy for Rexy's podium and Spike finishing after such carnage
Ngl that freaking Ligier brought absolute comedy to the race
My girlfriend who couldn't care at all about racing came in during one of its off track adventures and went "Jesus christ again with that guy?"
20:05 I was sitting in the grandstand right at turn 1 ad everybody was cheering when Blomqvist split the gt and made the pass.
As a Lexus and Acura fan man that was a up and down 24 hours but congratulations to Porsche for the overall!
the bop was too high on acuras side but we know why!
@@StarFox85 the same reason the bop was high for Toyota's last year's Le Mans.
@@mineralwater6736 really?!..didnt know they where cheating last year!
@@StarFox85 Toyota wasn’t cheating.
@@mineralwater6736 then what are u talking about?
watching on imsa tv is much, much better than what people describe in the nbc broadcast. i used a VPN to change my location so i could watch there with no ads.
and i plan to go to the laguna seca race so im still supporting the series
Wait so what would you have to do to watch it on imsa tv? I got peacock to watch the race and it was awful so many ads
@@Hypogeum
Yes. Stream it off the IMSA TV feed
BUT……
Use a VPN to avoid the excessive ads.
Using the VPN also is helpful to even VIEW some races here stateside. F1, WEC, V8 supercars for instance that are blacked out or something here (stateside) are NOT when using a VPN.
Worth looking into if nothing else to learn something 👍
@@guybeingaguyyeah
Devastated for the Lexus guys. Gut-wrenching race to start the season
Stay strong, Lexus LMGT3 team!😊
Really fair and beautiful racing between the merc and that Ferrari 🎉
Ferrari doing Ferrari things and casually winning another legendary 24h race in the space of 9 months. Great victory for Risi Competizione in the GTD Pro class. 👍
This was the most painful coverage I ever watched live. Coverage like F1, and WEC usually have pretty decent coverage but this was just garbage. Ad’s every 5 minutes or less, no replays until the end of parts, replays of things I couldn’t care less about like the guy pressing the wrong button for fireworks, like I really don’t care. I wanna see my favorite manufactures race not some guy. This honestly was disappointing because the racing itself was awesome but this broadcast was the worse thing ever.
Welcome to American sports coverage 😑 Indy car will have ads in the middle of the race.
There is a reason the NFL is popular there versus everywhere else
💯 Agreed
Yeah honestly….at least with nfl they still have an overlay of the game when ads start playing
@@Bozo_Lord not really that's only during challenged play reviews and when advertisers can fit in during the broadcast. After a change of possession, end of quarter and the 2 min warning: it cuts to a full commercial break
@RubensBarrichello yeah, I felt like I was watching football! At least in football we could still see the game during the ads.
The Rolex 23:59 is over 🥱 …
23:59:33. Thats the actual duration of Rolex 23:59.
Felipão voando como uma nave ✈️😎🤘🇧🇷
It looks like the Cadillac was lighter and more agile, enabling it to brake later. The Porsche on the other hand is heavier brake earlier but got more speed existing the corner.
And had better hybrid harvesting and efficiency
The Caddy was without question the fastest of the GTP cars but I think they mismanaged their electric energy a bit and allowed the more efficient Porsches to hang in just enough to get that pit stop lead... Short runs were more equal long runs were Caddilac all day. Great job by Porsche for their strategy.
What an awesome 24-hour race!
Almost* 24 hour race lol
23.58 hour race
lol will go down as the worst endurance event of 2024 and IMSA is still an ugly red headed stepchild of WEC.
enjoyed this, looking forward to watching the full race replay if it gets uploaded to RUclips. Definitely helps whet the appetite for WEC
IMSA has made it clear, it’s much better to watch the races live.
No commercials, no complaining!
Yes, and no Diffy, but they don't come to to the northwest any more,!
The ending was pitiful. At minimum there was one more lap, most likely 2 laps left. Was NASCAR race control running the race? That has Steve Phelps written all over it. IMSA looking like the WWE of endurance racing.
WWE is scripted...i'm tired of people comparing everything to "WWE"
@@jabber1990 thats his point buddy 🤪
Nascar does own imsa
Thank you for the highlights!!
Man, I love Daytona. You don't get to see the cars go flat-out that often, so it's a real treat treat to see them race here.
Yes
Daytona 200 for bikes coming up in a month too.
Thank you for the upload NBC Motorsports.
Immensely fun race! So many drivers that impressed and surprised me, like Nasr, Blomqvist, Rasmussen and Zilisch.
Superb extended highlight video!
ridiculous number of ads....
Thank God that here in Brazil live sports can't be interrupted
That was brilliant. Seeing different class cars racing on the banking in the dark, is amazing. More please.
what actually happened to the two BMW gtp cars as that wasn't covered. this was such a good race though !
YES!! I was saying the same thing🤷😤NBC sucks.
Same, I wanted to know what happened but they never really covered them which is disappointing. Honestly great race, sucky coverage.
