From the interviews I've seen with Bill. He said that Charlie and himself thought it was a bunch of shit and the reason why they didn't go is they hated the RR Hall Of Fame because it is to political. That's too bad. Would have been great to have them show.
That Jean Cocteau quote in Jagger's speech pretty much sums it all up. Cocteau's exact words: "The instinct of nearly all societies is to lock up anybody who is truly free. First, society begins by trying to beat you up. If this fails, they try to poison you. If this fails too, they finish by loading honors on your head." Although Ian Stewart was, in Richards' words; "the glue that held the whole thing together”, I just saw his name spelled wrong on the R&R Hall of Fame site.
He and Wyman thought the whole deal was political, and didn't wanna show. I don't believe it was their type of scene anyway: they were more in it for the music
@@erichinton5774 Yep, all fakery. This is another reason why Bill Wyman is my favourite Stone, he didn't have time for fakery. He gave Brian due credit where no one else would, he related just how bad Keith's drug problems were, that they were no laughing matter, and he quit the band as he figured the Stones were done creatively and wanted to move onto greener pastures. @@Methilde u r quite DELISIONAL! U can't handle the truth! Ian "STU"! STEWART was the 1st musician to answer Jones's ad in Jazz News. Early '62. Geoff Bradford was the original guitarist along with Jones & Brian Knight was the original lead singer. Mick Jagger came in afterwards, then Keith Richards. Dick Taylor was the bass player b fore Bill Wyman & Tony Chapman was the original drummer b fore Charlie WATTS, who was still play with ALEXIS KORNERS' BLUES INC. band. U getting all this stuff down?
@@petegobeckli1386 amen! Brian Jones will always be the heart and soul of the Stones... no Jones, no Stones, say I
@@petegobeckli1386 So you ignore that Mick, Keith and Dick Taylor created a teenager band in Dartford : "Little boy blue and the blue boys" before be presented by Yan too Brian???
You're quite illusional.
and 25 years later they are still rocking
From the interviews I've seen with Bill. He said that Charlie and himself thought it was a bunch of shit and the reason why they didn't go is they hated the RR Hall Of Fame because it is to political. That's too bad. Would have been great to have them show.
That Jean Cocteau quote in Jagger's speech pretty much sums it all up. Cocteau's exact words: "The instinct of nearly all societies is to lock up anybody who is truly free. First, society begins by trying to beat you up. If this fails, they try to poison you. If this fails too, they finish by loading honors on your head."
Although Ian Stewart was, in Richards' words; "the glue that held the whole thing together”, I just saw his name spelled wrong on the R&R Hall of Fame site.
Brian should've been one of the first persons Mick should've thanked. Where's Charlie? Rest in peace, Charlie. You will be missed.
He and Wyman thought the whole deal was political, and didn't wanna show. I don't believe it was their type of scene anyway: they were more in it for the music
@@erichinton5774 Good on them, they knew the "Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame" was a joke from the get-go.
@@septimiusseverus343 yup and sadly, it's become even worse since this
@@erichinton5774 Yep, all fakery. Must be that WW2 mentality. Not to be controversial, but IMO Bill was the glue that held the Stones music together on stage, and after he left the bottom end truly fell out of their sound.
EXACTLY 💯, because Brian Jones created this band. ,I heard Mick Jagger or Keith Richards did not attend Brian Jones Funeral.
At Least Mick thanked Brian Jones... Andrew Loog Oldham was not mentioned, and he should have been. Without Andrew the Stones wouldn't have made the impact they did. They thank Ahmet and Jann Wenner but not Andrew Loog Oldham or Jimmy Miller? Laughable...
You're right I agree 100℅
He demoted Ian as a member of the band because he didn't look the part. Sad.
And no mention about Charlie Watts...
Yeah, and Jann Wenner is one of the biggest scumbags in the business!
1989? Holy wow. They almost need to be inducted twice now.
You desseved it you all are the best
MY FAVE R&R BAND OF ALL TIMES, EASILY!!! MICK TAYLOR , WHAT A GENIUS AS ARE ALL OF THEM. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRIAN JONES is The Father of The STONES. Period.
@Dicky fucking not true at all
So true!

