  • My son and I had a fun summer project...to transform our ugly concrete slab into an inviting place to hang out outside. I think we accomplished our mission!
    All materials were bought at Lowe’s!

    The fact that you took the courage to tackle a big project like this on your own, was awesome, and to have a helper that is your son much more awesome than the job itself. Why, because by doing this as a mother teaching his son that YOU tried, and finished it cost what cost. You've taught him that there will not be any limitations on wanting to TRY to do anything, to progress on your own. You were not a professional tile setter, but you made an effort to try and make your out door look lovely and that you both and with family can enjoy. If it cracks or what ever, you'll learn to figure how to fix the problem some how. Not every body has the means to hire a professional to do things for them, so the last resort is to try it yourself. This lady/ mother did well for herself and her family. God bless her for giving her intelligence, courage, wisdom, strength, love, and an awesome son that was eager to help in something so beautiful...

    Now that’s a partner I can get behind. I’ve been in the electrical field for 30 years doing all kinds and levels of electric from low voltage landscape lights, under cabinet lighting and chandeliers to high voltage linemen work now I’m back to doing commercial and residential electrical to troubleshooting. I also do handyman work all from custom builds to stock installation but to find a partner who can help in upgrading our home and making it an oasis to come home to and enjoy it every day and especially on the weekend with family and friends. Amazing job!! and schooling your son to help. I’m flabbergasted. I need a life partner like you😍🥰. Sending many blessings your way. Keep up the awesome job and keep the projects coming.

    Hi. What is the season like in florida? Do you get crazy winter and snow in winter? Ceramic tiles will be very vulnerable to freeze-thaw effect. Porcelain tiles, if done right, is a better choice. You did great btw.

    Lovely and great job on it. Currently building a home and contractor has said that they would not be able to tile the patio so looking to do this after we move in. A couple questions, how is it holding out now that some time has passed, and did you cut all pieces before starting or as you went along? Concerned about handling cracks if they happen after laying tile

    • @ronlaverdiere
      @ronlaverdiere Год назад +5

      It is advisable to put down something like the Ditra Membrane first, then tile on the membrane. That will greatly assist in avoiding any concrete movement or cracks from transferring to your tile job as well. Cement board is NOT meant for use on concrete. You will cut the tile as you go - a wet tilesaw is a cheap rental item that will do the job. Tile work isn't complicated but it is hard on the body if you aren't young. Wear a mask if you mix your own mastic - that dust is highly toxic. The pre-mixed stuff has come a long way though, so you should be fine with that. The most important parts of the job are a good foundation, then the layout so you don't end up with a very narrow final row. Map it out on graph paper if you can, makes the job a lot easier if you know exactly where to start the job.
