What's kind of hilarious about Harry getting amnesia is that it's comic accurate. Every single time an Osborn discovers Peter's identity, they get exposed to chemicals in a fight, or OD on drugs, or any number of things that result in them forgetting that Peter is Spider-man until they regain their memories out of the blue just to either die or lose them all again

I will forever sing the praises of Spider-Man 3. What an amazing movie. I don’t think people truly understand what that movie was trying to do. Both Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 are a set up for this (duh) and when you really look at everything that happened in the previous movies it makes this movie so much better. All the characters suck right now. Peter is an arrogant jerk who starts taking his loved ones for granted, and after a life of hardship and loss the second that his life starts going well his ego inflates with it. M.J. is tired of feeling like a failure, contrast to Peter’s now success, and is afraid she can’t tell him about being fired for her poor performance in her play. She’s mad at Peter for his arrogance, but then runs to Harry the second that issues arise in her relationship with Peter, showing how afraid of commitment she is. Harry is angry at Peter for taking his father away, but more than that, he’s angry that his father was RIGHT. He feels like a loser. Peter way always smarter, Peter got the straight A’s, Peter had his father’s love. He’s pissed at Peter for taking that, AND then taking his father away. His hate for Peter causes him to hurt M.J. as well, his friend and even love. The first two movies have put all of their relationships on the stovetop and let them heat, and Spider-Man 2 ends with the water boiling hot. Now the third movie happens and everything boils over. The anger, the pride, the hate, the loss and the pain, and each character has to learn to forgive each other, the main point of the film. Peter has to forgive Marco for shooting his uncle, and forgive himself of his own mistakes. M.J. has to forgive Peter for hurting her, and learn to appreciate what she has. Harry also has to forgive Peter, and even himself for the terrible things he’s done in the movie. Even doing so far as to literally let himself be stabbed to death to save his best friend. Yes it’s a lot and there isn’t enough time to flesh out everything that’s in play, but there’s so much understanding and so much heart in these characters that just doesn’t show in other adaptations. This movie balances what it means to forgive others and yourself, and also what happens when feelings are unresolved for a long time. The fact that anyone thinks this is a bad movie is beyond me. Also the memes. C’mon people, the memes in not only this movie, but the trilogy?? Freaking perfect

Your points against Spider-Man 3 are exactly what I love about it. It's genuinely depressing, everybody is mad at each other and nothing seems to go right, which is fitting since Peter donning the black suit, a symbol of anger and revenge, is one of the main focuses of the movie. At the end, even though we see Peter and MJ dancing together, they don't look happy. Because they're thinking about all the shit they went through and how rough it has been for both of them, because of Spider-Man.
But idk, I love dark and depressing movies in general so I may be biased lol

Well there was also supposed to be a second trilogy, with 5 and 6 being a two-parter as they would be filmed at the same time, which was a pretty big deal at the time, but obviously it never happened.
Maybe Peter and MJ have reconciled, maybe they got married, maybe they separated again, maybe they're still just friends. For all we know they could just be managing living together to take care of their kids, so... it's left open for us to speculate.
I personally hope they're separated because, if there's something we learned about their relationship in the trilogy, they're better off together and Peter deserves better.

I heard Spectacular is very well-written but the art style reminds me of how Ben 10 changed to more of a young kid's cartoon animation style - relatively speaking of course - after Alien Force (and the series that came after if I recall correctly). I am not ashamed to watch something like Ed Edd n Eddy as an adult (brilliant show with surprising amounts of subtle adult humor and genuine wisdom), but for some reason the art style of Spectacular is off-putting to me. If anyone is willing to try to convince me to watch anyway I'll be happy to read and consider.

It's kind of realistic in a way if you study evolutionary psychology and sexually dimorphic evolutionary biology (both for humans and other animals) and how it pertains to the modern world. There is something to be said about a double standard existing. It's believable. There are different double standards for each sex. It's really interesting stuff to learn about and gives me a lot more patience, compassion, and understanding about how the opposite sex (as well as my own) differs from the other. I think Raimi (and/or the script writer) understood this stuff, even if only subconsciously.

My only "defense" (well the closest to a proper defense) for Mary Jane in these movies is that I think the real big problem with MJ is less about how well-written she is, and more about how the movie needed to do more to emphasize how much her background really affected how much she views relationships and other stuff. Considering the things I've experienced with someone I know irl, MJ makes a bit more sense but it's also the sort of topic not everyone can understand, plus some legit fumbles on the movies' part makes MJ, to me at least, gets a bit too much hate.
Not saying she's actually perfect beneath the surface, there's just things about her as a character that's understandably not easy to grasp for most people.

While she is based on a character from a comic book, her relationship with Peter seemed like it was more or less inspired by Jenny and Forrest from Forrest Gump more than the comics in how the movies heavily emphasized her daddy issues and how her father abused her (as opposed to the comics). Peter also thought she was an angel when he first saw her at the age of six just like how Forrest thought Jenny was an angel when he first saw her on the bus at the age of seven. In fact, the opening bus scene in Spiderman (2002) where no one lets Peter sit with them is just like when little Forrest was on the bus and no one would let him sit with them. Mary Jane was the only one that showed compassion to him by having the bus driver stop the bus for him just like how Jenny let Forrest sit next to her on the bus. Cinematographer Don Burgess worked on both Forrest Gump and Spiderman so I wouldn't be surprised if Raimi took inspiration from Forrest Gump.

