plusnightlife Our Operations team used a Laser Link to shoot a Flag with a Crystal back on the tee box to find the 300 yard mark. Then we used a 100' tape measure to mark the rest of the grid. No matter what the yardage is, Longest ball on any grid wins.
Why are these long drive contests always on a well elevated tee? This tee box must be 10 stories high. These 400 yard drives are probably 330-350 yard drives from a level/normal tee which is still pretty damn good. But its not 400.
+Shakester71 They also come down steeper in a setup like this, so there's less roll. There were a few balls that just stopped dead, something that normally wouldn't happen.
No these drivers are allowed on the PGA Tour, pros don't use them cause the longer you get the less consistent your drives get. Pros are all about hitting it down the middle every time not, hitting the fairway 5/13 holes.
No matter how you look at it, its still a big advantage. I've played courses where the tee wasn't even as elevated as this and I average 280 with my driver with about 270 yards of carry. I've busted 320 on those elevated tees. The higher the ball is in the air, the more its going to carry.
Very American, only things missing are explosions as the ball flies down there, helicopters, Air Force Jets flying, Navy seals parachuting on top of the golf ball.
Just curious, since they were hitting from a elevated tee, seen the other long drive events where they hit the balls from a level tee, did that make it any easier to gain MORE yards on their shots, really mthink that they had a much BIGGER advantage being able to hit their tee shots from that elevated position........
Everyone saying they are elevated so hit it further. There's countless videos of Joe hitting it 430 + on a flat range or course so when any of you can hit it over 330+ your opinion might matter even tho they will still carry you by 100 yards 😂
Is it me or is the landing zone not straight compared where they are swinging from? Like a ball landing on the left would be farther than a ball landing on the right, purely based on the lines.
Yeah, but everyone is hitting from the same height. And to be honest, with their ball's descent angle, it only adds about 10 yards. You still gotta be able to swing 20mph faster that Tiger woods if you want to even have a chance at making it to the Worlds championship.
this kind of range is so inaccurate. not only is it curved and awkward but the platform is elevated into the skies. can't belive they could't find a better place for a final.
@@nysports5085 Most of these guys are single digit Handicappers, and a few are scratch. And no, they are not illegal drivers. The heads conform to the USGA rules, and the length of the shafts are maxed at 48". I was a LDer in Hawaii so I know what I'm talking about.
@@nysports5085 Nice! I averaged about 20y longer than the top PGA pros average drives, and the guys swinging 145mph were averaging about 40y longer than me. I wish they were forced to use PGA legal equipment only, to really see their relative advantage and spin/speeds vs PGA tour guys. The longer shafts and certain factors are good for entertainment but kinda takes away from the real amazement of how hard these guys hit.
Obviously they need to be elevated if possible to allow for better viewing etc. And really it doesn't matter they are all playing on the same field. If however you are just trying to imagine how far ahead of you they really are then yes I think they set it up to get big numbers over 400+ to make it more sensational but what sport doesn't.
