The biggest problem is staring at the FPS on screen. I fell into that trap for years but realised it was actually stopping my enjoyment. So, I no longer bother.
true, just realized most 3rd party (if not all) switch games run at 30fps and didn't even notice lmao
99ôiô a!
Right? It can distract from the enjoyment of the gameplay, or the entire reason for getting the games in the first place. If it's fun to play it's doing it's job.
I agree with you, how you can get caught up in the Addiction of the FPS...then you care more about that , then actually enjoying the game. I'm gonna be leaving my FPS off and focus the real reason I bought the odin pro...because I love video games!!!!
Poco F3 is better than this console. 8gb ram, 256gb storage, snap 870, AMOLED 1300 NITS (not lol ips).
Looks like I'll be getting one of these soon. Everybody is saying this thing is a beast and has great value and it's the device I've wanted for years
Just gonna say, the battery chart is a great idea and if you had comparative battery charts between popular emulation devices that would put you above everyone else
At such price, it's the best retrograming handheld, period. It also has great open source gpu drivers for linux, great proprietary gpu drivers on windows on arm. It can do everything. It's not just an android handheld.
Ubuntu Touch is also available for it.
I am using OnePlus 6 with SD845 and the support for this chip is just insane
Really?! Someone needs to do some linux videos. All I see is Windows and Android. Wink wink @ETA Prime
@@zenstrata too big low battery duration for me
@@zenstrata of course, but that's a different product, a lot bulkier and heavier.
@@microlinux also way more expensive since the base model has very little storage and no ssd.
Great review. Just bought this, and can't wait to test it out myself! 😁
Looks ideal for almost all PSP and a decent amount of PS2 titles, It's release really is well timed for AetherSX2.
Yes and the emulator could improve a lot with time :D
@@dexdroid Thier a lot of games work good on Aethersx2 emulator on sd 845 how much keeps fps stable unlike s10 plus turn oven and runs less fps over I am thinking about getting odin pro to play Aethersx2 like Bakugan Battle Brawlers and GOW 1 and 2
@@morobest5351 do u have snapdragon variant ? Cuz with a sd855 and maybe a cooler u could play without problems a lot of games and even using dex mode to connect it to the tv is amazing
@@dexdroid yes I have sd 855 s10 plus problems if play game to long phone heats up alot so something odin pro may slower s10 plus but on Performance mode it slow down do to heat and run games batter then s10 plus SD 855 for long play times.
@@morobest5351 yes that's right but at least on phones u could always buy a cooler and that helps a lot bro u could play long hours with it
I managed to get F-zero at near full speed by overriting emulated CPU clockspeed to 300 percentin dolphin MMJR with the SKIP EFB hacks enabled. It's a bit choppy when the race starts, but then pretty much solid the rest of the time.
I actually have a Snapdragon 888 with a Kishi controller, but I just hate that setup so much because I hate balancing normal usage and gaming with the phone's battery life and have to have dedicated gaming machines since I play so much. I am loving the Odin pro reviews though and bought a trans purple one a while ago (not sure if it's in the shipment going out now or if it's the next batch). Definitely hoping to get this device before my trip to Europe in June.
Man, I can't wait for mine to ship. I backed the Base pack. I thought the Base and Pro units would ship out simultaneously but I guess not.
Me too but the pro shipped first but I got mine it's awesome
Hi, maybe you can help me, this console come with roms? O we Need to put in?
@@goneduard No roms are included.
Ya!! Finally. I've been looking forward to you're review on this badboy.
Well I'm retarded. You already did a video on it... 😂
Damn just in time
I was just thinking of when is your video coming out 👌🙂
If this is the 1st iteration, I expect the next with SD 865 since design wise is really good and has potential to improve it.
OMG imagine a couple of years from now they started using SD Gen 1's?!?! That with 12-16 GB of ram will be a proper portable arm PC!
Plus once they upgrade it to SD 888 that handheld will be a powerhouse
@@thetekksetter1356 and will require the power of a power house. The sd888 and gen 1 are the most power hungry chips in the Android Market . A sd865 is good enough for most of gaming on Android. I think that they must go with the destiny line more.
Good news haha the Odin two is snap dragon Gen 2! Wooooot I’m from the future btw
Cool device, thank you for the review!
