McLaren P1 LM sets record at the Nürburgring

- In June 2016, the P1 LM was launched at Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it became the fastest road car to tackle the Goodwood Hill.
Over the past eleven months, as the five P1 LM production cars have been built, the identical prototype XP1LM road car has been testing. During the final phases at Nurburgring Nordschleife, XP1LM achieved a fastest lap of 6.43.2. After setting this new lap record, the car then drove directly from Nurburgring back home to the UK.
This project is the latest collaboration between Lanzante and Kenny Brack. Kenny Brack is known for his 1999 Indianapolis 500 win, 1998 Indy racing champion, and recent gold medal at the 2009 rally-x during the x-games. Lanzante first became globally synonymous with the McLaren name when it ran the semi-works Mclaren F1 GTR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995.
The project also received support from McLaren, and Pirelli who made a specific size and compound road legal Trofeo tyre for the P1 LM.
The P1 LM road car is intended to be the quickest, rarest, and last of the P1 variants. All five P1 LM's are sold, and will be used in the USA, Japan, UAE and the UK.
Lanzante and Kenny Brack shall be allowing journalists to experience the P1 LM production car at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of speed, where they will also host a live talk about their Nürburgring achievements.

at least nurburgring lap videos are getting shorter to watch
IamMotionMedia gg
IamMotionMedia lol 😅
IamMotionMedia and better quality!
the potatoe cam days are of the past !
IamMotionMedia lol especially with a gorgeous piece of engineering
Finally someone decided to use an appropriate camera, put it in the appropriate position and remove all the useless garbage from the screen while performing a run for the Nordschleife record. Thank you very much for this brilliant video.
MyRealName I wouldn't have minded some telemetry though for a car like this but great video nonetheless.
I could not agree more. I want to see what the driver sees.
Not only the camera is properly mounted but someone ACTUALLY locked the exposure so it would't get overblown or too dark.
An external exhaust mic would be cool, video is pretty epic regardless. .. /watch?v=xbMRsu3az4E
would have liked little tacho and speedo tbh
I’ve memorized this track from Gran Tursimo Sport
Same lololll
Forza here lol
Yea i literally only have one problem...i can't stop driving fast...its almost impossible for me to just drive casually...every time i hop on i try to beat my lap time...i know this track so well its unreal n hope to drive irl one day for the humbling experience
Me too !! Session with friend is the paradise
@Riya Yadav in my opinion the best open world racing game is gta 5 because of how realistic traffic and road systems work...and gt sport or forza or assetto corsa for sim racing
This car is so fast, it STILL holds this record at the Ring almost 5 YEARS later. Even with the error at 1:48 and having to lift at 6:32 to dodge a random car, Kenny and the P1 LM still set an insane lap time. Brilliant work Kenny, Lanzante, and McLaren!
But the amg one broke this record.
What's wild to think about is that the newest GT2 RS is only a 10th off this time in a much more "mild" car. Really shows how insanely fast that P-car is!
@@KyilllY_motionHand- are you blind? He commented this a year ago, before the AMG one was run on the ring! 🤦🏻♂️
@@SlightlyM3ntal - agreed, the P1 LM is still crazy fast, even though it is several years old is still extremely fast by todays standards!
this is the most stable and undramatic flying laps ive ever seen. the driver seemed very confident in the car which is probably why the lap time is so fast
u can see that this lap wasnt flat out. this car costs too much
Kevin Müller Flat out I bet it would have done sub 6:40
Kenny Bräck. Former indycar driver/champion at the -90’s/-00
We were watching the same vid right? He twice had to correct because the backend stepped out on him. If the was more in the car (and clearly there was as he got his gears wrong at one point) I don't think see there being another 15secs to be saved. I could be wrong of course, just my personal opinion.
It's nothing like the ruf Yellowbird
Congratulations Lanzante and Kenny Brack! That is an epic achievement and you've nailed it, well done.
well, a handful of seconds to improve for sure.
+Blame even thou there's no such thing as a perfect lap....can definitely get into the 6:30's with less boo boo's and handling tweaks and back 2 back runs.
Shmee150 cool seeing you here
No its not. The Zonda R is only 4 secs slower. Everyone apart from you can see the extra potential in that car. Any chance you can keep you dribble on your own channel. Thx
Shmee150 i always watch your video's keep it up
Yep, all the best racing driver can be found in the comment section.
I hate armchair drivers.
It's funny that you mention that. Almost every RUclipsr and steamer has a chair that resembles a bucket seat, bolsters and all.
beyonder True; but McLaren should have started at start/finish line and not 4.2 sec earlier. If Zonda R and NIO 9 can do it (both are/were rec holders), why can't the Mclaren? I think we all know answer to that. NIO9 is still considerably faster than LM, while Zonda R is on par
McLaren are fraudsters starting the clock late.
You don't need to be a racing driver to see that he fucked up the corner at 1:46 He even shook his head right after it. Everybody make mistakes he still nailed it anyways.
Spectacular, not once did he have to press "Y" to rewind.
Alejandro Gonzalez, lol. Forza reference.
Gotta get the extra dough from the race man option was disabled
Lol Forza
He should have at 1:49, u can see him shaking his head cause he knows he fucked up