In Sam Raimi's Spider-man trilogy, you can feel the love the director has for the source material. Many of the shots in these three films are setup like panels from a comic book. Even better is the magic you see with each viewing. While his scene was cut from Spide-man 1, Eddie is still mentioned when Jameson is yelling for pictures of Spider-man and he's told, "Eddie's been on it for weeks, we can't get a good picture of him" (Eddie does appear in the novelization of the film). It's shame there wasn't a Spider-man 4 as Raimi did have a plan to start with Bruce Campbell as Mephisto would have been perfect (like Campbell's appearances in the other three films). I fell in love with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, and despite the meme complaints about his performances, some of his heartfelt scenes still make me cry. There's a reason why the audience was cheering at his appearance in Spider-man No Way Home, Tobey was the first Spider-man, he is Spider-man One.

In regards to Uncle Ben's death in TASM 1, I do see it as tied to Peter's actions, not a random thing.
    - Peter abuses his powers in school and breaks the backboard while humiliating FLash
    - Uncle Ben has to leave work to come to the Principle's office and now has to work a late shift, entrusting Peter to pick Aunt May up from work
    - Peter gets distracted and so focused on his interaction with Gwen and his work with Connors that he actively ignored Ben's calls and forgets to pick up Aunt May
    - Peter gets home late, realizes he screwed up, gets into an argument with Ben about his dad (because he's had issues regarding his parents leaving ever since they left)
    - He storms out, doesn't do anything about the guy robbing the store (even if he did get his milk, he wouldn't have done anything because he's angry and a bit selfish)
    - Uncle Ben comes across the guy as he's looking for Peter and was the only person who tried to do the right thing
Basically, the chain of events that led to Ben's death were a lot longer and more tied to Peter's emotional baggage over his parents (which has made him socially distant from others, which is why the whole "Andrew's Peter is too cool to not be popular" argument is very flimsy to me. No matter how much he gels his hair, no matter how much he skateboards, he's always going to have those emotional issues that distances himself from others, because "good looks" does not automatically mean someone is "popular")

His gun fell out of his pocket and Ben decided to try and grab it despite being an old man who realistically couldn’t do anything to stop him. He would have been of more use if he had done nothing and then gave a description to the police.

@@jakerobinson9475 To me, while it can be seen as a stupid move in hindsight, Ben’s first instinct was to get the gun away from the obvious criminal in the moment (because who knows what the guy could have done afterwards).
But I do think the deleted version of his death has just as much an impact, but it probably would have had the same people complaining that “he was stupid to go down the alleyway”. I’ve just come to accept that people will always complain about things no matter what (and while there can be a bit of merit to the arguments, I don’t think the smaller issues are that big of a deal compared to bigger narrative problems in comparison)

But there’s a difference between having the moral responsibility to help someone else, and putting yourself in danger for absolutely no reason.

Spiderman 3 has a really special place in my heart. Though I understand that it undoes quite a lot that was established in the previous 2 movies and that the writing is sloppy there’s an aspect about it that I don’t see talked much about that makes it special to me.
I’ve always looked up to Spider-Man (like many people) and done my best to be better and to always be a good person. However I’ve made mistakes in the past, many of which I’m extremely ashamed of. These mistakes constantly make me doubt whether or not I’m a good person, but then I think of Spider-Man 3. Peter is an absolute asshole in this movie, he makes some of the worst choices ever throughout the runtime of the movie even going as far to hit Mary Jane under the influence of the symbiote. Yet whenever I think of Tobeys Peter Parker I think of him as a good person. Despite the unjustifiable acts he makes in Spider-Man 3 at the end of the trilogy he’s still a good person, just one that’s made heavy mistakes. Because of this movie, forgiving myself for my mistakes has become easier. And it’s become easier to accept that I’m not a bad person for having made mistakes. And to me the help it’s given me is more than enough to look past the flaws in the movie

I think you are kinda wrong about Mj not having an arc in Spider-Man 3. I mean yea she doesn't specifically have an arc that starts and ends within Spider-Man 3 but her arc is a bigger arc that which started in the very first movie.
Mj has been pushed away by Peter constantly since the first movie, even though Peter just wants to keep her save. He refuses her in the first movie and then he quits being Spider-Man in the second movie so he wants her again and then he decides that he will be Spider-Man forever so he sends her again.
And even with all these stuff, Spider-Man 2 ends with Mj running to the Peter, in her weeding dress. She is the one who ultimately saves their relationship because according to Peter, Spider-Man can't be in a relationship.
So Mj's arc in Spider-Man 3 is basically frustration. Frustration towards her carrer, frustration towards her boyfriend and all that. She fails in her dream job and when she steps out of the theather she saws a crowd cheering. She immediately assumes that the crowd is for her. She assumes that whole frustration of the sad little girl abused by her father comes to an end. But no. Crowd is cheering for Spider-Man.
And when she talks to Peter about her struggle in work, Peter barely cares. And when Peter kisses the Gwen that's the last stroke for Mj, which leads her to cheat him with Harry. The only person she could find in her hardest time and btw right after she kisses Harry, she immediately regrets it.
Overall I'm not s huge fan of this arc or her story either but there is definitely something there when you think about it.

Funny, Tom has an Uncle Ben-tyoe in every of his movies, and even in the last one this role is spread between 2 characters.