Time to retire my RG552, this is a step up in a major way. Can't wait until the end of Chinese New Year break so AYN can get on the ball shipping these.
Thanks you. I enjoyed your video.
So close to perfection for what it is ,incredible for a first time product
I'm hoping for one with Snapdragon 870 at the very least for GameCube. Snap888 plays Dolphin MMJR2 extremely well depending on the game but it does throttle under hot weather.
Most games will run on this even with a 2x upscale so sd 870 might help in some PS2 emulation.
Hi, thanks for all the interesting content you provide for us. I was wondering if the odin could fit in and work with the baseus docking station you showed before, in the Motorola desktop mode presentation video. It would be nice to have the Intel, I'm not a big fan of the provided odin docking station in their igg campain.
Late last year I got the Anbernic RG552 and very long story made short, after the most miserable user experience with a gaming device I've ever had and the horrendous customer support from Anbernic, in early January without hesitation, I backed this project. Hope to get mine some time this decade. :)
…exactly the sae story here…sold the damn thing…will never buy anbernic ever again…nor anything aliexpress…bought retroid pocket 3+…best ever…waiting since august 22 2023 on my ayn odin 2…
About a week ago I put in my contribution for a Pro in clear white. The lame thing is the only way to get clear white with the pro is to get that bundle. Some things in that bundle I wanted but not everything. Oh well. Still looking forward to this a lot!
Do you have any idea when yours might come?
@@zerioification It just arrived! I figured it would take several months and due to the China lockdowns it took a few weeks longer.
@@TroutButter thanks for the update! 3 months huh.
Man, imagine a next version with the new Snapdragon 8 gen 1. It could be outstanding. A dream come true.
Only downside would be lack of windows drivers
Did you order the new odin 2? 8 gen 2!
I've just ordered one, really excited for it. Will you do a setup guide for this?
I have a razer kishi & s20 FE, its amazing that I can play all these console on it!
Hope to see you review the Steam Deck
I got the Base and I think it is pound for pound the best android handheld gaming device, yet!
It looks like a great machine, but my question is about the emulators. Do you have a video where you go through all of your favorite emulators for each OS? If you don't you should make one. Thanks.
Got mine, love mine!
You need to set the cpu over clock to 300% for f zero gx to perform well. Just hoping you knew
"The LAN Before Time" - what an awesome name for your WiFi connection lol.
That thing is pretty awesome, will you be making a video of it running windows 11 and steam games as well?
Planning on it but wanted to get android out of the way first
@@ETAPRIME people are definitely showing windows and steam running and playing games on this device
Another channel had a video on the Windows stuff. In some respects it was really cool.
However, one of the ways it was not cool... the integrated Gamepad apparently doesn't work with Windows. So, it basically become a small Windows tablet.
That's a deal-breaker for me using this for Windows gaming. But maybe that will eventually be sorted out and working.
@@linkonprime that's just drivers problem. I'm sure some hackers are already working on it
@@ETAPRIME try running an android emulator on the Windows version.
Muchas gracias por la información y que tengas mucho éxito en tu canal. Me suscribo.
Thanks for the Video. I really enjoy your Videos and you Voice. 😊
Is it safe to order over indiegogo?
Looking forward to seeing this compared to the Steam Deck. When that comes out.
I would have really liked to see more on the custom software and how it plays games like Genshin that do not support controllers.
been playing on my poco f1 with the gamesir x2 controller. really hope ayn make a sd888 one. it can utilize the fan for being a hot chip
You convinced me to get one. Let's see how long it takes to ship.
Asphalt 8: Airborne and Roblox are now compatible with AYN Odin and those two games are supported. Now I can test them out see how good this is.
I wish this thing had a mic and sim slot. I'd use it as my main phone.
The Lite is rumored to have a locked down SIM slot that can be activated, but no one knows for sure yet. All Odin’s have mics though.
For me I want this for sega old systems like Dreamcast and maybe psp and Nintendo DS and 3DS. For ps1 to 3 I have my ps5 for that.
I love everything about my Odin Pro, but the L1 trigger is sticking. It still works, but it's not very clicky. I'll wait for a teardown video before opening it up
I really want something with this chipset or better to come out in a device the size of the RP3 or smaller, there still are not any properly powerful and pocketable options in the handheld world.
