Simon is such a consummate bass player -- and an inseparable foil for Robert -- not only does he truly lay down the 'base' of what the band works from but you can see him watching Robert and taking cues -- a zen duo -- with an incredible capacity for attending to what is possible . . .
I know i've already posted a comment on this particular version of this fabulous song, but every time I watch this ,I just cannot help but think this has to be the best ever.Robert's guitar playing all the way through, but particularly at the end,is superb !!!!!
Well. I Made A Baby. Befire Brudget Jones. Lovely he us too. 37 now. Remember This Very well. It was Actually A Solstice wekend. BIG Moon hangung. FANTASIC.
@Pedro Tomas Silva I prefer boris too but...NEW drummer? It'll be 20 years in like a year.....Poor Jason Cooper...hes still the "new" drummer....nevermind hes been drummer for the cure for about 12 years longer than boris was....
I agree Boris was the best drummer they had, made all live performances that much better, he was amazing in The Cure In Orange performance. I liked what Lol did with the first four albums too though.
Jason Cooper is actually a decent drummer. When he was the new drummer in late 90s, the band kinda did have to slow down songs and drumming was not as creative as Boris and not a lot of people gave him chance after that. I like Jason Cooper as a drummer. But in the end, nothing beats Boris.
@ILearn2PK I agree, it was a pretty stupid statement to make. The Cure was a massive influence on many shoegazers like Ride, and Robert Smith liked them. Also, Curve is almost Cure, right ? :)
@novembrine1 oh and maybe u should think before saying anything stupid because i was just saying that robert ussually stares att his shoes while he is singing thats why i said that robert is a shoegazer!
@novembrine1 Look i couldnt find it if u dont believe me its ur problem if u really want to find the interview find it yourself if u pay attention on songs that he isnt playing the guitar he looks down cuz he said he couldnt look in the faces of millions of people, i still dont get why u said i was a provoker cuz ur the one who started with the insults if u keep insulting ill just stop replying cuz im finding it pointless to discuss something this way!
I think "A Forest " is one of their greatest masterpieces ! It's my favorite song of The CURE. Friendly from France
We need a time-mashine to travell back to the 80ies!!!

I was there with my mate Eddy 😀
I went to tons of gigs with him, and sill miss him lots.

May Eddy Rest In Peace.. must have been amazing to see them!
Me too....my first time was Glastonbury 86.......and their version of this was stunning...THey headlined the saturday night

Simon Gallup is why The Cure are able to sound like The Cure.

Sorry, they wrote this in 1979, this is a 1986 version, but this song is timeless, and has contributed to what we know today as electronic music.
Una de mis 3 bandas favoritas Los fui a ver en Argentina al año siguiente y cuando regresaron en el 2013

@Pedro Tomas Silva

+Milk Carton Cant forget about Lol man. He was pretty basic in his playing but still sounded pretty good.
I agree Boris was the best drummer they had, made all live performances that much better, he was amazing in The Cure In Orange performance. I liked what Lol did with the first four albums too though.

@novembrine1 i read a lot of interviews with him but ill try to find that one
@novembrine1 oh and maybe u should think before saying anything stupid because i was just saying that robert ussually stares att his shoes while he is singing thats why i said that robert is a shoegazer!
i felt in love with them that year...
if u r girl we can hang...
Clap clap clap.. like a group of waterworld seals..
@MrMoodyHyadd which one is Port again? I read the first part of the cure story, but had to stop reading it cause it was too boring..
@novembrine1 I love the cure AND shoegaze! Bwahahaha!
who's the "nobody's son" who disliked this ???
A sob
@novembrine1 Look i couldnt find it if u dont believe me its ur problem if u really want to find the interview find it yourself if u pay attention on songs that he isnt playing the guitar he looks down cuz he said he couldnt look in the faces of millions of people, i still dont get why u said i was a provoker cuz ur the one who started with the insults if u keep insulting ill just stop replying cuz im finding it pointless to discuss something this way!
