He's like that with nearly all interviews as well...you can't get beneath that seemingly good-natured co-operative exterior. It's all bland, non-committal answers. Whereas Keef is much more heart on the sleeve.
But was it what he really thought, or was he just being bitchy? He even used it to infer that Mick would suffer the same fate. In my experience that kind of needless needling is best ignored, or handled diplomatically, as Mick did.
Keith tends to be to the point. But it doesn’t always win him friends. ( ask Elton) Mick is ‘ very diplomatic’ ( see 1960s video where they’re asking him about the Beatles)
I really am glad that Mick and Keith did right by the Verve "Bittersweet Symphony" song. Giving it all back to the dude in the Verve. It's all he has and it was cool of them to do what they did. It shows that musicians can be about the music.

Sure , they had there moments but compare there catalogue to the Beatles or Zeppelin or Sabbath or Queen or Thin Lizzy or Metallica or Kiss or Aerosmith and it pales in comparison! At 1:43 you can see one of the things celebrities are masters at. You can see Mick instantly sensing someone is approaching him. I've seen many celebs that are incredibly aware of their surroundings and know if someone is behind them.
Even the press! That lady asking about his suit was really just her trying to get a photo op, probably for an article. Or maybe just for her personal benefit. But regardless, instead of being tacky or abrasive like most press asking for a pic, she walks up and asks him a specific question while complimenting his suit. Now she has an awesome pic of her chatting with Mick, some insight on what he was wearing, and more than enough for an article about the experience. Or just a simple memory. Either way, it was done with class. As only a member of British high society would.
I notice how at the end of that Madonna convo, Mick takes a dig at the Michael Jackson Dangerous Tour Rocket Man finale and Elton immediately knowing it was that.
I grew up in the village where Elton lives. It's fun to see the village at the start of the video when Mick is in the car. I never once saw Elton though.

Elton's estate looks fantastic...It looks like Mick had a great time...It's nice to see, that, a superstar, particularly, one of his status, doesn't take himself too seriously...So many lesser known and lesser accomplished celebrities, today, take themselves way too seriously...It would've been great to have seen John "Johnny Rotten" Lydon there...That would've really taken Elton's party to another level.

I saw this entire film when it premiered on TV. It was excellent. It was broadcast to coincide with the release of his 2nd solo album. Which I bought and I thought it was excellent. Didn't sell well from what I heard but I think that was from lack of publicity not quality. His first solo album was excellent also.
Actually it was to coincide with his 4th solo album "Goddess In The Doorway". His first 3 being "She's The Boss", "Primitive Cool" and "Wandering Spirit".

I saw this entire film when it premiered on TV. It was excellent. It was broadcast to coincide with the release of his 2nd solo album. Which I bought and I thought it was excellent. Didn't sell well from what I heard but I think that was from lack of publicity not quality. His first solo album was excellent also.
Actually it was to coincide with his 4th solo album "Goddess In The Doorway". His first 3 being "She's The Boss", "Primitive Cool" and "Wandering Spirit".
