It seemed like the world should have stopped but ppl kept on walking and talking as I drove by like it was an ordinary day! Its been years. I miss her so much, but I'm still here! Representing my mom, keeping her alive in my ❤. Great reaction as always.

I grieved my mother to this song. It came out about 6 months after she died in 1992. “Where is my friend, when I need you most” The paradox of grieving.❤
You're interpretations of the song were very good and meaningful. The lead singer, Simon LeBon, actually wrote the song after a friend's suicide. After the funeral, he was looking through photos of them together and wondering how he would be able to move on and "survive" without his friend (the line "where's my friend when I need you most" was his mindset). After that, he started interpreting all the other meanings it could have and incorporated it into this song, which was kind of their comeback song in early 1992 (they had a massive falling off from their 80s heyday).
Well said. I was about to comment that this was written regarding Simon's good friend David Miles and in general was written about losing loved ones before I saw your comment. Great comeback song and comeback album after they disappeared for a bit
I always think of the end of my relationship with my first true love as it was around the same time... a lot of sadness at the time, still a little pain even now.
@@elcorado83 I never knew this was about a friend's suicide. I'm sorry about your relationship but I think your first love is always special. I still play this myself after surviving a decade and a half of psychological abuse married to my ex-partner. Either way, this is by far my favorite DD song. Another really good one is Come Undone. Nice reaction!!
My three favorite songs by Duran Duran are, in this order, "Save a Prayer", "Ordinary World", and "Come Undone". I like all their other songs too, but those three really move me.

Written as a song of grief. Certainly turned out that way for me also. Within a year of its release I lost my world. This song helped me get through that time. It will always be special to me although I had never been a Duran Duran fan before.
The production of this song is otherworldly. The layers of the background singing and the orchestration were unbelievable! This is one of the top 5 best pop songs ever recorded!

It is a song about grief. Fimon LeBon had recently lost a dear friend and his grief for his loss inspired this song. Many has interpreted it as about the break up of a relationship and from a certain poi t of view it is but bot because of a partner's choice but due to death or a dear one.
Simon Le Bon wrote the lyrics and he tells his listeners his lyrics can be interpreted to whatever listeners want them to be. The back story of the song is about dealing with grief & also inspired by the Gulf War 1990-91. Ordinary World (1992) is part 2 of a trilogy of songs dealing with the passing of Le Bon's childhood friend, David Miles, to a drug overdose. Part 1 is Do You Believe In Shame? Duran Duran was our youngest brother's favorite group. And I usually avoid listening to them these days having lost my younger brother just a couple years ago. This song specially it always sheds a tear. Sometimes you just have to stand up and face it. Rest in peace Dominic. We really miss you.
This was 90's Duran Duran (1993 to be exact) and you can see how their sound has evolved since the eighties. One of the great things about them is that they are versatile and not afraid to change it up which is probably why they are still selling out arenas around the world and still making new music! I agree with Amber, this is a song open to interpretation but it’s definitely about getting over some type of loss! They are my favorite band since the eighties and I will always be a Duranie!💖💖
aww loved this reaction. this is one of my faves from duran duran, and aye, i do have a lot of there's i can say that about, but this one definitely has their magic in it.
I have come to appreciate Duran Duran. I was a young teen when they were first popular, and they were like a boy band, so I did not care for them. They really do have some good music. The Reflex is my favorite song by them.
@tjmeyer4469.Completley agree with you.I didn’t really appreciate Duran Duran in the 80s.I’d been a Rude Boy in the late 70s,early 80s and a huge fan of THE SPECIALS.Then I got into the whole Hip Hop b boy scene from 83 onwards, so like you I thought bands like Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet were just early versions of boyzone or take that.I absolutely love this song though. It’s very poignant to me and how my life’s gone.I also remember this song in Daniel Craig’s ‘LAYER CAKE ‘.A Duran Duran masterpiece.
Duran Duran is currently on tour, and I was at their concert in Tampa, Florida, back in June, and they are absolutely amazing. Ordinary World is on their Playlist, and there is another one I would love to see you both react to. It's called Lonely In Your Nightmare. Also, I would like to see your reaction to Missing by Arcadia. Simon's voice will put you in a trance. Love all that you do ❤
There are a number of Arcadia tracks they should react to. "Lonely In Your Nightmare" is a great choice. I would add "Hold Back The Rain" and "Careless Memories," from their debut.
That's a great song, isn't it? Yes, about losing someone dear, through death or through a broken relationship (the bit about pride tearing them apart). And yes, having to figure out a way to reach an "ordinary world," a world without the lost dear one, and making a go of that, best you can. The line that always gets me is the one that says, compared to the troubles of the world, "ours is but a little sorrow." What a great lyric. Of course, those "little sorrows" that barely measure on the world's attention, the sorrows of losing a loved one, can be extremely difficult to deal with.
The song is about Simon Le Bon's (Duran Duran's vocalist & Lyricist) childhood friend who passed away. It is also inspired by the Gulf War 1990-91 to be exact. However, Le Bon, with all of his lyrics/songs, wants the listener to make the meaning whatever it means to them. Ordinary World is part 2 of a trilogy in dealing with the loss of Le Bon's friend, David Miles. Part 1 is Do You Believe In Shame? & part 3 is Out Of My Mind, which was featured in the motion picture The Saint with Val Kilmer.
Best Duran Duran song for me. The technicality of the note progression, the way the chorus builds higher and higher with Simon Le Bon’s vocals soaring to a crescendo, the uplifting message, the guitar solo Just a sumptuous beauty of a song
'Ordinary World' showed real growth and maturity in Duran Duran. At this point they had passed into the realm of adult music.I love this song. I have to give a special SHOUT OUT to Lead Singer Simon LaBon for bringing it, especially at the end. Do 'Union of the Snake'!!
I was never a particular fan of Duran Duran, but this song is pure perfection. Everything about it just gels together resulting in a masterpiece. Even though they aren't one of my favourite groups, not by a long way, anyone who can create a song like this has to get respect.
Love this song. Great comeback hit for the band in the 90’s after falling off the radar in the late 80’s. Great lyrics, you can really feel Simon Le Bon’s pain of loss and grief from losing a friend to suicide.
Initially, Simon LeBon wrote this song as a song about the closest friend he had that just passed away. So the song is about losing a friend and experiencing and living and getting through grief. Yeah, he does say if when he gets interviewed that anyone can interpret this song to whatever they feel they relate to and if it helps them then that’s what the song is for. I relate to it as a song living through the loss of someone very close to you.
This song came out a couple of years after one of my friends died. When I heard it, it hit me like a ton of bricks. All of our mutual friends were Durannies, and the lyrics just perfectly described how I was feeling trying to navigate without my friend in my life. Excellent song. So happy you finally got to hear it. I honestly think this might be the best song in Duran Duran’s massive catalog.
I remember using this song as my guiding anthem through the pandemic. I had lost my job, gone through a difficult last year in university, and hardly got to see my friends at all. This song, among others, kept me going... Thanks for playing it. I needed it today❤