that hand switch to keep DRS on during over 190mph :)
Antonele what is dsr?
DRS is a system used in F1 racing. The La Ferrari also uses the KERS system. Things you should definitely look into as they are incredible!
Incredible for marketing to impress idiots. In reality, it's rubbish brought in by regulation.
Malc, it reduces drag, trading downforce for top speed. Explain to us how it's rubbish when it's based on aerodynamics.
The physical system is not rubbish. The 'regulations' on having to be within a second of the preceding car is what is 'rubbish'. I say, let the driver choose to use it any time he wants to make the trade. If he pulls a Senna, that was his choice to make.
The turbo sounds so beautiful on the downshifts!!!
RoostVille it’s joy the downshifts. It him taking his foot off the gas which release the turbo pressure
I love this camera angle. You can appreciate a lot better the driver's skills and speed which usually isn't near to what is being physically inside. It helps a lot
That Oversteer at 80 mph is heart stopping 2:52
This is nothing litle man, trust me ;)
Heart stopping when is oversteer over 200km/h ;)
Should be mandatory to use this camera angle when going for the record on the ring.
Watch B. Senna's Monza lap in P1, the best onboard camera mount I've ever seen. Just perfect.
Love all the people picking holes at this lap, would love to see you set a 6:43 or faster yourself. This lap was out of this world.
HG504 you seem like the typical kid who always says "well go do it yourself". The lap did have some holes on it but not anything major. only the 1:46 part
Pointing out the mistakes only means theres more room to improve on an already record breaking lap. There are at least 2-3 obvious seconds lost in 2 corners.
Hard to pick holes in great lead Trump unless you've been president.
Strawman argument. Most people commenting aren't saying they can drive better. The track is so well known it's easy to identify mistakes; and it makes for good discussion trying to figure out what happened.
You'll find its because we've all thrashed this track on Forza/Gran turismo etc. So we're used to pushing the limits ridiculously far because there are no consequences.
He did make a mistake and shakes his head but the rest of the lap was pretty epic to be honest.
Kenny Brack actually is that fast because he hears something like a breathless growl in the back... there is a monster after him and its about to get him! This car is a beast.
No kidding. A reviewer once sat in the GTR and said that pressing the engine start button caused a bomb to go off behind him, with no sound insulation whatsoever. Having said that, at least on camera, the engine note sounds much better than the standard P1.

