Po and the Five are ride or die. Not having them really hurts that.
Damn spoiler but they’re really not in the movie??
@@tmac731 I mean they’re not in any of the promotional material, and James even mentions that they’re not in the movie so I’m gonna assume not.

I still HATE the "made for kids" argument. Kids deserve good content as well
Fr . For example puss and boots the last wish was made for kids but I loved it. The Lego movie was made for kids I loved it. It could be good if it wanted to be
ATLA is for "kids" but is one of the best animated series ever
Yet, oddly enough, wanna know what you have in common with kids? Sounding ungrateful; Just be happy with what you got.
@@rampagephoenix1735 just because you aren't smarter than a fifth grader doesn't mean you should have sht taste as well 😂
They made two top tier kids movies and one decent one. Trying to milk the franchise with a sub par fourth one and using "made for kids" as an excuse doesnt hold up at this point.
What dirt does Awkwafina have on the industry to keep getting roles
When things are down and you feel like you're getting buried, you're actually getting planted - Awkwafina
Ikr, I don't like her in any animation because she plays the same shtick every time
Hollywood does that shit with certain actors and actresses and it drives me up the fucking wall when they do that
The same thing Kathleen Kennedy has to keep her job as president of a studio even though it is obvious that she is going down in history as the worst studio executive in Hollywood of all time. Probably dirty laundry on some higher ups that allow for them to be pushed forward.
The Bad Guys she is great though.
Kung Fu Panda & Kung Fu Panda 2 will always be the best ones of the trilogy

@@MrDingDongPong That's what I'm saying if you can't afford to bring in the same talent that made the franchise what it is, why do it at ll?
They don't really do much. Like Jackie chan has 2 lines in the first movie.
@@bryzantine1571 They are the main supporting cast, I wont see a kungfu panda movie without them. Plus its just inconsistent.
It’s terrible how they’re only mentioned early on in the movies with their “special” missions and only appeared during the credits scene where they train Zhen in the Jade palace. They keep wasting the Furious five for 2 consecutive movies. At least Tigress was somewhat prominent in the 3rd film.
Oooh, with the Five not even in the movie, i may just wait until it streams.
Always felt the 5 balanced out Po's quirks.
Totally agree. When I heard they are not at all in it, I decided im not seeing it in theaters. 90 minutes of Akwafina without the Five... its a no from me, dawg

The Five were replaced with... Awkwafina. I've heard what I need to hear.
Seriously whats peoples problem with her. Her role was actually one of the better parts of the film.
I get if you don't like her style of comedy (I don't even know what that is). But she is simply voicing a character. If you can't make that separation between actor and fictional character. Maybe you should go get check out.
@@jackbruno953 It's because she is a talentless hack that voices the exact same character in every movie. She has zero range as an actor. Having a nail on chalkboard voice makes it 1000 times worse. Her voice is disliked by most people for very good reason.

Would it be less predictable if he had to choose from the Furious Five? I think most people would agree Tigress deserves that spot far beyond the other 4 friends.
If anything they should pf just gone with her and po as the new duo.
I think they are plenty ways to make things less predictable. I like the idea with Tigress even she allw. aimed to be DW, now being pulled in different direction, maybe there is neigh. region devastated by war or elements and there are kids in need of help. Main plot would still be sim. to this, but with DW choice - in the end she is chosen, or about to be chosen, but SHE rejects it finally accepting fully that DW path isnt for her and she end up raising abandoned kids in new orphanage as their "mom"/kung fu master and teacher. Since she was orphan raised in this way it would be nice full circle. Others from F5 would need to replace her in team and new person could be potent. next DW in future, or maybe they have new path before them too(F5).

