it's such a shame because they could've done something with her lack of money, the way she hid it from her friends could've been a good developer for her character :(
Exactly maybe if she was shown as an obsessive gf who only wanted him for fame and accused him of cheating when he actually wasn't THEN it would make sense to me. It would also show her as a more dynamic character that could change.

@ 20:31 when addison’s character is saying the guy must miss his mom a lot, she’s delivering the line almost like a villain, as if her evil plans killed the mom years ago, and he’s come to get justice, and now addison is mocking him after she’s slapped him to the ground.
Casting Addison as the lead instead of the mean girl antagonist was the first mistake this movie made. She would have made the perfect queen bee villain character, with the fake sincerity and the whole no emotions vibe. They could have still made her an influencer but played it up like a dramatic version of herself. Would have been an easier but still important starter role. The lead should have been more of a girl next door vibe. Still super popular, class president, and dance team captain but because her family has connections in Hollywood she's also known in the influencer world. The bet could have been about her doing the makeover as a way to prove she's not just her family's name to her friends but she learns along the way that you can influence people in a multitude of ways. I've seen a lot of comments saying that Addison's acting is not bad and the movie is quite okay, and it just makes me wonder how we have set the bar so low in the content we consum (movies, music, etc)
Maybe they believe it's not that bad because the whole influencer character she was playing was just herself. But honestly, when a scene is emotionally demanding you clearly she's lacking. Like when the dude tells her his mom is death and she shows no emotion at all, etc. You see various scenes where she's supposed to show some kind of emotion(sadness, anger, disappointment, anything except from her usual joyful influencer persona) she immediately falls flat. It's sadly very noticeable.

The actor stars in “Cobra Kai” so naturally, they had to show off his abilities…why they had the montage at the beginning is beyond me. Maybe that’s the writers idea of character development.
It seems like the audio from the start of the karaoke scene (w Addison singing) to 17:09 is gone, with no subtitles or anything to indicate even what you are saying. Not sure if this is a copyright issue or just my own device, but it’s been a problem that’s happened every time I watch this video. Just thought I’d comment to let you know if you ever see this 😅

I don’t know if you knew, but when you mentioned “Not Another Teen Movie”, the majority of the plot was a parody of the og “She’s All That” so it made me laugh like EXACTLY. Also, the person playing the mom was the the main character (Laney) in the original Geek Charming was so much better as a book🥺😭

I low-key feel as though this movie is almost a little more sexist than the original She's All That? Or maybe it's that they're both engaging with different forms of sexism, I don't know, but I feel as though the final message of the movie being "hey, a young girl wearing makeup, and caring about fashion is FAKE." is almost just as bad as the original more or less vilifying Laney's interests/attitudes. The original from what I remember kinda pokes fun at Laney for being politically mindful, at one point she makes reference to how she watches CNN and that's why she's concerned about beach conservation/pollution(I could be misremembering, it's the part where they're on the beach), but the movie sorta frames it as Laney being a square. That being said, the original still frames Laney as a caring, multidimensional person, and ultimately places her as being the positive influence on Zack's life, to find his own path/be his own man and not who his dad wants him to be. The dude in this is rude and low-key misogynistic, just the way he thinks women wearing makeup/caring about fashion as not worthwhile or as fake speaks volumes. The movie ends with the guy in the story being somehow right about his preconceived worldview on femininity, and the female lead more or less saying he was right/that she is vapid, and "fake" was odd to me because the original I don't think was trying to say Zack was fake, but that he didn't even know what kind of person he wanted to be. It's very strange, it's almost as if the only thing they thought was wrong about She's All That was the makeover scene of Laney, so they swapped the genders and called it a day. (Not to mention that at least the original has pretty solid acting, and it's a fun watch. This movie was just boring)
I def agree with u the original although it was misogynistic at times and had some problems was ( and still kinda is) a really fun movie to watch. He’s all that is just bad :/
@@emmadikic386 yeah, the original is definitely not perfect cinema, and it’s probably one of the more competent Robert Iscove movies I’ve seen, but it’s def fun! It’s just odd how this movie is basically paint by numbers the same as the original, they didn’t try at all to change it up! They kept it the same down to the Pagent/Zack character needing to have that lesson learned moment, even though the whole time you think that’s going to be the Cameron/Laney character. It’s been said by others, but you can tell they only made this to bolster Addison Rae’s career/to make money. It’s very disingenuous, both in its intentions and in Addison’s acting in any scene that requires an emotion other than happiness. 😬
I really agree! I hate how this was supposed to be a feminist spin on the original but wound up being all about the guy and put him on a weird pedestal even though he was an ass :/ it felt like a weird male fantasy
Also, the writer is a man, the same one who wrote the first one but 25 years later and it shows. He was misogynistic then, and he is now. Not only that, he seems to have learnt nothing the past 25 years about what femininity or masculinity can actually be. It’s just disappointing seeing the same older people, and men in particular, trying to get on with the trends and not understanding the real problems in the first place. Edit: Thought it was the same director, but it's the same writer.
@@darkypiemotica the writer was the same but the director is actually some other guy! He directed the spider wick chronicles which is really upsetting cuz I used to love that movie :/