I like the form factor.... but, still waiting for my Steam Deck.... can't wait to see how Emulation is on that device is.....
f-zero x has been shown to play great on odin through windows on arm
and I think mmj would run it full speed with 300% cpu overclock. The main issue with windows on odin pro that the controller is still not supported yet I am actually waiting for it to be supported to buy the odin pro or odin base.
Would you be able to do a video on how to install emulators onto this device? Thanks
May I ask would u be doing a comparison video between the GPD XP?
Did you had any of the following problems after few days of using this device?
- Defective/Burnt USB port
- Shoulder button issues
- Analog stick drifting and deadzone issues
- Off-centered prints on the buttons
I think we could collaborate and add the legitimate issues and send it to Andy to work with.
Just saying, that my Odin Pro doesn't have any of these issues apart from the off-centered prints on the buttons.
I know more powerful handhelds will come out but for ps2 and below handheld gaming. Do you think a base model Odin would be a good purchase? The analog sticks make me wonder if I can enjoy playing games like super smash n64 or ps2 shadow of the colossus.
Nice video, can i play NES and SNES games on this device ?, is there built in emulators for that or should i download it by myself?
Its a nice product, priced pretty well.
So nice to see these products finally moving up a gear, like we suspected this year would show.
Nice as well, it has the screen size.
In real terms, what more can you want from such a device, there is endless amounts of good games that are functional playable of it.
I do not really play games, but if i did, i would seriously consider getting one of these.
Very nice overall, as long as you understand what it can play and not play. But considering it can play upto psp, gamecube, what more can you want from a handheld at the mo.
f zero works great with CPU set to +300 on both MMJR and MMJR2 Also enable preshader to avoid random drops. I'm getting 60 FPS consistently.
Does it maintain 60fps on every course? I've had issues with that on Sand Ocean, even on my pretty decent PC.
@@ErdricksArmor some course there's a bit of struggle. Make sure you're on high performance. I use Smart fan.
are you gonna make a vid of playing those android games? Spongebob bfbb and others
Id like to get one, one day
Ps2, gc, wii, ds, n64, 3ds, ps1 I want it so bad haha XD
The USB-C video out displays at 4k/60, the top mini hdmi is 1080p/60.
Thanks for reviewing this interesting piece of hardware!
Hope that hardware review activities related to flavor remain behind closed doors. Hehe!
"The Odin Pro Is the Best Android Based Handheld emulation / Gaming console we've ever tasted!"
I've seen people booting windows with this device, I would like to see if it can boot emuelec and see how it performes
Try using Dolphin MMJR2 for F-Zero
I wish you would download a video of ps2 wii gamecube setup video in detail
I'm holding off for a higher end chip.
Not really related to this video but I did wanna suggest using Saints Row 1 if you're looking for a benchmark game for Xenia. It's certainly a game that will test whatever hardware running the emulator.
Can we see more PS2 titles? Twisted Metal black, NBA street, Madden?
Hi. Great video. Is there a retro handheld that can emulate switch games? As the switch can’t be used for retro games? Ie one system that can do it all??? Thanks
I order the pro version still wait for shipping.
Waiting for the lite model reviews.
I'm buying the pro. I'm just having trouble deciding which color!
Cold gray 👍🏾
@@tjs8560 yeah that's the way I'm leaning
i have some questions that so far ive yet to see addressed.
1. Can its OS be updated from Android 10 to Android 12?
I noticed the Lite version comes with 11 while Pro comes with 10 very odd.
2. It can play retro stuff just fine, but how is it with actual Android gaming?
I'm mostly concerned about
FFVII: First Soldier
Nier:Reincarnation
LifeAfter,
Cyber Hunter,
Games of that magnitude.
oh and for sure want to know if
Toram
works on it.
for some reason my device is no longer supported by that game and that was and is 1 of my favourite mobile MMORPG of all time.
Hi, I don't know if you've heard of this but recently it's possible to boot win11 on an android device with snapdragon 845, I will be very grateful if you test it!
Can I play with Play station remote? Also which is the size of the screen? Thank you so much I’m gojng to buy it this week🙏
You planning on doing a galaxy s22 ultra video?
I have to wait a little bit longer to get one.
