Dude thank you so much. Was struggling for a while and got really frustrated, restarted PC, did all this stuff with settings and properties, FINALLY got the solution. What worked for me was switching the audio output from default to my headphones in the Adv. sound settings. TYSM saved me from rage lol
I fixed it by going into Advanced Sound Options and selecting, for Steam, Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio) as output. But more importantly the issue seems to be connected to another setting which you can easily miss. After you set the Output, go to Sound Control Panel and select your speakers or sound device that you use. Then click Properties, go to to Advanced tab, and uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device". It seems some games take exclusive control of the sound device and won't let SteamLink stream it to a TV, Other PC, Steam Link Hardware etc. So to recap: 1#: GO to Advanced Sound Options and select the output device for Steam - don't leave it on default - on most computers it's a Realtek Audio sound card, but on yours's it could be another like Creative, Intel etc. 2# Go to Sound Control Panel and select your main sound device, click properties, go to Advanced Tab, and uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control on this device Now it should be fixed :)
Were getting annoyed today with no sound in some games in Steam. But I found the problem. It were not HD problems, or games that need to be verified. But I have a DAC connected to my computer. And some games in Steam can't handle sound quality above 192 khz if you have a DAC or high-end soundcard. The 192 khz setting is fine, but the last ones on 352800 hz, and 384000 hz, no sound comes out when playing most games in Steam. Thanks from Krusty in Denmark
For someone who tried everything and still not work. Go to your steam setting> Remote play> Advance Host option> tick on play audio on host. That fix it for me.
quick note! some source games like tf2 may have no sound because you are using the wrong speaker! if you have headphones adjust it, same with PC speakers too
Another recommendation is to remove any USB hub that you're connecting to. Test connecting directly to pc. If it works there, then work your way up until you find the culprit. Most likely the hub or monitor USB port.

If nothing works activate GPU scaling in the graphics card control panel. Works if you pass sound with HDMI, at least in kotor 1&2. Make sure to set sound quality to 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD quality) in windows sound setup.
None of this worked for me. Is there any other methods? Also when i verify integrity files it says “2 files failed to validate and will be reaquired” Don’t know if that means anything

After swapping my mainboard and cpu and cpu fan but keeping everything else even my installed windows on ssd. The only solution for me was the app volume and device preferences. I had EarTrumpet installed but that never showed up any steam games. So this video saved me from reinstalling windows. No other website mentioned this feature.
i have another fix for you guys: whenever i turned on the stream, my audio device would change on my host pc to "steam streaming speakers"this caused my stream to not have any sound. You have to go to your host pc and turn this audio device off so i cant turn it self on as main audio device.
I only have sound issues with Fallout 76, (PC) that is why I watched this video, hoping for something that would fix my issue, but sadly this video offered nothing new compared to the others. You mention near the end of your video "Then your hardware might be faulty" but you failed to mention, that in some cases, the Software is the problem, as it is with Fallout 76. RUclips Videos work fine (therefore it's not a hardware issue), so do other games on Steam, it's just Fallout 76 that doesn't & I have recently (in the last 5 days) done a reinstall of Windows & also all my Steam Games. The really weird thing, is that the sound works for Fallout 76 at the very beginning during the Cinematic Mode/Introduction, however there is no in-game sound, not even at the Atomic Store, I have checked the settings & everything is set to default, other than changing Voice Chat to Team, which someone else suggested, but it made no difference for me.
Still having issues; Trying to launch Terraria on steam but there is no sound and it doesn't appear on the Sound Mixer, even though its opening fine. Followed every step and still having this issue.

For me, the problem isnt with games, its when I open the steam app or when I am opening a game that is installed on steam, it just mutes my audio and as soon as I click onto something that isnt steam it unmutes, and if I click back into steam and click the screen it mutes again. IDK what wrong because theres not a single video on my problem. Its happens only with steam :/
i think this video was informational but my problem hasn't been resolved and i have one steam game with no sound issue and i haven't play it since October of this year and i found out that the sound is goes through my controller when i plugged in my headphones in it but not onpc where i have my headphones plugged in.
@@kyromxiq545 Nope. It has actually gotten worse now. No sound whatsoever 🤔. I uninstalled the whole game and reinstalled, disabled/removed mods, did the verify game files option, edited the .ini files, tried to use a sound mod, nothing works.

This fixed my issue!!!!! Seems that Windows really wants to make things difficult for Sony users. ugh.. My problem is with my games is that when I’m playing my games the audio will be there, then like 15 seconds later the audio will slowly get lower till i can’t hear anything unless i move around hit or shoot something/someone. Has anyone else had this issue??
Yeah me too, I just got my new laptop today and time I go play a game on steam it plays audio nice and well until I go into a match its just all glitchy and buggy sounding and it doesn't stop until I exited out the game
It happened to me after using steamlink on my phone, the sound was playing fine through my phone while connected, but after i disconnected everything and reloaded the game, the sound completely disappeared. I reloaded again but still nothing, I'm trying to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling because I'll have to reapply all my mods and that'd take ages since i have 140+ mods. I have also deactivated certain mods to see if thatd do anything but it didn't lol

Guys before you do all of this and it feels like your head is going to explode, try doing this first: Go into advanced sound options in the settings tab > Start Black Ops 3 or whatever game you are having issues with > once black ops 3 appears in the settings tab, add one of the devices you can use, click on what headset you are using at that moment. > Voila! problem solved. hope this helps you all and don't have to go through thee headache like I had to.
Dude steam link did something I can’t hear any sound from my pc but only when I play through steam link I restarted my computer it still has this issue it’s somthing with steam or steam link please I just want to hear in my game 😢

If you're playing on Xbox One and you don't have any sound then disconnect your Xbox power cord and plug it back in. That's the only thing that fixed it for me.

My issue was being able to listen to RUclips videos but not my game sound. The verifying the integrity of my files fixed my issue. Thank you.

Did you ever fix it? I had this problem with "Apex Legends" but the problem fixed on its own somehow; and now im having it with black ops 3. :/

fix! Right click on sound -> Spatial sound(Windows Sonic for Headphones) -> Windows Sonic for HeadPhones (enable)

Have you tried changing the audio settings in-game? Your default device might not be the one you want to use.