It was mainly in 1993 but it was released as a bootleg in December 1992.
Definitely a more mature sound and more mature subject here than their 80s heyday
aww loved this reaction. this is one of my faves from duran duran, and aye, i do have a lot of there's i can say that about, but this one definitely has their magic in it.
I have come to appreciate Duran Duran. I was a young teen when they were first popular, and they were like a boy band, so I did not care for them. They really do have some good music. The Reflex is my favorite song by them.
Yeah, The Reflex rocks! The video for it looks influenced by Mad Max II, I think.
@@mr.a8315I think you meant "Wild Boys."
@@seanswinton6242 Oh yes, you're right, thanks bud. 👍 They both rock.
Duran Duran, U2, and INXS were my vibe back in the day
Duran Duran is currently on tour, and I was at their concert in Tampa, Florida, back in June, and they are absolutely amazing.
Was at their Tampa show too...amazing! Love Arcadia!!!!
Its the last song of a trilogy. About his friends death
the first was Do you believe in shame.
the second Out of m mind.
Duran Duran is one of the most quintessential 80's bands.
The bands evolution over the decades has been nothing short of perfection. Great song!
This is one of my all time favourite DD tracks John Taylor is such an under rated bass player.
Best Duran Duran song for me. The technicality of the note progression, the way the chorus builds higher and higher with Simon Le Bon’s vocals soaring to a crescendo, the uplifting message, the guitar solo
Just a sumptuous beauty of a song
I've heard this song soo many times and didn't know it was Duran Duran 😅
'Ordinary World' showed real growth and maturity in Duran Duran. At this point they had passed into the realm of adult music.I love this song. I have to give a special SHOUT OUT to Lead Singer Simon LaBon for bringing it, especially at the end. Do 'Union of the Snake'!!
Would love to see them react to The Chauffeur.
One of my top 3 Duran Duran songs! Thank you!
I was never a particular fan of Duran Duran, but this song is pure perfection. Everything about it just gels together resulting in a masterpiece. Even though they aren't one of my favourite groups, not by a long way, anyone who can create a song like this has to get respect.
classic,. thank you both. Still makes me cry. dammmnnnn
The best Duran Duran song!!!
Love this song. Great comeback hit for the band in the 90’s after falling off the radar in the late 80’s. Great lyrics, you can really feel Simon Le Bon’s pain of loss and grief from losing a friend to suicide.
Yes ! 🎉❤
Beautiful song of DURAN DURAN , great vocals Simon LeBon!
Huge 80s band
Initially, Simon LeBon wrote this song as a song about the closest friend he had that just passed away. So the song is about losing a friend and experiencing and living and getting through grief. Yeah, he does say if when he gets interviewed that anyone can interpret this song to whatever they feel they relate to and if it helps them then that’s what the song is for. I relate to it as a song living through the loss of someone very close to you.
I did not know that. This song always brings a tear to my eye every time a hear it. It’s a such a beautiful song.
Every time I listen to Duran Duran, I feel that they create a soundscape that is almost visible~
One of the greatest hits of the ‘90s by a group that epitomized the ‘80s. Rarely has any group or artist evolved so well from one era to another.
“Ours is just a little sorrow”- best line!
Simon bringing it home❤ I do love this song.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "New Moon On Monday" and "Union of the Snake"!!!
This is also my favorite Duran Duran song. I thought it was simply mesmerizing. My second best is "Come Undone" which is from the same album.
This and Come Undone finally untap Duran Duran's full potential. Insanely deep and talented band.
Definitely the best out of their catalog
I love this song by Duran Duran probably my favorite song from them. Beautiful song.
.
I remember using this song as my guiding anthem through the pandemic. I had lost my job, gone through a difficult last year in university, and hardly got to see my friends at all. This song, among others, kept me going... Thanks for playing it. I needed it today❤
Nobody ever mentions Simon LeBon when speaking of the great voices in rock/pop. He is extremely unique and clean in his vocals and phrasing. 2:50
I've always said that Simon belongs right up there as one of the best front men ever.
Absolutely favorite song and I was a teenager when Duran Duran started.