OK, This is coming from a guy who finished high school in 1965. I bought my first car in 1967 while in the USAF, a lightly used 1965 Pontiac GTO tri-power. After Vietnam a Cuda. I've driven other stuff. 1970 Boss 302 and it's brother a 1970 Cougar 428. Even a 1970 Dodge with the police package 440, which I topped out at 127 mph. So by now you realize I'm one of those 60's guys who is very adolescent about cars. This course in Germany has become the industry standard, a proving ground for anything you want to earn bragging rights with. I've watched the Corvettes and the Kawasakis crank some good laps with on-board cameras. This P1 guy immediately threw me back to the first day I pinned myself to the seat in my GTO and cornered a Boss 302 so well I could turn understeer into instant oversteer with one punch of the throttle. This is the best hot rod in the world right now, 200+, effortless breaking, not a squeal from the tires in any corner, and a shocking lap time. In my well-seasoned age of 70 I have a soft spot in my heart for the Aston Martins. I love them. But this is the beast that has earned #one and I don't see it getting knocked off the mountain any time soon.
Oh, well... Aston Martin can certainly beat it. The McLaren P1 did a 2:16 on Nardo, while the Aston Martin Vulcan did a 2:11. (with road legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2)
your comment is a complete mess.
Absolutely bonkers, you people at Lanzante are gods.
I was there when they were testing it in october. Now they have set the lap record. I am so proud of McLaren.
I love that engine sound!🔥🔥
2:55 what a SAVE !!!!
Yeah, that bump in the uphill spins you out if you go flat-out.
But this driver just countersteered like a boss.
Well spotted sir.
This is insane. I need a Valium after watching this.
Amine Azdad yeah I caught that too babe
he'll yeah and no hesitation in the throttle... dude has huge balls
Surely this wasn't a perfect lap but yet he still managed to deliver 6:43 :)
This man have balls no doubt about it...
Great car too of course. The GT2RS gets many more attempts at it, which means the drivers gain more experience. The p1 handles so well mistakes can be caught, but still if had more attempts the lap time would be much better.
At 1:40 in I think he had too much wheel spin losing some of his momentum...he even physically acknowledges it with a head shake
Nope. The power was completely gone for 2 seconds, hence why he pulls over away from the racing line, thinking it would come to a standstill

wow, thats intense driving for a solid 6 mins. I'm exhausted from one lap.
Love this lap! thank you for sharing. Mclaren performed excelent. by the way do you trust the car on the bumps? looks a little bit nervous sometimes. 203mph topspeed big thumbs up for one hand drive!
1:47 love how he sucks at that bend and shakes his head afterwards "Duh, damn!"
I reckon it will be faster than if not 1 second if it were faster at 1:46
That has to be at least 1 or 2 seconds, seemed he knew it as well when he shook his head seconds later.
Yep, you can see he is not pleased with that corner. He can definitely find some extra time there. Other than that though, wow, amazing flyer of a lap!
That's the thing about Nurburgring laps. The track is so long and there are so many corners it's really difficult to get a 'perfect' lap. If they do detailed timing and have a driver go do several laps then pick out his best sector times from those, I'm sure it'll combine into a laptime that's at least a couple of seconds faster than his actual best.
ie koenigsegg method.."in theory..."
struggling to understand what happened there...i assume he messed up his entry but its like he brainlapsed for a second & started admiring the scenery.
Holy hell! That was insane. There were a few little wobbles around 3.30ish when he was doing 160 - 180mph!! I've had that at about 70 and it's terrifying at that speed. I just can't imagine having to hold a car together at those kinds of speeds. Although the only other option is a fiery death so I understand his motivation. Absolutely incredible driving.
Insanity. Massive massive balls. I get shakey from all the adrenaline when I race this track on Project Cars!

This is actually sick, its amazing to see the aerodynamics od the car pushing it down against the bouncing wheels at high speed, truly amazing.
I don't hear anybody saying the 918's faster...
-Porsche fans "Well this has a Big wing and it's lighter than before".
I don't think that shaves 10 secs of the previous p1 record unless it was actually faster than the 918 but McLaren didn't want to give us the time...
the record of 5 Min 19 sec is made by a Porsche 919 Tribute as we all know....this is more than one minute faster than the Mc Laren.