If you have a galaxy tab s6 though would that sd855 outperform this? The convenience of the controls is nice though
can we use Odin pro as a PC with the help of dock and mouse/keyboard
Samsung a52 5g. Razer kishi controller. Sd card support. Dual stereo speakers. 120hz refresh rate 1080p amoled headphone jack Bluetooth Nfc not the fastest soc in the world but £250 it can't be beaten right now.
Dont lie you just a bum can't afford the flagships
I don't know ,I can't get into a handheld that uses a mobile processor from 2017, if it had used an snp865 or 888 then sure that's fine.
Do you know roughly how long it would take to ship to u.s once I ordered it? Also, have you experienced any major issues with the controls working on any games?
Most games tested in video: "It's not at full 60"
Me: Looks pretty good to me....
You are awesome from egypt
Loved the review but honestly a tease not showing some gameplay of all those apps such as Gamepass ect
I wanted this.. but I just can't bring myself to it with the Steam Deck coming
Havent seen any videos about the faulty units with L1/ R1 buttons but it seems to be a big issue... The latest official update today says they are redesigning them, and sending out repair kits, which doesnt sound good.
I really hope they have solved the issue, as it does look a great device capable of many things.
They said they will replace any that had the problem, and have already fixed it for new versions. I got mine and no problems
Not everyone has the issue, but also not sure why them sending out repair kits to people that do have the issue is concerning to you? Sounds like they’re addressing the issue for existing customers and trying to make sure it doesn’t happen in the future
Can u get emulationstation on here or is there an alternative? I like having a front end that organizes all the systems with box art.
Want to mention- I went to purchase one of these the other day from the Indiegogo link. First it wouldn't let me use my PayPal and the conversion of HK>US wouldn't take. Then I put my card info in and it said my card was declined. Checked it over and everything was fine (they even asked for the CVC number) and it was declined a second time. Two days later I got a call saying that my card may possibly have been compromised from a number that is not my bank. And they even said I could call 24 hours a day. Shaaaady.
Yikes. Thanks for the heads up.
There is also a Lite and a Base model, gotta find comparison
Please show Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2 for gamecube. If it runs well. Im buying one.
This channel literally proves to be the best damn channel for hardware and updates.
Taki does a better in depth of this device and runs stuff at full speed eta prime didn't get working correctly
I wanna buy one. But that website is weird af and talking about backers.....just give me a price and let me add it to the cart!
Cloud gaming let's that device combine retro and Android games with the latest AAA stuff. Should find more consideration.
Hmmm have to test my base unit I could swear I get 10 + hours with video playback
Could you please review the mocute 060 gampad for phone
Is there something like this but with a much less powerful chip so it's cheaper? I want something with a solid display and analogue triggers to use for streaming games from my PC. Given that I'm streaming I only need good controls and a good display so I don't want to overspend on a chip that I don't need. Unfortunately the pi based handhelds that I've seen have low res displays and retro style controllers.
Better than the Red Magic 6 and a Razer Kishi? Here in lil' ol' England it's roughly £470. As expensive as a base Steam Deck.
are going to do test on the steam deck
wonderful
Paper mario ttyd on gc is what im looking to see if it can run
Damn it's always been a dream to play PS2 games on a handheld and it looks like it may well be done with the Odin pro
@@zenstrata yep n can play modern games which is good if u don’t just wanna do emulation
Plz do a vid on project renegade
This handheld is amazing, for a good price too
Can you please tell me if the built in controller is recognized as a usb device on the android system? If so I could use virtual here to remotely connect controller to pc. I know moonlight and steam link can wrap controller as xinput but I prefer using superdisplay for game streaming.
0:05 Nice
ETA Prime need your help - want to emulate up to ps3 (mainly n64) but cant decide on handheld helps of mini pc's. Too many options can you recommend a complete package or product which will allow me to do so. doesnt have to be portable but i want quality experience and hassle free emulation up to and including PS3 but overwhelmed bu info etc. BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE
It's a very good handheld, but i'm also unsure about it personally because of Steam Deck which can do the same in Emulation and cloud gaming, but also run PC games natively. Deck costs more, but great priced for what you get.
Same... if the deck wasn't coming out I would definitely own one of these.
I own a steam deck, it's amazing but it's a little too big. Plus I do like Android for certain things