That scene when she was on the phone saying, "The only thing I care about losing.... is your brother" was giving me MAD Get Out vibes. When the girlfriend is on the phone with Chris' friend and is faking being worried about him. Just so freaky 😂
The "Then that really breaks my heart" line was probably the worst throughout the movie acting wise 😭 she was so monotone. I feel like a pouting 5 year old could deliver the line better idk! I just feel like Addison's acting in this movie consisted of smiling overly big, shaking her head a lot, and pouting in a low monotone voice, plus a lot of forehead scrunching.
I literally just finished Dylan's commentary as soon as you posted 😂 Edit: withcindy said the same thing about him taking pictures of that man in the train station 🤣
I love the fact that Trin made fun of Tanner (Cameron's actor) thinkign that he was good at martial arts, having no idea he is a main character in cobra kai. I find it hilarious
Same, and the fact Tanner has done martial art since before he started acting. He is actually pretty good at fighting, idk why the movie did him so dirty😭🤚
Fun fact. The main male character in he’s all that, is also from girl meets world. He’s Charlie Gardner, the guy who “took” Riley from Lucas. So it’s like a parallel that the two actors are still fighting over the main girl
Literally every scene where that "Carried Away" song plays looks and feels like a perfume/cologne commercial. I've never seen a background song play that loudly and completely overshadow whatever is happening onscreen like this in any film before. When Cameron walks out in his suit, you could so easily put a voice-over saying, "A new fragrance for men: Dolce and Gabbana" and it would work so much better than it does here.
addison's acting had me deadass cringing throughout the movie. i literally could not like why? edit: the replies are saying they’ve seen me everywhere, my famous era is here 🥰✨
Can't believe they got the original actress to play her mom but they didn't make any reference to the original other than that, like the main characters actually have growth in the original as opposed to his where they don't really change much aside from appearance.

