- This is NOT an April Fool's joke, Skyth literally put Super Mario 64 into Sonic Generations, the result is hilarious, amazing, and absolutely frustrating to beat levels with it but this is way too surreal.
Not all levels are beatable with the "normal" way, luckily Skyth has added unlimited wing cap and a way to go out of bounce while in 2D, but utilizing them is still extremely hard and you have to be really creative on what route you are taking. I also try to avoid using Free Cam teleport at all, but not sure how long I can go without.

For some reason, I kinda love this mod. It's funny to see an accurate mario 64 struggling with a lot of stuff sonic can easily handle (high falls and speed)

@@boister.1367 I think the point is how there are so much more things Mario can't do and Sonic can when comparing the two. There are barely any things Mario as a character can do better.
@Jen ... I don't think you know the meaning of sandbox game... those you mentioned are games where you can, quite literally, reform the ground around you, getting resources and upgrading your gear, hence the name "sandbox" (examples include Minecraft, Terraria, and some other survival games). even if he looks slow compared to Sonic, Mario is still an action platformer, or at least a huge part of the gameplay involves action, you can explode bombs and throw your enemies into the abyss, for crying out loud! it's also a puzzle platformer at times, but that's still not what sandbox means.
Meanwhile, Sonic is also a platformer, but it's rather a speed platformer, even though it has many iterations, most of them are one of a kind and you won't get the same experience elsewhere (except for indie games like Freedom Planet and Spark the Electric Jester, and even those are following his steps), no one can really do what Sonic does, not better than the blue blur himself. and that's the point to be made, Sonic is too unique to be even compared to other platformers.
@Jen then again, looking back at Sonic Adventure, Sonic could do well with puzzle platforming... it slowed him down, yeah, but that's literally the point of puzzles, and he's capable to solve them as well as, if not even better than Mario.
On the other hand, while Sonic can do what Mario does, a vast majority of Mario iterations can't even come close to handle the required speed to beat the more advanced levels in a Sonic Game, and Mario will never do better than Sonic in that regard, but that's not inherently bad, it's literally how developers intended these games to be.

This is my favorite generations mod because it’s not just a skin swap, it is literally just Mario 64 controlling like Mario 64 but dropped in sonic levels with completely different design. And it’s just so surreal and fun.

The GUN truck in act 2 is like that car that wants to go fast but has to wait behind the much slower car in front of it

Did you know that the skateboard skill you can purchase still works? It also resets Mario's grind animation to the shell animation.

Yeah, you can speed up much more there than you can in regular Mario 64 because Mario 64 doesn't have any stages with enough verticality and space.

Im sorry, this is a good video, props to the player. But i got annoyed each time they had mario use flight for things that wouldve seen do-able without it. I understand why for loops and other mechanics.