Ben Cook wow after 3 years they managed to beat the Porsche's time in a Not even Road-legal car lol
StoRmwarnung94 It is a road legal car. It drove back to the UK afterwards. Besides all these comments about 'it took them 4 years XD' are stupid. This modification isn't even made by McLaren but by the aftermarket firm Lanzante motorsports. They were the ones who organised the ring lap. So no it didn't take McLaren 4 years. They stopped after they realised the Porsche was faster.
Nah, Porsche and Ferrari engineers are laughing their ass off because this is proof that they destroyed Mclaren. Mclaren had to totally redevolop the car and make it much more track focused and hardcore (when P1 was already more hardcore than the other two) in order to beat them. I can't believe how fucking stupid and ignorant mclaren fanboys are. All those humiliations in F1 must have messed up your brains.
Jack Fuller "Road legal" doesn't mean shit. Don't pretend like you don't understand that. A road legal car can be very extreme and track focused, just because it's legal to drive it on the road doesn't mean it's a luxury car. Fact is, even the REGULAR P1 is MUCH more hardcore than La Ferrari or especially the 918. It's by far the least refined, luxurious and comfortable, by far the most stripped out, whereas the 918 was pretty much a luxury car, super refined and comfortable, with all the equipment, leather, etc. in the interior. Both are road legal, yes, but 918 is a far more accomplished car on the road AND on the track. Nobody can deny that the 918 is a better car in terms of engineering and in terms of what it does. It's fast in ALL conditions, plus very usable, very refined, very easy to drive, very efficient, reliable, etc. Like all Porsches. It's a hypercar for daily use, whereas a P1 is very much NOT that, it's a track focused car out of the factory, and this LM version takes it to the extreme. Wanna compare something to it? Well.... compare it to the La Ferrari FXX-K, that's the natural competition for it, not the regular 918 or La Ferrari. That's like comparing a Mclaren 570GT with a Porsche 911 GT3 RS or a 458 Speciale, totally different purposes. P1 LM was SPECIFICALLY engineered to do a Nurburgring lap, the whole setup of the car and the whole purpose was this lap record, 918 is not made for the Nurburgring, it just happened to be very fast on it, but it's very much a road car first and foremost.
derbigpr500 derbigpr500 Like I said, the LM P1 isn't a McLaren car, it was modified by Lanzante Motosports so you can't accuse McLaren of turning the P1 into a completely stripped out hardcore racer. Furthermore, from what I've read from motor journalists the standard P1 is a perfectly fine road car. Not as refined as the other 2 but still perfectly competent on the road and not some F1 car with road tires as you seem to suggest. Also, accusing me of being a McLaren fanboy for correcting someone else's comment says far more about where your own prejudices lie than where mine do. In the end I respect the opinions of motor journalists far more than some aggressive dweeb in a RUclips comments section and so far I've yet to read a review that has nothing but the highest praise for all three cars even in a direct comparison. My feeling from what I've read is that each car is very different and so whichever you like best is most likely down to what you like most in a supercar, whether it be rear wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, V8, V12, etc.
Worth noting they are using the 2 different start/finish lines, while cars like the Zonda R used a single start/finish line. That's worth about 3 seconds, but he also lost a good 2 seconds at 1:49.
SimRacing454 thought i was the only one to notice that
no lol. He was shaking his head after too.

The Chinese electric Nio EP9 got a whole weeks fame holding the record hehe
TheRoggan123 on slicks
kalimul Checked both vids, you are correct, the P1 is not timed over the full lap! Still P1 is on road legal tyres and EP9 was on slicks which should still make the P1 faster on equal grounds. Both amazing machines!
P1 LM 20.6km lap, NIO EP9 20.8km. Look it up your self. NIO traveled further 200meter but lost by sub 3sec.
Neojhun Yes EP9 lap was 200 meters longer but it ran on non-street legal slicks whereas P1 LM used road legal tyres.
TheRoggan123 Gas powered cars have had over a century of development and they can barely keep up with electric that's just now started development? That's not something to brag about...
Whats the difference between the LM and GTR version of the p1?? Someone pls explain to me
Mat EVO7 GTR = not road legal
LM = converted GTR and is road legal
Kevin Cai So the gtr is faster??
Mat EVO7 not sure. the conversion process adds stuff like turn indicators and stuff to the GTR, but it shouldnt be a huge difference in lap times
Kevin Cai I see thanks anyway
Mat EVO7 actually it's the other way round, the Lanzante P1 Lm is in fact a standard P1, made to look like a P1 GT-R.
Possibly the best sounding turbo engine I've heard. An astonishing angry sound.
I came here yeara latee after watching the AMG ONE, and i think the P1 LM has a lot of room for improvement, its a pitty we dont have many vids of this jewel

@Marko Jokanovic nope. P1 has way less traction and is significantly heavier. The senna gtr will crush the p1 gtr on a track.
Senna gtr 6:20 nurburgring is definitely possible. Maybe even 6:15
@Marko Jokanovic the senna gtr is the fastest mclaren ever except formula 1 cars. Which means it is quicker than p1 gtr or even gt3 cars