How Akwafina has a career is one of the great mysteries of the universe. Like, The Great Pyramids, The Bermuda Triangle, or, how Star Trek Discovery got 5 seasons.
Awkwafina knows where some bodies are buried. It's the only plausible explanation on how she keeps getting roles in major films.
So, essentially, we're getting the same level of effort from Awkwafina's voice acting that we got for _Raya and the Last Dragon._
Which was basically none existant.
Well... at least, you got to give her that: she has one hell of an agent!
She annoys me so much.
I actually may not see this movie just so I don't have those awful sounds that come from her face.
Nothing against her personally, but as a performer...
That's a shame, because I really liked when she was cast against type in The Farewell. Less annoying and more of a subtle performance that's easy and heartfelt to watch. Although the one time I found her really funny was in Crazy Rich Asians and that's pretty much it
Raya was one of the handful of movies I skipped forward about 3/4 of it. So bad
The little mermaid remake? THE HORROR!!!
@@4deleDaz33mShe does great in roles when she actually has to play an Asian. And not a wannabe black person from the streets.

There have been like 5 Kung Fu Panda spinoff shows, from nickelodeon and netflix, made during and after the trilogy. Theyve been milking the IP for years, most people dont know that because the shows were not as popular as the movies and flew under the radar.
Five?! I thought there was literally just the one!
Legends of Awesomeness is the only good one-

Chris Pratt gets too much hate in my opinion. He’s everywhere but (don’t get me wrong awkwafina is a great person) he has a better voice personally
Just because she is in this is an automatic no watch for me. Also Pratt can act. Akardfina can't.

3. Kung fu panda 3

TS4 didnt justify its existence in my opinion
Toy Story 4 just messed up the story in my opinion. It undid the themes of all of the other films.
I still think the first Kung Fu Panda movie is the best, has the best feel and balance.
Kung Fu Panda 2, does have the best villain, tho I wish we had a longer fight between him and Po.
The fact that Gary Oldman voiced the villain in part 2 says a lot. @@danielmedjedovic7068
I gotta rank it: 2, 1, 3, (haven’t seen the 4th yet) but 2 was so emotionally impactful to me. Po’s arc of moving through what he felt he lost and coming out the other side of it is incredible.
Feels like such an obvious missed opportunity to not use Tai Lung as the antagonist and eventual Dragon Warrior replacement.
Seriously, it would thematically align with how Tai Lung was promised something he wasn’t meant to have and then earned it through using his skills for the greater good.
Wow. This movie already doesn’t exist for me but your ending is exactly what the 4th would be and I’m gunna pretend that it is. 😊
@alexman378 Honestly it would have worked better coming full circle. Tai Lung being the first victim of Chameleon and having to retrain under Po and Shifu would have been interesting. Then him fully coming to terms what he had done helps Po beat Chameleon. Before he trained to become the DW, but this time he trains to beat a villain for good. He gets to reunite with Shifu before he dies.
Really disappointed he didn’t have a much bigger role in the film. I kinda liked what they did with him in the end recognizing Po as the Dragon Warrior but I wished we got to see more of him and a full on redemption arc of him realizing that rather than just have it be one scene.
@@gabrielcarrasco9078 Of every villain I would've not mind seeing get an arc, or being in 2 films. Tai Lung is right there. He could've had a redemption arc since most of his story already is compelling, and the fact they had the chance to connect it with this film's story and they did feels like a wasted opportunity. A villain who acknowledges his dream will never happen, but is willing to go his own way since things have changed would've been a amazing set up for him
Wouldn’t it have made sense if one of the Furious Five members became the next Dragon Warrior?
Yeah, why couldn't they have had Po choose between the Furious Five? Though we all know he'd pick Tigress to be his successor, and she'd be the perfect successor.
@@daniellavaladez7820 💯💯💯
@@daniellavaladez7820 plot twist; who said there can be only one dragon warrior? by the end of the movie Po realizes they all are different, but perfect fits and they become dragon warriors together.
@@daniellavaladez7820
If you understood why Oogway chose Po as the Dragon warrior, would you even have typed this question?
Btw I haven't seen the Kfp4 movie so don't spoil pls.
Tigris should became the new shifu
Tai Lung should of became the new dragon warrior
Wolf girl becomes part of the new F five
The other four of the orginal F 5 become teachers to new warriors on other parts of the land of China.
Not having the five part of an actually pretty important and world changing story with Po is insane for 3 films. The dragon warrior is something both the five have to overcome they weren’t destined for and Po excepted as his mission. Now to pass that on and ascend to a higher position as the Five’s new master is oozing of a good story. Plus bringing in every past villain and going to a crime filled city. I would also keep zhen, only as a red herring because the obvious choice would be tigress by this point in the story. Especially if she goes through some new changes
I liked the Kungfu Panda trilogy overall, when the trailer dropped and the Furious Five were not mentioned... it indicated that there wasn't really a story to tell with this 4th installment. There were so many little story threads that could have been embellished upon especially with the Five. Almost wonder if they saw Puss in Boots Last Wish and tried to badly copy it
The funny thing is they MADE Puss in Boots 2. I guess the writers were already on strike when they made this one. 🤷♂️
the second Puss in Boots was such a great improvement over the first, childish movie.
@@benzaiten933That’s a little harsh. The first Puss in Boots is a genuinely great movie with an entertaining villain in Humpty Dumpty. It’s not childish at all.
@@OkayYaramanThe writers for Puss and Boots 2 and KFP 4 are two different people. In these movies its all about the writing. Writing and good directing are what make a movie good.
If I was at Dreamworks, I would had made Tigress father the next Kung Fu Panda villain who awakens a demon dragon who causes chaos, Po needs help from everyone including spirits, and so Tai Lung gets his redemption by helping Po.
Bro I actually thought a tiger villain would be sick too bro
I know right, yeah! We could also have like a evil furious five team of Tigers (bengali tiger, siberian tiger, white tiger, javan tiger and chinese tiger)
Already so much better of a story. And it’s emotional and keep the 5 in the story. The 5 were some of the best parts. To be replaced by Awkwafina? Seriously?
That's cool
I would've wanted the villain for the fourth movie to have a connection with the Furious Five or atleast one of them. In the first movie, Tai Lung had a beef with Shifu, then Lord Shen had a beef with Po, and lastly Kai had a beef with Oogway. It's weird to not follow that with the villain having a connection with the Furious Five