Great race, good drama, safe outcomes. Awesome weekend :)
Awesome footage and race... love the night racing!
There was good racing and had to be fun to watch.
Great race great coverage.
Thank you for your coverage!
Now that was EPIC 24hours!
The DAYTONA 23:58!!!!
THAT was a disaster.
Sullies the whole thing.
Massa 🇧🇷🇧🇷
What kind of ending was that? Ended the race with 2 mins to go… wanted Penske to get that win.
There wasn’t 2 minutes to go!
Didn’t end early and the Porsche had a 2 second gap
They were gonna win either way. Cadillac was not gonna catch up.
@@Diddys-BoyToy People paid for 24:00:00 hours of racing, not 23:58:24 hours
@@sarminder4357lol ok, well NASCAR owns IMSA and has an ownership stake in the 31 Cadillac, so I’d take that issue to them.
Watching the prototypes passing the GT cars around the outside of the banked corner is just awesome.
9:00 amazing shot ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
They should rename the event to Rolex 2358 next year
I was watching but got drunk around 8 am and idk wtf happened after that lol
As is tradition with sports car racing.
@@goodshipkaraboudjan absolutly lol
2 to go, Checkered! Idk about that, seems pretty sus.
Amazing Race
This is absolute fantastic
Excellent and Outstanding!!!!
how can u make such a low resolution outro... was it recorded on an iphone1?
Great race
Muito legal!👍
Brilliant commentary
Muy chida la carrera
24 hours of racing for 24 minutes of highlights. Still better than F1.
Awesome !!!
Where can I watch the full race?
Great racing, love the high speed passes! mentally making a note of the car brands that have technical issues for future car purchases.... like i can afford them lol😂
I lost it all on tv and on line live at 1 hour mark, NBC had some garbage on but listed as the race.... wtf
Forza Risi ! #62❤❤❤❤
Fantastic race. Congrats to Porsche and good show to #31 Caddy
great race!
Iam amazed by the performance of Ferrari with a new car! Kudos
bummer of an ending for a Rolex timed race but what a good watch up to then, great racing so excited for the season
Please make a 10 min highlights Video too, thanks
I am here for the commercials, they were Awesome this year.... oh ya and the racing!
2 days later still watching this
Over 4hrs. of yellow! Re-setting the entire field with every flag made this unwatchable.
As a Cadillac fan ending 2 laps early hurt🥲
The ending was a shambles that spoiled a super close finish
anyone know what happened to #4 corvette in GTD Pro was it mechanical problems or just lost pace on the field being multiple laps down ?
I heard it was a power steering issue
Maybe because they are not factory team anymore :D
@@jonpetter8921 🤔😆
Go Brasil!
Oh, and congrats to the #57 Winward, being the first to finish after 24 hours. 24:00:01.790 🏆
You mean the 23 hours and 58 minutes of Daytona.
Felipe Nasr merecia ter tido uma melhor sorte na F1.
FINALLY YOU DON'T DO GEOBLOCK
THANK YOU
I was so excited for this race, let's get the season started, then I see it's on NBC, never good, so as I sat there for a couple hours trying to catch a glimpse of the race between constant in your face Toyota, Lexus and Spectrum commercials, all products I would never buy, but that's all NBC was giving me, I walked away and never looked back, find the results here.
We need an explanation for how the checkered flag got flown early. Maybe an honest mistake, but I personally don't recall IMSA making such simple screwups so easy.
you could have done an exact 24 minute highlight video for a 24hr race😁
It was a great race. A circuit less than half the length of le Mans and several cars on the lead lap after 24hrs. There was a good battle between the Mercedes and the Ferrari for the GTD lead after a safety car in the morning too. I thought the officials got the timing wrong at the end but it seems that they decided to end at the scheduled 13.40 on the dot rather than compensate for a slightly late start.
6:59 min. WHAT A BATTLE! Wohooooo! THAT'S What GT3 brings to the Table! Awesome! Daytona 2024 deliverd BIG this year again! THX A LOT! One of the Endurance Highlights of the Year!
Glad that we got anther Rolex 24 in the books, the ending was confusing when the flagman waved the checkered flag a lap early and I feel like that the flagman will get fired after today.
The finish of this race is the exact reason why I prefer races with a fixed amount of laps.
Rolex 23:58 at Daytona
they cut out so much of the amazing battle for lead with around 5:50h left, it was fucking awesome
This is NBCSN highlights, so those battles were probably under commercial.
I don't know what happened to the Acuras but it seems like the BOP adjustments are playing a part in it
12:16 NBC/Peacock + IMSA Radio commentary
Was there for 20 hours this year.
For bmw not being in LMP/gtp for a while they’ve done pretty good
Do you guys think the Acura gtp sounds like a radical sr8
People complain about races being boring like it’s someone’s fault.
Good race congratulations to Penske Porsche
I love the Rolex under 24h at Daytona