@Marko Jokanovic p1 gtr is a joke on the track at nearly 1600kg. It is for fun not pace.
7 years later, i think with modern adjustment to aero, power, weight, suspension and rubber it can do a sub 6:30, for example adding lighter battery from speedtail, lighter motor with more power, m840TR with a bit more juice, No AC. Im sure it could become lap record holder again

how is this a production car? there are like 5 of them in total
TheWakerX because it's a P1 owned by Lanzante which has been made to look like the GT-R
still, it's not a regular P1, in order for a car to be considered a production car, 30 same cars need to be build
its not look like P1 GTR, Lanzante converted 6 GTRs to LM
Shumang Chung 5 but yeah I get it. Anyway who cares? This special edition P1 beat the special edition 918. And plus it still counts as a production car because regardless of the 5 that Lanzante own, it is still "PRODUCED BY MCLAREN". That's not me shouting that's me highlighting the actual fact.
those 5 are customer cars not Lanzante has owned them(all orange i believe), plus one prototype shown in the video, and LM has nothing to do with McLaren, it's Lanzante's project to do the conversion(if you refer to P1 GTR that produced by McLaren disregard this comment)

Try doing that in your not road legal GT2RS...
I don't understand why people compare this to the EP9 when both cars finish at the start line, but the mclaren starts its clock ticking like 200m further down the track than the Nio. How is it a fair comparison when the mclaren gets a 3 second head start?
Nio ep9 was on SLICKS so it does not count!!!
Will, its actually a 4.24 second head start! McLaren should man up and do the whole lap!
Zonda R & NIO EP9 did the WHOLE lap. It took them 4.24 seconds to travel that initial 200 meters, which the LT skipped all together.
For rough comparison; if LT did the whole lap, its time would have been around what Zonda R did; 6:47.50 and not even close to NIO EP9's.
Zonda R --> 6:47.50 - 4.24 = 6:43.26
NIO EP9 --> 6:45.90 - 4.24 = 6:41.66
or
LT: 6:43.22 + 4.24 = 6:47.46 (4/100 of a second faster than Zonda R)
It really speaks volumes to what a monster Zonda R was/is; it set this record in 2010, and held it for 7 long years, which is an eternity in automotive world.
tropickman You do realize that the start and finish lines used in this video are the official timing points for lap record attempts??
Yeah but the reason why is that those cars are on SLICKS. The track start line for the ROAD cars is the one used in this video. Thats the difference. Road legal cars are allowed to start there. Or you can put full soft slicks on the P1LM and watch it go sub 6.25 mins.
Or you can just say the 956 is the fastest on the ring, since there are road going 956 in the world ... This "cheating" brings nothing IMHO anyway ... Who cares about 6pcs Nio EP9 or 5pcs P1 GTR LM? (yes, GTR, it's not a normal P1, but a GTR conversion). While it's a stretched statement, there is a possibility for a normal man to get a GT2 RS let's say ... which is the production car holding the record. Getting a car from the "road going" group is beyond the reality of 99.99999% of the humans, or better said, only 11 people out of some 7.5 billions have the 6 Nios and 5 LMs and none of them can achieve a time even close to the times achieved with cars similar to theirs (let's not pretend they owner will use, if ever, his/her car in same trim as the test car).
While it's nice to see production cars going for it, when some one-offs start to demand bragging rights it just goes wild ... Even production cars try to cheat (remember Lamborghini's time edit, with best times of all sections? Honda was a target too, since the Type-R in the video achieved speeds in the straights untouchable by stock cars and so on) ...
If we shall talk about THE record, then it belongs to Porsche and its 956. The road going car term is way too stretched I'd say and the cars in that category are always some one offs or 5-6 pcs of customized cars ...
So who needs this "road going" record? Probably only the YT comment section :D
That moment when you realize he has a map readout / gps on his center console.
talk about feeling like a video game.
hes got G sensors, shift lights. brake indicator etc..etc.. wow.
Danny iPwn that stuff comes from the race car to the videoga,e not the other way around
That was pretty sick, the P1 is a monster and driver was awesome
Balls, big balls! And integrated titanium parts, like a cyborg! Well done Mr. Kenny Bräck.
ep9 is still the record holder, you can't say you broke the record if you started from a different line which took the ep9 4 seconds to get to
ep9 is nothing. A Prototyp with no charging solution. Rubbish
Nio ep9 was on SLICKS so it does not count!!!
They use a different start line because road cars use that configuration. NON road cars (ie: cars on slicks: the EP9 and ZOnda R) use the slightly longer version. Also im fairly convinced without the antics of the Mystery Car on the Final straight, and the blunder at 1.49 it would have gone sub 6.40.