KFP1 and especially 2 had a big impact on me as a child. They didn't talk down to the younger audience and had well-examined themes about trauma, abuse, found family, and not allowing your past to define you. They had so much heart and were genuinely funny. And there was even a dose of philosophy to boot! I had just been diagnosed with OCD around the time that Kung Fu Panda 2 released and was having major anxiety attacks almost every day. For 12 year old me it felt like the nightmare would never end, and that this was just the way I was going to feel for the rest of my life. When we went to go see KFP2 in theaters and the opening scene in which Shifu tells Po about inner-peace and overcoming great trauma and hardship, it gave me such an immense sense of hope that my suffering was part of a path to something better; a reprieve was on its way, I only needed to let myself work towards it. Then obviously the rest of the film dives even deeper into this concept and it wrapped up so wonderfully. There were also some issues going on with my father that would ultimately culminate in his abandoning of my family, and while this had yet to happen when we first saw the film, the ending with Po and Mr. Ping spoke to me in a way I now look back upon very fondly. It still makes me tear up to this day.
I didn't like 3 very much and I don't expect to like this one, but those first 2 will always be some of my favorite films.
Truth, yo. KFP 1 and 2 have the best trilogy behind it.

Man, Awkwafina is just not a good voice actor. And yet, she keeps on getting these voice acting roles which really don't suit her. There are so many good voice actors out there who just need a chance to shine but the job has to go to a somewhat known "actor" who sucks at voice acting
perhaps it's name-recognition? there are many great, but vastly unknown VA actors out there. but instead of giving the role to a capable VA, they rather give it to a name which'll look good on the posters.
@@benzaiten933 while that's probably the case for most of these high profile castings (Chris Pratt as Mario and Patrick Stewart in the godawful emoji movie), Awkwafina isn't even an A-lister actor who can pull crowds in a live action movie, let alone an animated one. i like the idea of choosing between the 5 but we all know he'd just choose tigress lmfao
Nah, how cool would it be if this movie was about the breaking of the Furious 5. Maybe Tigress is ready to settle down and retire from Kung Fu, so Po is forced to choose from the rest of the 4 (all of which are reluctant to become the dragon warrior) The chameleon kills Monkey, leaving Crane, Viper, and Mantis to avenge him.
Mantis is too overcome with rage and emotion at his best friend's death, Crane is too gentle, so Po senses that Viper is the destined successor. She isn't so sure, she doesn't even have hands. The chameleon also senses great power in Viper and messes with her mind, reptile to reptile, to get her to give up the fight. In the climax of the film, Viper stumbles upon the source of the chameleon's ancient power. She masters it herself and transforms into an actual dragon. She defeats chameleon, becomes the dragon warrior, and stays in dragon form, committing herself to watching over the valley of peace as it's prime protector. Po resides in the Jade Palace as the spiritual ruler. Mantis and crane go off on Kung Fu missions in faraway lands. The end.

