    I used you "exact" method of making a Rag Quilt, came out perfect. I did wash my flannel first (what a mess, so glad I did) thanks for the perfect instructions. OXOX

    Thank you Angel! I have been intimated by the process of quilting 3 layers(with the batting) and love this idea. With 4 grown kids I have plenty of T-shirts. I am excited to try this. TFS!!

      You are so welcome! It really isn't too hard at all for this, and it is fun! I won't lie, it saddens me that you feel intimated by quilting...however, I completely understand why you feel that way! I was like that at the beginning, but totally went for it with a very simple small quilt. And found that I loved it. I hope one day you will conquer the feeling of intimidation! I totally believe that you can do it! Seriously! When you are ready, never hesitate to ask anything. I will definitely be your best cheerleader and help in any way I can. In the meantime, enjoy the process of this TShirt Rag Quilt!!!

    Hello Angel,
    Thank you for this video!
    I was wondering if you can make chenille with t shirt fabric. Since you can make those rag edges with t shirt it kinda looks like you could...

      @HALO_Inspirations  Год назад

      Thank you. I am sew glad you liked it. Using chenille is a fantabulous idea after all you can do whatever you want with your quilts. It is your quilt. I will say that when you rag tshirts, they rag a bit different than quilting cotton. Knitted fabrics (tshirts) don't fray like quilting cotton, as quilting cotton is woven. But, it would be fun to see the look the tshirt material would give. If you try it, let me know! You could definitely experiment with some tshirts you are ready to rid of, or buy some from a thrift shop. But knowing that chenille is created when you wash it and the material frays, and because knitted fabrics don't fray..it may not be the look you are going for. Or, you may love it!

      I will take a look at it when we get in today. Will get back to you about it soon.

      I'm not sure why it is doing that for you. We tested it, and all seems to be working. However, we won't have you keep trying something that doesn't work for you. If you would like the free copy of the calculator, you may send us an email at stauffer@haloinspired.com In the subject line, you can put "Rag Quilt Calculator." We will then send you a copy. We do apologize for any inconvenience. Happy Quilting!

    What do you do if you don't have a square ruler

    • @HALO_Inspirations
      @HALO_Inspirations  2 года назад

      Wow! Another great question! You can use any ruler, really. A square ruler truly just makes things a ton easier. You could even make a template from like cardboard. The only thing about cardboard is that you cannot see through it. Finding the "center" of your T-Shirt with a wonky print will be more difficult with a template that isn't transparent. Using a rectangular ruler would be better than the non transparent template. Or a combination of both. Marking lines with the rectangular ruler, then applying the template would definitely be something to experiment with. The bottom line is that you find a method that works with your resources and the way your mind works, as long as you get whatever size squares you are wanting.

      You can use carpentry or construction tools like a right angle or a t ruler.

    Can I ask what a stabilizer is??

    • @HALO_Inspirations
      @HALO_Inspirations  2 года назад

      Great question! Stabilizer is used a lot with some T-shirt Quilts to give support to fabric during stitching. Sometimes it is to prevent puckering or stretching. Some of our T-Shirts are made from fabric that can easily stretch. This stabilizer will prevent that. The stabilizer gives the fabric structure. Sometimes it is used to be able to match different types of fabric to sew together more easily. For example, a t-shirt that is made from cotton and a t-shirt that is made from a jersey knit can be stitched together more easily. I use Pellon 906 Fusible Sheer weight when I make other types of T-shirt quilts.