Says a few mods, but lists over 50.

‘Tis the joke
Lmao
Best video of Green Hell, I've seen. Could disern, elevation. Thanks
Nice work.
i checked the leaderboards and yeah this it the new lap record, i love McLarens especially this one, and im glad it has now set a new record
What is he doing on the final straight?
i think he push DRS like in formula 1
It looks like he's flashing his headlights at the car joining the track, who maybe doesn't realise he's doing a hot lap.
DRS most likely, notice how he starts gaining speed when pressing it.
offcourse
ferfire9
*Notice how he starts gaining speed when pressing the accelerator?*
20.6 km lanzante record vs. nio ep9 20.8 km
joel cruz it looks like they did the full lap of the 20.8km track. How/where did they run a 20.6km track? Also, I read somewhere that the Nio ep9 was on slicks?
I see what you mean about the distance.
Why do they start the lap from that road? Lamborghini did the same thing. The Zonda R started normal, as if it were a race lap.
joel cruz NIO record was on racing slicks the P1 wasnt
kalimul the lap in this video is the normal one that is commonly used since several years. By having the finish line some meters behind the start, that allows to finish the lap and enter pitlane. Otherwise, you would have to do an entire cool down lap (another 21 km), or having to reverse on the track, which may be prohibited, dunno. I even can imagine that the car may doesn't have enough fuel for a second lap... the fuel alarm should be lit if that was the case, but well...
Thank you @andy74b #hesentmehere
same haha
Unbelievable 🔥🔥🔥the driving skill was next level. How did this ever be an f1 circuit
A beautiful blend of car, driver and track!
Hey peloton25, i know you here :)
He's always there for everything McLaren haha
What is that ?