@@aetriandimitri190 That would be cool too. I feel like whoever it is has to transform into a dragon at the end in order for the audience to accept that they are more powerful than Po. I figured a snake was already pretty close to a dragon, and Viper was also pretty meek like Crane.

By the 3rd movie the quality was already sorta starting to dip, but KFP4 is a straight cash grab. MR. PING
I love you too, son.
[They continue to embrace... and then Mr. Ping leaps out of Po's arms and examines the radish crates.]
MR. PING
Ahhh! Delicious, fat radishes! [He picks up one of the baskets and begins to take it to the kitchen.] You're probably hungry, let me make you something to eat!
PO
What are you talking about? I'll cook! [He picks up the other basket and follows, patting the pig child on the head as he passes.]
MR. PING
No, I'll cook.
PO
Dad...
MR. PING
It's the least I can do, you saved China.
PO
It's the least I can do, you raised me.
[As he says this, he pulls his childhood toy from the basket and balances it on top.]
MR. PING
Po...
PO
Dad...
MR. PING
Po...
PO
Okay, let's both cook together.
MR. PING
Together... no, I'll cook!
[They laugh as they step inside the kitchen. The camera zooms out the restaurant, above the village, over the Valley of Peace, and then swiftly zooms across the landscape, stopping in the mountains far away from the valley. In a little shrine-like structure, a circular shape enshrouded in a green robe sits. The shape suddenly stands up, and is revealed to be a male panda.]
PO'S FATHER
My son is alive...
[He steps out of the shrine and looks down upon a small farming village, which is populated by pandas just like himself. The pandas below catch his gaze.]