THEY SHOULDVE ADDED A JUMPSCARE WARNING WHEN THAT WHOLE DANCE SCENE AT THE END HAPPENED PLEASE
They should have done a jumpscare at the start for Addison Rae
Teens also have really low standards to be fair lmao
@@athenajaxon2397 yes you're right, but I feel like as a society we're enabling them to continue with their low standards instead of showing them something better 🤷
@@mj_romero4687 I think good stuff does exist but the bad stuff gets noticed more unfortunately like Booksmart is a great teen comedy but didn't get the same hype that this movie got because it was actually good
@@athenajaxon2397 totally and unfortunately it happens a lot in the entertainement industry, they care more about gaining money (like using an influencer so their millions of followers will watch the movie and defend it and get a sequel) than putting effort into what they're giving to the teenagers
i went on tiktok and there were so many people saying the movie isn’t bad and her acting is good, i was concerned for them
Aka my cousin sometimes people scare me
That’s all the comments I’m seeing too and I’m so confused
I guess this is the cue to leave TikTok 🤣
omg “the only reason people hate this movie is bc addison rae is in it”
like yeah she cant act pls😭
To be fair, it's not a BAD movie per se. Just incredibly mediocre. It's definitely better than The Kissing Booth (not that that's an accomplishment).
we don't only want a geek charming commentary, we DEMAND one
DEMAND
Fr tho, first video I see of her and I had to subscribe
okay, but can we talk about Trin's outfit for this video because she looks FABULOUS
the fact that her impressions of their acting is better than the actual acting says a lot
Her smile throughout the movie is unsettling. Even more so than her monotone delivery of every line, especially the “emotional” ones.
I honestly just feel like adults have no idea how to write the modern teenager and that's why I just can't bear to watch these films (kissing booth, etc) It all just comes out so cringeworthy and it's really disappointing. Idk, just seems like people can't make a decent teen rom-com type film anymore
To be fair The Kissing Booth book was written by an actual 15 year old lmao
@@athenajaxon2397 but it was adapted by most likely people in the 30s
hmm, ya know i thought that too but weren't movies like mean girls, clueless, 10 things I hate about you etc. all written by adults? I'm just tryna figure out where the disconnect now is bc it seems like they can't get with the times.. it's pretty sad
oh wait... little update: this movie was written by a man in his 50s which might explain why it didn't connect well with ppl whereas the movies I mentioned above were all written by women (I'm assuming who were in their late 20s? early 30s at the time idk)
Love that there's a chunk of audio removed bc of copyright 😭
I haven't seen Trin's content in a while so this is the first video I've seen in about a year. She's improved so much! Love to hear her alternatives and "what-ifs." Also funny as hell!
"you have full control... **whore**" I spluttered. Like, this feels so out of character for Trin to just be blurting this out :')
Trin said I am giving up feminism for 5 seconds abdbxhsjdjx lmao
I love how bc Trin hasn’t seen She’s All That, she doesn’t realize the main premise of Not Another Teen Movie is making fun of the plot of She’s All That
i want a makeover movie w the popular girl "helping" the nerd boy and then realizing she isnt in love w him but in love w one of the girls in her mean girl group or a nerd girl and they kiss and they dont need the guy
I love when Trin stands, so we can see her entire outfit. It is soooooo cute in this video.
I lIVE for the way Trin does her commentaries. Just so direct. "I wonder if the director is proud of this" LOL
He or she probably needed money 😂
If dude can fight with his hands behind his back why did we go through a montage of him getting beaten up by the same dude?
Obviously to show that he's a pacifist
The actor stars in “Cobra Kai” so naturally, they had to show off his abilities…why they had the montage at the beginning is beyond me. Maybe that’s the writers idea of character development.
I said the same thing.
he's just playing, reminding those douche that they're assholes but then Jordan hit on his sister then that's a different story.
😦

It seems like the audio from the start of the karaoke scene (w Addison singing) to 17:09 is gone, with no subtitles or anything to indicate even what you are saying. Not sure if this is a copyright issue or just my own device, but it’s been a problem that’s happened every time I watch this video. Just thought I’d comment to let you know if you ever see this 😅
She’s like “I like you” let’s change everything about your physical appearance!
I honestly wouldn’t be that shocked if they added that fight scene after they cast him lol. His fight scenes in Cobra Kai are always the best, they could’ve given him a little more
I love your Pfp, I love Stephanie Brown
They definitely did
yeah i think it's the only scene i like in the movie 😭

I don’t know if you knew, but when you mentioned “Not Another Teen Movie”, the majority of the plot was a parody of the og “She’s All That” so it made me laugh like EXACTLY. Also, the person playing the mom was the the main character (Laney) in the original
Geek Charming was so much better as a book🥺😭
thank YOU for the “bet” montage that is such a key scene and they DROPPED THE BALL

Her mascara is different and nice here. Also there's a moment that she dances for the ray-cons and looks awesome for about 1 second of dancing lol.
The dress is both flattering and awesome.
The crying scene Trin did at 30min was better acting than the whole movie 😭
Me waiting for Trin to say “it should’ve been sapphic” bc that would’ve been more fun I think. And it still could’ve been called She’s All That
"She has glasses, a pony tail, AND paint on her overalls!
She could. NEVER be Prom Queen!"

Some of us had Zac and Vanessa, Demi and Joe....and new generations have Addison and Tanner. Love that for them.

The way Netflix should’ve changed the genre from romance to horror 😭
🤣🤣🤣
it could have started out as a romantic comedy but then it turns into a horror movie near the ending or something

Trin, when you started talking about Not Another Teen Movie after saying you haven’t seen She’s All That and can’t compare it to He’s All That had me in hysterical tears… the fact NATM is parodying She’s All That in the specific thing you are REFERENCING AHHH oh my god

Same, and the fact Tanner has done martial art since before he started acting. He is actually pretty good at fighting, idk why the movie did him so dirty😭🤚
They should've had him use karate in the montage scene after he says he's a pacifist for character continuity smh
"Addison looks like she's in her 20's" that's because she is trin😂😂
Lmao you’re definitely not wrong