OK, at risk of some abuse, Mr Bellof's 6 minutes, 11.13 seconds set back in 1983 (Yes, that's 34 years ago) is a tad faster.
And before somebody rabbits on about production cars, I would argue they made a lot more 956's than this P1LM's.
People wont say production cars, they will say ROAD cars :)
Also i may be mistaken, but wasnt Bellof's lap a different configuration to this? (again i could be wrong)
You do realise there are 956's running about on the road don't you?
So, this P1 LM is a showroom roadcar is it?
I also believe that earlier record was on a shorter track. something to do with track renos being done at the time? so the comparison in invalid. anyway, comparing a 2017 car, designed to be registerable, and complying with a range of associated design rules, with a 35 year old space-frame le mans car, with giant aero and huge slicks, isnt very meaningful anyway.
Nor is is meaningful to say that there is a porsche 956 road registered somewhere. rules applying to registering historic or vintage cars are different to those which apply to new ones.
It was on the same track as they use now except back then they called it a shorter version because it had a straight where the GP track now is.
Moonstone Knight The track is the same track as used now. There was a straight in 1982 where the GP track currently is so they bypassed it by changing the track to the current track in 1983 (whilst the GP track was being built) so the track was shorter than in 1982 & previous but the same layout used now as they still bypass the GP track.
Wow, these vr graphics look amazing!
Lap times don't matter to me, I'd take the P1 over any other car because of it's sheer ferocity and power. Id want my multi-million dollar hyper to be a monster, not easy to drive.
Ryan Pavey huh. Guess you've never heard of the regera
*coughs* Koenigsegg
*cough* hennesy *cough*
Cough cough straight line garbage cough
That's an easy 6 :40 time if it was not for that mistake at 1:46 and the lift off at the end of the back straight
Basilis Kanaris definitely 4s in it...
Basilis Kanaris I noticed the same thing, he did too when he nodded his head after that turn.
he also loses the rear a bit . all accumulating to about 5 seconds. but the timer was started and stopped at different points so those seconds are void in consideration of potential.
Bo Huggabee 3 sec at most. Do you have any idea what 1 second feels like in a hypercar, on that track? 6:40 would be in-sane. 6:38 is suicide.
Dont worry. Porsche has already beaten that.
Well...porshe dosent have a car at that level they only have that lmp car and the 918 which is slower than this...the p1 gtr's competition is simply the fxxk and fxxk evo
Yeah because they built a Nurburgring car and not a race car.
@@mrmagoo-i2l I think an amr Aston Martin valkire when made could actualy give the 919 evo a challenge
Jude Pierre you sir are correct
@@adibbehroozitv6447 you checked?
It could be the best mclaren in tech, but it will never going to replace the piece of art from mclaren F1 LM.
Very smooth driving that's the key to this track and most don't understand if u over drive it's slower all about the flow and staying smooth no tire spin
FXXK's turn
IntentionHQ they're too busy sitting in show rooms plugged into a wall, you know just so they can be turned on then turned right back off...
Daniel it's not faster otherwise Ferrari would have lapped it ages ago
Kravence yeah I know, that's why I said that they're just sitting in their owners garages lol just look at how much people had to bug the people at Ferrari to actually track numbers on the LaFerrari before they finally said "Yes" lol They hate to be shown up that's why they'll never let an FXXK on The Ring
Daniel The LaFerrari can now be tested because it's out of production. Ferrari's rule is that if it's in production, it can't be tested in a comparison. For example, the LaFerrari was tested on the Grand Tour, but they didn't allow the 488 GTB to be timed on the same episode.
Kravence You never know, after watching videos from Alexander West, both the P1 GTR and LaFerrari FXXK seem close.
The P1 GTR and LaFerrari FXXK might be faster than the P1 LM because of slicks.
But I think they didn't want to lap it because of the Zonda R. It's weight advantage helps in corners.
only 5 P1 LM and they call this a "production" car? bs
Who called it a production car? You?
Went into production, but it's not on the extreme end of 'limited edition'. It's just limited in itself
All these petrolheads commenting here like they actually own a petrol vehicle or have done a lap at NurBurg! Hahahahaahah
uh, most people do own a car.
non-car people are not drawn to this kind of video, and believe it or not, there are more adults than kids on the internet.
Astonishing control and speed! Who was the driver!? Well done sir, you have our respect and admiration!!
Kenny Bräck, former Indy 500 winner...
............. Looked like a Nice Sunday Drive ... Nice and Smooth
Where are those of the Porsche 918? Since it appeared I said it P1!! I love this car!
The XP1LM is a non-series car, the 918 is a series car. Also, the XP1LM was not road legal during the record run.
Really? That exact car then drove all the way back to the UK. So im fairly certain it was road legal.
It wasn't during the record run. look it up
Im not going to look it up, it says in the video description dude. It did it on Trofeo Rs, they are road legal. They are track focused, but still road tyres. Hence it is road legal.
"During the final phases at Nurburgring Nordschleife, XP1LM achieved a fastest lap of 6.43.2. After setting this new lap record, the car then drove directly from Nurburgring back home to the UK."
dont tell me i'm wrong if you dont want to look up the facts... its not about the tyres, the car had no number plates during the record run --> not road legal. It even says so on wikipedia... ("Car was without front number plate and therefore not road legal during the run.")
Now if McLaren could only build F1 cars with this reliability... A McLaren F1 car would have a blown engine exiting the pits
Mclaren make better road cars than race cars. And ferrari is losing its edge a little bit
An f1 wouldn’t survive here because of the bumps
Beat 5:19
That was some seriously nice driving.
It's funny that to normal people this video is a very skilled driver in an amazing piece of machinery driving on a dangerous track. But to car guys this is literally the shit we think about 24/7. When we get in our cars to go to work, when we day dream, when we hop on RUclips and see videos like this we experience temporary nirvana. That twin turbo v8, that blow off valve, the occasional hint of turbo spool, and the orgasmic downshifts. All things car guys know, love, and live for.
He’s Australian.. someone told him the pub shuts in 10 minutes!
waynester71 someone told him the pub shuts in 7 :D
It is not road legal in Germany so it doesnt count actually.
The fastest road legal car is the GT2 RS. And this Porsche is allowed to Drive on german roads.
And of course it isnt a production car.
It seems to be roadlegal since the car drove itself back to the UK again...
GTR isnt a production car??
I your reffering to the P1, it is a production car. Only need 25 base units to be production car.