I remember the scene that convinced me to sit down and watch the original Kung-Fu Panda. I think I was in a doctor's office or something, they had the movie on, they were at the part where Master Sifu is completing Po's training. They sit down at a table, Sifu pops open a tray of steamed buns, tells Po, "You may eat." Po tries to take one, Sifu snaps it up, scarfs it down, says, "I said, 'you may eat.'" And Po's all like "Can I?" - to which Sifu replies, "CAN YOU!?" And they throw down for the last bun. You've seen it, you know.
And that's what made those films special. A great martial arts film is one that actually digs into the philosophy behind the kicks and punches - it's all in the mind, right? 😉 But seriously though, the audience walks out of a good kung-fu film not only entertained, but perhaps even enlightened. If the film fails in that regard, it fails entirely.
The second movie was definitely the best in terms of animation, storytelling, and twists. Definitely lessons in that one for adults and kids.
Aquafina and not having the 5? I'm good lol
I can never take the name aquafina seriously. Im not even sure who she is but ive heard the name a couple times and gosh it sounds dumb
She sounds just as annoying sadly
I love the Kung Fu Panda Series! Great review. I am curious if you will do one for Cabrini that also came out today?
"A good night's sleep" is one of my favorite weekend activities!
Kung fu panda 2 was the best . And for the love of god can we black list Awkwafina from voice acting animated movies
Can we blacklist her from acting period
I believe the Five are missing for budgetary reasons. This film has a much much smaller budget than previous films in the series.
Yeah, i just got back from the movie just an hour ago and this time around. The cast was rather limited. Not too many big names, witch i understand for budgetary reasons. I mean, a LOT of the characters have been voiced by big name actors and actresses. I really enjoyed the film though and plan on seeing it again. Also Awkwafina at least to me, did a great job as Zhen, the corsac fox. Yeah, i get folks' complaints about her playing the same character with every role she gets. With a few exceptions here and there. But i have to say, she didn't come across as annoying this time around. But that's just me.
@@nelsonguerrero1952 i really enjoyed it as well and I hope that in doing well Universal will reallocate resources to the next one so they can really knock it out of the park with number 5.
Jeremy, great review!! For years now, you only review new movies, but even though you reviewed 'The Terminator - 1984' and 'Taken - 2008', please please could you do 'Predator - 1987'!! I would really appreciate it!!
LET ME GUESS! Awkwafina character becomes the new Dragon Warrior...
Surprise lol
Probably. We won't know until Friday morning when people spoil it
@@Art-X-W My theater got it Thursday lol
@Chocokaylarobin What's crazy is that some youtubers see it on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and straight spoil everything on Thursday. Social media sort of ruined the hype of films. Before seeing a movie trailer on the big screen was huge because there wasn't youtube back then.
@@Art-X-W It's crazy how they get to see it so early 😭 plus i feel people have their own options on it if they just watch it lol
It’s international women’s day! Let’s hear what u think of Cabrini!
I didnt know the sidekick was played by Aquafina...so the second he said that...my heart sank man 😭 movie is trash off tops 😭🤣
Same here
Auqafina, means the DEI reaper has visited.
I just got back from this film yesterday and i loved it for what it was. However, i get the complaints and folks' gripes with it for numbers of good reasons. But for the record jeremy and folks that didn't know this. But this Kung Fu Panda was always intended to be a six film series, as stated by Dreamworks' CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg back in 2010. So a 4th installment was gonna happen eventually. Another thing to note is that Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Director of the second and third films quoted saying that "Always saw the series as a trilogy, but was open for a fourth installment as long as the franchise focused on Po.".
Now sadly, she and some of the staff, i would assume that worked on the first three were not asked to return. Thus having a new director, Mike Mitchell who worked on the first trilogy. Was gonna have a change in tone and pacing. Witch was my nitpick, cause the first three had a consistent tone with having times to take breathers in between fights. Even though i ended up loving it and was entertained. Loved the action and new animation style keeping in tone with the first three. I liked Awkwafina as Zhen and her story of becoming the next Dragon Warrior. So far when it comes to her playing the same character, annoyingly enough. At the very least, was not to me this time around. So Zhen, Sisu and Webs/Mrs.Tarantula are my exemptions so far. I know folks prefer the candidates that most are thinking about. But, we must remember that these stories are about po and accession to becoming some greater with every trial he faces.
But that's my two cents on the film and i can't wait for the final two. Though, if Zhen's to be next Dragon Warrior. She's got some BIG shoes to fill. Plus, i think it would be great to see her bond with our favorite characters in the next films and maybe some possible spinoffs to fill the gaps between films and be canon. But any rate, i enjoyed Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024) and plan on seeing it again.
The Kung Fu Panda movies are a fun time. I'm more impressed that you're a Glenlivet Man. (Glenlivet 15 at that!)
Thanks for the channel and CHEERS!
Are you going to do a review of Cabrini? I saw a preview of it and its' pretty great.
Man, I was really hoping hoping this wasn’t gonna be yet another unnecessary bad sequel that tarnishes a franchise like Toy Story 4 and almost everything else coming out of Hollywood these days, especially after Dreamworks just had a good sequel with Puss in Boots, but this sounds like an episode from one of those kid-oriented KFP Netflix shows. 🙁 KFP2 was one of the best animated movies ever, followed by 1 & 3.
meh Toy Story 4 is a masterpiece compared to this Kungfu Mid 4
@@johans3164which is really bad when you consider the fact Toy Story 4 is awful
Sly cooper mentioned !!! Jeremy can we get a sly trilogy review??
Listen, it's not a terrible movie. I just probably wouldn't go out of my way to watch it if I were doing a KFP marathon. I'd be ok stopping at the third one.
The second movie will never be topped. Sad to see it’s only downhill from here 😞
Just like every hollywood movie lol😂😂😂
Can we stop putting Awkwafina in things? Please?
putting awkwafina in things is tight.
7am here In Australia. First youtube video of the day!
Solid review. Saving some people valuable time.
I'd love to see you reviewing CABRINI
Who TF goes up to Awkwafina and says 'what I love about you is that voice of yours that sounds like a washing machine, full of gravel, set to spin cycle, being kicked down a flight of staiirs.'
"Hey Awkwafina, I was thinking about giving you this role, but I was wondering if you could smoke four or five more cartons of cigarettes before we start recording."
The people who make her a Skeksis in that Dark Crystal prequel, which is honestly the only time her voice ever fit properly.
Just got out of the theaters and actually really enjoyed it. Sure it wasn’t perfect but it’s still a fun watch and Jack Black is the perfect Po. Loved them bringing back Tai Lung, wish he was in it even more
my favorites are:
2: has the sadist emotional scene and just love the animation on Lord Shen and how he uses his tail / wings in a fight.
1: perhaps a predictable story we've seen before but done well and so many quotable lines
3: is least favorite, but still fun with a lot of jokes.