Get on with it already he's gone and Stones are The Greatest Rock n Roll Band of all time!!!!
@@petermelnick1148 Disrespectful not to mention him. So, you deal with it!
Thanks to Leo Fender 🎸
couldn’t have said it any better.
Keith really loved Ian Stewart... very rarely misses an opportunity to pay his heartfelt respects to the guy.
Yea but not Brian Jones. Him and Jones didn't get on as well.
@@petrslivinski7481as far as Brian is concerned Keith is an ingrate for keep on blanking him out of the bands history
I don`t look forward to the day they finish. They inspire life in us all and for so long
And the Stones are still Rolling......who woulda thunk it?.....Life as we know it would be different without these gentlemen for sure.....they re almost unreal!.....but I know they exist....seen Van Halen open up for them in the mid 80s....dont remember to much a that ONE though....lol. ...Long live the Stones.. Thanks for the video
It was an encredible journey.
They had a big hand in shaping the world.
Wow... is Keith juiced! It's sad to watch him twitch like that.
Keefer always a nervous Annie and wiping the nose so much during his speech.
He sure was. Juiced and the rest. He was most of the time by admission. Sad when Brian was at that place they never had his back.
Keith’s always been nervous with speeches. Nothing new
The Stones are defiantly one of the top 5 best and most influential rock bands ever.
I say one of the top 5, cause most rock & roll afficianotos would at least agree they are somewhere in the top 5, where in the top 5 would vary from person to person.
And I have to give major props to Mick Taylor as he was a huge part of the Stones best years and best songs.
All years were great for them, but Taylor's period was hands down the best.
Ronnie and Brian carved out their own unique greatness with this band, but M Taylor's was the best.
Well they are asoloutley inthe top 2 ,what they have done through out there Career is astounding, stones are rock warriors, nothing seems to stop this band , heavy drugs, alcohal ,you name it they did it , it's a miracle this guys are still here and performing still ,I think they are the coolest best band ever ,
Brian should get more recognition. He was the true musical genius and leader of The Rolling Stones. Outshining both Richards and Jagger, respectively. Maybe that’s why he wasn’t treated great by them? Don’t know. Stones were never the same after his death (although still some great songs came out), mainly because they leaned towards the pop rock sound that would make them climb the charts and sell records. Brian brought something different to the band. We can see why great names like Hendrix, Dylan and the Beatles loved him. RIP to the true stone.
he's the best musician on the stage, that's for sure. You'd be uptight if you were standing around a bunch of guys who didn't like you either. It's amazing they even got him there during this time. I know they have a better relationship with taylor these days.
I love Keith haha and I'm so glad Mick mentioned Brian
The "Wax-works of Rock" comment was perhaps the best ever, and certainly the truest.
Right along with "Americans are funny people: first you shock them, then they put you in a museum." LMAO
33 years ago and the world thought they were sunsetting. Hahaha...classic defiance.
Oh my god, Paul! Y'all WERE 'inredibly unique!" Though I tried to crash the stage the Beatles' stage in New Orleans, the cops were tight~ I loved them soo very much, and honestly can't say that they surmounted you guys. loveed you alll! And, God bless him, I still miss Charlies Watts, as I'm sure y'all do. Love to you all, with special love today. Y'all made my chlidhood/adolescence incredibly unqiue! Love lovelovelove
Thank you
I saw the Stones in Birmingham Alabama in 89
Mick Taylor.
The best thing that ever happened to the Stones, and the worst when he left.
He might have stuck around if they had paid him a few bucks once in a while.
Gracias 😀😊 Mick Taylor por pertenecer a la mejor banda de rock de todos los tiempos
To Brian Jones who was the founder and leader of The Stones.
In his dreams only.
Temple of Rock in "Cleveland!" Thank you Mick Jagger!
@@Methilde It's true. Jones breathed life into his ROLLING STONES. JONES' STONES. Deal with it.
@@MethildeYou are sadly misinformed. Brian started the Stones, period!
@@ronnieron5368 Look at an Alexis Corner interwiew, he said that Mick was already singing with Alexis Korner incorporated, Keith was around and Ian Stewart made the connexion with Brian.
The anounce in Jazz News magazine (2 may 1962) was exactly : "Guitarist and vocalist forming R&B band require, sax, bass and drummer", there a photo of the original one on youtube. Facts
Keith.. High as fuck, no paper, and still delivers a better speech than Mick Jagger.
Rock and Roll.
Right....😂👍
Love the dig at Allen Klein. think Allen Klein broke the Beatles up not Yoko. Fortunately the stones were able to escape the clutches of Klein. The Beatles should of listened to Paul. He wanted Linda’s father who was a banker.
Exactly
It was John's trusting of Klein
Even the Rolling Stone laugh at Cleveland being the site for the RRHOF.
24 years ago and their still rockin.
3:17 Ronnie seems to share a joint to Mick LMAO 😂
the best band ever...
I can't believe Charlie wasn't there for this!
Not sure that Charlie appreciated this kind of ceremonial.
Add Nicky Hopkins when you her dressed in blue and about 40 others. Totally their best on piano
the very first and the last occasion for them to speak
such serious and emotional words.
Mick Taylor...
The classiest act onstage that night. And to Ronnie Wood, for acknowledging him. He knew who the best guitarist in the band was. The funny thing is that the Stones were NEVER, EVER the greatest rock & roll band when playing live. Actually, they were one of the worst when playing live! That is until Taylor joined the band. All you've got to do is take a listen to the live album....
"Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!" All the best lead playing on that record was Mick Taylor. Although I must say that Keith was pretty damn good himself on that one!
Paul Sullivan get yer yaya’s out is to me the best rock and Roll live album ever. Right, Mick T is the lead, but Keith is the power. Those two, on that album, is greatest companions ever in rock and Roll.

Ronnie and Brian carved out their own unique greatness with this band, but M Taylor's was when the most magic happened.
Every band that doesn't wear matching suits or sing happy pop songs owes them their existence. The MOST influential band.
Words Ron, words, words!

Why wasnt Bill and Charlie there?
It's cool Mick and Ronnie said something and ian and brian as well..
Mick looked coked up as fuck licking his lips all the time but gave a decent speech. Keef looked coked out of his mind with his giant eyes and .. he did it the keef way i suppose?
No mention of Bill Wyman?
WoW......don't think I have ever heard Mick Taylor talk !! LoL
Totally man, Sticky Fingers is my favorite Stones album.
If you're a Stones fan and somewhat enjoyed this check out Jagger inducting the Beatles in '88. I personally think Mick was a little "coked out" but it was REALLY touching!
What was going on with Charlie and Bill?
I thought Mick Taylor was beautiful way back in the day. And I even thought then as a tweener can 2 Micks be in The Rolling Stones?
Brian's band he enlisted all of ehm