awaiting your awesometacular review for final fantasy 7 rebirth, Jeremy
Hard to believe we manage to live to see the 4th movie of this series. I remember years back they said they wanted Kung Fu Panda to be a 6 movie series with each movie covering each step of Po's life with each step about him moving on to the higher position. Now we are only 2 more movies left until Po's story is concluded. The obvious issue with this plan is that they will lose things to follow and develop each movie because any type of character development would have already been done in the past movies. Not to mention potential issues long term with actors being avaliable or not.
Kung Fu Panda Rating: 2>1>3>4
Wait...Tigress gets screwed over again!!! Why????
Awkwafina that's why
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp goddammit.
My boys and I enjoyed it. They were disappointed that the 5 weren’t in it, but they were just so excited that they’re finally bringing these movies back.
I think the lack of the 5 will guarantee another movie and that was the positive i am taking for the lack of their presence.
With all that said, I thought it was a cute movie and I enjoyed it even on only four hours sleep.
BUT I do have one complaint … I do not like Awkwafina at all. If I never see or hear her in another movie it won’t be a moment too soon.
I figure they already established why no one from the 5 is is the Dragon Warrior in the first movie.
the second movie by far IS THE BEST ONE
I mean the fact they made you cry the origin of Po and the death of his mother ... it made it best when he basically FORGIVE the bad guy for killing his mother and kin, Honestly I wouldnt forgive but its a great leson to teach to like anyone
Sly Cooper Mentioned RAHHHHHHH 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Love that you mentioned Sly Cooper. ❤
The 4th installment of our bodacious hero Po is here and was such a fun movie to enjoy on a Saturday night vibe!!!!
This journey of Po was such a good addition to the saga as we embark Po on a new journey to discover passing the torch to a new character which in this case is a thief turned good fox named Jin who’s voiced by Awkafina that’s joining the kung fu family!! This time they are facing a new threat to the world that’s a Chameleon that wants to steal the kung fu skills from past masters that are in the spirit world which includes Po’s past villains including Tai lung. Seeing Tai Lung return felt a bit different as we sort of lose the intimidation and fear of this legendary villain as he was a bit more nicer and respectful to Po, probably because he was of the only 2 that was able to defeat him.
My Kung-fu panda tier list opinions
1. Kung-fu panda 2
2. Kung-fu panda
3. Kung-fu panda 3
Man ima put kungfu panda over kungfu panda 2..1 made you attached..amazing story, amazing villian
Jeremy please!! Watch Puss In Boots 2: The last wish! 😢
What's weird is I could have SWORN he did a review on that movie because I have this weird memory of me being convinced to go see it because of said review.
...but then again, the man deleted his trolls band together review for unknown reasons...
I dont understand why he needs a successor so soon, I figured he would have been the dragon warrior for a few decades until he was at least as old as his father.
My ranking:
1. Kung Fu panda 1 is my personal fav. it's well paced, it has the best action scenes in the series, it's the funniest, and it's just a great under dog story.
2. Kung Fu panda 2 is good but it builds up po's past as this big thing even tho we saw it at the start of the movie. Villain is amazing tho. It also just lacked that quick pacing I liked from the first film.
3. Kung Fu panda 3 has the best animation but I wish they experimented more with chi and got more creative with what it could do like dragon ball.
I don't care to see the 4th to be honest it looks fine. I'm just not motivated to see it.
